"What... what are you doing?"
Sportacus froze and hurriedly put the container back into the fridge. He shut the door.
"Nothing," he said quickly.
Robbie regarded his back carefully, one eyebrow raised in suspicion. It most certainly was not nothing.
"Oh?" he questioned. He could practically see the elf's shoulders tense. He grinned.
"Did I catch you do something seeeeecret?" he teased. Sportacus turned around at that and started defending himself. Robbie didn't hear a word.
He was much too busy wondering why the hell the man's mustache was dripping with liquid. He stepped forward and as he came closer, he saw the elf's face was practically covered in it. Like he had dunked his head, face-first, into a vat of... he swiped some off with one finger and put it in his mouth, ignoring the protests from Sportacus.
Cream. Heavy cream. A slow grin spread across his face again and he looked down.
"I knew it," he started. Sportacus blushed and stuttered out a defense, looking simultaneously worried and annoyed.
"It's not what you think!"
"It's exactly what I think," Robbie went on. "Ooooh, what a dirty secret! Mr. Health has been dipping into the cream! Wait'll I tell the pack of brats!"
He was abruptly caged in by two strong bracer-clad arms to either side. Sportacus looked stressed.
"It's not my fault," he said flatly. "You're the one who HAD to have coffee. You're the one who pours so much sugar in it, and you're the one who bought the stuff. Not me. Not my fault." Robbie looked at him skeptically. If honey worked as alcohol, maybe cream was like... elf-crack? Because this one was certainly acting bizarre.
"I was joking," he said. Sportacus glanced furtively at the fridge, and his hands twitched in the direction. Robbie frowned and grabbed his hands. He grimaced. Sticky with the stuff. Disgusting.
"Why are you so weird?" he whined, dragging his elf over to the sink and running the water. "And what's with the sudden sloppyness? Normally you're a damned neat freak." Sportacus fidgeted uncomfortably while Robbie was wiping the sticky cream off, though he could do it himself.
"I can't help it," he muttered.
"Elf."
"Stop that!"
Robbie abruptly opened the fridge and took out the carton. He frowned a little at how light it was. Was... was he gulping this stuff down?
"I thought I told you it was for Isabella too," he complained, shaking the carton a little. Sportacus glanced away and fidgeted more. An evil idea struck Robbie at that moment.
"Speaking of which..." he purred, and reached into a cabinet, pulling out a saucer. "I feel like giving her some right now." He placed the small dish on the counter with show, and slowly poured some of the cream into the dish. Sportacus was glaring at him, but the affect was ruined by how often he kept glancing at the heavy liquid. Robbie replaced the carton in the fridge and sat down on a stool. He smirked at Sportacus.
"Aren't you going to get her?..." Sportacus asked quietly.
"She'll smell it."
Sportacus was tempted to say he could already smell it. Something simple in his mind was pleading, repeating, "Want. Yummy. Mine." He whimpered and shifted weight from one foot to another. Robbie watched him, his smirk growing wider by the second and by every miniscule way the sports elf wanted that treat.
Robbie Rotten had found what he was looking for: a weakness that didn't render him unconscious. And here it was.
It was a good day.
