A few moments later we were pulling off a dirt road and into what I guessed was the camp from the RV parked up and the few cars and tents that were dotted in the area. As we arrived we noticed people, some of them whole families by the looks of it were gathering together at the sound of our engines getting closer. After killing the engines we stepped off our bikes removing our gloves and lids as we did so. “Erm... guys...”Glenn began addressing the people gathered around us “This is Bex and Anna, I met them on the road and they have no-where else to go, I told them they could join us.” I smiled and gave a small shy wave to the group but my smile faulted and my arm froze when one of the men in the group who was glaring at us spoke. “What? You just brought them here? You don’t know anything about them!” the man said. He was quite tall, tanned and had dark curly hair. I was about tell say something when another male voice spoke this time from behind me and with a strong and rough southern accent “What’s wrong Shane? You scared of two little girls, just coz they ride bikes don’t mean they’re as bad as me.” I turned towards the voice and saw an older man with a military hair cut, wearing a leather waist coat and even though he was older you could still tell that he wasn’t a person to fuck with. He was looking Anna up and down with a leering grin and continued with “Hell, if you’re so worried about them I’m sure me and my little brother could keep an eye on them for ya.” I shot a glance at Anna and bit my lip to stop myself from laughing at her wide-eyed ohgod expression. I turned towards Shane to see what he would say and saw Glenn say in a sympathetic voice to him “listen, they’re from England, they really have no-where else to go.” Shane looked towards me and Anna, suspicion still etched clearly on him face “this true?” he said tilting his head to the side and boring into us with his eyes as if he could literally see if we were telling the truth. “Yes, it’s true. We were on vacation over here when the outbreak started” I said meeting his gaze. Shane seemed to relax a little as he said “well you sure don’t sound like you’re from round here. Fine you can stay but you’ll have to help out, you know do your part for the group.” “That’s fine.” I said as I beamed a smile in relief that we were allowed to stay. With that the group started to disperse, I walked over to Glenn and hugged him “thank you for trusting us.” He blushed and smiled as he said “really it was no problem” “well thank you anyways.” I said over my shoulder while walking back to Anna to start unloading the bikes so we could set up camp “a fireblade ay? What you doin’ ridin’ that piece of shit? Can’t ya handle a British made bike?” the older man said from behind us. Oh fuck the last thing we need is for Anna to lose her shit when we’ve just got here I thought as I quickly turned to face the guy once again, stepping in front of Anna as I did so and held out my hand for him to shake “I’m Bex, that’s Anna and you are?” “Merle Dixon” he said spitting on his hand before shaking mine with an amused chuckle. “Well Merle...” Anna said as she stepped around me taking advantage of me rubbing my hand on my hand in disgust. “Maybe I prefer something with a bit more power between my legs...” Merle held up his hands in defence chuckling while saying “hold on there now missy, I was just tryin’ to have a lil friendly chat is all, ask ya if ya needed any help with settin’ up your tent, there’s some space by mine if you want it.” I looked around the camp for a better offer and couldn’t think of one. I looked at Anna quizzically to which she shrugged and said “might as well.” I looked back at Merle “lead the way.” I said grabbing our tent and some bags.
The sun was beginning to set by the time we had sorted the tent and everything out, Merle had built a camp fire in the middle or our 3 tents mine and Anna’s tent, Merle’s tent and his brother’s. “Here.” I said handing over a few beers to Merle “we managed to raid a store on the way here and well... it seems only fair since you helped us out and all.” I opened up a can for myself and sat down by the fire. Soon Anna was beside me drink in hand, losing herself as she watched the flames. “So where’s your brother?” I asked. Merle grunted “out huntin’. Should be back soon though.” I just nodded and went back to watching the flames.
A can or two later we heard movement. I sat up alert my head snapping to the direction of the noise. Merle just chuckled “catch anything good, little brother?” he asked then took another swig of beer. A younger guy no older than 35 with short brown hair stepped in to the light of the fire, he was carrying a crossbow and a bunch of squirrels. He dropped the squirrels at Merles feet “who are they?” he asked gesturing to me and Anna. “Two girls just joined the camp, Anna and Bex. Girls meet Daryl.” Merle said as he reached for another can. “Hey.... you want one?” Said Anna holding a beer out Daryl, he took it, mumbled thanks and sat down at the opposite side of the fire. I gave a small wave and smile to him in greeting I don’t even think he noticed it. I found myself watching him over the fire, how the light reviled his high cheek bones and the definition of the strong mussels in his arms. I was vaguely aware of Anna and Merles voices in the background and managed to drag my attention away from Daryl and back to the conversation. “Can you cook?” Merle asked just as I started listening again. “What?” I asked trying to hide the blush I could feel rising and avoiding eye contact with everyone, especially Anna. “Squirrel? Can you cook it?” Merle reiterated. I laughed “I might be able to make a stew or something but I can’t guaranty that you won’t get food poisoning from it... or that I won’t set fire to the camp...” Anna started to laugh. “That’s good enough for me.” Merle said as he tossed the squirrels to Daryl “you can give her a hand with the skinning and stuff” Merle said to Daryl with a grin. Daryl took the squirrels and began sorting them out, not looking at any of us. I grabbed some cooking supplies from by our tent including a pan, a tin of vegetable soup and some potatoes before heading over to beside Daryl. As I sat down beside Daryl I glanced at Anna to find her watching me with a small knowing grin. Great all I needed now was for her to say something to Merle and I knew it would only be a matter of time before she did, god damm it woman please don’t embarrass me.
“Hey.” I said to Daryl once I’d sat down beside him, he grunted a greeting. “So you caught all these? You must be very... skilled.” I said trying to make conversation. “I got more but I gave a share to the others.” He replied, he voice was softer than Merle’s but he still had a strong southern accent. “Cool, I’ll have to get you to teach me at some point.” I said as I started chopping the potatoes and putting them into the pan. Daryl just shrugged and carried on preparing the squirrels. I heard Anna giggling and looked up to see her sitting beside Merle who was whispering something in her ear. Well he was kind of Anna’s type after all, plus who knew if we were ever gonna get back home, she might as well have some fun I thought as I smiled over at them. “Here.” Daryl said as he shoved the squirrels in my direction I turned to face him and was shocked by the brightness of his blue eyes in contrast to the dirt on his face, I must have looked shocked because Daryl’s expression became one of confusion. “Call me when dinners done.” He said as he stood, then he walked away, climbed in his tent and was gone. Anna’s giggling brought me back to reality, oh great talk about a third wheel....
So the food didn’t turn out nearly as bad as I thought it would, Anna and Merle where dragging themselves off each other to grab some grub as I walked over to Daryl’s tent. The flap was open as I pushed against it “Daryl?” I asked as I spotted him laying there topless on his sleeping bag, his eyes snapped open and caught mine. “Oh... Erm... food’s ready.” I said feeling that damm blush creep up on me again and then rushed back to the fire. For fuck’s sake girl get a grip it wasn’t like he was naked, he’s just a guy.... all be it a very good looking guy but never the less. I grabbed some food and plonked myself down next to Anna, who was watching me like a hawk with that knowing grin still plastered on her face. “Don’t even go there.” I said starting to grin while shaking my head in embarrassment, apparently I didn’t need Anna’s help with that, I was doing and pretty good job on my own. A few moments later Daryl was sitting on the other side of the fire, I didn’t dare look at him just concentrated immensely on my squirrel stew and trying to stop picturing him lying in his tent all topless and sexy. *sigh* oh god it was gonna be a long and frustrating night.
We’d all headed for bed not long after dinner. But I’d woke up from a nightmare again that night and found only myself in the tent. Then as all my senses where coming back to reality I heard Merle grunt as Anna moaned. Ah the joys of camping and the privacy of tents. I tried for a while to get back to sleep, tossing, turning and trying to bury my head in the pillow to escape what had now become dirty talk as I inwardly cringed. Finally I gave up and headed out of the tent, it was a warm night and it would be nice to get some air. There were still embers burning in the fire and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, so relaxing with a beer and looking up at the sky seemed like a great idea to kill some time till Anna came back and to stop my mind from racing. I wasn’t sitting there for long when Daryl came out of his tent, he looked dishevelled and pissed off “they have to be so damm loud?” he said to no-one in particular. I giggled as I said “you don’t know the half of it, I think that Anna is actually quieter than usual.” He gaze shot to my direction and met mine, he clearly hadn’t seen me. “Erm.... seeing as your up anyways, you want to join me for a beer?” I said grasping at the opportunity for some company. “Why the hell not, not like I’m gonna get any sleep any time soon anyways” he said gruffly grabbing a beer and sitting by the fire.
We didn’t talk for a while till we heard Merle’s voice from inside his tent moaning “oh yer, sugar tits you keep doin that an ima gonna blow my load.” I Visibly cringed and in a state of both disgust and disbelief said “oh god I did not need to hear that shit.” I turned to Daryl when I heard him coughing. “You alright?” I asked concerned. “Yer I’m fine.” He said wiping his spilt beer off himself with a hint of a smile on his lips “just was thinking what you said as you said it is all.” I started to smile as I spoke “well it’s true.” I laughed “here’s to cringe worthy experiences.” I mock toasted. All this heat and warm beer was starting to take its toll. “I’ll drink to that.” Daryl said as his tapped his can against mine. There was another lull in conversation; we just sat there, side by side under the stars watching the embers and drinking. Then I shifted into a more comfortable position and once settled realised that my arm and leg where in contact with Daryl’s, I could feel the heat coming off his body against my skin. With this my mind flashed up the memory of him topless from earlier in the day and my heart beat quickened with my arousal. The contrast of heat from Daryl as a cool breeze blew over us made me shiver. “You cold?” he asked. I risked a glance up at him “only a little.” I said before I was caught in the gaze of those crystal blue eyes, he was looking right at me, all be it with the slightly glazed look of someone who was fast approaching drunk. Without saying a word he slowly moved his arm that was touching mine to around my shoulders. “That better?” he asked his voice starting to have a husky edge to it. I didn’t dare speak for fear that I’d mess up so I just smiled and nodded, looking back up at him and feeling myself getting drawn deeper and deeper into those eyes. My breathing became heavier and I could feel my panties becoming wet with anticipation as our lips slowly met. As the kiss became more intense I turned my body towards his and let my hands caress his chest and sides, while his own traversed my arms, neck and back. A slight moan escaped my lips when he pressed his body against mine while raising my thigh to his hip level. Oh god I couldn’t think my head was spinning, I was losing myself in the moment. Then I heard the zip of Merle’s tent open. We broke apart and moved away from each other quickly as Anna stepped out into the night air, grinning from ear to ear, then her grin got bigger when she spotted me and Daryl sitting by the remains of the camp fire. Daryl stood up “looks like I can finally get some sleep now.” He snapped walking away, not even looking at me, he looked annoyed. Then he was gone, back into his tent, didn’t even say goodnight. I felt a little deflated once he’d gone, to be honest I felt he was annoyed with me. Myself and Anna headed for our own tent, her giving me Visuals to go with the audio track I already had of her nights events, and myself trying to listen and seem interested while worrying that I’d managed to mess up after all without even needing to say a word.
