I like your choice of first name for Miss Parker, it is sophisticated and original.
This is a sad story. It is sad that Miss Parker lost contact with her friend, and then that she had to learn of the death of her friend this way -- by being invited to a reading of a will.
I wonder, however, if you are thinking of writing another chapter or other chapters to this story?
