16th Entry
Dear Diary,
I herd Daddy last nite.
He was cryin gain.
I went to him.
I wish I dint.
Bye.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Daddy?"
Cathy climbed onto John's lap before he could protest or wipe his eyes. She reached up slowly, once he looked at her. She wiped his tears away, making him smile through his tears.
"What're you don', Lily?"
"I miss Mommy too." She told him.
John ran his hand down Cathy's long hair. She didn't like it short, always caused a fuss when it needed cut. No matter how big of a tomboy she was, she wanted her hair long.
"I know."
"Daddy, it's ok to be sad. Mommy would be sad if she was here to see us sad."
"I know."
"I don't wanna be sad no more."
"Why?"
"'Cause I'm scared I'll forget how to be happy again." She told him. She bit her lip. "Daddy?"
"Yeah?"
"What started the fire? Was it magic like the funny lady can do?"
"Missouri isn't funny, and no. It was...well..."
"Yes, Daddy?" She looked at him, eyes wide.
"There was something in Sammy's room."
