Jarrod sat in his office looking over contracts. He’d spent the morning writing a will and it was his least favorite thing to do. He and Milly were headed to the big house for dinner, and he was eager for the day to end so he could spend time with her alone.
They’d been married for almost 2 years and while there were a few snags here and there, everything was going well. They decided to try for a baby and Jarrod was enjoying their time. He smiled when he thought of hearing Milly crying out his name that morning.
The clock chimed and it was finally time to go home. He’d clean up and then he’d meet Milly over at the main house, she having ridden over with Mags earlier in the day.
Milly and Mags had become good friends. Nick and Mags had shared a few months before that they were expecting and there was an air of excitement. Jarrod could tell his mother was over the moon with happiness at the thought of a grandchild.
Jarrod cleaned up quickly and then joined his family. There was much laughter and the dinner as usual was excellent. They’d just finished when they heard the front door open, and Heath call out to them.
Everyone rushed to greet him and as one stopped when Heath introduced Teddy as his wife.
Teddy looked at the strangers that Heath called his family. On the trip back he’d told her about his family, but it didn’t register with her that there were so many. She felt overwhelmed not to mention exhausted and incredibly sad.
“Teddy, welcome to our family,” she heard. She looked up into the kind eyes of the woman Heath had introduced as his mother. This seemed to break the ice and everyone else came forward.
“Thank you all,” Teddy said quietly.
Mags took the initiative after a knowing look from Victoria.
“Teddy. Are you hungry at all? We just finished dinner but I’m sure there’s enough left. Or would you like to go upstairs to freshen up?”
“I’m not really hungry. But I would like to clean up,” she said. She looked to Heath. “Is that alright?”
Heath smiled and nodded. He thanked Mags and waited until she and his wife - Heath still couldn’t believe he was married - disappeared before asking the rest of the family to meet him in the study.
“Heath…what happened?” Victoria asked.
Heath told them the entire story, not leaving out a single detail. When he finished, he looked at Jarrod whose blue eyes were full of anger.
“I have a mind to go see JG and straighten this out. How dare he-“
“It wasn’t him, Jarrod. I mean…he was the reason…but Carl insisted I take Teddy. He told me JG’s son Jeff had been eying Teddy for a few years. Carl insisted to both JG and Jeff that Teddy had to be 18 before she could marry. She just turned 16 last week. If I hadn’t married her, Jeff would have insisted and I don’t know that Carl would have been able to refuse. Me marrying her kept her safe.”
Jarrod shook his head. He was still angry but told himself he needed to calm down. If he’d been in Heath’s shoes, he would have wanted to help her too.
“Do you want the marriage annulled?” Jarrod asked.
Heath shook his head.
“I thought of that…but where would she go? She has no money of her own and she can’t go back to live with her father,” Heath answered.
“Heath, Teddy is of course welcome here. We’ll make her as comfortable as possible,” Victoria assured him. She paused and the decided to plunge forward. “Have the two of you…Will Teddy need her own room?”
Heath felt his ears pink up.
They stopped for the night and Heath felt how tense Teddy was. They made camp and Teddy stood off to the side, holding herself. She looked scared to death. It had never crossed Heath’s mind to claim his rights.
“Teddy, we aren’t going to do anything. I know we’re married but…given the circumstances…let’s just get some sleep and get started early in the morning. We’ll make it home by tomorrow evening and I’ll introduce you to the family. You can have your own room at the house. I won’t force you to do anything.”
Teddy stared at Heath. She wanted to believe him, but she knew that essentially, he owned her now. He could demand his rights and she couldn’t refuse.
“Teddy?” Heath said. He was worried she didn’t believe him. She’d been through a lot over the last few days, so he didn’t blame her for her doubting his words.
Teddy nodded. She laid down on the blankets Heath spread out and eventually drifted off to sleep.
Heath watched her, his heart aching for her. She was just a child and had been thrown into a marriage she didn’t want with a stranger she didn’t know. He would keep his word and keep her safe but he did wonder what the future would hold.
“She’ll need her own room,” Heath answered. He looked around the room and continued. “Look, I know none of you were expecting this. Thank you for the warm welcome and I’d like for Teddy to be a part of this family. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I know I have all of you. I want her to have all of you too.”
Everyone nodded and agreed. Mags came downstairs and joined them in the study. She’d left Teddy upstairs in the bathroom to clean up.
“We’ll put her in the bedroom next to you, Heath. Please let us know what we can do to help you both,” Victoria said.
Jarrod and Milly left shortly thereafter. Nick and Mags went to their room and Heath and Victoria waited for Teddy. Victoria went upstairs at one point and found that Teddy had dozed in the tub.
She gently awakened the young girl and waited for her in the hall. Teddy dressed and Victoria showed her where she’d be sleeping.
“Is this Heath’s room?” Teddy asked, as she looked around.
“No. This is your room. Heath will be next door,” Victoria answered. She took a deep breath. “Heath explained everything, Teddy. I want you to know that we all care for Heath and by extension, we all care for you. We want you to join our family. If you need anything, you just have to ask.”
Teddy turned to the older woman and nodded. Victoria could sense Teddy was feeling overwhelmed and decided to leave her alone to get some rest.
“Good night, Teddy.”
Teddy looked around the room again and sighed. She was exhausted and decided a good night’s sleep would be the best. The next day, she’d try to figure out what to do.
Nick had been asleep for a few hours when he rolled over and drew Mags closer. She wrapped herself around him and he sighed with contentment. He absentmindedly reached down to rub her belly and he heard a muffled sob.
“Mags?” he asked.
“Oh Nick…I keep thinking about Teddy. She’s so young!”
Nick drew Mags closer.
“I know. But Heath won’t do anything to her. And from the sounds of it, she’s better off with him here than in that town and at the mercy of that Jeff person.”
Mags sniffed.
“I know.”
The two were silent for a few minutes.
“I’ll go over and talk to Milly tomorrow. We’ll take Teddy under our wings. She’ll feel loved and I hope one day when she and Heath are ready, they can be as happy as us,” Mags sniffed and began to cry again. Nick smiled. He was glad his wife was going to help Teddy. He hoped, like her, Teddy and Heath would have a happy marriage.
“Oh baby, please…”
Jarrod smiled at Milly’s begging. He’d been bringing her to the edge over and over but not letting her finish. It had been a fun little game they had been playing but now Jarrod was ready for them both to find their satisfaction.
He thrust into her quickly and he knew his time was near. He watched as she thrust her hips up to meet his and his seed spilled inside her as both called out each other’s names. Before Jarrod could move he felt Milly tighten against him again and she moaned. Her orgasms could last for at least a minute or two and Jarrod enjoyed each tremor.
“Mmmm,” he groaned as he lay on top of her, loving the feel of her legs wrapped around him. He needed to move but he loved being in her arms. Eventually he rolled over and brought her with him.
“I love that game but I also like it when you set a number and make me finish until I reach that goal,” Milly said, as she ran her hands over Jarrod’s broad chest. She played with the hair on his chest and sighed in contentment.
“I like that too,” he said sleepily. Both began to doze and then Jarrod heard Milly speak.
“I hope Heath and Teddy can experience this one day. I hate the circumstances that brought them together but I can see that Heath is starting to care for her. Hopefully, once Teddy gets over the shock of everything she and Heath will turn to one another.”
She felt Jarrod nod.
“I think they’ll live a long and happy life together,” he said yawning. The two fell into a a deep and peaceful sleep.
