Henley sat in his hotel room, his laptop resting on the bed. He frantically searched for distractions to divert attention and achieve his goal. He had successfully lured Jay away from Erin by sending a text message. Now, he needed to impersonate Voight and convince Jay that he was responsible for Erin's predicament.
A smirk spread across Henley's face as his plan unfolded. He had studied Erin's file and knew her sister was in the bathroom. He had cunningly orchestrated a series of events, threatening Jamie's young daughter to force her into his scheme.
Henley continued his machinations, messaging Justin's phone and posing as a military official. He ordered Justin to return immediately, knowing that Erin would release him to avoid any repercussions.
"Soon, Detective, you will be mine," Henley whispered, his gaze fixed on the printed images of Erin adorning the wall.
Henley rose from the bed and approached the suitcase resting on the desk. He unzipped it to verify that he had everything necessary for the female detective.
"Something to make her subservient," Henley muttered, retrieving a drug he had acquired from a gang member. A sinister grin spread across his face as he pulled out a video camera. "And this to record her humiliation!"
Henley repacked the items into the suitcase and picked up the map he had drawn, indicating Erin's intended destination. "There, no one will find us until it's too late!" he thought to himself.
"Now, I just need to reach her, which is my next step," Henley said. He had employed a hacker to disable all cameras in the district, giving him an advantage in tracking Erin's movements. His plan involved sending a text to Voight, concocting a lie to provoke his anger towards Erin.
Henley anticipated Erin questioning Voight about his release from prison. He reckoned Voight would feign ignorance but ultimately remove Erin from the team. Henley planned to impersonate a sergeant from the tower and inform Voight of Erin's inquiry.
"You'll be mine, Erin," Henley uttered, staring at her photo leaning against her car. "I'll demonstrate your true master. I'll render you undesirable, ensuring no one lays a finger on you!" he proclaimed, a smirk twisting his lips.
( At the district)
Erin drove back into the district after dropping Justin at the airport. She sighed, sensing something amiss, but quickly shook off the feeling and greeted Platt with a smile.
"Hey, Trudy," she said.
"Hello, Erin," Platt replied with a puzzled expression. "I thought you were with Justin."
"I was, but he had to return to the military earlier than expected," Erin explained.
Kim approached with a grin. "Are we still on for girls' night this weekend?" she asked.
Erin nodded. "Of course. We can have it at my apartment since Hank is allowing me to move back in," she said.
"That's fantastic!" Kim exclaimed. "I'll inform the others."
She took the keys for the squad car and headed outside. Erin made her way upstairs to speak with Voight about Henley.
Despite knowing that the sergeant was unlikely to provide the information she sought, she hoped to entice him into conversation.
Erin stifled a yawn as she approached the bullpen. "Hey, Erin," Antonio greeted her warmly as she passed. "Hey, Tony," she replied over her shoulder.
Stepping into Voight's office, she found him seated at his desk. Shutting the door behind her, she turned to him. "Hank," she exclaimed, drawing his attention. "Erin, what about Justin?" he inquired.
"I was with him, but he had to return to the military unexpectedly. I dropped him off at the airport," Erin explained with a shrug. "But that's not why I'm here." She took a seat opposite Voight.
Voight nodded, setting aside his phone after reading a message from Crowley. "Okay, what's up?" he asked, his gaze fixed on the detective he had known for years.
“Is Henley really in prison?” Erin inquired, leaning forward in her seat.
“Of course he is,” Voight replied flatly.
Voight wondered why Erin was inquiring about Henley, unsure if she suspected he was no longer incarcerated. “Are you certain? I have a feeling he isn't,” Erin insisted, shaking her head, concealing the fact that she had recently encountered Henley in the women's restroom.
“I'm not aware of any such occurrence. I would have informed you if Henley had been released,” Voight stated, rocking in his chair. “I believe your memory is failing you.”
Erin's hazel eyes narrowed at Voight's words. Why was he being untruthful? “Can you at least verify with the prison?” she requested.
Voight shook his head. “No. Are you experiencing any difficulties?” he asked, observing Erin's anxious demeanor.
“I'm fine,” she responded, biting her lip.
"I don't believe you're being paranoid," Voight said, his gaze narrowing as Erin's confusion etched on her face. "You've just returned to work."
Erin's brow furrowed as she noticed Voight checking his phone once more. "Hank?" she murmured, disturbed by his dismissiveness. "Why not call and confirm?"
"Because I'm certain Henley is incarcerated. If he wasn't, news would report it," Voight snapped, meeting Erin's wide hazel eyes. "Hank?" she repeated, rising to her feet.
Voight shook his head. "Crowley has advised me not to allow your return until she believes you're capable. Go home, Erin."
Erin's surprise was evident. "What? Why?" she asked, incredulous at Voight's statement. "Hank, please tell me you're joking.”
"Are you questioning my words?" Voight demanded, rising from his chair. "Crowley instructed me to inform you that you're suspended until further notice." His piercing gaze met her wide hazel eyes.
Erin retreated, reluctant to provoke his anger. Unsure of her transgression, she protested, "You want me to leave?" Her voice trembled slightly.
Voight remained silent, his expression unyielding. Erin swallowed hard and stepped towards the door. "If that's your wish," she uttered, tears welling up in her eyes.
As Voight remained silent, Erin burst through the door and hurried down the stairs. She was oblivious to the curious stares from her colleagues, who had likely overheard the exchange in the office.
Voight watched Erin storm out of his office. He hadn't wanted her to know that Henley was out of prison, and he'd protected her by doing so.
However, he'd also fired her without further explanation, and he was unsure of his own motives. Shaking his head, he knew Erin would eventually recover from this.
Al glanced at Voight's office and saw Antonio rushing after Erin. He got up and entered the office to investigate.
Jay bit his lip as he watched his boyfriend pursue Erin. He'd intended to follow her himself, but he'd hesitated after seeing her leave Voight's office. He exchanged a confused look with Jamie.
Once outside, Erin took a deep breath and wondered why Voight had suddenly forbidden her from working.
The brunette checked her phone for any messages from Justin but frowned when none appeared. "Erin," Antonio called, getting her attention. Erin turned to face him.
"What do you need, Tony?" Erin asked, her voice weary. "I just want to go home and be alone."
"What happened?" Antonio inquired anxiously. "What did you do to upset Voight?"
Erin shrugged. "I genuinely don't know," she said, shaking her head. "I asked him about a suspect, and he flipped out."
"But he wouldn't fire you just for that," Antonio said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Unless..."
Erin's eyes widened slightly. "Unless what?" she asked.
Antonio hesitated. "Never mind."
Erin shrugged off his hand. "Whatever it is, I'll see you later, Tony," she said, walking down the steps to her car.
