His eyes. Everyone had always talked about his eyes. They were maroon and reflected red pinpoints of light like a an unpolished ruby. In some lights they almost looked the color of a blood pool. Molten and dark. Will Graham often caught himself staring at them during his therapy sessions. Today Will sat in the chair across from Dr. Hannibal Lecter, moving nervously in his seat.
"Something the matter Will? You seem nervous."
Will noted Hannibal writing something on the pad he held on his lap.
"I'm not really sure. I went out with this girl last night."
Hannibal leaned back in his chair. His eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Well please, tell me how it was." Hannibal's voice was mellow and eventoned. His slight accent made the words he formed much more eloquent than had they been spoken by anyone else.
Will shifted again in his chair. He mused his dark curls back from his forehead.
"Well she was very pretty. I met her through a mutual friend. Someone I used to student teach with. Very bright. Works for one of the top publishers in Virginia. We had drinks at a divey bar just outside of town."
Hannibal looked up from his writing. His eyes filled with curiosity.
"Did anything happen Will?"
Will wanted to avoid that question all together if possible. Hannibal cocked his head to one side and pursed his lips.
"She came back to my house. She gave me every opportunity to make a move but....I couldn't."
Hannibal was writing again. Will felt defeated. His sex life had never been anything to brag about. He was awkward around women. Even in his later age now he found sex to be a difficult subject to talk about, with any one. Hannibal dropped his pad of paper and pen on the table and leaned forward in his chair. His maroon eyes caught the light.
"Will I would like to try something but you have to trust me."
