Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers Zeo or any of the other series, nor do I make any profit from this fanfiction. I'm just here because I find it fun to write and torture other people's characters along with my own. |
A/N: Ok, so this is what happens when you go through a mild Power Rangers marathon whilst you’re also trying to figure out what to do with some original characters that refuse to work with you. It’s been forever since I’ve written anything other than original works, so I thought I’d give this idea a try. I’m setting this for modern times since even though I lived through the 90’s, I know I’ll forget what things happened then and what happened later, so I’ll just boost the time frame. Yes, I know it’s lazy, but I’d rather focus on the characters and their actions than making sure I use the right slang and remember that they didn’t have an abundance of cell phones. Either way, I hope you enjoy.

Jason ducked a cog that flew at him, and jerked up just in time to send it flipping over him. He let out a war cry as he traded punches with another. He hadn’t had the Gold Ranger power long, but he had certainly been getting good training in the field lately. Between the Machine Empire and Zedd and Rita’s crew, it felt like he and the other Rangers were constantly fighting. He sent yet another cog flying into a pair of its buddies that were ganging up on Tommy. Once he and the Red Ranger were free they nodded to each other and rushed at the newest monster robot. He couldn’t remember what the name of this one was and to be honest, it was pointless to try to keep track of them all. This one was ugly, trashed talked like an idiot, and sounded funny…just like all the others.
Just as he and Tommy got tossed by the annoying creation, the ground started to shake…but not because the monster was growing. The monster even let out a surprised squawk as it tried to keep its balance. Half of the cogs did fall over, along with Tanya and Adam, as they lost their balance from the quaking earth.
“What is it this time!?” Rocky exclaimed as he barely managed to stay on his feet.
“What are you pesky rangers doing!?” screeched the monster.
Tommy somehow managed to regain his footing even with the ground shaking so hard. “It’s not us, metal head! It has to be from your side!”
The monster opened its…mouth…or whatever it was that its voice was coming out of, but before a sound could come out a bright blue ball of light hit it and exploded. The monster was instantly vaporized, along with two and a half cogs that were closest to it.
“What the-? What was-,” Jason started, but was interrupted by a delighted laugh that was surprisingly musical. Instinct and experience told him it had to come from a new enemy, but the bright laughter was one that if he heard it anywhere else he’d like to hear more.
He and the other Rangers jerked their heads and bodies to face the sound. Over on the rocks nearby they saw two figures. The one standing was clearly the one who sent the shot that destroyed the monster though he was holding no weapon that he could see. He was just dropping his hand back down to his side when they caught sight of him, and the laughing female beside him. This new male was standing on the rock, grinning over his perfect shot and showing plenty of super sharp teeth. He was massive. He had to be at least 6’6”, was packed with solid muscle that would make a line backer jealous, and looked like a human/dragon hybrid. He had a head, two arms with human looking hands, and two legs that clearly had feet under those black leather boots; but his skin was a deep blue that faded to purple in certain areas, those hands had sharp claws, and he had a huge pair of wings along with a long tail that had a deadly looking blade-like fin on the end. His hair was deep red, short, but curled just a little at the ends, and his eyes were slate grey. He wore what looked to be black leather pants and a strange sort of silver armor over his chest and abs. The female was sitting primly on the rock beside the male. Her coloring was the same though she had a bit more purple in places, and her eyes were a bright, searing shade of silver. Her own dark red hair fell in soft looking waves down her back and was so long she was nearly sitting on it. Where he was massive, she was rather small…almost tiny, though it was hard to get an idea of her actual size with her sitting. She was also wearing an outfit just like the male’s.
She tilted her head to train her twinkling eyes on the male, but keep the Rangers and remaining cogs in her peripheral vision. “Nice shot, brother dearest.” Her accent was smooth, cultured, and caused her r’s to roll off her tongue in a way that Jason found disturbingly wonderful. “Now what do you plan to do with the rest of the little pests?” The Rangers and cogs as a whole took a sharp step back as she retrained those piercing eyes on all of them and flashed her sharp fangs on her own smirk.
“I think I’ll use all but one of the toy ‘bots for target practice. It would be nice and easy to leave at least one to tell that idiot Mondo that it’s time to get out of town. Wouldn’t you agree, sister mine?” His accent was the same as hers, his voice as deep as his size suggested, and just as surprisingly nice to hear. Jason could see the light shivers of Tanya and Kat as they responded to his voice.
“Mm,” at that seductive sound Jason had to fight a shiver, much to his confusion, “I like that idea.” She licked her lips in anticipation. “I think I would like to join you, even. And what shall we do with the rainbow brats?” She flashed her fangs at them along with another smirk.
“Leave them. We have no fight with them.” He trained his grey eyes on them and smirked. “Yet.” He raised his arm.
As he lifted his arm, she giggled and pushed herself off the rock. She floated in midair without the use of her wings as she raised her arm. “Oh goodie!” her voice showed her delight. “You’d best move, kiddies.” Before the rangers could really realize that she was talking to them, she and her brother started firing bright blue balls of energy at the cogs…from their hands!
Jason and his friends all cried out in shock and pain as they tried to run out of the way but were pushed from the resulting explosions when the balls of light hit all but one shivering, terrified cog. The one cog left in one piece tried to run, but the female was in front of him before the Rangers or the cog even realized she had moved. Now that she had, they could see she couldn’t have been taller than 5’2”. Jason was surprised at the shapely figure she had. The soft curves of her breasts and hips were small, but perfectly suited for her small stature and gave her an hour glass figure most human women would die for.
“Nah ah ah,” she wagged a finger at the cog. “You didn’t get our message. You can’t leave until you get our message to send to your King.” The cog was shaking so badly Jason could easily hear its insides literally quaking. It cowered down away from the female. The male grabbed the cog by the back of its neck and yanked it up as he turned it so the creation could look at him. He had also moved so quickly no one registered how he got to the cog. Its feet dangled off the ground but it was too terrified to even try to kick him or fight to get loose.
“Tell King Mondo that Princess Vada has arrived and he can either move his empire out of this solar system,” he began.
“Or be shipped out as scrap metal. It’s his choice,” the female finished. The cog nodded in its jerky, terrified way before the male tossed it…like a rag doll. After it landed the cog scrambled to its feet and teleported away as quick as it could. The two dragons then closed their wings about their bodies like cloaks; little claws on a joint in their wings working like hooks over their collarbones to hold their wings in place. They started to walk off, ignoring the Rangers.
“Wait!” Tommy called. “Who are you? We’d like to thank you!”
More of that musical laughter came and sent a curiously delicious shiver down Jason’s spine. “Bro…be careful. I’ve got a bad feeling about these two,” he warned his friend. Though, as he gazed at the female while she turned, he wasn’t as afraid of her as he was sure he should be. He could barely take his eyes off of her, and it wasn’t because he knew she was dangerous.
“You shouldn’t thank us, boy,” she started.
“We’ll be coming for you later,” her brother finished.
As his fellow Rangers gasped and cried out with their shocked and horrified responses, Jason found he couldn’t take his eyes off the female. “Why?” Out of all of them, his voice was strangely calm and level. He felt another shiver down his spine, along with a tightening in his gut as her silver eyes turned onto him. He felt as though she could see right through his helmet to his eyes and further, into his soul.
“Because you’re in our way,” both of them answered him in perfect unison.
“Our planet was refused to our mother,” he said.
“And we chose yours for our replacement,” she finished.
“It’s full of resources,” he stated.
“Has plenty of land and water,” her turn.
“Is out of the way from the over populated part of the galaxy,” his turn.
“And it’s beautiful,” her turn again.
“We want it,” both of them again. The way they spoke was a bit creepy. “You and Mondo are in our way.”
“Forget it!” Tommy yelled out for all of them. “You’ll never have Earth!”
Both of them just grinned at him, flashing those dangerous fangs again. “We’ll see about that, won’t we, boy?” And then they just disappeared. No flash of light or anything from teleporting, just one moment there, and a split second later they were gone without a trace.
“Oh man. This isn’t good guys,” was Tommy’s comment.
“Ya think?” came Rocky’s.
“We’d better get to the Command Center and see if Zordon knows what those creatures were.” Kat was ever the voice of reason.
“Good idea. Let’s go,” Adam agreed.
All the Rangers nodded at each other before preparing to teleport. Right before they headed off as bright lights to the Center, Jason looked at where the female was before she disappeared. He had a really weird feeling about her. The situation, he was familiar with, but that girl. . . Something was different this time. And he wasn’t sure it was a good thing.
