Helena Wells was aware of Claudia’s crush, as these Americans’ call it. ‘Crush’: it was such a crude word. ‘Fancied’ seemed more appropriate and classy. Whatever it was called, Helena knew of it. Of course when Leena mentioned it, she made sure to act surprised. She managed to hide her grin as Myka seemed obsessed with asking how Helena was going to deal with it. This was her gift. It wasn’t being observant enough to see it; it was knowing how to use the knowledge to her benefit. Yes Helena knew exactly what to do with Claudia Donovan.
