Kuragari: So this is a new series I've decided to start. It's going to basically consist of different one shots(mostly) of some of my favorite pairings, starting of course with Jack and Ianto, but will go through a couple different shows. This is my first attempt at a songfic, which I don't have much experience with so if it's a little oddly paced, please forgive me. Relevant song: 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole. I pictured Jack and Ianto dancing to it and I just had to write something! "Ianto, you have a minute?" Jack called down from the upper level of the hub. His lover looked up at him with a raised eyebrow from where he stood with his coat and car keys. Gwen had left for the night a few minutes before and Ianto was just about to leave as well. "I'm headed home," he said, looking pointedly at the door of the hub. "It's been a long day, Jack." It was an unspoken agreement between the two men that 'it's been a long day' meant that Ianto really was tired and would spend the night in his flat rather than the hub with Jack. It didn't happen often but since 'sleeping with Jack' didn't tend to involve much actual sleeping, Ianto sometimes needed to rest in his own bed. Jack smiled and nodded but motioned at the stairs anyway. "I know, I know, but this'll only take a second. I promise." Ianto sighed, but when Jack smiled like that, there was very little the Welshman wouldn't do for him and he made his way to the upstairs office. His brow creased in confusion at the soft glow coming from behind the drawn blinds that was too low to be the office lights. He entered to the sight of dozens of candles scattered throughout the room, on the windowsills, the shelves, and the table which had been moved aside to leave a lot of floor space. Blue eyes trained on his lover, Jack dressed in his usual: dark slacks, Ianto's favorite blue shirt, and white suspenders. He turned to smile charmingly as Ianto set down his coat and his keys on the table. "Jack," he started, watching as Jack turned back to fiddling with what looked like a stereo. "What's going on?" "Nothing," Jack said, his 'I'm not up to anything' voice in place. "It's just... I was hoping... you could do something for me?" With that, he hit play on the stereo and spun around with a grin. Soft music began as he moved into Ianto's personal space. "Like what?" the welshman asked as Jack helped him remove his suit jacket and took his hand. "Dance with me," the Captain said, smiling and already pulling Ianto close to him. "Jack, I..." Ianto was about to protest, seeing as 'dancing' with Jack wasn't likely to just end there. "Just dancing, I promise..." he said, his smile sultry but his eyes honest. "...on one condition." Ianto rolled his eyes a little but allowed himself to be tugged to the middle of the room, an indulgent smile on his lips. "Oh? What might that be?" he asked as Jack began to sway them to the music. The Captain leaned close and breathed softly in his lover's ear. "Listen closely to the song." Ianto leaned back just enough to look into those blue eyes in confusion, but then the smooth tones of Nat King Cole surrounded them. 'Unforgettable, That's what you are. Unforgettable, Though near or far. Like a song of love that clings to me. How the thought of you does things to me.' He looked at Jack, really looked, and the emotions he found swimming in blue eyes nearly knocked him breathless. All the things that he didn't have to courage to say, the things that Jack couldn't bring himself to say, it was all there in his eyes. 'Never before, has someone been more.' Jack pulled him close again, pressing his form tightly to his lover's and slowly leading them around the room. His hand was steady on Ianto's back as he tucked his face into the welshman's neck and just held on to him. 'Unforgettable, in every way. And forevermore, that's how you'll stay.' It had always been an unspoken uncertainty between them. The fact that one day, Jack would have to face a life without Ianto. And it was a fear of Ianto's that years and years down the line, that Jack would forget about him. It seemed his secret fear wasn't as secret as he thought. He tightened his hold on the other man and swallowed hard around the lump in his throat. 'That's why, darling, it's incredible, That someone so unforgettable, thinks that I am unforgettable too.' Jack leaned back a little, gently tipped Ianto's face up to meet his eyes, and sang the last few lines to him. 'Unforgettable, in every way. And forevermore, that's how you'll stay. That's why, darling, it's incredible, That someone so unforgettable, thinks that I am unforgettable too.' Their lips found eachother as the song slowly faded, each trying to convey emotions they couldn't yet give voice. When at long last they broke apart, Ianto was smiling softly. "So... about that 'just dancing' thing," he began, looking through his lashes at Jack. The Captain grinned and brushed his lips briefly over his lover's. "I thought you were tired," he asked. "I guess I have a little more energy then I thought." "Oh yeah," Jack grinned, taking Ianto's hand and leading him towards the stairs. "Wait... what about the candles?" the welshman asked and Jack had to laugh. "Incredible romantic gesture about to be followed by equally incredible sex, and you're worried about the candles?" he asked and it was Ianto's turn to laugh. "I'm Welsh, remember?" he grinned. Jack pulled him in for another long, lingering kiss that left him breathless. "We won't burn down the hub," the Captain promised. "Besides, you really want me to take the time to put them all out?" Ianto grinned but shook his head and allowed himself to be pulled along. The next morning, Gwen was greeted with the smell of burnt plastic and a trail of clothes leading from the upstairs conference room, where Jack had her help set up candles last night, towards Jack's office. Jack and Ianto, however, were nowhere in sight. She just shook her head, a small smile on her lips, and made a mental note that they were going to need new blinds upstairs.
