THE SWITCH 13

PART THIRTEEN

Three
frightened, crying, young virgins lay tied to the sacrifice table in Ares
temple. The ritual, jeweled handled
sword was on the table off to the side as the god of war and his high priest,
Reif, began a chant that summoned lightening out of nowhere.

Ares
was, once again, back to his old tricks.
It had been two days since his twin had taken Tori from him and he had
never found out if she was able to get Cupid�s blood for the ceremony. Desperate in his need to acquire the extra
power he desired, he had returned to Ramel and stolen three virgins from the
village in the middle of the night. It
was his right to do so, he figured. He
had held up his end of the deal with three men. He was only taking what was rightfully his.

As
Reif held up the sword and the lightening struck it, it began to glow red,
pulsing like a heartbeat. Slowly, he
walked to the side of the sacrifice table and looked down at the three sobbing
ladies. He smiled wickedly as he raised
the sword high above his head. Ares
looked on in anticipation, ready to accept the power of his offering.

Suddenly,
the wooden double doors burst open.

�Stop. Please, stop.�

�Huh?�
Ares murmured. He held his hand up
indicating for Reif to wait. Ares
recognized the voice. It was Tori. She was running down the aisle leading to
the altar.

�Please
don�t kill them. You don�t need to kill them.�

�Tori,
is that you?� Ares said as he stood and
pushed the hood off of his head.

�Yes,
Master, it is I,� she said, kneeling and bowing her head to him. �I only have a
short time. I�m not supposed to be
here.�

�What
do you mean you only have a short time?
Explain yourself.�

Ares
walked over to her and took her hand to have her stand. He looked her over quickly and the embraced
her. He whispered so only she could
hear him. �I�m so glad your alive,
Tori. I wasn�t sure if you were going
to make it.� There was the sound of
general concern and caring in his voice.
The kinds of things that nobody ever saw in the war god, and he was sure
that the others in the room didn�t hear them now.

�My
Lord,� she said respectfully, �I only have a few moments. Please, can we talk privately?� Tori understood the image that the god
portrayed and she didn�t want to get all mushy with him in front of the others.

�As
you wish,� he said as he took her hand and they disappeared.

As
soon as they were in his chambers, Ares pulled her into his arms and into an
ardent kiss. His hands urgently moved
over her body and he pressed his cock, which seemed to have instantly gotten

wasn�t really thinking much about it, at the time. You . . . were��

Ares
was having a hard time telling Tori about the events that transpired after she
had been wounded. It would be admitting
that he had felt compassion for her, concern about her life. And that he had cared enough about her to actually
release her from his service in order to save her.

She
put her hand to his cheek. �I
know. You don�t have to say anything,
my Lord. Thank you!� she said softly
and then gently kissed his lips. �I�m
sorry, but I must go now.�

�Why,
you just got here?�

�Because
Ares said, the other Ares, that is, he said that because there is already a
Victoria in this realm, that it would be impossible for me to live here as
well.�

�You
didn�t seem to have any problems before.
What so different now?�

�The
wound.� She lifted her tunic and they
could see a scar forming. It was
getting bigger and redder, acting the opposite of healing.

�If
I stay here, the healing of my injury will reverse and it would only be a few
hours before I would die. You see, I
can�t stay here. As much as I want to,
it�s just impossible.� She had tears in
her eyes.

Ares
pulled her into another warm embrace.
�Don�t cry, my tigress. It won�t
do any good. And I want to remember you
with that fire in your eyes and that sexy smile of yours. Please.�

�Yes,
Master,� she sucked in her sobs and wiped an eye. She could already feel the pain of her wound kicking in.

Off
to the side, a faint light shimmered and Ares, God of Love, appeared in a
transparent, ghost-like image. He never
fully materialized and only reminded Tori that she was cutting it close and had
to return soon. She nodded in
acknowledgement and he disappeared.

Tori
stood in front of her beloved god with sadness in her eyes. She regretted having to leave him, but she didn�t
have any choice. She took both his hand
in hers and shook off her sorrow and smiled her best smile for the god.

�Well,
I guess this is it, then. Will you
release the virgins now that you have the potent stuff?�

Ares
smiled and shook his head, not surprised by her request. �Yes, Tori, I will return them to their
homes.�

�Thank you, my Lord.�

�And
I thank you, my little tigress. Cupid�s
blood should give me more than enough power to fight the light.�

�Will
you come visit me?�

His
smile left. �I don�t know, Tori. That may not be a good idea, right now. But we�ll see.�

�Well
then, will you at least send word that you have succeeded in defeating your
enemy? It would be nice to know that
all of this was for a good reason. I
mean, if I have to give you up, then I would like to know that it was worth it,
because right now, I�m feeling rather cheated here.�

�That,
I can do. I promise.� He smiled at her. �Are you getting on all right, being back home again?�

�Yeah,
I�m doing all right. I just miss seeing
you.�

�What
do you mean? You�ve got an exact
duplicate of me?�

�Ares,
it�s not the same.�

�What? Isn�t he treating you well?�

�Oh
sure! Too well. He�s entirely too nice. A pushover.
All I have to do is bat my eyelashes and he�s there massaging my feet or
peeling me a grape. It sucks. There�s no challenge.�

�Tori,
he�s the God of Love. How did you
expect him to be?� Ares was feeling
extremely jealous at the moment, but he refused to let on about it. Still, he had to find out how far they had

Ares
re-entered the ceremony room, smiling victoriously. The three women were still tied to the table, squirming and
crying continually. Reif patiently sat
on one of the three stairs that led up to the altar.

�Untie
the girls, Rief. I�m letting them go.�

Rief
looked at his master unbelievingly, but did as he was told. When they were untied, Ares waved his hand
and sent them back home.

�Master,
why did you let the virgins go?�

�Because,
Reif, I have something much more powerful than virgin�s blood. I have the blood of a war god.� He held up the bottle in front of them and
gazed upon it like it held all the riches of the world.

That evening, Ares made a
quiet trip to the alternate universe to see his twin, the love god.

�Well, if it isn�t the

and that look of utter love found his face.

cut him off before he could finish the sentence. �I�m the God of War. I�m

I just don�t think it would be healthy for her.�

�I�ve come to ask you to be
sure and take care of her. She�s
special, and she has a lot of potential of being a good leader one day. Your gods should consider allowing her to
take Cupid�s place. She would make an
excellent war goddess.�

�I hadn�t thought of
that. I�ll bring it up at the next council
meeting. Anything else?�

�Yes, there is one more
thing.� Ares paced the room, running
his hand through his hair, feeling frustrated with the situation.

�I�m listening.�

�She . . . she likes it

Ares, GOL, looked
confused. �She likes what rough?�

that Tori was contented in having to stay in this realm. Even if it meant taking his twin as her
lover. At least she would not likely

Ares, GOL slapped Ares, GOW
on the back. �Don�t worry! I�ll take good care of her for you.�

�You better. Or I�m holding you personally responsible
for anything bad that might happen. Got

The love god shook his head
and smiled. �I got it.�

The God of War disappeared
in a flash of blue and white light.

The following day, Ares,
God of Love, entered Tori�s room to wake her.
It seemed like every day she sunk deeper and deeper into
depression. Ares was determined to
bring her around, now that he had a bit of insight into what she liked, thanks
to the God of War.

He crawled on top of her,
bringing her out of her slumber with sexy little kisses, until she yawned and
opened her eyes.

�Good morning,
beautiful. Sleep well?�

Tori turned on her side,
her back now to the god.
