Adam glanced over at Lydia resting in a hospital bed, a sight out side of when she had children he hoped he would never see. Tommy was still on edge from the thought of finding his daughters head in their oven, he jumped when Adam placed his hand on his shoulder. Tommy rested his head against Adam’s side, Haylee walked into the room her breath yanked from her chest as looked at the child that thrived at the heart of both her best friends’ worlds.

“Oh god” she whispered tears filling her eyes Adam looking up at her motioning her over, she walked over wrapping her arms around the two of them. “Thank you for coming” Tommy said almost breathlessly Haylee only nodded as she asked “What have they told you?”

“We don’t really know we won’t until she wakes up.” Adam said rubbing his husband’s back Haylee only shook her head, as she looked at the young girl almost unrecognizable.

“I called Kira, she’s coming with Connor.” Haylee said as she held her cell phone in her hand. “I called Anton also; he’s supposed to get in touch with Elsa.” The three jumped at a knock at the door.

“Detective Pike, have you found anything at the house?” Adam asked as the tall older man entered the room. He gave a solemn nod as he handed the overlooked note to Tommy, he and Adam both reading it quickly. Tommy only sighed as he got up about to walk out when Haylee grabbed his arm. “There’s something you need to know, please sit back down.”

The detective looked at her as he asked, “Is it something that could be connected to this?”

Before she could answer, Connor knocked at the door Kira beside him near tears at the sight of her unadopted little sister. “Hey Connor” Tommy said softly “Dr. O, There’s something you and Mr. Park really need to see.” Kira said as she sat down pulling out a laptop searching for the site she had been desperately trying to take down. Kira shook her head as she turns the laptop to the new couple. “Riley made it, we can’t get it down, and Ethan’s even trying.” Detective Pike gestured to the laptop Adam turning it to him.

“Stop your friend, we can use this and make a hate crime and bullying case.” Kira nodded as she walked out side with her cell phone in hand. “Was this what you had wanted to share?” Detective Pike asked Haylee. She only shook her head, as she said “No, there was a fight between Lydia and Riley at Tommy and Adam’s wedding.”

“What was the fight about?” the detective asked as Adam said, “He didn’t approve of our relationship. He told Lydia she was no friend to him for supporting a couple of faggots.” Detective Pike nodded as he wrote down the information, as Adam added, “She said she slapped him for saying that.” Connor nodded as he added “And in return he threw a rock hitting her in the back of the head Haylee and I had witness to that part.”

“She had to have stitches, and I gave them to her.” Haylee said as the Detective asked, “Do you have a license to do so?” Haylee nodded as she pulled out a small card with information, he nodded as he said “Thank you Doctor.”

“I think I may have more information for you Detective.” Kira said a boy about Lydia’s age stood by her side he gave a light wave to the group of people in the room as Kira gentle nudged him in as the Detective asked “What’s your name son?” The boy seemed a little nervous as he said “Akio Lee” He was dress in dark jeans and a black shirt his navy color backpack slung over his shoulder his black hair swept across his face.

“What do you have for us Akio?” The Detective asked softly. The boy sat down next to Adam and Tommy searching on an Ipod for a file. “It’s a video, I was helping one of my friends learn Japanese when the fight happened, I didn’t mean to record it.” Akio said as he made an output line to Kira’s laptop.

“It’s a good thing you did, will you please play the file?” the Detective asked as Akio added, “The last part is what you’ll really want to hear.” He hit the play button skipping over the Japanese lesson to the fight.

“Aw the poor little freak is going to cry”

“Why did you do this?”

“Because I want you to burn in hell you filthy whore and the sickening faggots you call your parents!” the group watched as Lydia punched Riley hard and ran out of the room. Akio turned up the volume as Riley spit blood into a trashcan and said, “I’ll bend that Dyke the way she was born one of these days.”

“I’ll need that Ipod to extract that file. You should have it back with in a day or so.” Detective Pike said as Akio handed it over “Keep it, I have three of them.” The detective smiled as he looked at Connor “I’ll need your home computer to prove Riley made the website.” “Would you like to follow me home to take my brothers computer?” Connor said a slight sound of joy in his voice. “If you would be so kind young sir.” The Detective smiled at Connor who then introduced himself he froze and turn back saying, “I’ll check in with you later about Lydia.” Kira gave a nod as she watched him leave.

Tommy sat there at Lydia’s bed side, Adam rested his hand on Tommy’s shoulder he turned and smiled as Adam kissed his head “I’m going to get something to eat what do you want and don’t tell me your not hungry. You haven’t had anything since about nine this morning.”

“It doesn’t matter; I just don’t want to leave her unless I have to.” Tommy said softly pulling his glasses off trying to rid himself of the headache forming in the back of his head as he added. “I didn’t think two people trying to be happy would cause our daughters best friend to turn on her.” Adam gently pet the brown locks that were almost as long as they were during high school as he said “It’s not going to be that way soon, and everyone else will get over it.” Sighing Tommy said, “I just hope it doesn’t actually cost me my job.” “Dr. Oliver, Really Why would I fire you over a couple of homophobic parents and students?” Elsa stood the smiling at the door Anton tagging behind her.

“Riley McKnight had nearly 2000 members of his group that’s more than half the student body.” Tommy said taking Lydia’s hand as Elsa said to him “Riley McKnight has been suspended, I’m highly considering expulsion.” She sat down in a chair next to Adam as Anton sat down a bouquet of flowers at Lydia’s bedside as Elsa added, “Besides letting you go isn’t my choice it’s the districts choice, I’ve been on the phone with them all day and you have the highest test scores of your curriculum. Meaning, you have nothing to worry about.” “Told you” Adam said softly Tommy reaching back smacking his stomach as small group chuckled.

A light moan caught Tommy and Adam’s attention, the two got up standing at Lydia’s bedside as she open her eyes only to shut them from the blinding sun coming in the window, Elsa hurried over closing the blinds. “Mom?” Lydia said weakly Tommy only smiled as Anton hurried out the door to find a doctor. “I’m right here baby.” was all he could say with out wanting to cry. Lydia finally opens here eyes taking a few moments for them to adjust to the bright lights in her room. “Where am I?” she said her voice still just above a whisper. “You’re in the hospital baby; do you remember anything from today?” Adam said as Anton followed in a nurse who said “Welcome back Ms Park, We were beginning to wonder about you.” Lydia winced as she tried to laugh her face in searing pain. “Yeah you might not want to try and smile, you’re going to hurt for a few days.”

Elsa had forced Tommy and Adam to go have dinner on Anton while she stayed with Lydia who had fallen back to sleep. Tommy had not felt the best since finding his daughter this morning. He had excused him self as he ducked in a bathroom trying to find what was causing stabbing pain in the low of his stomach. Tommy made sure he was alone in a stall before slipping his pants down finding blood. He was used to finding a little but not this much as he tried to clean up as much as he could before heading back to Adam and Anton digging for a small bottle of aspirin taking two before walking back out.

“You know I’ve been thinking about your offer Anton, it maybe a few days before I can actually begin but I would like to take you up on it.” Adam said that as he sat back Anton smiled, he said, “Consider these days as part of your work, and you can continue to use them in that manner even though you’re not actually getting to work. Family is the most important thing in the world, and Lydia needs both of you and I know Tommy needs you just as much.” Adam chuckled as he said, “Some information could make this into a hate crime, bullying, and attempted rape case.” Anton nodded as he added, “Take all the time you need, I have taken the liberty of hiring a tutor for Lydia, She’ll be out quite a bit for appointments and the hearings of course. That is too much time to miss; she is going be worked with at home with Jessica. She’s supposed to come by tomorrow, after she gets out of school.” Adam nodded as he asked, “Where does she go Reef Side?”

“Oh no, she’s in college.” Anton said as Tommy sat back down, Adam resting his hand on top of his as he said. “I took Anton up on his job offer.” Tommy smiled as Adam added, “He got Lydia a tutor while she’s out and if the case with Riley goes to court.” Tommy looked at him stunned. “Don’t even try to talk me out of it Thomas, you won’t win.” Anton said as Adam laughed Tommy rolled his eyes and said, “Thank you Anton, I truly and honestly mean it.”

Lydia was almost asleep as Tommy delicately kissed her head being gentle of the blisters covering her face. “Good night princess” he said at a whisper, Lydia gave a light moan as Tommy pulled the door closed. “Come one lets go home, again” Adam said as the two walked away. Once inside the car Tommy winced as another sharp pain raced through his stomach.

“Tommy! What’s wrong, Talk to me.” Adam begged as the pain subsided.

“It’s been like this all day, that’s not all.” Tommy said trying to fight back tears as he added, “We need to see Haylee.”
