Zack’s POV
It was a little after eleven p.m. when Zack got home. His football game had been cancelled in the second quarter due to a short in the main stadium lights. It was determined that they couldn’t play in the dark and no one knew how long it would take to find and fix the problem. So he’d gone for pizza with the team and the other hanger on’s, then they’d all headed to someone’s house for a cancelled game party. The party had been totally lame with a bunch of people getting drunk and stupid. Also there was something he couldn’t put his finger on that was bugging him. So after having a couple of beers, he’d told his peeps that he wasn’t feeling good and bailed.
He had expected to find Cody on the couch, watching some boring science program on Discovery channel. But Cody wasn’t home. ~ Must be out hangin’ with some of his weirdo goth friends. ~ He’d thought to himself, surprised but not to worried about it.
So Zack had taken a shower, then watched some t.v. At around twelve thirty he got up and fixed himself some leftovers, by one he was on the computer, surfing porn. He used his cell phone to call Cody and got sent directly to voice mail, he didn’t bother to leave a message. At two thirty he turned all the lights off and went back to watching t.v. He turned the sound down really low, so he could hear Cody coming down the hall. At twelve thirty, he’d been a little worried. At two thirty, he’d been more worried and that thing that was bothering him was worse. At three, he was worried, scared, and pissed off. He expected to get a call from the hospital at any minute, telling him Cody had crashed that damn stupid bike of his. Finally at three thirty, he turned off the t.v. and sat in the dark, thinking.
As he sat and thought about his brother, one thing was running foremost on his mind. What the hell was up with him? It was like when they’d started high school; he’d turned into this angsty, shadow person that Zack no longer knew. And things cascaded from there. Zack tried to pinpoint when everything had started changing and realized it had been summer break, before high school. He remembered it being bad enough when Cody started borrowing his clothes. Things like his black t-shirt with the white skull made of dots and his black leather jacket with the white stripes. He couldn’t believe Cody’d talked Mom into letting him get a job, so he could save for a car… when they were fourteen! Then he gets Moseby to give him Maddie’s job, when she left. And when Mom had told them it was time for haircuts, Cody had told her he’d get his trimmed, but he wanted to grow it out. And she’d let him! Then he’d dyed it. Black! The next small addition had been the silver five-pointed star on a black leather necklace and then the piercings.
Zack had been more surprised that his brother, who had always been a stickler for hygiene, had wanted to get his ears pierced and not that their dad had agreed. After all, their dad had pierced ears himself. But Cody’d not only gotten his ears double pierced; he then pretty much forced dad to sign for a tongue piercing too. He'd given him an ultimatum. 'Either you sign for it or I'll go by myself to some place that won't ask.' Now their dad is fairly cool, but not that cool. He’d tried to reason with Cody telling him that any place like that is really dangerous and more than likely unsanitary. Cody had crossed his arms over his chest and given him a icy stare saying, ‘fine then take me someplace you trust and you won’t have to worry about it.’
When he’d tried to help dad, telling them mom would kill them both, Cody had glared at him and told him to ‘Shut the hell up.’ To say he and his brother didn’t argue would be a complete lie, but Cody had never used that tone on him, even when they’d tried sharing a bike when they were thirteen and Cody had told him that he might start hating him if he didn’t actually share. Come to think of it, that’s probably why Cody wouldn’t let him touch his Harley at all. Go figure.
And he’d been right about their mom. She’d had a complete hissy fit. But when his dad hadn’t told her how Cody had forced him, he’d been really mad. He couldn’t understand how he could cover for him like that, taking the blame then talking her down.
He’d asked him about it later. His dad had sat him down and told him. ‘You guys are getting to the age where you should be able to have a say in how you express yourselves and your mom is going to have to deal with that. You’re not little kids anymore. You're becoming independent by joining the football team and hanging out with the cool people, Cody's doing it by altering how he looks. I love you both and want to help as much as I can.' Oddly enough Zack had actually gotten that.
So ok maybe he’d overreacted just a tiny bit the first time he saw the nipple and belly ring. He and Cody had been getting ready for bed and he’d asked him something, he couldn’t even remember what it was now, but his brother had just taken his shirt off and turned to answer him. The words were out of his mouth before he even knew he was speaking. ‘Holy shit, Mom is gonna kill ya!’ Cody stared at him with wide, frightened eyes before starting to babble. ‘You can’t tell her! Zack, please don’t tell! Swear you won’t, please!’ And then had come the puppy-dog eyes, which shouldn’t have worked on him, after all he could do it to, but Cody had always done it so much better. So he’d huffed out a ‘Fine, I won’t tell…on one condition.’ Cody had narrowed his eyes looking suspicious. ‘What?’ Zack had crossed his arms over his chest and stared his brother down. ‘You have to promise that if they get infected, you’ll go to a doctor.’ Cody had visibly relaxed saying. ‘Ok, I promise.’ Zack had sworn not to tell Mom, then they’d done a spit shake on it. Over the next few weeks after that Zack had taken a perverse pleasure in unexpectedly stalking his brother in their room, yanking his shirt up and carefully checking the piercings for any signs of swelling or redness. Cody would try with little success to push him away saying. ‘Knock it off, Zack! They’re fine!’ Only after he’d looked for himself, would he let Cody go with a shove and tell him, ‘Good keep it that way.’ Then leave his brother to fume.
And the latest had been yet another set of studs in the ears, bringing the total up to three on each side. That had been about three weeks ago, well four if he counted the week of pleading, pouting, screaming and sulking Cody’d done before Mom caved. He swore to God if he’d had to watch him do the angst-ridden teen thing for one more day, he woulda forged Mom’s signature himself, just to make him stop. It’s not like he hadn’t been doing it for years. But Mom had gotten as sick of it as Zack had and finally gave in. When they’d gotten home, Zack had made a crack about him getting a nose ring to be a complete freak, which had gotten him the finger and a slamming door.
Thinking about that made him realize, he’d been getting that a lot, and it seemed like anytime he tried to talk to Cody all he got was the angry silent treatment. And if he was gonna be entirely honest with himself, he had to admit, he missed having a best friend.
Luckily before he could wander to far into that minefield, he was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of footsteps in the hall outside of the suite. Then a key turning in the lock. He was about to say something to let Cody know he was there, but the words froze in his throat at the sight of his younger brother. The helmet, black leather trench, motorcycle boots and matching leather gloves where nothing new, but the black shirt that looked like it was made from a basketball net and the painted on black leather pants where a shock. He briefly noticed before the door was closed that Cody had exchanged the top studs in his ears for small silver hoops. He watched silently as his brother swayed slightly as he made his way to the coat closet, then the smell hit him and his eyes narrowed in anger as he recognized the scents. The strongest where cigarette smoke, beer and sex, underneath that was pot, more alcohol, cologne, a hint of perfume, and something sweet he couldn’t place. He couldn’t believe Cody was sauntering in obviously drunk, reeking like a one-man orgy. And if he’d ridden his bike in that condition he was seriously gonna Kick. His. Ass.
Zack’s breath caught as Cody stumbled in the doorway of the closet, barely catching himself in time on the door jam. Then he turned and leaned back against the jam; head tilted back and eyes closed, his six-foot frame seeming to sprawl easily even while standing.
When he heard the distinctive click-click sound of Cody tapping the barbell in his tongue against the back of his teeth, he shuddered at the memory of his brother twirling that small metal ball around and round the head of his cock till he screamed. The clicking stopped but Zack found himself fighting a raging battle between anger and lust. Which only got worse as Cody’s hands started playing with the silver hoops in his nipple and navel, his fingers with black polished nails, pulling and twisting them. Then his hand moved from the belly ring downward, his fingers ghosting over his crotch tracing the obvious erection straining at the tight leather of his pants. With his face lightly paled with makeup, the thin lines of eyeliner slightly smudged and his lips painted black, he looked abso-fucking-lutely pornographic, then he moaned. Zack clenched his hands and bit his lip, trying to keep control as that sound went straight to his dick making it pulse and throb. He was startled when Cody suddenly flipped the light off but by the time his brother turned back around and started towards the bathroom, he’d recovered and was lunging at him, grabbing his left ear in a tight pinch just above the hoop. Cody’s scream filled the air, cutting through the near silence of the suite; he didn’t stop struggling until Zack growled in his ear.
