Reviews for Conquering Fear

I did a little research, and a chemise is what a woman would have worn under her corset. A chemise of some kind has been worn from the early first century. It was worn as an undergarment, the poor wore very simple linen, the weathy wore fancy, decorated linen. Perhaps Victoria, being a liberated young woman, decided she just didn't need to wear a corset.

However, it would be fun to see how frustrated Diego could be with the corset, since he has so little patience with even her skirt and blouse.

Overall, great story. However, I found the dialogue (in the middle of this chapter) a little bit confusing. Victoria is not the type to not answer someone's questions, espescially Diego's (Zorro's) questions. Another confusing thing is Victoria says she wants to talk marriage and babies and yet, near the end of this chapter she doesn't want to talk anymore... again, seemingly out of character, seeing as they hadn't really decided on anything. I can see that happening to Diego (not finishing the conversation with no real conclusion... he is a man afterall), but I would think that Victoria would want to know that she has a future with Diego, right? Ok, like I said, great story, but maybe you can make sure the dialogue is clear and concise. Thank you for writting!

PS. Yes, you write smut very well.

I have read all three versions. I think I like this version best because it is easier to follow. Are you writing this first, and the taking a marker to the other versions so they fit the ratings? Anyway, pretty good description of sex. You do have to watch where peoples hands are, and keep track of what clothing comes off. That seems to be the issue I see the most. If his hand is on her breast and hip, what is he holding himself up with? Not that I saw this, just something to watch for. I noticed there was no corset, and from the costuming, she had something on under her shirts to keep things lifted and in place. And women ALWAYS wore a shift (like a camesole, but hip length) under the corset. It was considered unhealty to have the corset against the skin. The petticoat might be rotting away under the skirt (they generally were not washed), but the corset had something underneath. (?) I am not complaining, just something I have noticed about historical novels and sex sceens. Sometimes we take for granted what the undergarments were, and it can be difficult to do much research on it.

I liked that she wondered if he hadn't taken off his boots. Wow, Diego was impatient, and excited ;)

And I checked the few picture I could find. We now Mr. Regehr has chest hair. Sometimes it is more visible than others, probably based on lighting. (which is the only reason I can think of why his eyes look brown in some of his other work). I can see the same sprinkles of hair on his chest under the ruffled shirts. It doesn't show well in the one photo I could find, he was across the room, and it kind of just looks like dirt, or shadows. I'll have to go watch my DVD's and do more research. Darn the luck. BQ
