I liked the first part of "Preludes" - up to the Sherlock's "plunge" - more than the rest.
Cold nights can be a blessing - but who'd have thought Sherlock was so sensitive to cold?:)
And Sherlock claimed he never begged:) He did, twice?
Sherlock actually says the word 'boyfriend' and 'you're mine!' 'I'm yours!' 'Fuck me!'- and John takes all this adequately, seriously.. I don't believe it:) John did:) and Sherlock's image didn't shatter, and John wasn't even surprised.. strange.
It's surprising that Sherlock considered 'checking John's pants' with no shock. It came just.. *natural* - why??
It's also not clear why Sherlock was the one to 'take the plunge', as it was John who was obviously attracted and aroused, not himself.

"But in Sherlock’s mind there was no insult made" - maybe it isn't only because it was John, Sherlock's scientific mental set just never considers such subjective emotions as shame, embarassment (?)

"We could have taken on Moriarty’s assassins together. Am I not good enough for you to—“" - John must be crazy assuming such unreasonable things. Could they, really?

Well, good luck with your Sherlockian studies. Keep them more.. real and closer to the original, I'd add :)
