Disclaimer: I do not own anything from True Blood and I'mmaking no money from this story. |
When I wake up Godric is still asleep. I sigh thinking over why I was so upset with Sookie. Her relationship with Bill is really none of my business and I owe her an apology. I don't know what happened with them before they got to Dallas and I've barely seen them since I've gotten here. I really shouldn't jump to conclusion like I did and butt into their livesI open the coffin and climb out closing the lid softly before heading back upstairs.
When I enter the main room of Fangtasia I find Sookie sitting in Eric’s chair. She glances up at me and ignores me going back to reading.
I sigh softly and walk over to sit beside her, “I need to apologize for last night”. She stops reading and looks up at me, “What happens between you and Bill is your business and I shouldn’t try getting into it”.
“You’re right you shouldn’t”, she replies.
“I’ll remember it better from now on I promise. Can you forgive me”, I ask.
She just looks at me for a minute before smiling, “Of course I can”.
I smile back and we sit looking through a random magazine and Ginger came in after a while getting the bar ready for the night.
We hear someone pull up and Edgington says, “You hear that. That’s my wolves coming to rescue me”.
The door opens and the sun hits Edgington and thankfully Alcide walks in.
Sookie gets up and meets him, “How did you know to come for me”?
“Eric called me. Said he needed my help with something and promised to settle all my dad’s debts”.
“Oh”, Sookie responds.
“Why you in trouble again”, he asks.
“When am I not in trouble”, she responds.
I just roll my eyes at the flirting they’re doing and remain quiet. We end up sitting at the bar just talking. Alcide lets us know that Janice is doing well and that Debbie has gone missing. I stop listening to them when Alcide mentions he has dreamed of Sookie.
Eric, Godric, Pam, and Bill finally come up from the basement.
“Good you’re here. Your truck out front”, Eric asks Alcide.
“Yeah”, he replies.
Eric goes over and after putting on some gloves takes hold of the silver holding Edgington and pulls the chain around Edgington’s neck toward the door.
Godric moves to my side, “Why don’t you stay with Sookie”.
I nod my head and press a kiss to his cheek. After Sookie tells the vampires she rescinds the invitation to her house she heads out the door.
I quickly follow here out and meet her at her car, “Do you mind if I come with you”?
She agrees and I quickly climb into her car and we head to her place.
“Your house is beautiful”, I tell her as we come to a stop in front.
“Thanks it’s been in the family for years”, she replies and we head inside.
As soon as we go inside we find Tara, “Oh my god I love it”, Sookie says upon seeing her.
I assume she means Tara’s hair which is much shorter and no longer in the braids like the first time I saw it.
“Really”, Tara asks. Sookie nods her head and Tara explains, “I just needed to make a change”.
“Change is good”, Sookie agrees.
I can sense something important needing to be said so I excuse myself to the living room to give them some space.
It’s not long after that I hear the front door open and close and Sookie stops by the living room to let me know she’s going to shower. When she comes back down she tells me about her and Tara’s friendship over the years. It’s getting late when there’s a knock on the door. Sookie answers and I hear Bill’s voice.
Sookie returns a few seconds later and Bill’s not far behind her. I see he’s surprised to see me there but takes a seat in a chair across from the couch Sookie had just joined me on.
“Russell is gone”, he tells her.
“Thank God for small favors”, she replies.
“Eric as well”, he says.
“What”, I demand.
“I ended him”, he replies still only looking at Sookie.
“Why”, Sookie asked.
“He tasted you. He knew what you are. Even if we got to go our separate ways I will make sure you are safe”, he explains to her.
“But Eric would never”, she starts shaking her head but Bill interrupts.
“Sookie, most vampires are not like me. Even if holding themselves back occurred to them they would probably not be able to”. Bill moves to a knee in front of Sookie, “I’m not taking any chances. I intend to bring the True Death to anyone who has tasted you and know what you are”.
“Russell, Eric”, Sookie starts.
“Pam, The Queen”, Bill finishes the list of people who knew. His eyes slide my way but he doesn’t say my name. “And any who discover it in the future. I will do anything to keep you safe. Even if it means me not being a part of your life; this I swear to you”. He stands and begins to walk away before turning to Sookie again, “I have never loved nor will I ever love as I have loved you”.
He begins toward the door again and one look in Sookie’s direction I can already see what she’s going to do.
“Wait, don’t go”, she says moving from the couch toward him. I follow slightly behind.
Thankfully the door opens and Eric is coming up the stairs. I almost laughed at his appearance but knew it wasn’t appropriate.
“Did you tell her you were originally sent by The Queen to procure her because of what she might be”, Eric asks without looking up.
“What”, Sookie asked Bill.
“I did not know why she wanted you. As I grew to know you I purposely kept you from her”, he explains.
“Were you ever going to tell me”, she asks but with just one look I could tell the answer was no.
“I hoped to one day; I swear it”, he says.
Eric had moved to the edge of the stairs while they were talking, “What about you letting two psychos beat her within an inch of her life the day you met so you could feed her your blood? Do you think she’ll forgive you for that”?
I could see the anger and hurt entering Sookie’s eyes, “Oh my God”.
“Sookie”, Bill tried.
“Is it true”, she asked him.
He looked away as he answered, “Yes”.
“He tried to silence me tonight so you would never know. He doesn’t want to protect you. He only wants to protect himself”, Eric says.
“Get out of my house”, she tells Bill.
Bill tries to hold onto the door frame as he’s dragged out of the house, “Please”.
“Never come here, don’t ever call me, and don’t ever talk to me; ever”, Sookie tells him. “You manipulated me into falling in love with you”
“It is who you are Sookie not what you are that I love. Love always until I meet the True Death”, he tells her.
“Love?! You don’t even get to use that word. I rescind my invitation”, she says and Bill is finally forced to release the door.
“I want my phone back”, Eric tells Bill.
Bill takes one last look at Sookie before leaving.
“You too, get the fuck off my porch and out of my life”, she tells Eric.
“For the record, I would never have given you to Russell”.
“Go back to Hell where you came from you dead piece of shit”.
Eric moves in front of the door towering over Sookie, “I am sorry to see you suffer like this. I thought you had the right to know”.
With that Eric leaves and Sookie slams the door shut crying. I guess she forgot I was here and when she turned to me she asked, “Did you know any of that”?
I held up my hands the anger and hurt coming off her in waves, “I promise I didn’t know anything. I would never had said anything yesterday if I did know he was like that”. I could tell she wasn’t sure though, “I know you prefer to stay out of people’s heads but if you want you can make sure”.
I could tell once that was said she believed me. We moved into the living room and I let her cry and yell and complain about everything and anything she wanted.
“I need to get out of here”, she said and she jumped up and ran out the door. I quickly followed and we found ourselves in a small cemetery. I stood to the side as she sat before one of the headstones. I knew she was talking but I stayed far enough away so I couldn’t hear it.
“Sookie, you’re not alone”, came a woman’s voice. I moved closer to Sookie and saw a woman in a long light grey dress off to the side. “Come with us”.
“Who are they”, I ask noticing more people around us.
“You can see them”, Sookie asked me.
I nod but the woman answers, “Of course she can. We would like it if you came as well Jasmine”.
“How do you know me and what are you”?
“They’re fairies”, Sookie tells me.
“Why are you inviting me then”?
The woman smiled gently at me, “You’re a fairy as well. Of course we would want you to join us”.
I start feeling slightly overwhelmed and shake my head taking a step back, “But I can’t be. I’m not like Sookie”.
“I assure you, you are. You just have a different gift”, she says. She looks up for a moment, “We must hurry though we can’t stay here much longer”.
Sookie turns to me, “Will you come with us. I’m sure we won’t be gone long and we can leave whenever you’re ready”. She holds out a hand towards me.
I’m so confused but knowing what I am and possibly learning more about it has me reaching out and taking Sookie’s hand. We walk over to the other woman and Sookie takes her hand.
There’s suddenly a bright light and I close my eyes not knowing what I’ve gotten myself into.
When I open my eyes we’re standing beside a tree with glowing fruit and there are other’s all around us.
“I feel nauseous”, Sookie says and I agree with her.
“It’ll pass”, the woman says. “Go on as you were”, she directs to the people around us.
“Are you the head of the fairies or something”, Sookie asks.
“Oh, hardly. No, I’m your… godmother”, she tells Sookie.
“What about me. How is it I’ve never been contacted and told what I am”, I ask her.
“Usually with your gifts you start showing earlier and we can let you know but you were late in showing signs we were not as prepared as we could have been”, she says. “Come on, let’s enjoy the party”.
She grabs Sookie’s hand and pulls her into the people when a man walks past, “Sookie”?
“Barry, the bellboy”, she asks. “When did you get here”?
“We just got here. Can you believe this place? Oh, this is my fairy godmother Lloyd”, he tells her. “Look at everyone. Do you realize this is the one place in the universe where we aren’t freaks”.
“Well, we’re gonna go get some drinks. Why don’t you two finish chatting and I can speak with Jasmine”, she tells Sookie while already heading away before she finished.
“I’m sure you have many questions for me”, she says. “Feel free to ask”.
“What’s your name”, I ask first.
“Forgive me I forgot you didn’t know. I’m Claudine”, she tells me.
“How is it that I’m a fairy”?
“Well, it passed down through your family. The gene doesn’t affect everyone just a select few. I believe the last was your grandmother on your mother’s side”, Claudine explained.
“Is there a way to control when or how I get these visions”?
“Not that I know of. Most of the fairies with that gift are usually gotten when they are young and trained. Since you’re so much older than usual it may be more difficult for you to control”.
I notice it’s gone very quiet and everyone is staring at something. I move closer to see it’s Sookie and an older man. I turn to ask Claudine what was happening but she had moved away. Another fairy moved toward me and handed me one of the glowing fruits.
Before I bit it I was distracted by the conversation going on with Sookie, “Get away from me”. She was struggling and I moved in her direction as I watched another fairy push the fruit towards Sookie. I noticed the light glowing in Sookie’s hand grow until it pushed the woman away.
The bright lights flared out and when I opened my eyes I notice we’re standing in barren looking hills. The fairies who were once really beautiful now looked like something from a horror movie. Sookie grabbed my arm to get me moving and we were running up into the hills being chased by other fairies.
The balls of light exploding around us were making it difficult to run when suddenly we were grabbed by fairies.
We were already in getaway mode so we began fighting immediately. Their claims of helping us falling on deaf ears until one fairy close to Sookie took a ball of light to his back and he exploded in dust.
The other got our attention quickly, “We can help get you out of here and away from them”. We agreed and he yelled to others, “I’ve got the humans, cover us”. In front of us light balls began flying over our heads at the fairies that were chasing us.
We followed the fairy into the hills hearing the fight staying close behind us. We were suddenly at a ledge.
“You have to jump”, he told us.
“What? We don’t even know who you are”, Sookie told him.
“My sister was the one who abducted you because the crown wishes to close of Fairy to the human realm for good”.
“And you don’t”, she asked.
“It was once our world too. It is our right to travel there. Have you eaten the light fruit”?
“He has but I haven’t”, Sookie tells him.
He looks to me and I shake my head no.
“Only you two can go then, he won’t be able to”.
Sookie turned to the man for a moment.
“Hurry”, the fairy says.
“Humans”, the woman who had tried to force the fruit on Sookie says from the top of a boulder behind us, “don’t listen to his lies. Jump in and you will die”.
Suddenly her hands are glowing and shooting light into the sky and looking over the ledge the open area is closing.
“She’s closing the portal. Do you want to go home or not”, he asks.
“Sookie”, the older man says and grabs her pulling her over and I follow directly behind.
We fall and land back in the cemetery. The older gentleman seems in pain and there are some light flashes all over his body.
“Granddaddy, what’s wrong”, Sookie asks.
“I had the light fruit but I had to see home”, he tells her. “Your momma and daddy; your granny are they here”?
Sookie nods, “Yes”.
I move forward and help her support her granddaddy as we move over to where her family is buried. Once there I move away giving them a family moment.
When I hear Sookie crying I turn and see him hand something to her. I watch as his skin becomes dark gray and suddenly he’s gone. I move closer and kneel beside Sookie and hold her hand.
When she’s calm we head back towards her house. Arriving we find people working on it. I follow Sookie to the house and up the porch.
A man who was painting tries to stop Sookie even threatening to call the cops. Telling her she wasn’t the owner and other things to get her away. She just tells him to call the cops.
When we get inside the furniture is all the same and all her pictures are the same. We sit at the kitchen table waiting for someone to show up.
“Hello”, we hear called through the house and a knock at the door. “Police”.
Sookie stands and heads toward the door, “Jason”?
I follow when I hear its Jason and am surprised to see him in a police uniform.
“Sookie”, he asks shocked, “Oh my God”. He moves in and pulls her into a hug. “Jasmine”, he asks when he sees me over her shoulder. He pulls out of the hug, “I can’t believe it’s you”, he tells her.
“Jason why are you dressed as a cop”, Sookie asks.
“Jesus Christ we thought you were dead. We’ve been looking everywhere for you. We figured a vampire must’ve did it. Bill or maybe that crazy tall one”.
“Hold on stop a second. What is today’s date”?
“Today is October 21”, he tells her.
My eyes widen a bit.
“We’ve been gone two weeks”?
“Sook, you’ve been gone twelve and a half months”.
I can barely breathe, “We were gone a year? Oh my God…Godric”!
