eventual Alex/George, Burke/Christina, eventual
Derek/Meredith.. (the pairings might shift, I don’t
know ..., that depends on the flow of the story and the serie...,
the eventual Alex/George pairings will remain certain throughout the story even
though something might happen in the series to prove otherwise ^_~)
Grey’s Anatomy does not belong to me..., if it did
George would be totally admitting he’s gay ^_^
Note: This
is my first Grey’s Anatomy fic, I’m not that into
hospitals, doctors etc. so I might not know everything or write it the way it’s
suppose to if it is about surgeries, etc. I’ll try my best and when using some kind of
illness etc., I’ll try my best to find
information about it and write as realistic about it as I can. Also because I
live in the Netherlands
we are only just saw “What I am” from season 3 so this story will take off
after this episode. To keep it realistic I’ll try my best to put in part of the
following episodes and adjust the story to it somewhat.
Chapter one
Honestly what will become of me
don't like reality
It's way too clear to me
But really life is daily
We are what we don't see
Missed everything daydreaming
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
“Nelly
Furtado – All good things”
‘Waking up...’, george decided: was one of the things that, sadly enough
belonged to life, and sucked. Opening his eyes the events of the days before
seemed to rush back to him, making his stomach turn nervously and becoming an
emotional train of thoughts that he rather didn’t have. And it bothered him,
that instead of Callie, it was Isobel he thought of.
The blonde girl who had been sitting on the couch beside him,
broken and a crying heap. He had wrapped his arms around her, telling
her about the enormous sum of money she had been given by the man she had
wanted to marry. Over the time they had spend with each other he had become
very aware that she was someone who meant much to him, who was there when he
needed her and now he had to be there for her, beside her. And even though he
didn’t want to, he knew that Callie was right. Both Meredith and Izzie, and mostly the latter, would always come before her.
He lived with them, they were interns..., and most of
all they were his friends.
George pushed himself up, a tired groan escaping from
his lips. He rubbed a hand through his unruly chocolate coloured hair, messing
it up even more as he went along. Before pushing himself up to get ready he
sighed heavily, almost as if the whole weight of the world was upon his
shoulders.
“George!?”
The brunette man glanced at the closed door,
remembering that he had not locked it the day before. It had somewhat become a unspoken rule that it was not opened and no one barged it
like before. “Yes?” He asked, walking to his closet while hearing the door
open. The familiar voice of Meredith filled the room, breaking the former
silence.
“Hey George, how long are you going to take?” She
asked, placing her hands loosely on her hips, watching the other looking around
in the closet before picking up a simple blue sweater and a pair of light blue
jeans.
George turned to look at the blonde woman and
shrugged. “Fifteen minutes, ok?” He said in a somewhat weary voice. Either
Meredith was up early or he was up late. She seemed to have one of her more
cheerful days, a smile playing on her face while strands of blonde hair moved
around while she shifted a little, falling into her face. With a nod the other
left, leaving George once again alone and in the solitude of his own quiet
room.
He dressed as quickly as he could and made a quick
sprint to the bathroom where he found Izzie all ready
brushing her teeth. After the whole affair about her way of walking around the house
nothing had really changed, except that George was no longer shocked or taken
aback by the sight of the blonde woman prancing around in her ‘hello kittty’ underwear. The bright orange underwear did catch
his attention and the fact it was his toothbrush she was using did annoy him.
“Not again...” He whined, walking over to Izzie and
snatching the white toothbrush away from her. “I’ve been buying new ones
regularly, I’m a well known customer at the pharmacist now...” George muttered,
looking at it. He made a face, wrinkling his nose in disgust at the idea how
many bacteria were now covering his toothbrush.
Izzie rolled her eyes, sighing. “It’s officially safe to call that toothbrush
mine now..., I’ve been using it for four days.” She replied, taking it back
from the brunette man.
George raised an eyebrow, sending her a glare. “Four
days...?” He asked, watching her nod. “I’ve been brushing my teeth with a
toothbrush you have used for...four days.” He drew out the last two words,
taking his time before kneeling and taking a new toothbrush out of the cabinet
beneath the sink. “Four days...” He muttered beneath his breath, opening the
package which held a completely new green toothbrush.
Izzie watched him from above, looking down upon him. She rolled her eyes,
shaking her head in amusement while she continued brushing her teeth with
George’s toothbrush. The blonde girl watched herself in the mirror, pulling her
hair together while putting the toothbrush down. She leaned down to rinse her
mouth, listening to George’s babbling which were mostly drowned out by the
running water.
He pushed himself back up again, looking around for
the toothpaste. When he found it he grinned, taking it and putting some on his
toothbrush before looking at Izzie who was slowly getting
up. He pushed the brush inside of his mouth, brushing his teeth quickly when
realizing that Meredith was waiting for him downstairs.
He could all ready see her pacing around in the living
room, looking at her watch every two seconds to see what time it was. And when
he finally made his way downstairs, almost stumbling over the last three steps
she placed her hands on her hips, watching him.
Meredith’s gaze made him feel uneasy and the clumsy
man rubbed the back of his head, smiling weakly. “Sorry Izzie
was..., ah, sorry...”
The blonde woman chuckled, walking away, leaving
George standing there to follow her outside and into the car which was standing
in the front of the house.

George let a sigh escape his lips, resting his head
against the wall behind him. Sitting on one of the hospital beds, hiding from
the world within the white walls was something that was seriously depressing.
He had tried to avoid Callie, which, he found out, was actually rather easy.
Somehow it seemed that he was not only avoiding her, but she was also avoiding
him.
The brown haired man straightened his back when he
heard the door open, looking up to see who it was. He felt his body slump when
realizing it was only Alex entering the back room, probably searching for some
solitude just as he had done. “Hey...” He muttered softly, addressing the other
with mild interest.
Alex stopped dead in his tracks, the door falling
closed behind him. He had come here to be alone and instead he found a brooding
O’malley. “What are you here for?” He asked, walking
over to the brunette and sitting down beside him on the bed. Alex leaned back
against the wall, closing his eyes for a second, waiting
for the other to start talking. When the other didn’t say anything he turned
his head, opening his eyes to look at the man beside him. “O’malley?”
He tried, watching the other a little bored.
George lifted his head, staring at the wall across
from him. His eyes never left it, almost as if he was trying to burn holes into
it. He remained quiet for a long time, just staying silent while sitting beside
Alex. Eventually he parted his lips, wetting them before he started speaking.
“Hiding...” He said truthfully, before turning his head towards Alex. “You?”
Alex grinned, showing off some of his boyish charms.
“Same...,” He decided, keeping his eyes on the brunette. “Satan was horrible
but Sloan is trying to make me his next mini-me...” He explained, closing his
eyes again, leaning his head against the wall behind them. A groan escaped from
his lips and he shifted to make himself more comfortable. “He’s a total
jerk..., and here I was thinking I’d be better off being with him then
Addison...”
George couldn’t help but smile somewhat. “Callie
decided, for the both of us, it would be better if we..., if we quit.”
The other man raised an eyebrow, confused. “Callie? I
thought the two of you were...” He trailed off, not sure what to say. Of course
it was difficult not the notice the two but he never really thought all that
much about it before. He nervously chewed on the skin of his lower lip, keeping
himself from saying anything else.
“Apparently not...” George breathed. He straightened
himself for a second, groaning while he stretched. “Why do women have to be so difficult.” The brunette whined in a soft voice. When he sat back again he kept starting in front of himself,
feeling Alex’ eyes on him. When he was about to say something the door
opened, showing the familiar dark skinned woman, Dr. Bailey.
“Shouldn’t you two be working?” She said in a stern
voice, watching the two get up without a word and passing her quickly, leaving
the room.

“You were talking to Alex?”
George rolled his eyes, pushing the hand away that was
placed on his forehead. “So...?” He tried to defend himself, glaring at
Meredith.
The blonde woman shrugged, looking up when someone
else entered the dressing room. “He talked with Alex.” She said, looking at the
woman who just entered the room. When Meredith saw the look on Christina’s face
she couldn’t help but agree, chuckling.
“Residential asshole
Alex?” Christina asked, trying to get things straight. She
walked over to her locker, opening it before looking at the two. She started to
unbutton the blue shirt she was wearing, watching for a reply from either of
them.
George only rolled his eyes, confirming her words. He
rubbed the back of his head, not understanding what the two women were making
such a problem about. He had only talked to Alex, it
was not like they never talked to others. So Alex was a bit of an self-centred egoistic bastard and they had never really
gotten along, but he had been there and not all that bad to talk to. And that
had been all it was, they hadn’t even shared a proper conversation, it had been
more the information sharing type of thing.
“That’s the one.” Meredith said in a cheerful voice,
drawing George out of his reverie.
The brunette young man sighed and pushed himself up
from the bench he had been sitting on and walked to his locker, opening it, not
looking at the other’s. “He is an all right guy to talk to.” George said, not
understanding why he was even defending the other.
“Are you defending him, George?” Meredith asked,
walking over to the other and leaning against the lockers, crossing her arms in
front of her body. She looked at the other with a wondering look, almost
staring at him to try and pry the words out of him. When he said nothing she
felt her smile leaving, her lips becoming a stern line before she started
speaking. “George, is this a male seeking other male to hang with thing?”
George placed his bag on the ground before closing the
locker, pushing the door closed. He leaned against the lockers, standing
opposite off Meredith. “No..., it’s a all people have
their goods sides thing.” He tried to explain. One thing he definitely didn’t
want to do was to hang out with Alex, the other was and would always remain a
bit of an ass, even if he had his nice moments. “It probably was a one-time
conversation.” George mumbled, picking up his bag and moving it over his shoulder,
letting it hang against his side. He dug his hands in the pockets of his jeans,
watching the woman in front of him. “Seriously Meredith..., does Alex look like
the talking type?”
When the door opened it interrupted Meredith from
replying to the man. They all turned to look at the man entering the locker
room, the person they had been speaking about the last fifteen minutes. The
sudden silence was uncomfortable and it was easy for Alex to realize something
was wrong. All though he didn’t act upon it he looked somewhat confused and
shot glances at the three other interns every once now and then.
In the mean while both
Meredith and Christina left, leaving George and Alex standing alone in the
locker room. The brunette man turned to watch
Alex, trying to give some kind of explanation for the awkward silence. His
train of words escaped him when he saw Alex standing, turning towards his
locker, showing his tanned back. He let his eyes wander over the sight of the
other, taking in the tanned skin which moved over Alex’ muscles when he moved
his hands upwards to reach for something in his locker. George parted his lips
to speak, licking them before he cleared his throat and said a quick, nervous,
bye before leaving.
