Liam sat in the kitchen munching on a grilled cheese sandwich. Natalie and Sam came in, and Natalie gave Sam a little push. “Go on. He won’t bite unless you ask nicely,” she chuckled.
Liam looked up at Sam a little confused. “Hey, Liam, how you doing today?” Sam looked a little nervous about something.
Liam sighed. “Still got a giant aching hole where my heart used to be. You?”
“Same,” Sam nodded. “But, we gotta keep living, you know?”
“I know. Did you want something, or are you practically sweating bullets because the heat is turned up too high?”
“You really are perceptive,” Sam chuckled nervously and looked to Natalie who gave him a little nod. “Um, I know this is out of blue, and probably way inappropriate, but… Do you remember way back when I lost the rabbit’s foot and we just sat in that hotel room talking?”
“Kinda, but what’s that got to do with the price of oranges in China?”
“If you remember, I confessed to being a little curious about being with a man. And well, I still have that curiosity.”
“And you have questions? Sam, I don’t know what you’re so nervous about. Ask away. We live together, we’ve been hunting together… I know I’m not your real brother, but it kind of feels like I’m the adopted brother.”
“Right, yeah, I feel the same way. I just have one question though. Like my brother shortly after we met you, a little while ago I had this dream.”
“About me?”
“No, not about you exactly. I didn’t see a face, but… Natalie and I have talked about this, and I was just wondering if you would be willing to make my dream a reality. Liam, you’re the only gay man I know that I trust with this.”
“I see,” Liam blinked, very surprised. He looked to Natalie. “And you would be completely okay with this?”
“Yes,” she nodded. “I mean, if you were another woman I’d kill him, but… It’s actually kinda hot.”
“Ah, you’re one of those kinds of women,” Liam chuckled.
“Guilty as charged,” she laughed. “I’d love to watch, and I’ve known you long enough to know you wouldn’t care, but poor Sam is nervous about this as is, so… What do you say?”
“Oh, what the hell,” Liam sighed. “Come on, Sam,” Liam got up from the table.
Sam’s jaw hit the floor. “Right now?”
“Why not?” Liam shrugged. “Did you have other plans?”
“No, but I just thought...”
“You wanna do this or not?”
Sam got up and followed Liam to the bedroom. Liam pulled out his trusty bottle of lube and handed it to Sam who seemed very tense. “Lesson number one, you’re gonna need that stuff or this won’t be very pleasant for either of us. Lesson number two, relax. Breathe a little.”
Liam started to undress and Sam just stood there staring. Liam shook his head with a little smile. “Lesson number three, while doing this with clothes on is possible, it’s a lot easier if you take them off. Come on, you’ve seen me naked before because I don’t give a crap, and I’ve caught glimpses of you, so...”
“Right,” Sam nodded as he started to undress himself.
Soon the two men were standing face to face naked and just staring at each other. “So, how do we um…?”
Liam chuckled. “Given recent events I thought you understood the mechanics of sex.”
“I do,” Sam said quickly. “With a woman anyway.”
“Same mechanics, just a different hole. How do you want me?”
“This is really fucking weird that I’m asking this, but how did you Dean usually do it?”
“He liked me on my back so he could look into my eyes.”
“Okay,” Sam nodded. “Let’s do it that way then.”
Liam shrugged and climbed onto the bed lying down on his back and spreading his legs. “Do I just…?”
“Breathe, slick yourself up, and go slow. My body may be used to it, but it’ll still hurt me if you go too awful fast.”
Sam nodded and squirted lube into his hand. Then he started stroking himself with it, his cock coming to life. “I can’t actually believe I’m really doing this,” he shook his head as he climbed onto the bed.
“It was your crazy idea, I’m just going along with it.”
Sam got into position, already breathing heavily. He pushed forward and sank inside Liam. “Am I hurting you?” he asked.
“No,” Liam shook his head. “You’re good. Just relax and feel.”
Sam started pumping his hips and Liam whimpered as his prostate was hit. “Oh, yeah, keep it right there,” Liam moaned. Then he grabbed one of Sam’s hands and put it on his own cock. “Be a little considerate.”
Sam nodded and started stroking him. Liam closed his eyes to concentrate on the good sensations and Sam leaned down to kiss him. Liam returned the kiss and moaned into his mouth. Sam picked up the pace, looking down into Liam’s eyes, his own glazed over in pleasure. A few minutes later Liam cried out and arched his back as he climaxed, his muscles clamping around Sam. Sam’s eyes widened and he soon fell over the edge himself.
When Sam came down he pulled out and fell down next to Liam to catch his breath. “Liam, that felt really good, but it was weird.”
“Yeah,” Liam agreed.
“No offense, but I don’t wanna ever do that again.”
“None taken, me either.”
They cleaned up and got dressed again. “Was your curiosity satisfied?” Liam asked.
Sam nodded. “I’m still wondering why you like it, but I don’t think the guy on guy thing is for me. It’s not you,” he added quickly.
“It’s okay, Sam,” Liam gave him a little smile. “You wanted to try it, you did, and it’s not your thing. Women aren’t my thing, and that’s okay.”
“And you really don’t think guy on guy is a sin?”
“No,” Liam snorted. “I really don’t think God cares who you screw as long as it’s consensual. Absolutely nothing wrong with what we just did. It’s my body and I let you fuck it. It’s all good.”
“Yeah,” Sam nodded. “That’s a good way to look at things. It is your body.”
They went back downstairs and the doorbell rang. Liam went to answer it, and his heart jumped up and started pounding in his throat when he saw Dean standing there with Bobby behind him. “Hey, Liam,” Dean said with a smile on his face and tons of emotion in his eyes.
Liam grabbed Dean and flipped him onto the floor and grabbed the silver knife they started keeping by the door and went to slash the Dean impersonator’s throat. Bobby caught his arm just as the point of the knife pressed into Dean’s throat. “Liam, it’s really him!” Bobby insisted. “I’ve been through this already. He cut himself with silver and I splashed holy water on him. Cut him a little with silver yourself if it’ll make you feel better, but in a non vital place please.”
Liam inhaled deeply, trying to calm himself as he roughly grabbed Dean’s forearm and made a little slice on the underside. Blood started pooling on the skin, but that was all that happened. Dean looked up into his eyes. “It’s really me, Babe. I look fantastic, huh?”
Liam grabbed Dean’s shirt and pulled him in for a kiss. Then he leaned back and punched Dean hard in the jaw before kissing him again and moving to let him up. Dean got to his feet, rubbing his jaw. “Boy, you really run hot and cold, don’t you?”
“Dean,” Sam shook his head. “This is kind of a really emotional and confusing moment,” Sam said with tears in his eyes as he moved to embrace his brother.
“I know, Sammy,” Dean hugged him back then pulled away. “But let’s get right down to business. What did it cost? Was it one of your souls, or something much worse?”
“You think one of us made a deal?” Sam blinked.
“That's exactly what we think,” Bobby answered, looking serious.
“Well I didn’t,” Sam insisted.
“Liam?” Dean glared at him. “And don’t lie to me.”
Liam sighed and his shoulders dropped. “I tried, alright? All the crossroads demon did was ask me how stupid I thought she was and she disappeared. Something about I already have a contract.”
“You what?” Dean looked shocked. “You already have a contract? Why the hell didn’t you tell me this before?”
“Because I honestly have no idea what the fuck she was talking about! Unless I did it when I was too young to remember, I’ve never made a deal with a demon in my life.”
“Dean, we tried everything we could think of to save you,” Sam said. “You have no idea how many hours I sat at my laptop and Liam and Natalie were in the library. We found less than squat. We gave up like a month ago and have been hunting Lilith for payback instead.”
Dean looked back and forth between them. “If neither of you did it, then why the hell am I here instead of…?”
Sam sighed. “I really don’t know, but are you actually going to complain?”
Dean gave a little shrug. “That depends on what strings are attached. There are always strings when it comes to something like this, and right now I don’t know what they are or who’s holding them, so yeah, I’m a little concerned. Where’s Natalie, by the way?”
“She’s at the doctor. She’s...” Sam sighed.
“She’s what?” Dean looked concerned. “It’s nothing bad, is it?”
“That depends on your point of view,” Sam said.
“Then what? Is she sick?”
“She has been lately, yes, because she’s pregnant.”
“Oh my god!” Dean’s eyes went wide and he smiled. “Why aren’t we happier about this?” he asked when he looked at Sam’s face.
“When were you going to tell me this, son?” Bobby looked a little slighted.
“Bobby, I’m sorry, I was going to tell you, really. I’ve only known for about three weeks, and I’m still trying to come to terms with it.”
“They only told me because I heard them arguing about it,” Liam shot Sam a look.
“Sam, why were you arguing over a baby?” Dean asked. “You don’t look happy, and this is supposed to be a good thing.”
Sam huffed. “Dean, look at our lives. We’re always leaving on jobs we could get killed at any time on. I could be dead before the kid is born. A man is supposed to take care of his child, but I don’t get paid for my job, so I can’t. Natalie completely supports me, and now to add a kid to the burden she carries? I can’t be any kind of decent father, Dean.”
Dean put a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “Listen to me, Sam, the fact that you care enough to think about these things tells me that you can. Our dad was a hunter, and he did the best he knew how. He didn’t exactly win father of the year, but we still loved him. You’re going to do the best you know how too, and that kid is gonna love you just like we loved our dad.”
Bobby put a hand on Sam’s other shoulder. “Kid, if you would’ve come to me sooner about this I would’ve told you the same thing Dean just did. I know you can’t provide the physical things a baby needs, but you can give it love. Hell, all of us can, and we will.”
Liam nodded. “This is what I’ve been trying to pound into your skull for the past three weeks. Natalie is far from destitute. I’ve seen her bank book because I’m a nosy little bastard. She knows the kind of life you lead, and that you’re not around much and you’re broke, but she still wants to have the baby because it is part of you and she loves you. You are not the first hunter to get a woman pregnant. Jason had Alice and Michael. Alice’s son Curtis had Missy. They made it work the best they could. Hell, you should’ve seen the looks on Alice and Michael’s faces every time we walked in the door.” Liam smiled a little at the thought. “They used to shout out ‘Daddy!’ and run right to him and jump on him. He never had anything to give them, but they really didn’t care. They were just really happy to see their daddy.”
Sam nodded, a tear running down his cheek that he quickly wiped way. “Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the support because I need it. I’m scared.”
“Most first time parents are,” Bobby gave him a little smile. “I would be more concerned if you weren’t.”
“Yeah,” Liam sighed. “I will never find myself in your shoes, but I’m always very happy to the play the doting uncle.”
“Speaking of which,” Dean said. “Since I have returned, you and I, are we…?”
Liam answered him with a tender kiss. “I don’t know why you’re here now, but I am very glad you are.”
“Okay, enough of this emotional crap,” Sam said. “You guys want a beer or something?”
“Always,” Dean smiled.
Sam went to the kitchen and came back with three beers, handing one to Bobby and Dean, and keeping the third for himself. “So, what do we do now?” Sam asked, taking a sip. “We got a pile of questions and no shovel. We need help.”
“I know a psychic a few hours from here,” Bobby said. “Something this big, maybe she's heard the other side talking.”
“Hell yeah, it's worth a shot,” Dean nodded.
“Yeah,” Sam nodded. “Just let me call Natalie and fill her in. She is really not gonna believe this.”
“She's about four hours down the Interstate. Try to keep up,” Bobby said as they all headed outside and he got in his car.
“I assume you'll want to drive,” Sam tossed Dean the keys to the Impala.
“Oh, I almost forgot!” Dean chuckled. “Hey, sweetheart, did you miss me?” he said to the car as he ran a hand over the top.
“It pulls a bit to the right,” Liam said as he got in back.
Dean glared at Sam. “You let him drive my car?”
Sam shot him a look. “One, I thought it was my car now. Two, yeah, he drives now. Natalie hired an instructor to teach him. Actually, she hired five because the first four quit in fear for their lives,” he chuckled.
“Hey!” Liam shouted defensively. “I wasn’t that bad!”
Sam glanced back at him. “There are a few trees in the neighborhood that would beg to differ.”
“He hit trees in my baby?” Dean looked very upset.
“Relax,” Sam laughed. “Natalie bought him a clunker to learn in. I didn’t give him the keys to your baby until he was competent.”
“So, uh, you find much on Lilith?” Dean asked while he drove down the road.
“No,” Sam shook his head. “I think for some reason something has her pretty scared.” He made a subtle movement with his head motioning to Liam which Dean caught and nodded. “Do you, um, remember anything about hell?”
“Not really,” Dean shrugged. “I just remember a gold flaming sword and getting splattered with demon guts. A flash of it, that’s it.” Sam and Dean glanced at each other and then Dean noticed Liam with a weird look in his eye. “You okay back there, Babe?”
“Yeah,” Liam answered quickly. “Just thinking about a couple of really weird dreams I had.”
Bobby led them to a house and they got out to knock on the door. A pretty dark haired woman in her thirties answered. “Bobby!” she greeted him with a hug.
“You're a sight for sore eyes,” Bobby smiled back at her.
“So, these the boys?” she asked, giving them a once over.
“Sam, Dean, and Liam, this is Pamela Barnes, best damn psychic in the state.”
“Dean Winchester,” she smiled. “Out of the fire and back in the frying pan, huh? Makes you a rare individual. Come on in.”
“So, you hear anything?” Bobby asked as they entered the house.
“Well, I Ouija'd my way through a dozen spirits. The spirit world is a little on edge because around the same time Dean went downstairs something big and bad got very angry. No one seems to know who broke your boy out, or why though. However, when Dean made his reappearance big and bad was suddenly pacified.” She turned to Dean. “Something pretty high on the food chain wanted you back here in the worst way. Don’t know what, but I intend to find out.”
“How?” Dean asked.
“A seance, I think. See if we can see who did the deed.”
“You're not gonna summon the damn thing here,” Bobby looked a little worried.
“No. I just want to get a sneak peek at it. Like a crystal ball without the crystal.”
Dean looked a little worried. “Pamela, could I have a word with you in private?”
“Sure,” she looked a little confused. “We can go in my bedroom.”
He followed her and when the door was closed told her everything he knew about Liam’s true identity. “Whoa...” she sank down on her bed looking a little shell shocked.
“I’m telling you this in private because he doesn’t have a clue when he’s awake and he can’t know. Only thing I remember from the pit is him in a serious rage. It was honestly pretty scary. You think maybe he did it and just doesn’t know he did?”
“I don’t know, maybe,” she shrugged. “He definitely sounds like the angry big and bad everyone is afraid of though. What does he look like?”
“Tall Egyptian guy with blood red hair and irises. Really, he’s a very sweet guy when he’s happy, but when he gets mad, holy fucking hell...”
She nodded. “If I see it was him, I’ll um, say it was an old Egyptian god, which from what you told me is true, but that way he won’t know.”
“Thanks,” Dean nodded and gave her a little smile.
They went back out to her living room with everyone staring at them. “I just had a very silly but very personal question to ask the lady,” Dean tried to explain.
She set up the séance table and they all gathered around it holding hands. “I need to touch something our mystery monster touched,” Pamela said to Dean.
Dean nodded and rolled up his shirt sleeve to reveal a hand shaped brand on his upper arm. Pamela put her hand on it and closed her eyes. Everyone else closed their eyes too and she began to chant. “I invoke, conjure, and command you, appear unto me before this circle,” she said over and over several times. “Castiel?” her features scrunched. “No. Sorry, Castiel, I don't scare easy.”
Liam’s eyes snapped open. “Um, something tells me we should stop now.”
The TV flicked on to white static and the table shook. “I conjure and command you, show me your face,” she continued to chant.
The shaking became more violent. “Maybe we should listen to Liam and stop,” Bobby suggested.
“I almost got it,” she shook her head. “I command you, show me your face! Show me your face now!”
Suddenly the candles flared up really high and Pamela screamed. Her eyes flew open and they were filled with white flames. Then she collapsed and everything stopped. “Call 911!” Bobby shouted as he ran to check on her. She was alive, but her eyes were burnt out.
Bobby went to the hospital with Pamela and Sam, Dean, and Liam went to a diner for a bite. “What'd Bobby say?” Dean asked when Sam got off the phone with Bobby.
“Pam's stable. And out of ICU.”
“And blind, because of us,” Dean shook his head.
“And we still have no clue who we're dealing with,” Sam sighed.
“We got a name. Castiel, or whatever. With the right mumbo jumbo we could summon him, bring him right to us,” Dean said.
“You're crazy. Absolutely not,” Sam shot him a look.
“I’m with Sam,” Liam nodded. “My gut is saying that’s a very bad idea.”
“Either of you got a better idea?” Dean looked back and forth between his companions.
“Maybe we go demon hunting,” Sam suggested. “Someone's gotta know something about something.”
The waitress brought out a slice of pie for Dean and sat down by the table. “Can we help you?” Dean asked, looking a little annoyed.
“I'm sorry. Thought you were looking for us,” she said as her eyes went black for a second. Everyone in the place besides them had black eyes. “Dean. To hell and back. Aren't you a lucky duck,” the waitress smirked at him. “So you get to just stroll out of the pit, huh? Tell me. What makes you so special?”
“I like to think it's because of my perky nipples,” Dean chuckled. “I don't know. Wasn't my doing, I don't know who pulled me out. But I'd like to find out, so if you wouldn't mind enlightening me, Flo...”
“Mind your tone with me, boy. I'll drag you back to hell myself.”
“No, you won't,” Dean looked confident.
“No?” she raised an eyebrow.
“No. Because if you were you would have done it already. Fact is, you don't know who cut me loose, and you're just as spooked as we are. You're looking for answers. Well, maybe it was some turbo charged spirit. Or, uh, Godzilla. Or some big bad boss demon. I'm guessing at your pay grade that they don't tell you squat. Whoever it was, they want me out, and they're a lot stronger than you. So go ahead. Send me back. But don't come crawling to me when they show up on your front doorstep with some Vaseline and a fire hose.”
“I'm going to reach down your throat and rip out your lungs,” she growled and leaned forward.
“That’s enough!” Liam shouted.
The waitress leaned back. “Sorry, big boy. Just do us a favor and step away from the sharp objects,” she motioned with her eyes to the fork by his hand.
“Let’s go,” Liam sighed and they all three got up and walked out.
When they were out on the street Liam turned to Sam who was breathing heavily and looked shaken up. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I just...” he swallowed hard. “We were surrounded and unarmed and… I was thinking about...”
Liam put an arm around him. “Sweetheart, you wanna stay alive for Natalie and that baby, you can’t panic. You gotta stay focused.”
Sam nodded. “Yeah, I know.”
“They're scared,” Dean said. “Scared of whatever had the juice to yank me out. We're dealing with a bad mofo here.”
“That worries me too,” Sam admitted.
“Yeah, well, when Bobby gets back we’re summoning this thing.”
“You can't be serious!” Sam shouted.
“As a heart attack. It's high noon, baby.”
“Well, we don't know what it is. It could be a demon, it could be anything.”
“That's why we've got to be ready for anything.”
“This is a bad idea,” Liam shook his head. “And my gut is very rarely wrong.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Dean sighed. “But whatever dragged me out has an agenda. I've got no place to hide. I can either get caught with my pants down, or we can make our stand. Sammy, if you wanna go hide somewhere safe I won’t hold it against you, but I’m doing this.”
“No,” Sam said with determination. “I’m not letting you face this alone.”
When Bobby came back Dean argued with him about it as well, but Bobby caved. They found an empty warehouse and Bobby and Liam began drawing every symbol they could think of on the walls and floor. “That's a hell of an art project you've got going there,” Dean commented.
“Traps and talismans from every faith on the globe,” Bobby said. “How you doing?”
“Stakes, iron, silver, salt, knife. I mean, we're pretty much set to catch and kill anything I've ever heard of,” Dean looked to all the weapons laid out on a table.
“This is still a bad idea,” Liam said.
“Yeah, I heard you the first ten times. What do you say we ring the dinner bell?”
Bobby nodded reluctantly and went over to another table to start the summon ritual. Nothing seemed to happen. They all stood around just looking at each other. “You sure you did the ritual right?” Dean asked Bobby, who shot him a glare. “Sorry...” Dean held up his hands.
Suddenly the roof started to rattle. “Wishful thinking, but maybe it's just the wind,” Dean said as he looked up. Then suddenly Liam collapsed to the ground unconscious. “Liam!” Dean shouted and ran over to him.
“Over here,” a familiar voice said from behind them. They all turned to see Astiratu standing there.
“You did all this?” Dean’s eyebrows raised. “You blinded Pamela?”
“No, I didn’t,” Astiratu insisted. “But I have an idea of what did.”
“Oh? And what is that?”
“An angel.”
“Right,” Dean scoffed.
“I’m serious. In their true forms they can be a little much for humans to take in. As for why I was summoned here I haven’t a clue. I tried to get you out, Dean, but I couldn’t do it.”
As if on cue a handsome dark haired man in a suit and trench coat appeared in the door. Dean and Bobby raised their guns to fire, but Astiratu raised a hand to halt them. “Castiel,” Astiratu gave the man a little nod.
“Astiratu,” he nodded back. “Long time no see, not that I’ll complain.”
Astiratu snorted and smirked. Dean took a bold step forward. “Are you really an angel?”
“Yes,” the man nodded. Lightning flashed and the shadows of wings appeared on the wall.
“Some angel you are,” Dean scoffed. “You burned out that poor woman's eyes.”
“I warned her not to spy on my true form. It can be at bit overwhelming to humans, and so can my real voice. But you already knew that.”
“You mean the gas station? That was you talking? Buddy, next time, lower the volume.”
“That was my mistake. Certain people, special people, can perceive my true visage. I thought you would be one of them. I was wrong.”
“And what visage are you in now, huh? What, holy tax accountant?”
“This?” he looked down at himself. “This is a vessel.”
“You're possessing some poor bastard?”
“He's a devout man, he actually prayed for this.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” Astiratu growled. “Now, for the important question. Why was I ripped from my nice and comfy personal meat suit for this little meet and greet?”
Castiel looked at him. “To receive your present.”
“Present? You mean him?” Astiratu pointed to Dean.
“Yes, him. You see, when you argued with God for his life months ago you made quite a convincing case.”
“Well, duh,” Astiratu rolled his eyes. “I always do when I care enough to open my mouth.”
“You argued with God for me?” Dean looked a little impressed.
“Yes,” Astiratu nodded. “But don’t read that much into it. About ninety percent of my conversations with my creator are arguments. The other ten percent are Him just flat out screaming at me. Anyway, I was told no and he was taken from me anyway, so what the hell?”
“You were told no because he did make the deal of his own free will. He is just a human and God does not go around handing out get of jail free cards. He had to pay for what he did, at least a little. And you, your hasty actions are what led to the deal being made in the first place. The only way you seem to learn lessons is the hard way, so you too had to be punished a little. But the point is, you were heard. As of the day before yesterday God decided you had both learned your lessons, and I was sent to bring him back to you.”
“Well, good. Thank you.”
“So, God let me out?” Dean asked. “No strings attached because my mouthy half angel boyfriend made a really good argument? Sweet.”
“Oh, but there is one string attached.”
“Just super,” Dean shook his head. “Lay it on me, pal. What do I have to do now?”
“You have to fight the coming apocalypse with Astiratu. That is not the real string though. The fact remains you did give up all rights to your own soul. Someone has to hold your contract, Dean. That was the demon Lilith. Now it is held by Astiratu.”
Astiratu blinked. “Like, seriously? Just like that he’s my bitch? Ooh...” He turned to Dean with an evil glint in his eyes.
Dean swallowed hard. “I think I’m a little scared now.”
Castiel chuckled. “I have known Astiratu since he was created. You should be, my friend. Just remember, Astiratu, you still have a contract of your own. You remain Jesus’ bitch, as you put it.”
“Well, thank you captain obvious!”
“That’s the contract you already have?” Dean asked curiously.
“In my human body I don’t remember it, but yes. After His little adventure on earth, I signed a contract with Him. It’s not so bad. I still get to do pretty much whatever the hell I want in the angelic realms as long as I don’t break any major rules.”
“Unfortunately,” Castiel snorted. “Giant pain in the rear...”
“Oh, Castiel, you love me and you know it.” He moved over to pet Dean’s head. “And don’t worry, my little cabbage. I would never hurt you. However...” He tilted his head and suddenly Dean was standing there in a pink ballerina outfit complete with tutu. Astiratu started cackling.
“Oh, come on!” Dean shouted and stomped his foot. “I made that deal for you! The least you can do is leave me with a little dignity.”
Astiratu sighed and blinked, and Dean was back in his normal clothes. “Spoil sport.”
“Thank you!” Dean huffed.
Astiratu looked over to his body on the ground. “Well, Castiel, tell Daddy thank you for me. Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to get back to my vessel. It’s a bit restrictive, but now that it is human again I kind of like it in there.”
Castiel nodded. “A human body in the physical plane does have its comforts. Even more so I imagine when you don’t have to share it.”
“Yep, I get my very own. Suck on that,” Astiratu smirked as he disappeared.
Liam groaned and opened his eyes. Castiel was gone. “What happened?” Liam asked as he picked himself up off the floor.
Dean moved to help him the rest of the way up. “It was an angel, Babe. I guess God decided I was needed here for what’s coming, so he sent the angel Castiel to bring me back. I was a demon’s bitch, now I’m an angel’s bitch.”
“That doesn’t sound too bad,” Liam gave him a little smile. “But why did I pass out?”
“I don’t know. I guess the presence of an angel, even in some poor bastard’s vessel can be a little much for some people to take. Anyway, let’s go back home.”
“Bobby, I’m sure Natalie wouldn’t mind if you crashed at the house instead of driving all the way back tonight,” Sam said.
“You sure?” Bobby asked.
“Yeah, I mean, there’s plenty of room. You’re family to Dean and I, and she’s very big on family.”
They drove back to the house and when they came in Natalie threw herself into Dean’s arms. “Oh, it’s so good to see you again!”
“You too,” he smiled at her. “It’s really good to see everybody again.”
“Did you find out what happened?”
“Yeah. Sam will fill you in later. Speaking of which, he told us the big news. Congratulations.”
“Oh, thanks,” she smiled. “It wasn’t exactly in the plan book, but you know, these things happen. You wanna see the sonogram?”
“You kidding me, of course I do! How far along are you anyway?”
“Only ten weeks,” she said as she grabbed an envelope and pulled out the picture that everyone gathered around to see. “You can’t really see much at this point, but, Sam Junior is that little blob right there,” she said pointing to a two inch spot.
“Oh, wow...” Dean smiled at it. “I can sort of make out the shape even. This is so freaking cool.”
Sam couldn’t help the little smile that appeared on his face while looking at it. “It is, isn’t it?”
Natalie put her hand on his shoulder. “Sweetie, I was too tired to make dinner, but if you guys are hungry there’s pizza in the kitchen. I’m sorry, but picking up the phone book was all I really felt like doing tonight.”
“Don’t apologize,” Sam kissed her cheek. “You’re growing a person. If I was doing that I’d be tired too.”
“Pizza and beer sounds great to me,” Dean said as he headed to the kitchen.
“Oh, you don’t mind if Bobby stays the night, do you?” Sam asked. “I offered because it was late and it’s a pretty far drive for him.”
“Why would I mind? You said he’s like a second father to you, so of course he’s welcome to stay. As soon as you’re ready for bed just pick a guest room. I am completely wiped, so I’m going to bed now.”
When Sam came up to join her he woke her up so he told her everything. “So, your brother is still on the hook, it’s different person holding the line?”
“Yep, and I don’t envy him.”
“But Astiratu wouldn’t hurt him, would he?”
“Hurt him, no. Use him for personal amusement… probably. Let’s just say I now know what my brother looks like in a tutu.”
Natalie giggled. “He didn’t...”
“Oh, he did, and found it hilarious.”
Natalie smiled and caressed Sam’s cheek. “I’m really glad you got your brother back. You need him now.”
“Yeah, I do,” Sam nodded. “I told him what we argued about, and he just has this way of talking me down, you know? Between him, Bobby, and Liam repeating himself, I feel better now. I mean, I’m still scared as hell, but...”
“I’m a little scared too, but at least we can be scared together.”
She leaned in to kiss him passionately and he pulled back. “Not that I don’t want to, but are you sure we should?”
“Sweetie,” she ran her fingers through his hair, “the doctor said it should be fine as long as we’re not too awful rough.”
“Okay,” Sam nodded and started kissing her again.
