Liam’s eyes opened and he saw Dean watching him. “Morning,” he gave a little smile.
“Morning, beautiful,” Dean smiled back. “You looked like you were sleeping peacefully.”
“Yeah, I guess. Did you sleep at all last night?”
“Yeah, some. I’ve just been thinking about how amazing you are. I mean, most of the time you’re like this childish crazy person, but we needed you and you just stepped up and took care of us. You had your own issues, but you selflessly put them aside. I just wanted to say I appreciate it, and I’m sure Sam does too. I know you hate the conditions we’re living in, but you don’t complain much and you stay.”
Liam turned over on his side and rubbed Dean’s cheek with his thumb. “It’s like you said, I’m a crazy person.”
“I think there’s a lot more to you than that,” Dean said as he leaned in and kissed Liam passionately. Then he reached to slide a finger in Liam’s ass to massage his prostate. Liam moaned and pressed into the touch.
Dean went and got the lube and slicked himself up before climbing back on the bed and entering Liam. He gazed deep into the blond’s eyes as he started thrusting. He leaned down to kiss Liam again and the blond rolled them over so he was on top. He slid himself up and down, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Dean reached to start stroking his now hard cock, bringing a low moan out of him.
Liam leaned down to lick up the front of Dean’s throat and claim his mouth again. Dean pinched one of his nipples and made him gasp before rolling them back over. Then Dean started nibbling his neck just under his jaw. “I love you,” Dean breathed in Liam’s ear before nipping at his ear lobe.
Liam grabbed Dean’s face and looked deep into his eyes. “I love you.”
Liam’s hands slid down Dean’s back and pressed into his flesh. Dean closed his eyes and cried out as he came inside Liam. His hand kept stroking Liam until the blond moaned loudly and climaxed. Dean curled up next to Liam trying to catch his breath. “That was awesome. You are awesome,” he kissed Liam’s cheek.
“I’m glad you think so. Does this mean you’re feeling better?”
“For the moment, yes, and it’s because of you. I think maybe we should get up though.”
They dressed and came out of the bedroom. Sam was at the table looking upset. “What’s wrong with you?” Dean asked.
“I just had a little chat with Becky.”
“Yeah, that would be enough to ruin anyone’s day,” Dean chuckled. “But how did she get your number and what did she want? Does the woman not take a hint?”
“I don’t know how she got my number, but she called to tell me she’s pregnant.”
“Whoa...” Dean sat down. “What are you going to do?”
“I honestly have no idea. I… What you two were just doing… Yeah, I know because you’re not as quiet as you think you are, but you were of your right minds and both into it. I’ve been trying to forget about it because I was pretty much drugged and raped, but now...”
“Now you’ve got a constant reminder,” Liam finished the sentence.
“Exactly,” Sam nodded. “I feel violated all over again. John was also an accident, but it’s different because I consented to that.”
Liam sighed. “I don’t think this was an accident. When we were scoping out her apartment she had the dates circled on the calendar and I saw a little fertility statue by the bed.”
Sam’s eyes widened. “And you didn’t think to say anything until now?”
Liam shrugged. “Didn’t know if anything would come of it. I mean, we know you’re fertile, but… Hey, call Natalie and fill her in. I think she’ll know what to do about Becky. The woman can’t come after you for child support because you don’t have anything to come after.”
“Yeah, but what about when I marry Natalie? What’s hers will technically be mine too then. Can Becky come after that?”
“That would be a good question for a lawyer. Hence, I repeat, call Natalie. She deserves to know anyway.”
“Okay,” Sam nodded. “I will do that. But until things get sorted out I would like to work. I think I found something in Kansas.”
“We’ll pack while you call your girl,” Dean patted his brother’s shoulder.
They got in the car and drove off. “So, what’s the verdict?” Liam asked Sam.
“She thinks I really should’ve let you shoot Becky,” Sam answered. “She’s not happy, but after she blew off some steam she asked me what I want to do.”
“What do you want to do?” Dean asked.
“I don’t know,” Sam answered. “Well, first thing I want to do is make sure the kid is mine. After that I really don’t know. Let’s just concentrate on the case for now, okay? I need to think.”
They were quiet the rest of the ride. Once they reached their destination they dressed as FBI and went to the morgue to see the dead guy. He had giant sucker wounds all over his body. “Those are not the fun kind of hickeys,” Dean joked.
“You're saying an octopus did this?” Sam asked the coroner.
“Not just any octopus. Based on welt diameter, Enteroctopus dofleini.”
“And for those of us who skipped the enteroctopus class?” Dean blinked at him.
“Giant Pacific octopus.”
“How giant we talking, Doc?” Dean asked.
“Approximately thirty feet.”
Sam chuckled. “I mean, aren't giant octopi rare around here?”
“Yet here we are.”
Dean sighed. “Alright, so what happens? Guy comes home, cracks a beer, and gets suckered to death?”
“Obviously this was some kind of freak fetish attack. Someone created those hickey marks, then bled the man out.” The doctor turned the dead man’s head to reveal a wound.
They left and Dean turned to Liam. “That bite look a little vamp-y to you?”
“A rough one maybe.”
“So, what are we looking for? An octovamp? A vamptopus?”
Sam shook his head. “That's crazy even for us, right?”
“It does push the envelope,” Dean nodded. “Let's go chat up the widow.”
They went to the Harper home and sat across from the wife. “Mrs. Harper, we know this is, uh, bad timing. But we just have a few routine questions that we need to ask you, is that okay?” Dean gave her a small smile.
“Yeah.”
“Did the house feel any different lately?” Sam asked.
“Different...?”
“Anything strange. Cold spots. Uh, did you smell anything weird? Maybe sulfury?” Dean asked.
“No. Not that I can remember.”
Dean nodded. “Okay, we're just ticking all the boxes here. Um, what about any skeletons in your husband's closet?”
“Skeletons? What do you mean?”
“Can you think of anybody who would want to do him harm? A colleague, an old flame.”
“The tiniest detail could really help,” Liam added.
“You want to know what he was up to lately? Ask Stacey. She was here the night he died.”
“Who’s Stacey?” Liam asked.
“Our nanny. Any other questions?”
Dean shook his head. “No, that's... Thank you. You've been a big help.”
“Really appreciate the hospitality, ma'am,” Sam gave her another little smile.
When they were outside Dean shook his head. “Mom, dad, nanny, boy, that is a love triangle right out of Casa Erotica. Of course, in those, the jealous wife tends to channel her feelings more productively.”
Liam raised an eyebrow. “Please tell me that you’re not still looking at porn while you’ve got this,” he motioned to himself.
“Of course not. I looked at a lot of it before you, but...”
Sam sighed. “The only thing I can't wrap my mind around is-”
“What, how wife lady summoned an octovamp?” Dean finished the sentence.
“More like why? I mean, kind of impractical, right?”
“Yeah. Alright, one of us needs to go talk to the naughty nanny. The other ones stay here, shake down the place when the wife leaves, see what we're dealing with. I’ll check out the nanny.”
“Not without me you’re not,” Liam insisted.
“What, you don’t trust me?” Dean looked a little hurt.
“Not completely, no.”
“Can you blame him?” Sam looked to his brother.
“Alright, Babe, come on.”
They went to the nanny’s house to question her. “Now, uh, how would you describe your relationship with the deceased?” Dean asked.
“I don't know. Normal, I guess. I mostly dealt with Debra. There was nothing going on, if that's what you mean.”
“Debra said that you were at the house late the night that, uh, that Brian died.”
“Yeah. Brian was working late so I stayed with Kelly. She was pretty upset.”
“Why's that?” Liam asked.
“Well, it was her birthday. We had a party at Plucky's.”
Dean got a funny look on his face. “Plucky's. Why does that sound familiar?”
“Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie? Pizza chain for kids. Actually, more for lazy parents. Anyway, her dad showed up for five minutes, then he went back to work. And, of course, her mom was out of town. This stupid kid told Kelly her folks didn't really love her. She freaked. I was calming her down for hours.”
“Uh, did you notice anything weird at the house?”
“Weird like...?”
“Anything. Even a bad feeling.”
“No, nothing like that. Actually, Kelly does have a weird thing about closets. But it's just kid stuff.”
“Try me.”
“She thinks there's a monster in her closet. It drives everyone crazy.”
They went back outside and Dean called Sam. “Hey, we talked to the wrong person. Forget the mom. Talk to the daughter. She's mad at her dad for ditching her birthday.”
“So, what do you think? A birthday wish gone wrong, something like that?” Sam asked.
“I don't know. It could be.”
“I got a twenty on her right now.”
“Can you get to her without tripping the AMBER Alert?”
“I’ll try.”
“Alright, see what you can find out.”
They met at another weird crime scene. A man was run through and there were hoof prints at the scene. “Okay, so, the horse I get. The hoof prints, the jumping over the fence. But, uh, what ran him through?” Dean asked an officer.
“Best thing I could tell you is something big.”
“So, what, like a lance?”
The officer shrugged and the body was wheeled into an ambulance with a woman standing beside it. “It's sad. Lady's got to pull her friggin eight year old out of school and tell him his dad's dead.”
Dean approached the widow. “Excuse me, ma'am? Agent Jones, FBI.”
“I'm sorry. I really need to go.”
“Okay. Uh, just one quick question, if you don't mind. Um, was yesterday your son's birthday?”
“Billy's birthday? No. Why would you ask that?”
“Nothing. Never mind.”
“Oh. But his father did take him to a friend's birthday party yesterday.”
Dean went back over to Liam and Sam. “Okay, Liam and I are going to talk to Billy. Sam, you check out Plucky’s.”
“Or you two can check out Plucky’s.”
“I thought you loved those places.”
“Dean, I hated those places.”
“What am I missing?” Liam asked.
“Dean used to dump me at places like that so he could go trolling for chicks.”
“Really?” Liam shot Dean a glare. “You’re a lousy big brother.”
“I was a teenager and I didn’t know you existed. Didn’t your brother chase skirts, or whatever you called it when he was a teenager?”
“Yeah, and I was pissed at him then too.”
Dean sighed. “It’s ancient history. Sam, I know you have a clown thing, but suck it up. Remember, if it bleeds you can kill it.”
After they talked to Billy Dean took Liam to pick up some Chinese take out. “Hey. So, what's the lowdown with trauma town?” Dean asked Sam when he came in.
“I can tell you this much. Neither victim was up for parent of the year. Kelly's dad skipped her birthday, and Billy's dad pulled one of those dick parent scenes that makes everyone cringe.”
Sam put place mats down in front of Dean. “What the hell are these?” Dean asked.
“Kid therapy. Um, you draw your worst nightmare and poof! Plucky fixes it. Um, they hang them up on this big wall.”
Dean nodded. “Okay, so, Kelly draws a monster, and then that goes after her father? That's what we're saying?”
“Well, here's the thing. They label those. And guess which two were missing. Well, name tag was there, no place mat.”
“Little Miss Octovamp,” Dean guessed.
“Yeah. And Billy. So somehow, whatever he drew came to life and killed his dad, riding a horse.”
“Close, but no Seabiscuit. See, we went and had a little chat with Billy. And he drew us this.” Dean pulled out a picture of a unicorn with someone impaled on its horn.
Sam picked it up. “Wait. So now unicorns are evil?”
“Yeah. Obviously.”
“Great. Well, now the question is, how did a unicorn come off a sketch and kill Billy's dad? How's any of this happening?”
“Magic paper?” Liam shrugged as he sat to eat.
A few hours later they drove out to Plucky’s because the janitor had been murdered. “Hold on one second there, guys,” Dean flashed his FBI badge at the paramedics carrying the body out. He took a look under the sheet while Sam talked to the manager.
“So?” Dean asked Sam when he came over.
“The manager found the body in the ball pit. Blood everywhere.”
“Cops have a theory?”
“Yeah, they think the ball washer did it.”
“Look at this,” Dean raised the sheet again. “Thank you, gentlemen.” The paramedics carried the body away. “That's a shark bite. And, uh, judging from the radius, I'd say a twenty footer at least.” Sam shot him a funny look. “Shark Week, man. How do you not watch that? Whole week of sharks.”
They went inside and started looking at the place mats on the wall. Another one was missing. Sam pointed at the name tag. “Omar Cooper. How much you want to bet little Omar here was scared of sharks?”
Dean looked at his brother. “Saul the janitor is connected how? I mean, he's not related to Omar.”
“No. But Saul had something he wanted to tell me.”
“So, this isn't about ganking some dickweed parent.”
“More like, uh, silencing a whistle blower.”
“Great, so whatever we're looking for can literally fire off childhood fears at will. Wow. Watch out for evil lunch ladies.”
Sam pulled out an EMF detector. “Alright. Let's comb this place.”
They found nothing and went back to the motel. They spent most of the next day doing research. Dean tossed his dad’s journal on the table. “Yeah, I don't know. I'm tapped out.”
“Well, whatever it is, at least we know where it is,” Sam closed the laptop.
“Plucky's” Liam closed Jason’s journal.
“That's where the victims are getting picked up,” Sam nodded.
Dean sighed. “Yeah, but we swept the place last night, and nada.”
Sam got up. “I'll go back, play bad cop, really lean into them.”
“And...?” Dean asked.
“And when I'm done, then you two watch them.”
“So, if somebody freaks out, then that's our creep.”
“Or he'll lead us closer and you can track him.”
“Well, what's our cover?”
“I don't know. Just hang back. Act normal,” Sam said as he went into the bathroom.
“Yeah. Two grown men hanging out at Plucky's alone, that's normal. That's not pervy at all.”
They went to Plucky’s and Liam and Dean sat at a table. Liam was drawing on a place mat. “That’s your dad, isn’t it?” Dean asked as he looked at the crude drawing.
Liam shrugged. “You’re supposed to draw your childhood fears on these things. I had the usual monster in the closet fears, sure, but...”
“You lived your worst fear,” Dean nodded.
Dean saw a little girl with a giant slinky and he tried to go get one but they could only be attained with tickets from the games. When someone came out of the room Sam was interviewing people in Dean would follow them for a little while.
Then a young man in a lion costume ran out. Liam and Dean gave chase. They were outside when Liam took a flying leap onto the guy and they hit the ground hard. “Damn, you’re fast,” Dean panted as he caught up with Sam.
The young man looked freaked out. “If this is about the meth lab that fireballed up in Butte, it wasn't me. Okay, it was my brother, but, um, we got the same fingerprints, and... Please. This is the best job I ever had.”
Dean looked down at him. “All right, look, uh...”
“Cliff.”
“Cliff. You're not using kids' nightmares to smoke people, are you, Cliff?”
“I don't think so.”
“Get up,” Dean hauled him to his feet.
“What's going on?”
Dean helped Liam up then. “Alright, cards up. Yeah, we don't care that you, you know, broke bad or whatever. But there is some seriously weird going on in there.”
“You mean the sub-basement.”
“This place has a sub-basement?” Sam asked.
“Sure. Door's out back. Easy to miss if you don't know.”
“What's in there?” Dean asked.
“All I know is... Me and Saul used to come in after hours sometimes and…,” he laughed. “You ever shroom in a ball pit? Not that I would, agents. It was Saul. Just Saul. All alone. Anyway... Sometimes we'd hear, like, spooky stuff, through the vents... Coming up from the boiler room.”
Dean went back inside and saw a mom get impatient with her kid and drag him off. “So, what do you think?” Sam came in behind him with Liam.
“While you were out being Dirty Harry, uh, that kid’s mom got pissy with him, and now his place mat's missing. I think the bitchy mom plus, uh, sad kid plus place mat with something nuts written on it equals wacky corpse.”
“So you think she's next on the list? Alright, I'll tail them just to be safe. You two...”
“Check the boiler room. I know.”
“Right,” Sam nodded as he followed the mom and her son.
Dean and Liam found the boiler room and there was a large pot with a fire. “Now, that's perfectly normal,” Dean commented.
Liam picked up a place mat with a scary robot drawn on it. “I think we found what we were looking for.”
“Drop it,” Howard appeared holding a gun. Dean lowered his gun to the floor. “Your turn, Blondie.”
Liam glared at Howard like he was thinking. “Liam...” Dean looked at him. Liam sighed and lowered his gun. “Some pretty heavy hoodoo you got here. I gotta say, as far as I know, none of these things, uh, can poop out a unicorn.”
Howard smirked. “There's power in fear. And when a child draws what he's afraid of, a little of that mojo ends up on the page.”
“So, what, you toss it in the fire, and some bed wetter's horror show comes to life?”
“I got to get something off the parent, too. Something they own. That bit gets tricky.”
“Well, it hasn't seemed to slow you down,” Liam commented.
“I'm just doing what I need to!”
“What, are you gonna shoot us, Howard? You really want bodies on your hands? Blood everywhere?”
“I’d shut up! Because I got lots of ways to take care of bullies. Don't you worry. Like that FBI guy. He's your pal, right? I saw you chase Cliff down. Five minutes ago his business card was torched along with something from my personal collection. I picked it out real special for him, too. Soon as I saw him, I noticed. He was staring at every little Plucky like it was gonna stab him or something. Now it’s your turn,” he held up the picture Liam drew of his father. He moved over to Liam and yanked a hair from his head and threw it in the fire with the picture.
Liam’s father appeared and advanced on him. “This would be terrifying if I was still afraid of him,” Liam punched his father but it didn’t seem to phase him. His father started beating on him, but Liam put up a struggle.
Dean watched in horror. “Why are you doing this?”
“Plucky helps kids. It's all I ever wanted to do. And when the management slot opened up, I... but they passed me over.”
“Shocker.”
“No, I told them, No one cares more than me. But suits never listen, so, I'm doing it my way.”
“So let me get this straight. You didn't get the good parking space, so you start dropping bodies?”
“Those parents were horrible. They deserved what they got.”
“What about Saul?”
“Saul had a big mouth!”
“So, what are you going to do with me?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
A shot rang out and Dean looked at Liam on the floor with his gun. Howard had been shot in the head and he fell dead. Liam’s father exploded into glitter that flew everywhere. “You okay?” Dean asked Liam who had a fat lip and a bloody nose.
“Banged up, but I’ll live. Good job distracting him.”
“You sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah.”
They met Sam outside and he too was covered in glitter. Dean laughed. “We look like we got attacked by some PCP crazed strippers. Sam... I'm sorry for psychologically scarring you.”
“Which time?”
“Shut up. Seriously. You know, me ditching you when we were kids, that was a dick move. You know, the whole clown thing...”
“You know what, man? Honestly, getting my ass kicked by those clowns tonight was, uh... it was therapeutic.”
“You faced your fear,” Liam nodded.
“Exactly. And now what else could a clown possibly ever do to me? I feel good.”
“Oh, by the way,” Liam went to the car and got a giant slinky and gave it to Dean.
“No!” a wide grin appeared on Dean’s face. “Did you win this?”
“I borrowed it when no one was looking. I think you earned it.”
“Thank you, Babe,” Dean kissed him and spit out some glitter. “Why don’t we go get cleaned up and snuggle until we fall asleep?”
“That sounds good,” Liam nodded.
They went back to the motel and Sam went to his room while they showered together to get the glitter off. Then they went to bed. When Liam was sure Dean was asleep he started crying softly.
