Chapter Eleven

Kristien shifted her position for the hundredth time to get comfortable. Nothing she did helped. At twenty six weeks, she had a lovely bump housing her baby son. Her once curvy figure had become very skinny. Tonight she was cursing the night she allowed Hawke to make passionate love to her to conceive that baby. Single handily she had gone against every doctors recommendation about even having a baby.

Alfred walked into the bedroom carrying a tray of different drinks to tempt Kristien to keep hydrated. He made his way directly to her and placed the tray down at the side of her.

“Miss Kristien, I have the Ambassador of Dubawi on the phone for you, he says its important.” Alfred informed her.

Kristien just laid totally fed up with all the distractions that seemed to be happening all at once. She was watching Hawke doing high level reconnaissance for the FIRM which he felt was a trap. The Gulf War had got the USA and its allies all on alert with Desert Shield so the request for recon was not unusual but the refuelling stops could be places where Airwolf could be taken as one was a landing site.

“I told them the only reason I would help run the bloody country is if they left me alone, phone calls means harassment to me.” Kristien replied to Alfred in no mood to talk to anyone from Dubawi.

Alfred picked up the phone by the side of the bed and pressed the flashing light. “Mr Ambassador, Miss Kristien has already retired for the evening. May I suggest a call in the morning.” Alfred explained to the Ambassador.

“Oh I apologise for calling so late but the First Minister of Dubawi has sent the rest of Prince Zafar’s personal effects to the London Embassy. I was calling to arrange delivery of them.” The Ambassador explained.

Alfred’s face gave away the sign that something was wrong to Kristien. “The rest of his personal effects of course, we were wondering when these were coming.” Alfred played along for the moment. “I can put your through to Special Agent Carsten to organise shipment.”

“I was sure that Mr Coldsmith Briggs would have organised this beforehand but no matter.” The Ambassador explained.

“I will transfer your call for you.” Alfred explained and he pressed a couple of buttons before placing the phone down.

Kristien rolled over and looked at Alfred. “So what was that about?”

“It appears Dubawi believes that Prince Zafar is here.” Alfred explained with a concerned look on his face. “Am I to believe that Zafar is Master Bastian.”

Kristien nodded. “Well we need to get the Baskervilles on the hunt then and find out when all of this should have happened.” Kristien spoke quietly, part of her deeply troubled by the fact that her seven year old son was somewhere out there, being kept by persons unknown.

“I will call Special Agent Carsten immediately.” Alfred reached for the phone again. “Archangel’s name was mentioned.”

Kristien looked up at Alfred. “Oh shit, should have bloody seen this coming? Archangel will hold Zafar in exchange for Airwolf?” Kristien pieced all the shreds of evidence together.

“That could be a possibility.” Alfred confirmed Kristien’s suspicions. “Shall we inform Master Stringfellow?”

“No, we need to continue as planned.” Kristien replied not wanting to put forward anything to Stringfellow until it was confirmed. “Besides he has his hands full with the Phoenix, talking of which he should be well on his way back.”

Alfred took out his gold pocket watch and opened the case and looked at the time. He nodded and withdrew from the bedroom to allow Kristien to rest some more.

Kristien settled down to rest. Her mind already over active with the latest information regarding the small boy she met in Dubawi. She knew it was the baby that was ripped from her when she was kidnapped before. It had taken her weeks, nearly months to even admit to String that they had a child, alive and well after seven years of wondering what fate had happened to the baby. Kristien had blocked out what had happened to her after meeting Hawke again after five years of grieving for her loss. Kristien reached over for her laptop. Her mind already scanning dates and events and correlating them into a timeline to produce on a screen, not that she needed it, but to show everyone else and maybe some how they would be able to piece together when all of this happened.

Kristien shifted position again. Her tenseness was transferring to the unborn baby.
