"Hotch!" Emily cried, grabbing his arm and pulling him into the hotel room. Before he could even get a good look at her, she had thrown her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. He hoped she couldn't feel how hard his heart was beating in his chest. "Let me look at you." She said, releasing him and taking a step back. "Scruffy." She teased, running her hand down his cheek. "I like it. It looks good on you." Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner flushed crimson as he removed the ball cap and took off his sunglasses. "It so good to see you, Emily." He said softly. "I didn't think I'd get a chance to say Goodbye." "I'm so sorry about that, it couldn't be…" "….avoided. I know." He said, interrupting her. "Look at you." He said, smiling, his dimples making a rare appearance. "Your hair." "It's so short." She said, reaching up to run her fingers self consciously through the short pixie cut she now sported. "My hair is so dark it's hard to change the color, so we thought, what the hell, chop it all off. I have a bunch of wigs to wear, so it's just easier this way. I know, I look like a boy." "You could never look like a boy." Hotch said, shaking his head. "It's…cute." His face flushed crimson again. He couldn't tell her how badly he wanted to run his fingers through her hair, clutching her head and pulling her to him. "Cute?" Emily raised an eyebrow at him and laughed. "Somehow that's not a word I ever pictured you using." "Sassy?" He teased. "Do you like that better?" His lips curled up at the edges, it was so good to see her again, be in the same room with her. "Well come on." She said, locking the hotel door. "Have a seat. Would you like a drink? I have Jack Daniels." "That would be great." He said, following her into the room and tossing his backpack on the floor. "So how is everybody?" She asked softly, when she had settled across from him with their drinks. "Heartbroken." He answered honestly. "And you?" She glanced quickly up at him and then back down at the table. "Worried." He said, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm going to catch him Emily." He said, a dark look coloring his handsome features. "I don't want to talk about Doyle." She said her voice tense. Hotch nodded his head and took a sip of his drink. "I have Sergio." "You do?" A look of pure relief crossed over her face. "I've been so worried about him. He's such a sweet cat. I've had visions of him roaming the streets, hungry and scared." "I stopped by and picked him up right after I left the hospital. Derek wanted him, but we didn't think he'd get along with Clooney. Jack just loves him. You should see them together. He plays fetch just like a dog." "That's great." Emily laughed. "Does he sleep with Jack too?" "No." Hotch said, shaking his head. "I think Jack flops around too much for Serge's tastes. He's taken to sleeping on me." "Really?" Emily crinkled her nose. "I'm sorry." "I'm not." He said softly. "It's comforting." His fingers twitched nervously on the table top. Taking a deep breathe, he pulled the ashtray towards him. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it, inhaling deeply. "You're smoking?" Emily exclaimed in surprise. "Yeah." He said, staring at the cigarette. "Do you mind?" "Not at all." Emily laughed. She stood up and crossed the room. Opening a drawer she pulled out her own pack of cigarettes. "You too?" "It gave me something to do while I was sitting in a hotel room, healing." "How is that?" "I guess you don't know." She said, taking a sip off of her drink. "Immediately following the surgery, I was Medivaced to Washington University Medical Center in…" "St. Louis, Missouri." He interrupted. "Excellent hospital." "It is." She agreed. "I stayed there until I was ready to be released and then it's just been here and there at various hotels and motels while I recuperated enough to travel. The scars are still there." She said, gazing sadly down at her body. "They never go away." He said, running his hand across his own scarred chest. "You just get used to them. So you're well enough now for your permanent relocation?" "I leave next week." She said softly. "But I had to see you before I go." "Why?" He said his voice barely a whisper. "Because there's something I need to tell you, something that I couldn't say before." She stood up and held out her hand to him. Placing his hand in hers, he allowed her to pull him to his feet. She placed her hands firmly on his chest and his breathe caught in his throat. "I want you Aaron." She said, gazing shyly up at his face. "Want me?" He repeated, his mind whirling at her words. "Do I have to spell it out?" She asked. "I want you. I want to kiss you, touch you, hold you, make love to you. I've wanted you for ages but I was too scared to saying anything. Now I have nothing to lose. If you say no…" She stopped talking as a wry smile played across his lips. "You thought I'd say 'No?" He mused, raising his hands to lightly caress her cheeks. "How could I ever say 'No" to you? I've wanted you too." He leaned down and gently pressed his lips to hers. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
