After a very awkward morning together, Sam decided to leave the angel and his brother and get some research done on a case they were working on. Sam couldn't quite put his finger on it, but the awkwardness was radiating from Dean. Castiel seemed no different than any other time. Sam simply attributed this to the washroom incident, still Dean would normally joke it off and not seem so affected and jumpy...
"Okay guys, I am heading out," Sam smirked, glancing quickly at Dean as he tossed the strap of his backpack around his shoulder. "You two, stay out of the washroom." Dean, who had been drinking a cup of coffee at the time, spluttered and choked, slamming the cup down on the hotel room table.
"Uh. Yeah, Sam. See you later." Dean nodded like eight times, his cheeks flushed a bright pink. Castiel turned to look at Dean, his eyes trying to search for the cause of this strange reaction. This only made Dean glow a little brighter, and when the door closed behind Sam, he was relieved. He instantly turned away from Castiel's view and tried to compose himself.
"Dean? Is everything okay? Are you sick?" Castiel peered over at the back of Dean's head. Dean turned to face Castiel, now that his cheeks had returned to their normal luster. He gazed into Castiel's eyes for a mere second, before he got up.
"Cas?" Dean started to say, but stopped himself. Then there was slience for a long time, while Dean looked through old books about lore. Another whoosh of wings was heard, and when Dean looked up, Castiel was gone. He breathed a sigh of relief. Hold yourself together Dean. He thought to himself. It's normal to have a crush, one on whom you've been spending a lot of time with. I will just ignore it and it will go away. Maybe banging a chick will get these thoughts out of my head. And with that, Dean abandoned his task and left the hotel. With keys in hand he went to his '67 Impala, in search of a bar. That would make him feel right again.
Castiel had some researching of his own to do. Because Dean was oblvious to his condition, it was up to Cas to find out what it was and find a cure. He did not like seeing his friend like this. He would do anything to help him...
Castiel went to the the closest library, popping up in the Literature section and nearly scaring an old man to death. The old man cried out, his newspaper in hand flying in the air and landing at Castiel's feet. Cas picked it up and handed it to the shaken old man, muttering an apology. The man blinked and shook himself, thinking crazy thoughts.
Castiel wandered over to the Sciences section and selected a book on Medical Diagnostic and Symptoms. From there, he began his reading, at a pace that was not like most humans. He scanned words for the symptoms he knew. After some time, Castiel gave up.
It must be a spell of some sort. It could be very serious! Castiel suddenly stood upright, his heart-rate was elevated, and a tang of anxiety was felt in his chest. It wasn't a heart-attack, what was it? Castiel only had one thought, to get to Dean. Maybe this condition was spreading.
Dean had talked a cute blonde in less than an hour to going back to the hotel room. He sent Sam a text not to come back for a bit cause he needed to "Blow off some steam". She had to be a perfect 10, in Dean's opinion. He made the stops to charm her into easily taking her clothes off. Hell, after getting a couple drinks in her, it wasn't really that hard.
However, getting himself in the mood seemed to be a trouble. He was distracted, but that had never been a problem before, ever. Yet no matter how hard he tried, or she - the result was the same. His flesh was lifeless, unwilling and tired.
"Are you.. sure this has never happened before?," The girl scoffed, an eyebrow raised. Dean was embarrassed, not the situation he had expected at all. "Or is it just me?" She started to put her clothes on. Dean was at loss. In defeat, he let her leave, sitting shirtless in his boxers on the bed.
