"Oh Teddy…I’m so glad you’re ok,” Victoria said as she hugged her daughter in law. Nick and Mags were coming into town later and Teddy had begged Heath to take her in to town as soon as possible.

Teddy returned Victoria’s hug and tried to control her emotions.

“I’m still upset that no one told me what was going on last night,” Victoria said as she finally let Teddy go.

“There wasn’t anything you could have done and besides, it was your wedding night,” Teddy pointed out and Victoria smiled. The newlyweds thoroughly enjoyed themselves and she was eager for them to leave on their trip the next week so they could be alone.

“Besides, I’m fine,” Teddy insisted. Victoria looked skeptical. From what Jarrod had told her, what Teddy had gone through had been brutal. She only hoped that this didn’t stop Heath and Teddy from fully becoming man and wife. She could easily see how much the two loved one another.

“I’m just glad that Heath found you before…” Victoria said, becoming emotional.

Teddy’s eyes filled with tears. Heath and Simon had gone with Jarrod to his office. Milly was feeding the babies, a local woman who had delivered twins the year before agreeing to help show Milly how to do so. When she was finished, the babies would be introduced to their aunt, uncle, grandmother, and grandfather. Jarrod had asked Simon if he’d minded the title and the man agreed whole heartedly.

“Me too…I didn’t want my first time to be…like that,” Teddy said quietly. Teddy and Victoria were in the hotel dining room in a corner apart from everyone else. Victoria couldn’t imagine how frightened Teddy had been.

“Teddy,” Victoria said, placing her hand on the other woman. “Now that Jeff is gone…do you think you and Heath will make a go of it?”

Teddy sighed.

“We’d agreed to wait until after Milly gave birth. We were going to go up to the lodge and spend time there. But after what happened yesterday, I asked Heath if we could wait. I just need some time,” Teddy said, looking around to make sure no one was around.

“I understand. You deserve for it to be a special time. And I know you two will know when it’s right.”

Teddy sighed, looking down at her hands.

“I just know Heath wants to…He’s a man and…” Teddy raised her eyes to her mother in law. “What if I’m never ready?” she whispered.

Victoria took Teddy’s hands in her own.

“You’ll know when the time is right. And Heath will be gentle and patient. It’s scary, I know…that first time. But Teddy, just know that what Jeff tried to do was wrong and you are not to blame for that.”

Teddy nodded.

The men returned and Jarrod went up to check on Milly and to see if she was ready for the family to meet their babies.

On the way back from town, both Heath and Teddy were lost in their own thoughts. Heath couldn’t get the image out of his mind of Teddy holding each of the babies and he longed to see her holding theirs. He pushed away any thoughts of them being together because he knew she still needed time. He didn’t want to push her when she wasn’t ready.

Teddy thoughts too were along the lines of being able to hold her own baby. She wished that Jeff hadn’t taken her the day before because she knew if he hadn’t, she and Heath would be on their way to the lodge. What if I’m never ready kept ringing through her head.

“Teddy?” he asked, wondering if something was wrong.

They entered and Teddy looked around. She turned to Heath, and noticed he’d removed his hat, holding it in his hands. She took a step toward him and took the hat out of his hands, placing it on the table.
