Liam came down the stairs to find Dean watching as John showed Sam pictures he drew at the kitchen table. “Don’t tell me you’re not jealous,” the blond crossed his arms.
Dean let out a frustrated sigh and turned to his husband. “Why do you always bring that up? Do you get some kind of perverse pleasure in starting fights? Is it that you want me to leave you for some hot chick?”
“I don’t want you to,” Liam leaned against the banister. “But I’m always afraid that you will. You want what Sam has. Hell, I want what Sam has, but when I found out where babies come from I knew I would never have it.”
Dean wrapped an arm around Liam’s waist and pulled him a little closer. “I won’t insult you by lying to you. Yeah, when we come home and John and Nathan are so happy to see Sam, I wish there was a little one to miss me. I can still do stuff with the boys, but I’m not their dad, I’m just their uncle.”
Liam rested his head against Dean’s chest. “That’s the thing. I can’t give you that.”
“Look, some things in life we don’t get to decide, and who we fall in love with is one of those things. I don’t think I’m really dad material anyway.”
“Why is that? You’re good with the kids?”
Dean ran his fingers through Liam’s hair. “For short periods of time. Liam, I’m messed up a lot like you’re messed up. Have you already forgotten how I recently retreated inward, picked up old habits, and kept from you what was going on?”
“No, but I wasn’t going to harp on it.”
“Do you really think either of us are stable enough to be fully responsible for another little human being?”
Liam thought about it a minute. “Probably not.”
“Yeah, Sam is the father type. He left hunting to go to law school and have a normal life. Then he got dragged back into it, but thank god he still got a shot at what he wanted. I know he worries about it because we’re not here that much and our lives are constantly on the line, but… You and I, it was for different reasons, but we both had to grow up too fast and deal with twisted reality.”
“True,” Liam couldn’t really argue. “So you’re honestly okay with just being Uncle Dean?”
“Babe, life is about give and take. I really am okay with it because you give me what no woman in my life ever has.”
“Like what?”
“Like you come hunting with us. I mean, I’m always afraid for your safety, and being together all the time can cause friction, but I see the strain between Sam and Natalie. They seem to be making it work well enough, but I don’t think I could it. And you make a very good person to lean on. When I finally told you what was going on with me, you weren’t happy that I hid everything from you, but you told me everything was going to be okay. It may not be, but like you said, at least I have you. You give me what I need and you don’t ask for that much in return. I have never met anyone quite like you. Feel better now?”
Liam wrapped his arms around Dean. “For the moment. I’ll probably always feel like there’s something wrong with me though.”
Dean kissed the top of his head. “Just don’t forget that I love you, flaws and all. And you know you’re the first person I ever said that to.”
Liam smiled a little. “That makes me feel a bit special. But I have to go check on the ribs and then set the table for dinner.”
After dinner Dean and Liam were cleaning up when Natalie came over to them. “I really do like it when you guys are here. The kids like it too. They’re growing like weeds.”
“They are,” Dean agreed as he put away the clean plates. “Natalie, I know we keep Sam away too much, and I’m sorry, it’s just-”
“Don’t start sounding like Sam,” she interrupted him. “I know, you keep thinking that after you deal with one crisis then you’ll be able to take a breather, but then another one just pops right up.”
“Pretty much,” Dean nodded. “And as much as we all like being here, the bunker has the resources that we need.”
“I know,” she sighed. “Sometimes I think about coming out to visit though just to see my husband.”
“I don’t think the bunker is exactly child proof, but maybe...”
Sam came over with his phone in his hand. “Hey, uh, I just talked to Jody. She said she could use some help.”
Liam sighed. “I guess that means we’re leaving in the morning.”
Sam patted him on the shoulder. “I know, hobbit, but we can’t ignore stuff like this.”
“Will you be coming back?” Natalie asked.
“Not right away,” Sam frowned. “We’ve talked about this. I agreed to coming back here for a bit because I really wanted to see you and the kids, but there is so much on our plate right now.”
“Angels and demons all at the same time, yeah, I know,” she leaned against the counter. “But since you’re here now, you guys got the kids?”
Sam nodded. “I’ll put Rayna to bed, I want to spend as much time with her as possible. I think she doubled in size while I was gone.”
“And Dean and I will get the boys a bath and then to bed,” Liam volunteered.
The next day they pulled into the police station and Jody was waiting for them. “You boys are a sight.”
“Jody,” Sam greeted her. “How's the shoulder?”
She shrugged. “Eh, only aches when it rains. How you boys been?”
“Touch and go,” Sam answered.
“I know the feeling.”
“So, what you got for us?” Dean asked.
Jody glanced around for a moment before leading them over to her squad car and opening the trunk. There was the body of a beheaded young man. Sam reached to probe his mouth and found a fang. “Yeah, uh, that's a vamp, all right.”
Dean looked to his brother. “I don't know, Sammy. Looks like Jody might not need our help anymore.”
“Oh, they grow up too fast,” Sam joked.
Jody didn’t seem amused. “Yeah, joke all you want. There's more where this came from.”
“More?” Dean’s eyebrows raised.
“My men brought in a runaway last night. There's no ID on her, nothing on her actually, except for a bus ticket out of Nebraska. Total Jane Doe. She won't even give me her name. Girl's basically feral. She's got zero manners, didn't even thank me for saving her. Anyhow, this thing went to plenty of trouble to get at her. And to hear him tell it, the others will want her at least as bad as he did.”
Sam gave a little nod. “Sounds like a nest.”
“Nest?” Jody repeated the word. “I'm guessing that's not half as cute and cozy as it sounds.”
“You don’t wanna know, trust me,” Liam told her. “Where’s the girl?”
Jody took them to her and Sam started doing a fang check under the guise of a dental ID. The girl didn’t seemed convinced though. “You three are FBI, then I'm Taylor Swift. That wasn't a dental ID. It was a fang check. You're hunters.”
“And you're alive because, uh, hunters trained the sheriff,” Dean had a little snark in his tone. “I think the first words out of your mouth should be a thank you. So, who were you to this vamp, anyway? What's so special about you? Is there a nest?”
She wouldn’t answer, but Sam noticed some scars on her neck and poked Liam in the side to bring his attention to them. When she noticed them looking she pulled her collar closed. Jody popped her head in. “Sorry to interrupt. We got a match on her DNA.” They followed her out to see what she found. “Annie Jones. Reported abducted outside of Kenosha in '06. Raised by an elderly grandparent. No living kin. You think the vamps are the ones who took her?”
Dean turned to Liam looking a little surprised. “Eight years is a long time for a human to live with vampires without getting killed or turned.”
Jody just shrugged. “You're the experts, but there was something familiar about the way this vamp talked to her.”
“She did have old feeding scars on her,” Sam brought it up.
“Yeah, what I saw, they looked, well, some were old, and some were fresher. I… It’s not that common for a nest to keep a blood slave that long, but I don’t think it impossible.”
“Blood slave?” Jody raised an eyebrow at that.
“Yeah,” Liam nodded. “Believe me, it’s inconvenient to have to go hunting every night, and worse for a nest than a loner. That many people going missing every night, it would draw attention. So instead they often kidnap people, keep them as blood slaves. They feed on them as much as they can every night until they just kind of give out.”
Jody eyed the blond. “You sure do know a lot about vampires.”
Liam snorted. “And it wasn’t from reading books. Long story.”
“Yeah, but she seems loyal to them,” Dean didn’t seem to know what to make of that.
Jody was just as confused. “So...This girl's not talking because she's got a case of what? Vampiric Stockholm syndrome?”
“Maybe,” Liam shrugged as he headed back to the interrogation room with the others behind him.
“So, you feel a debt,” Sam said as he sat across the table from the girl.
“They gave you a home, raised you,” Dean joined his brother. “Annie, we get it. Loyalty is a very powerful thing.”
“My name is Alex,” she snapped at them.
Sam shook his head. “No, it's not. Your name is Annie Jones.”
“Those vampires stole you. They're monsters, Annie,” Dean tried to get through to her.
“Alex,” she insisted again.
“And they didn't love you. They loved your blood. They fed on you.”
“I fed them. My choice,” she started to get emotional. “My brothers, they brought me food when I was hungry. So when they struck out on a hunt, I fed them. They're my family.”
Sam gave her a look of understanding. “Okay, you care about them, but, Alex... There's a reason you decided to run away.”
“It was time to move on and get out on my own.”
“And how do you think that decision is gonna sit with the rest of the nest?” Dean asked. “One of them already pursued you. You think when the rest of them find out that you left that they're just gonna shrug and cut their losses?”
“You lived with them for years,” Sam pointed out. “They've tasted your blood. They have your scent down cold. I mean, how far can you run and for how long?”
“You didn't think this out, did you?” Dean guessed. “What would happen, who might get hurt; your, uh, brother, for one.”
A tear slid down her cheek. “His name's Cody. And she killed him,” she pointed to Jody who was listening in.
“Because of a choice you made,” Dean told her. “These are the consequences. You got two options, them or you. And we can help you. We can keep you safe. But you have to help us.”
She went silent again and Liam stepped up to the table. “That’s all right, I’ll find them,” he sounded a little cocky. “You better listen to me, and listen to me good, little girl. For a little over three hundred years I was a vampire. These two men here cured me.”
“Really?” she was surprised at that.
“Yep. I was more of a loner than the nesting type, but I stayed with my sire for a year, learning everything I could before I killed him, and likely a bunch of the others. And then I joined a few nests here and there for a short time as it suited me. I know the thinking process.” He leaned over toward her. “And you may not want to believe two hunters, but believe a former vampire, they don’t give a rat’s ass about you. They just don’t want you to leave because that would be a liability.” He headed back for the door. “I’ll need a computer and that train ticket.”
Jody put Liam on the station’s computer and stood beside him lost in thought while he did his thing. Dean came over holding a cup of coffee. “Mills, you okay?”
“No wonder she didn't thank me. That creep was her brother. I'm fine. You know, mostly, I'm just hung up on the name. Alex and Annie, they're so close already. Why'd they change it?”
Dean put a hand on Liam’s shoulder. “Got anything for us?”
Liam was writing a few things down. “Well, O'Neill, Nebraska is not a big place thankfully. The uh, new in thing is to squat in abandoned houses because it feels more like a home. There are a few of those, we’re just going to have to search. Although there is the fact that their Alex is missing, and they’re looking for her. We can use that too.”
“Okay,” Dean nodded and turned to Jody. “You sure you're all right to babysit by yourself?”
“Oh, well, girl's a flight risk, not exactly friendly, but I think I can handle babysitting detail.”
“The station's been made. It might be worth heading upwind for a while. I mean, vamps are trackers,” Sam pointed out.
“Terrific,” Jody said sarcastically. “Well, I've got an old family cabin outside of town.”
“That’ll work,” Dean nodded.
“Okay. Well, shouldn't raise too many eyebrows, me being gone for a day.”
“Maybe, but you uh, sure you don't want backup?”
“You want me to enlist my men in a protection detail against vampires? Frank's still in the dark about what hit him last night. The guy still has nightmares about the barn episode of ‘Walking Dead’. They're good cops. They're not ready for this.”
“Jody, in your late night reading, did you ever come across anything about dead man's blood?” Sam asked.
“No.”
“It takes vamps down.”
“And gives them a hangover they’re not likely to forget,” Liam answered.
Jody looked him over. “Were you really a vampire?”
“Yes,” Liam answered simply. “And as always, I must stress the past tense part. You can check me for a pulse if you like.”
She gave a small smile. “That’s okay, I believe you. Just go get the rest of the nest.”
“With pleasure.”
Dean chuckled. “I think he enjoys killing vampires a little too much.”
“Can’t blame him,” Sam commented as they headed for the door.
Later that night they entered a second abandoned house, and this time there were beds on the floor and food in the kitchen. “This place is a foreclosure, right?” Dean asked.
“Yep,” Liam nodded.
Dean motioned to all the signs of life. “Well, somebody's squatting here.”
“Blacked out windows,” Sam pointed out.
“That likely means this is the place,” Liam said before they heard a loud machine noise.
Dean walked up to a guy operating a wood chipper out back. “Hey, you need a hand with that? Oh,” he pointed to a human hand sticking out. “I guess not.” The vampire bared his fangs and lunged at Dean, but Sam hit him in the head from behind with a shovel. They dragged him inside and tied him up good before waiting for him to wake up. “You go out with the family, bring home a nice dinner. How did you get stuck doing the dishes?” Dean asked when the vampire opened his eyes finally.
“We all have our roles to play.”
“Yours being destroying the evidence, yeah?” Sam guessed.
“And not in a very creative and untraceable fashion,” Liam commented.
“Ralph Hedges. Stacy Kepler. Any reason you targeted them?” Sam asked.
“Yeah, hunger,” the vampire lied.
“And, so, the family's what? Out taking a nice after dinner stroll?” Dean asked.
“Oh, I'm sure they'll be back real soon,” the vampire had a creepy smile on his face.
Liam looked unimpressed and pulled out his large silver knife. “And that’s supposed to scare me?”
“What I asked was..” Dean stepped forward and grabbed the vampire’s hair to jerk him so that their faces were inches apart. “Where are they?” The vampire was silent so Dean punched him in the gut. “You don't want to talk. No skin off my back because you see, a blood sucking, body chipping vamp, that's bad enough, but vamps that kidnap kids... Well, I'm going to enjoy putting you down.”
“Of course. Oh, I knew this was about Alexis. I warned mama that girl would screw everything up for us one day.”
“Mama?” Sam repeated. “As in one vamp turned you all?”
“Well, all of us but little sis. She was, uh, too good to turn. Mama couldn't bring herself to, no matter what we said, no matter how bad Alexis got.”
“Bad?” Dean was curious.
“Let me guess. You never had a teenage sister. Dragging her heels, whining, near constant, about everything, but more and more about the blood, like she's somehow above it, like she's better than us because she don't feed on people.”
“She is better than you, dumbass,” Dean growled.
“Her moping? That teenage crisis of conscience crap? It's annoying as hell, but it's just an act. When the chips are down, she'll always choose us over humans. I mean, how do you think we stayed off your radar all these years? Pretty, young, lost looking thing like her? Irresistible, especially to the kind of man few people would miss. I mean, sure, we hunt sometimes for sport, but it's a lot easier and a lot safer to get delivery.”
“She's your lure,” Liam came to the realization.
“Best a vamp could ask for. And you better believe you don't get that good at it unless you enjoy it. In her own sweet way, girl's as bloodthirsty as any vampire.”
Sam turned to Liam. “What do you think?”
The blond took a moment to process it all. “She didn’t want to betray the nest, but she did run away. I didn’t buy her time to move on line. Still, might be a good idea to give Jody a little warning.”
“I’ll call Jody,” Dean took out his phone.
“And I’ll find out more about their victims,” Sam grabbed his.
Liam turned to the vampire. “You’ve been so very helpful,” he said before slashing the monster’s head clean off.
Dean glared at him. “What if we weren’t done with him?”
Liam rolled his eyes. “Please. He wasn’t in a talking mood, only in being an asshole mood. Common for his species. And yeah, I enjoy taking down the monsters that fucked everything up for me.”
Dean looked a little offended. “You did get me out of the deal. Am I suddenly chopped liver?”
“No, you’re someone who was about to make an important phone call. Do that while I amuse myself.”
Dean tried calling Jody a few times, but she didn’t pick up. Sam’s call went a little better. He hung up and put his phone back in his pocket. “I just ran the victims' names through local PD. They both worked at the O'Neill bus station.”
Dean’s head fell back a little bit. “So they killed them for Alex's location.” Then his phone rang and he answered quick. “Jody?”
“Dean, what's up?” Jody’s voice came over the line.
“Listen to me. The vamps knew that Alex went to Sioux Falls, okay? They're probably already there. We're on our way there next. But there's something else. There's something about Alex.”
“It can wait. They're here,” there was a little fear in her voice.
“We're on our way.”
“Hurry,” she hung up.
“We moving?” Sam asked.
“Yeah,” Dean nodded.
“Would be smarter to stay here,” Liam pointed out. “If they’re at the cabin now we’ll never get there before they grab the girl and head back here.”
“A friend is danger, we gotta try, you sicko,” Dean grabbed Liam’s wrist to drag him out, batting the head hanging from a ceiling fan out of his way.
“Pikes have been done to death,” Liam mumbled as he was roughly shoved into the back of the car.
When they finally reached the cabin the found Jody lying in the yard. She was starting to come to. Sam ran over and knelt beside her. “Hey, you okay?”
“Where’s Alex?” Jody blinked a few times to get her bearings before she got to her feet.
“You tell us,” Sam looked around for any traces.
“They came and I tried to stop them.”
Dean gave a little nod. “And you got knocked out. Well, happens to the best of us.”
“Just lucky you're alive,” Sam commented.
“You think they went back to the nest?” Dean looked to Liam.
Liam gave him a ‘stupid question’ look. “Why do you think I suggested that we stay there rather than running all the way here?”
Dean made a choking motion with his hands. “This is one of those times you just annoy the crap out of me.”
“Why, because I was right?”
Sam sighed. “Who was right aside, the question now is what are they going to do when they find their brother’s head hanging from the ceiling fan over his torched body?”
“You just really don’t want to know,” Dean said when Jody looked like she was going to ask. “So we go back now.”
“I’m coming,” Jody said in a determined tone.
Dean gave her a funny look. “Uh, Jody? Hold on. You're hurt.”
“I’m coming,” she repeated.
“Jody, we can handle the nest on our own,” Sam jumped in.
“I don't give a fig about the nest. That girl was under my protection.”
Dean grabbed her arm. “Okay, that girl can't be trusted. She's a lure. She's a honey trap. She's been feeding people to those vamps!”
Jody pulled her arm back. “I don't care. Whatever she did, she did because they made her.”
“Oh, and that's a reason?” Dean seemed a little aggravated.
“She’s a kid!”
“Yeah, a kid who's been playing vampire murder since before she was in braces.”
“Jody, he's right. At best her loyalties are screwed,” Sam backed up his brother.
“And how do you even know she wants to be saved? For the past eight years, she has been baiting the hook for an entire nest. She's got more blood on her hands than most monsters we kill,” Dean pointed out.
“Are you saying she's on your list?” Jody was clearly upset.
Sam shook his head. “No, we're not saying that.”
“Well, not yet,” Dean added. “Look, it sucks, okay? It does. But with hunting monsters comes harsh truths. This is a clean up mission. It's not a rescue.”
“What is this even really about?” Sam asked curiously. “You barely know the girl.”
Jody huffed. “I'm coming. And if any one of you lays so much as a hand on Alex...You'll have to go through me.” She headed for the car and got into the backseat.
“We’ve wasted enough time arguing,” Liam commented as he went and got in the other side.
They drove back to the house and Jody leaned forward to get a good look. “Well, their truck's in the driveway.”
“So we're walking right into it,” Sam seemed slightly nervous.
Dean gave a little shrug as he parked. “Well, we've faced worse odds.”
Liam got a little smile on his face. “Remember what I did to that one nest when I followed you?”
“Yeah,” Dean nodded. “You’ve got some serious rage against vampires.” They got out of the car and he turned to Jody. “Jody. This is a raid, so tread lightly, stay close. Priority is clearing the nest. Alex comes second. You got it?”
“Got it,” she mumbled.
They went inside guns drawn and room by room cleared the first floor. Dean motioned for Jody to stay put as they went upstairs. Sam went one way, Dean and Liam another. When they went back to where Sam was one of the vampires was holding a shotgun to Sam’s back. “Drop it, both of you,” the vampire demanded.
Dean slowly lowered the machete in his hand, but Liam studied the situation. “Don’t be stupid,” Dean quietly mumbled to him.
With a soft sigh Liam let his knife drop. As soon as it clanged to the floor Dean was hit in the back of the head with a board and knocked out. Then that vampire roughly grabbed Liam’s arms and pulled them behind him. “You know, the last vampire to manhandle me like that was beheaded and set on fire.”
“Shut up!” the vampire spat and dragged him over to a chair to tie him up.
“Good luck getting him to shut up,” Sam commented as he too was tied up.
One of the vampires hovered over Sam. “Hell of a sight to come home to, my brother’s head hanging from the ceiling. No idea it was a Winchester that had done it. So, which one of you was it? Which one of you took off my brother's head? Was it you? Was it him? Pretty fitting, brother for a brother.”
“I did it, you moron,” Liam rolled his eyes. “You didn’t like my little art project? I took immense pleasure in it.”
The vampire rammed the butt of the gun into Liam’s stomach, causing him to wince a little. “You’re either stupid or cocky. Either way… This place has been a good home to us. But since you three had to come around and ruin it, we're gonna have to to hit the road and find a new one. And when we hit the road...we like to pack a lunch.” He pulled out some surgical tubing and a large bucket. “I just don’t know which one to drain first. Maybe the mouthy blond...”
“The mouthy blond is all mouth and no action,” Sam said quickly, earning a strange look from Liam.
The vampire smiled a little. “So sweet of you to volunteer. But if you’re doing it because you think he can get loose and save you, we’ll just shoot him.”
Liam could only watch and covertly try to get free while they started draining Sam’s blood. “This keg is tapped, get ready for the next one.”
The other vampire in the room turned to leave, stepping over Dean who hadn’t moved and kicked him in the back. But Dean suddenly sprang into action, unloading a syringe of dead man’s blood into the vampire’s leg. When that one dropped he picked up his machete and lunged at the one calling the shots. The two struggled until the vampire had Dean against the wall trying to press the machete into the hunter’s throat.
Liam managed to get free and grabbed his knife, severing the vampire’s head from behind. “Looked like you could use a little help.”
“I was fine!” Dean snapped, causing Liam to jump back a little.
“Guys...” Sam tried to get their attention.
Dean rushed over to his brother and removed the tubing from his arm. Liam took off his shirt and started bandaging the wound. “You should be okay,” he tried to assure Sam. “Just take it a bit easy and don’t make any sudden moves.”
“Thanks, but what about Jody?”
They searched the house quickly for her, eventually heading to the basement. Liam went first, ready for action, but all he saw was Jody beheading a female vampire while Alex looked away. “I guess she didn’t need our help after all,” the blond looked back to Dean who was a little ways behind him holding Sam steady. “Although… It does look like we have a problem,” his gaze turned to Alex who had blood smeared on her mouth.
“I just wanted to please Mama!” she cried. “But you said they cured you, right? That means there is a cure.”
“There is,” Liam nodded. “And since it looks like your transformation isn’t even one hundred percent complete yet, it’ll be easier for you than it was for me. I had a whole ‘Beauty and the Beast’ thing going on.”
“Are you saying I’m pretty?” Dean smirked as he left Sam leaning against the wall to collect a little blood from the vampire Jody killed.
Liam rolled his eyes. “Why do I put up with you?”
Dean shrugged. “Probably the same reason I put up with you. Also, as earlier stated by you, I’m very good looking.”
“Shut up and go start putting together the antidote.”
“Is it gonna hurt?” Alex asked quietly.
“Probably,” Liam answered. “Though your experience will be more like what Dean went through years back than what happened with me.”
“It’s like being hit with one hell of a case of the flu,” Dean said as he took the blood back to the car to get the rest of the stuff.
Once the antidote was mixed they let Jody give it to her and waited outside. “Another hairy situation, but we made it,” Liam leaned against the car.
“Yeah, sorry for snapping at you like I did,” Dean rubbed the blond’s shoulder. “I went a little out of control for a moment.”
“A little?” Sam was skeptical. “The look in your eyes...”
“I’ve got a handle on it,” Dean grumbled. “Besides, I was killing something that needed killed. Last I checked that was doing my job.”
“Sure...” Sam sighed as he and Liam exchanged worried looks.
Jody came over then. “How's things back at the station?” Dean asked.
“Well, they beat Frank up pretty bad, but at least they left him alive. He kept apologizing for spilling the beans about the cabin, but I told him that one's on me.”
Dean bit his lip for a second. “Well, speaking of apologies, um...We owe you a big one. We were wrong about the girl.”
She shook her head. “No. You were right about me. My judgment was clouded. You know, working this case, it brought feelings back. Feelings I've been trying to bury for years, you know, buried it under work, religion...even dating. We know how that worked out. But, you know, it was still there, underneath. The grief. Don't know what that means for me, just that I've been fooling myself to think that I could ignore it. Anyway, thank you for coming out, for curing Alex.”
Dean leaned against the car beside Liam. “Well, speaking from experience, it'll be a rough couple of days, but, she should pull through. You sure you don't want us to stay?”
“I’m good,” she assured them.
“After it's done, you know what to do with her?” Sam asked.
She just smiled at them as she went to go check on Alex. “I guess that means home for us,” Dean went to get in the car.
“Like our real home?” Liam asked as he got into the backseat.
“Yeah,” Sam nodded as he got into the passenger seat. “We can still monitor things, and Cas will call if he comes up with anything.”
Once they were home Dean got ready for bed and then entered the bedroom to find Liam on the bed in only a pair of boxers. “Hi there,” Dean shamelessly ogled his husband. “You should know I’m tired.”
“Me too, but it’s nice to get looked at with desire once in a while.” The blond bit his lip. “Am I really such a psychotic pain in the ass?”
“Yes,” Dean answered without hesitation as he disrobed and climbed into bed. “But I put up with you because of your better qualities. This case though… I mean, you have a reason for a little extra hostility against vampires, but you took it a bit too far.”
“Like you did for yelling at me over helping you?”
Dean ran his fingers down Liam’s neck and over his bare chest. “I said I was sorry for that. I already explained all of that.”
“I know. It was this last case that brought to my attention just how full of rage I am though. Everything I should have had was taken from me very unfairly, and I guess the vampire thing was the straw that broke the camel’s back as they say.”
Dean’s hand came to rest on his partner’s thigh. “You were put through a lot. We were both put through a lot. I guess we were put together because we can understand each other. I can’t believe I’m the one actually saying this, but babe, nothing you do will change the past. But you have me here now, and hopefully we have some kind of future together. Now, take off that article of clothing, and then we can try and get some sleep.”
Liam smirked and got out of bed, making a little show of taking his boxers off and tossing them with the rest of his clothes. Then he turned around in a little circle, the moonlight coming through the window and illuminating his body in soft light. “You really like?”
Dean smiled at him. “Words cannot describe. Now get over here so I can do more than just look.”
“Oh,” Liam made a little giggling sound and climbed into bed. Dean kissed him and slid a hand down his side and grabbed his ass for a squeeze before they both tried to get comfortable for the night.
