Liam leaned down to lovingly kiss Dean, then rearranged himself so that he was lying with his arms on Dean’s chest looking at him with a wicked grin. Dean chuckled. “I don’t know what got into you this morning, but wow.”
Liam’s fingertips explored Dean’s bare chest. “Enjoy that, did you? Well, it’s gonna come with a price, my dear.”
Dean sighed. “You’re supposed to tell me what strings are attached before you go getting all nice and friendly like that.”
Liam pulled himself up so that their faces were only inches apart. “I just want you to talk to me. I don’t think that’ll kill you.”
“Talk to you about what?”
“Sam and everything. Dean, I know you, as well as your brother, maybe even better. I know you don’t like to delve too much into feelings, but this, it has to have some effect.”
Dean shook his head. “You and Natalie are the only people who have ever gotten me to talk about my feelings, you know that? And you’re both good at picking times when I’m the most vulnerable.”
“So spill. You say you love me. You say you want to be with me. Start putting your money where your mouth is.”
“I’m worried, okay? Randomly coughing up blood is not normal. What if we go out on a hunt and he gets weak or something? What if he gets himself and maybe us killed? What if he can’t handle the other two trials?”
Liam’s finger lightly brushed Dean’s cheek. “I’m worried too. Truth is we don’t know what to expect here. But if you’ll remember the end of our last little adventure, Sam promised not to keep secrets anymore. You’re just going to have to put a little faith in him.”
“I guess.”
“You do know I love you, right?”
“I would hope so. I love you too, very much. Why don’t we go get some breakfast?”
They dressed and went downstairs. Natalie was sitting by the counter breast feeding Rayna while Sam was tending to the boys. “I set some peanut butter toast out for you guys on the island,” Sam said when he saw them come into the kitchen.
“Thanks,” Dean said as he went to grab his plate. “Look at you, all dad like. You don’t give yourself enough credit.”
“Yeah, well,” Sam gave a little sigh. “John, buddy, you wanna go wait out in the sitting room? As soon as Mommy is done giving your sister breakfast she’ll take you to preschool, okay?”
Dean watched as the little boy left the room. “I guess what you have to say next is monster related.”
“Yeah, it is. There have been a bunch of killings in Conway Spring, Kansas. Looks a lot like vampires to me.”
“And you want us to go kill them.”
“Yeah, that’s kinda what we do.”
“Alright then. Babe, let’s eat and pack at the same time,” Dean motioned to Liam to follow him. When they were in the car Dean turned to his brother. “And you’re sure you’re okay for this?”
“Dean...” Sam sighed. “Except for being sleep deprived from having a newborn again, I mostly feel fine. And I can take a nap while you drive.”
“Mostly fine?”
“If I’m having a problem I’ll tell you, okay? Just drive.”
“You haven’t told Natalie have you?”
“She knows about the tablet and the trials, but not the rest of it. She really doesn’t need the stress of this hanging over her.”
They reached Kansas a little before dinner and stopped by the police department to talk to the sheriff. “FBI? You're here about the Lady Killer Murders, aren't you?”
“The Lady Killer Murders?” Sam raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, coined it myself.”
“Congratulations. What can you tell us?” Dean asked.
“Well, both victims were female, under twenty one, and here's the kicker, they were drained of all their blood.”
“Huh,” Sam pretended to be surprised.
“Exactly. We found that strange, also. But then last night, things got even stranger.” He motioned for them to follow him over to a computer. “We set up a security cam on Fuller's Point for safety purposes. It’s where our local young people like to go make out. Last night, things got crazy.” He showed them a video of a man pulling a girl out of a car window, and then a young man came up from behind and beheaded him. Another girl joined them shortly after. “Hell of a thing, ain't it?”
“Uh, you ID any of these people?” Sam asked.
“Well, not yet. Crime scene was empty when we got there. No victim, no nothing. Uh, I'm thinking it's some kind of cult or a drug thing. So I put a statewide APB out on these three about an hour ago.”
“I'm gonna need you to call that off. And we're gonna need this footage,” Dean said with a strange look on his face.
“What?” the sheriff didn’t seem to like that idea.
“Sheriff, why do you think we're here? You just crossed streams with a federal investigation. Now, I suggest you cooperate, call off your APB, or you're gonna find yourself in a world of hurt.”
“Uh, right...” the sheriff nodded and did as requested.
“So, what was that all about, G-man?” Sam asked his brother once they were in the parking lot.
“You remember Krissy Chambers?”
“Uh, yeah, the Vetalas case, right? They were working that truck stop by the freeway. She and her dad helped us shut them down.”
“Right, and then he promised to go civilian so she wouldn't grow up to be a hunter. Well, guess who the star of this snuff film is.”
“Come on. Well, maybe he doesn't know she's doing this.”
“What, sneaking out in the middle of the night to go hunt monsters with the Apple Dumpling gang? Is that what kids are doing for kicks these days?”
“Okay. Then maybe he knows, and he's helping her out.”
“What, get caught on Candid Camera? Let's just go find her before she gets into any more trouble.”
It only took them about an hour and the bribing of a motel desk clerk with a lot of cash to find Krissy and the room she was staying in. They went up to the room and Sam picked the lock. The room seemed empty when they stepped inside, but they soon heard the click of a gun behind them. “Hey, Krissy,” Dean greeted her without even looking.
“What are you three doing here?” she seemed annoyed.
“Saving your bacon, that's what,” Dean answered.
“Does it look like my bacon needs saving? Wait. How'd you find me? I paid cash everywhere.”
Dean smirked. “Only two hotels within a twenty mile radius, and we paid cash too, just more.”
“Freaking clerk.”
“Krissy, where's your dad?” Sam asked.
“Dead. Well, let's do this again, like, never. Now go. We got this.”
“We who?” Sam asked. “And got what?”
“A vampire,” she answered while walking back over to a laptop.
“Sorry. A what?” Dean raised an eyebrow.
They watched the live video feed of the two others with Krissy going into another room that had a woman tied to the bed. Sam, Dean, and Liam all rushed to the room with Krissy behind them. When they got there a male vampire had thrown Josephine into a wall and was trying to make a run for it. When he saw the three men he turned and then jumped out of the second story window. “I got him!” Krissy yelled out as she gave chase.
“Son of a bitch!” Dean growled as he and Liam chased after Krissy.
Once they were on the street Krissy shot the vampire in the knee with a dart gun and he dropped. “Don't shoot me! Please, don't! Please...It hurts so bad!” he whimpered.
“How did you drop him so quickly?” Dean asked.
“Darts filled with dead man's blood.”
“Where's the blue van?”
“What blue van?”
“The blue van that he was seen bolting to? Never mind.” Dean pulled a machete out and moved to decapitate the vampire.
“Wait, stop! This is not your kill,” Krissy stopped him.
“What are you talking about?”
Josephine came out. “Three months ago, this blood banger snuck into a house and killed three people in their sleep.”
“What?! No! I didn't do that!” the vampire protested.
“One was a woman, never hurt anyone! The other two, a brother and a sister.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
“I came home from a friend's house, and I found them. They were my family!”
“This isn't happening. I didn't do anything, I swear. Please, help me!”
Josephine ignored the vampire’s pleas and drew her machete to take off his head. Krissy moved to hug her. “It's okay. It's over.”
Dean glared at Krissy. “We need to talk to you privately.”
“You know these guys?” Aiden looked at Krissy funny.
“Yeah. We have a past,” she answered simply as she followed the men away from her friends.
Dean gave her a stern look. “All right. So, you're gonna have to catch me up. What did your dad, uh, he couldn't quit the life, could he?”
“No, he did. For a while, it was amazing. We had dinner every night at a table. We watched TV, went on walks. Even went to the mall.”
“And then?”
“And then the past came a knockin'. I woke up one morning and found him dead, his throat ripped out.”
“Well, I'm sorry.”
“Me too. If it weren't for Josephine and Aiden, I don't know how I would have made it.”
“So, they both lost their families, as well?”
“Yeah, the same vamps we're hunting together, a nest.”
“And this doesn’t strike you as at all odd?” Liam asked.
“No,” she gave him a bit of a nasty look. “That’s what vampires do. If I remember right, you should know.”
“I do know, and that’s why I’m a little unsettled by all of this. Also, that kill was way too easy. You do know that, right?”
“So? We’re just that good.”
“Well, look, I am sorry to rain on your parade, but you are way too young to be doing this,” Dean interrupted.
Krissy shot him a glare. “You're never too young to kill monsters, especially the ones that kill your family.”
“Hunting isn't all about killing and revenge. I thought we had this chat last time. Do you have any, uh,
do you have any family that's still out there?”
“An aunt in Cincinnati. Why?”
“Because you're packing a bag, and we're taking you there.”
“I think Victor's gonna have a problem with that.”
“Victor?”
“He took us in, showed us everything we know.”
“Wait. So, what are we talking here? Some sort of kid's school for hunters?”
“Don't be such a dweeb, okay? We're not the X-Men. Victor's helping us get revenge.”
“Yeah, well, I don't care what he is. He sucks. Because you and your little crew here got caught.
And if it wasn't for me, your faces would be splattered all over the news.”
“Well, you know, so what? Maybe it's time that people know the truth about what's really going bump in the night.”
“Oh, and cause panic? Create mayhem? Yeah, that's a great plan.”
“Look, I don't need you to save me, Dean. I'm not a little kid anymore,” she huffed and walked away.
“Wow...” Dean sighed. They watched as the teenagers wrapped the vampire’s body in plastic. Dean turned to Liam. “You really think that kill was too easy?”
“Yeah. He didn’t put up any fight. He pleaded with them. He was young, and unless this nest has some radically different ideas than any of the others I’ve been around, he shouldn’t have been in that hotel room alone.”
“What do you mean?” Sam asked.
“Okay, so, the first year is generally considered your training year. If you go out and hunt at all, it’s with a much older and more experienced vampire, usually your sire, so you can watch and learn. I wasn’t allowed to leave my first nest headquarters alone, ever, for exactly one year. The night I killed my sire was the first night I was allowed out on my own.”
Dean looked thoughtful for a moment. “That is a very interesting piece of information right there. Could you tell exactly how old he was?”
“Not without being able to smell his scent, no. But judging by his reaction to us alone, I’d say not very old at all.”
Sam turned to his brother. “Dean, didn't we meet up with a hunter named Victor one time in Spokane?”
“That's a long time ago. I haven't heard about him since.”
Sam sighed. “Alright, so, these kids are-”
“Dangerous and off their meds? Yeah, no kidding.”
“So, what? We go and talk with Victor?”
“Yeah. Given what we just learned from our in house vampire expert, I don’t like what I’m seeing. I want to look more into this.”
They followed the kids all the way to a quaint looking house not far away. On the way inside Dean looked around. “Huh.”
“What's wrong?” Krissy turned back to him.
“It's just not what I expected.”
“And what was that?”
“A little more ‘Lord of the Flies’, less Huxtables.”
A man came in with a smile. “Sorry to disappoint. Victor Rogers.”
Sam gave him a little nod. “We met, a rugaru hunt in Washington. I'm Sam. This is Dean. That’s Liam.”
“Oh, yes. The Winchesters. Right. Plus one more I see.”
Josephine moved toward him and he hugged her. “Better now?” he asked her.
“Much,” she nodded.
“And what do we always say?”
“Move on, but never forget.”
“Good. Now, don't you have a trig test in the morning?”
She smiled with a little nod and headed upstairs. Aiden came in from the kitchen with an apple in his hand. “Oh, I'm good, Vic. No test. I'm just gonna chill.”
“Uh huh,” Victor gave him a look.
“Play video games.”
“Yeah, keep dreaming. Because I asked you to clean your room twice and you still haven't done it. Go on.”
Aiden rolled his eyes but headed upstairs as well. “And you,” Victor turned to Krissy.
“A full report about the hunt on your desk by morning.” Victor clapped his hands together and gave her a little bow. “Okay. I'll be in my room.”
Victor then turned to the men. “Drink?”
“Sure,” Dean answered.
They moved to the couch while Victor brought them drinks. “So, these kids go to school, like real school?” Sam asked.
“Yes, and they're doing incredibly well considering all they've been through.”
Dean took a small sip. “Okay, so how does this work? What, after soccer practice and the bake sale, they, uh, chop vampires' heads off?”
“Well, yeah. I think a balanced approach is best, don't you?”
“They're kids. They shouldn't be hunting at all. You got to break this up right now.”
“When I found them, they were lost, confused, angry. I gave them family and purpose. And you want to take all that away? Why?”
“So they don't get killed,” Sam answered.
“They know the risks.”
“Yeah, but why take them?”
“Because the next generation of hunters has to be better.”
“Better than what?”
“Better than us. Oh, come on, guys. I know your friends. I mean, Martin was insane. And somebody obviously dropped Garth on his head when he was a baby. And I know you two loved that Bobby guy, but he was a barely functional alcoholic.”
“Watch it,” Dean growled.
“No disrespect meant, but Josephine is an all state athlete and National Merit scholar. Aiden is so fast he could pick your pocket before you could even blink. And Krissy, oh she's just a natural born leader and hunter.”
“So what?” Dean still didn’t seem to understand.
“So these kids are the cream of the crop. They are the Beatles. They are the dream team. And once they get their revenge they'll be better hunters than any of us ever dreamed of.”
They got up and walked outside. “This is crazy,” Dean sighed.
“Is it? They got a pretty good life,” Sam seemed to have another idea.
“Kids aren't supposed to hunt, Sam.”
“We did.”
“Yeah, and look what that did for us.”
“Well, maybe they're doing it right. Maybe they can hunt and have a real life.”
“You know that's not true.”
“Why, because it didn't work for us?”
“Because it doesn't work for anybody.”
“Okay, then what do you want to do? Because Victor's not gonna stop this.”
“They said they were hunting a nest, right?”
“Yeah,”
“Well, let's hunt it for them. Well, that way, until we can figure out what to do with Victor, they stay safe.”
“Alright, um...So, what's your move?”
“I want to talk to that girl who was tied up at the hotel. Liam is right, something didn't smell right about that. Why don't you stay here and look after the Brady Bunch? Come on, Babe.”
The next morning they found the girl at the police station after she had been interviewed by the cops. “Like I told the cops already, I'm not sure why Jimmy Day would do something like this.”
“Jimmy Day? Wait, so you knew the guy that grabbed you?” Dean seemed surprised.
“Everyone in town knows Jimmy. He's a hero. We had a parade for him downtown when he came back from Afghanistan.”
“Uh, sorry. When was this?”
“A few weeks ago.”
“So, uh, this Jimmy Day guy, he just grabbed you and took you to the hotel?”
“No. I came from work and was in the parking lot when this blue van pulled up. This guy with a hoodie asked me directions. That's all I remember, till I woke up tied to that bed.”
“And was hoodie there, too?”
“Just Jimmy, and he was crying, saying he was sorry and all. That he was sorry? At first I thought he was gonna kill me. But then he just... he just seemed scared.”
When they got back in the car Dean turned to Liam. “You are definitely right about something being off here. I’m gonna call Sam.” He took out his phone and dialed.
“How did it go with the girl?” Sam asked when he answered.
“Strange. Liam’s gut was right on. He was fresh made within the month, but Josephine's family was murdered three months ago.”
“So, who killed them, then?”
“I don't know. I'd like to talk to whoever is driving that blue van. Other than that...You?”
“Something's up. Victor says he has a surveillance photo of the vampire that killed Krissy's father.
But, Dean, I'm not so sure.”
“Why’s that?”
“There's no time stamp on it.”
“Okay. So you think he's lying?”
“Well, that, or he's just wrong. It's hard to say.”
“Yeah, I never trust a guy who wears a sweater. You want me to head back there?”
“No. I'm good. Let me do some more digging.”
“Alright. I'm gonna talk to the hotel clerk, see what he knows.”
They drove back to the hotel and walked up to the front desk. The clerk gave them a smile. “Ahh. Nice to see you again.”
Dean grabbed some cash out of his wallet and tossed it on the counter. “Yeah, I bet. Listen, I need to know who, uh, checked into room 215 yesterday.”
The clerk picked up the money and counted it. “It was some guy wearing a hoodie, so it was hard to make out his face.”
“He drive a blue van, by any chance?”
“Do I look like a valet? He took one of those,” the clerk motioned to a rack of brochures on the wall.
“Which one?” Dean went over to the rack.
“The one that says lodge on it.”
Dean picked one up. “Conway Springs Lodge?”
“Yep, big during the summer season. But this time of year, it's closed.”
“How far away is it from here?”
“Oh, it's a couple miles down the road.”
They got in the car and drove up a country road to the lodge. Dean parked by a building and turned to Liam. “What do you think?”
Liam looked around. “It’s definitely nice and secluded since the place is closed. It’s perfect vampire nesting material.”
They got out of the car, Dean carrying a machete and Liam gripping his silver knife. They saw that one of the doors was open a crack, so Dean opened it the rest of the way and shined his flashlight inside before stepping into the room, Liam right behind him. Not too far in was a young woman on a bed. “Hey! Who the hell are you?” Dean called out.
“Please make it go away. It hurts so much.” Dean saw a light switch and he turned on the lights. “No, shut them off! They're too bright!”
“Not till you tell me what the hell's going on here,” Dean insisted.
“I don't know!” Her fangs popped out for a second and she brought her hands to her face. “What's happening to me?”
“That's never happened to you before?” Dean asked.
“No, there's something wrong with me. That guy, he did something to me.”
“What guy?”
“I don't know! This guy in a blue van, he grabbed me. He took me here.” She doubled over in pain. “Oh, my stomach. It hurts so much.”
Dean turned to Liam, but saw Krissy, Aiden, and Josephine behind them with guns. “Dean!” Krissy cried out.
“Put those away, and we can talk,” Dean ordered.
“Why are you with the vampire that killed my dad?”
“You're barking up the wrong tree. She didn't kill your pops.”
“I don't want to hurt you, Dean, but I will if you don't move.”
“Listen to me, Krissy. She's innocent.”
“And how would you know that?” Josephine asked.
“Because she’s a newborn,” Liam answered. “Her transformation isn’t even complete yet. My guess is she was turned sometime early this morning.”
“And what makes you the vampire expert?” Aiden snorted.
“Oh, I don’t know. I only was one for three hundred and seventeen years. What could I possibly know?” he said sarcastically.
“You’re a vampire?” Aiden moved his gun to Liam.
“He was,” Dean pulled Liam closer. “My brother and I found a cure. And we’re going to cure this girl too.”
“What?” Aiden looked at Dean in disbelief.
“She hasn't fed yet. We can reverse this if we find her maker and get his blood.”
Aiden rolled his eyes. “And why should we care about her?”
“Like I said, hunting isn't always about killing. It’s about helping people. Curing Liam was not an easy task because of his age, but he asked us to do it. I don’t regret it for a second.”
Aiden shook his head. “Oh, please. Preach to some other choir. We're not buying it.”
“You want to kill an innocent girl?”
“I want the blood sucker who killed my dad to pay,” Krissy answered.
“And we're gonna find out who that is. But let's not be so bloodthirsty that just anyone will do.”
“But Victor says it's her,” Josephine argued.
Liam sighed. “You three are prime examples of why blind obedience is a really bad thing.”
“Excuse me?” Josephine eyed him.
“You are playing with life and death solely on Victor’s word. Have you ever once asked him where he gets his intel?”
“Well, no...” Krissy admitted.
“Have you ever actually watched him do research, seen the source for yourselves?”
“No.”
“So for all you know he’s pulling things out of his ass to keep you three hooked on his every word to fill some deep psychological need. You can’t see the forest for the trees to realize something ain’t right here. That vampire last night, he was no killer. He begged you, and every vampire I have ever come across that’s more than a few months turned, they put up a fight like you wouldn’t believe. Just walking up to a true predator and swinging a machete, that wouldn’t turn out well for any of you. Oh, and lets add to the fact that we interviewed the girl we saved. She knew him. In fact, she said he came back from really sunny Afghanistan only a few weeks back. Riddle me this, Josephine. How exactly did he murder your family and serve in Afghanistan at the same time?”
She blinked. “I don’t...”
“Of course you don’t. My point exactly.”
Dean helped the girl up off the bed. “Okay, so, why don’t we pack this one up to go, and go have a little heart to heart with Victor and clear some things up?”
“Maybe we should,” Krissy agreed.
They arrived at the house and Dean was first through the door. He saw Victor pointing a gun at him, Sam tied up in a chair in the corner, furniture overturned, and a man in a hoodie. “Hey, we're home,” Dean greeted Victor.
When the kids came in the man in the hoodie greeted them with bared fangs. “What is going on here?” Josephine was shaken.”
“These three are not to be trusted. They're trying to destroy us!” Victor cried.
“Do you know this vamp, Victor?” Aiden asked.
“Of course he does! They're working together!” Sam cried out.
“Is that true?” Aiden looked horrified.
“It's complicated,” Victor answered.
Dean shook his head. “No, actually, it's not. See, blue van here's been turning fresh vamps and setting them up for you kids as easy kills.”
Krissy looked upset. “They didn’t kill our families, did they?”
“No,” Victor confirmed.
“Well, then who did?” Josephine was now a little angry.
“I did,” the vampire smirked. “And they all screamed and begged for mercy, especially the little ones.”
“Enough, Seth!” Victor shouted and turned to Dean. “You have to understand. I saw a way to make the future better. But to get there, I had to do something hard.”
Krissy shot Victor a nasty glare. “He killed them off your orders?”
“You needed motivation. I scouted each and every one of you. And knew it was the only way to get you to hunt. I know, the deaths are tragic. But think of all the future lives that will now be saved because you are now together.”
“So, these fake vampires were just a way for you to train us and fill our heads with lies? Liam was right, you’re a psychopath!”
“Don't you see? This is bigger than all of us. We have to learn to put things in perspective. Come with me. We can get past this.” He tossed his gun to the couch, but they all shook their heads no. “That is unfortunate.” He gave a little look to Seth and the vampire grabbed Aiden and held him close. “We're leaving.”
Krissy stepped in front of him looking determined. “That's not happening.”
“I taught you everything you know. Don't make me hurt you.”
“Not everything, Victor.” Before anyone could react Krissy shot Seth with the darts, one in the eye and the other in the chest. Then she pulled a handgun and aimed it right at Victor.
“Krissy, don't,” Dean urged.
“If we want revenge for our families' deaths, he gives it to us!”
“We don't kill people. You don't kill people.”
“He's not a person. He's a monster.” She advanced on Victor who sank to his knees.
“Krissy, this ends bad, no matter what we do,” Sam said as Liam moved to untie him.
“Exactly.” She cocked the gun. “This is for my dad.” She pulled the trigger, but it only clicked. The gun wasn’t loaded. “For Josephine's family,” she pulled the trigger again while Victor flinched and panted. “For Aiden. For me.” When she was done she dropped the bullets to the floor beside him.
“So, we're just gonna let him live?” Aiden looked disappointed.
Krissy nodded. “Yeah. All alone, with himself. No family. No friends. Ask me, that's not much of anything. Let's save that girl.”
While no one was watching him Victor pulled a gun from his sock holster. He tried to quickly aim at Dean, but a shot rang out and he fell to the floor, blood oozing from the hole now in his head. Dean looked to Liam who was still holding the gun. “Damn you’re fast,” he shook his head.
Liam lowered the gun and just shrugged. “I guess the thought of living alone was too much for him. Take a mental note, I’m always right.”
Dean chuckled and pulled Liam close. “I wouldn’t say always, but you are pretty smart.” He leaned in to kiss his mate.
“Gross!” Aiden gagged a little.
“Deal with it,” Dean shot him a look.
It took them until the next morning to gather the ingredients and brew the cure for the newly turned girl. Of course they also had to dispose of Victor and Seth, which was done with a proper burning in a vacant field. Once all was set right they stood by the door with Krissy. “Proud of you,” Dean gave her a little smile.
“Shut up before I punch you.”
“Okay. Whenever you're ready, we'll be in the car.”
“What are you talking about?” Krissy looked a little confused.
“Your aunt? Cincinnati? Normal life? We'll be there by lunch tomorrow.”
Krissy looked over to her friends who were with the girl. “Look, I hate how we were put together, but I can't deny that it feels right. And why should I let Victor ruin that, too?”
“Well, you're all still minors,” Dean pointed out.
“Not for long. Josephine will be eighteen in a few months. And we all have a life and each other here.”
“And hunting?”
“We won't go looking for it. But if any monsters show up around here, they better look out.”
Dean gave a little nod. “Okay, good.”
“Really? I thought I was gonna have to fight you way more on that.”
“Well, you're right. You're not a kid anymore. You can make your own decisions.”
She gave him a little smile. “You're all right for an old guy.”
“I'm really not that old.”
“You keep telling yourself that.”
Liam chuckled. “You’re old.”
Dean raised an eyebrow. “Look who’s talking. I wasn’t around to personally witness the American Civil War, or the Revolution for that matter.”
“Hey, my driver’s license says I’m seven years younger than you.”
“And it’s fake. Anyway,” he turned back to Krissy. “I'm gonna have a guy come and check on you every once in a while, okay? His name is Garth. He'll make sure that you're all right and you got what you need. He's a little strange at first, but you'll come to love him.”
Dean held out his fist for a bump, but instead she leaned up to kiss his cheek. “Take care, Dean.”
She went back to her friends and they all slipped out the door. “This is good,” Sam said as they walked back to the car.
“Is it?” Dean didn’t seem quite so sure.
Sam shrugged. “Could have been a lot worse.”
“Will be if we don't shut those gates of hell soon.”
“What do they have to do with any of that?”
“They're hunters now. You don't just walk away from that. There's only one way out of that, and you and I both know it ain't pretty.”
“Maybe they'll be different.”
“Or maybe if we shut that hell hole once and for and all, those three can have a real life,” Dean got in the driver’s seat.
“Maybe they won't be the only ones,” Sam said as he settled into the passenger seat.
