Introducing Two Lovely Ladies

April 13th 2006

The Without Name Awakening

As Greg got out of the car, he saw Kristina running into the building. Once the door was opened he immediately could hear music and singing, as he and the group walked into what looked like a club. There were strobe lights flashing and colored spotlights on stage pointed towards two teenage girls that were singing along with the music.

Kristina walked up to the bar where Emily was sitting, crying, with her head in one hand and an empty cup in another. Kristina sighed and walked away, not knowing what to do or say to help the situation. Greg looked from the stage to the bar and back again, noticing that it was Emily’s daughters that were singing. As the music stopped and the stage lights went out, the audience started clapping and cheering them on. Greg walked up to Emily at the bar when he saw an empty cup in her hand he prayed it wasn’t liquor that she was drinking.

“I know what you are thinking, and no, I’m not drinking.” Emily muttered.

“Oh, so you’ve become a mind reader now?” Greg whispered into her ear. Leaning back he continued a bit louder, “So I thought you said that your daughters are intoxicated, they look fine to me.”

The lights came back on again as the girls got back on the stage. They were dressed in gothic dresses and knee high boots with make-up to go with the look. He noticed that the stage had changed. From what it looked like, the girls had their own band. There was an old fashioned piano at the back with a guy sitting at it dressed in all black. This time the girls had electric guitars with them. The only thing that remained the same is the drummer, who was also dressed in gothic attire, who sat at the drum set on the left side of the back of the stage.

“All that I did was walk over, start off by shaking your hand, that’s how it went. I had a smile on my face, and I stood up straight, Oh Yeah, Yeah, I wanted to know you, I wanted to show you…”

Emily, who had been watching her daughter’s performance, turned to Greg and asked with a sigh, “Do you have children, Mr. Sanders?”

“I uh… no. This is the part where you say…?” Greg looked down for a second before answering her. He looked back up as Emily cut him off mid-sentence.

“Where I say you don’t understand? Greg you may not know what it’s like to have kids but you study humans as much as you do evidence. My daughters hate me. They despise me. I guess it’s because I wasn’t there much in their early years for the mother-daughter bonding, or the fact that I can’t tell them where their little sister is. Or maybe it’s because they don’t know who their father is and why he isn’t in their lives.” Shrugging to herself she looks down before she feels a presence behind her and looks to see Nick walking up to them and sits at the bar beside her. “You really don’t remember who I am, do you Nicholas?”

“No ma’am, but you obviously do.” Nick answered, curiosity in his brown eyes.

“Which means you probably don’t remember James either? Well, it has been a while but I guess when you went to Vegas you left everything behind. Figures ya’know Nicky, you can’t run away from life forever because sooner or later it will catch up with you.” Leaning in, she whispers so that Greg doesn’t over hear, “I will go with you to tell them Nick, after what you have been through they can’t blame it on you, you were just a kid.” Leaning back to look into his eyes Emily asks empathetically, “After all, that is why you took this job, to speak for those who can’t, am I right?”

Nick nodded his head, his eyes showing more curiosity than before. With an awkward smile he says, “And you can’t keep the truth from your daughters forever either.”

When Emily nodded her head, the stage lights went out once again. Getting out of her seat, Emily turned towards the stage and put her game face on. “Well, let’s get this over with. We’re already late as it is anyways.” She said as she looks at her wrist watch then starts walking towards the stage.

“Oh mom! Please tell me you aren’t going to sing?!” the twins whined in unison.

“Don’t talk to your mother like that!” Nick and Greg countered back in unison.

Both girls turned on their heels to look at the men that yelled at them. “Who the hell are you to tell US what to do?” The twins asked in unison with the exact same look on their faces and both had their hands on their hips

Nick and Greg stood their ground. There was no way in hell that they were going to be put off so easily. “What gives y’all the right to talk to your mother like that?” Nick asked giving them a deadly look.

Putting herself in between the four, she turned to Nick and Greg first. “Okay you guys, stop. Not that I don’t appreciate it, but this is my fight.” Turning on her heels to look at her identical twin daughters, shaking a finger at them, “YOU TWO!” Emily shrieked, “WHAT DID I TELL YOU TWO ABOUT WHINING?!”

The girls cleared their throats and pointed a finger at each other, “You girls are thirteen years old, teenagers do not whine!” they said in a voice so much like their mother’s. The twins laughed and did what looked to be like a secret hand shake, to Nick and Greg, then continued to giggle some more.

With a smile and a shake of her head Emily gave a loud laugh as she countered back, “Ha, at least now I know that what I tell you doesn’t go through one ear and out the other!” Laughing at her daughter’s shocked looks, she turned on her heels and walked up to the stairs and onto the stage. “Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I have a very important announcement to make, so listen up and I’ll make this quick. As you might have heard there has been a stir in the underworld lately, talk of a new Source. Talk of demons taking over the world, which means that if you’re not with him then you’re against him, and you’re dead like the rest of us. So for those of you who want to stay alive, please follow me back to my house to start training for the fight of your life.” With that, Emily dropped the microphone and walked off the stage.

“What are you doing, Emily?” Greg asked.

“I have to keep an eye on who is with us and who’s not. That way we know who we have to vanquish and who we have to train.” She said with a shrug. Emily looked around the room to see some demons shimmering out of the room. “God damn it! Spies! Kristina, you keep track of the rest of these bastards! I want you to kill any others that have sided with this new Source and train the others here for a while. The plan has changed, plus I have business to finish, I’ll leave you the bike.” She tossed the keys to her precious Harley Davidson to her sister and then grabbed her daughter’s upper arms and headed towards the exit. “Those of you who arrived here with my sister, come with me because we are heading out!”
