The next morning Sam was the first one up. He volunteered to go fetch breakfast for them while Liam and Dean gathered everything up to go. “So, what was that last night?” Liam asked while he stuffed his dirty clothes into his bag.
Dean shrugged. “Haven’t you ever woken up in the middle of the night really horny?”
Liam shook his head. “I have, but your brother was in the next bed.”
“He was sound asleep. I was horny and I had a warm, wonderful, and possibly willing body right next to me, so I woke you up and went for it.”
Liam turned to him with a raised eyebrow. “So, now I’m just a warm body for you to fuck when you get horny?”
“No!” Dean sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “When you’re horny finding a partner and having sex is what you do. Random pretty truck stop waitresses I fuck. You I make love to. You’re my partner, so when I want sex naturally I’m going to go to you. Same goes for you, you get the urge, you come to me. You could’ve said no last night. I wouldn’t have forced it. But you consented, or at least I thought you did.”
“I did, otherwise we’d have a whole other problem.” He moved over to Dean to lean in and kiss him. “I enjoyed it too.”
“I’m glad. I want you to always enjoy it and get your rocks off too. With all those waitresses I never cared about anything but my own pleasure. With you it’s different. I care about your pleasure too. I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it again. I love you.”
“I love you too,” Liam gave him another kiss before turning to the room to make sure they had everything.
Sam came back with breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, and coffee for all of them. “Here,” he held out a big red cup with a white cap to Liam. “Since we still don’t know what you like, I thought maybe you’d like a white chocolate raspberry mocha. Plain coffee can be a bit much to take.”
“Thanks,” Liam took the cup with a little smile and gave it a whiff. “Smells good.” He took a cautious sip. “Tastes really good too.”
“Sam, I’ve been doing a little thinking,” Dean said as he took a bite of his sandwich. “I think we should keep getting separate rooms like we did when we were getting the stuff for the ritual. We can always talk about plans and stuff in our room, but you’ll sleep in your own room. It’s really hard to predict when the mood will strike.”
Sam’s eyes widened a little. “You didn’t...”
“Yeah, we kinda did,” Liam frowned, and Dean gave him a little slap on the shoulder.
“Dude, that’s a little sick!”
“No, it’s not,” Dean argued. “We’re two non related adults that had consensual sex because I randomly got horny in the middle of the night. Nothing sick about that.”
“Dean, you’re my brother. Look, I know you’re human and you have sex and like it, but I really don’t want to think about it, much less find out it happened a few feet away from me. Separate rooms from now on it is.”
They finished breakfast in silence and grabbed their stuff and headed to the car. “Okay, by my calculations, we should be at Bobby’s a little before dinner time,” Dean said as he got behind the steering wheel. “Let’s get this show on the road!” He fired up the engine and pulled out of the parking lot.
They drove about five hours before stopping for lunch. The coffee had made Liam a bit jittery, and his leg was bouncing while he ate. “Will you stop that!” Dean cried, putting a hand on his knee to still the offending leg. “You’ve been twitchy all day and it’s driving me crazy. I knew we shouldn’t have given you coffee.”
Liam sighed. “Sorry, I’ve been full of energy but stuck in a car all day.” He put his fork down. “You know what, I’m not even that hungry right now. I think I’ll just go for a walk and get this energy out of me a little bit.”
“Don’t go far, we’ll be leaving in a bit,” was all Dean said as he gave Liam a quick kiss on the cheek.
“I won’t,” Liam promised as he got up.
As he headed out the door of the diner he never noticed the guy in the blue hoodie start to follow him. He walked at a brisk pace down the street, figuring he’d just make a big circle. He thought nothing of cutting down an alley to get to the next street to circle back. As soon as he passed a big dumpster the guy in the hoodie rushed up and slammed him against the brick wall. “You and I are gonna have some fun, fag,” a dark voice whispered in his ear and a hand roughly groped his ass through his jeans.
Liam tensed and did the first thing that came to mind. He stomped on the guy’s foot and shot his elbow back to knock him in the face. The guy staggered back, cupping his now bloodied nose. “Oh, you’re gonna pay for that bitch!” the man growled.
The guy swung to punch him, but Liam caught his hand and twisted it behind him. The guy cried out and stomped on his foot. Then he whirled around and punched Liam hard in the side of the face. Liam was a bit dazed so the man grabbed him by the hair and smashed his face into the wall. Liam was about to keep fighting when he suddenly felt a blade against his throat. Then he froze and swallowed hard. “That’s right, bitch,” the man said smugly. “Never bring your fists to knife fight. You got spirit, I’ll give you that. That’s why I’m really gonna enjoy breaking you. Now, tell me you’re nothing but a cock whore!”
Liam whimpered, his chest rising and falling sharply. “I’m nothing but a cock whore,” he mumbled compliantly. “Please, just let me go!” he pleaded. “I’ll forget all about this, I swear.”
“Shut up, bitch! Since I think you broke my nose you’ll be lucky if I let you live when I’m done with you. Tell me you want my cock inside you.”
Liam hesitated and he felt the sharp the blade press into his flesh a little harder. “I want your cock inside me.”
“Good. Pull down your pants and underwear for me. Ask and you shall receive.”
A few tears welled up in Liam’s eyes as he unbuttoned his jeans and did as told. His heart was thundering in his chest from fear. He cried out in pain as the man’s lubed condom covered cock was roughly shoved in his ass and the stranger began pounding away. He had to listen to the man’s grunts while the unwanted invader moved inside him. “Tell me you love it and beg for more.” Liam couldn’t trust himself to open his mouth because he didn’t want to give this sick fuck the pleasure of hearing him cry. “Bitch...” the man growled and made a small cut that only went skin deep on his throat.
“I love it, please give me more,” Liam choked and started to sob.
It seemed to go on forever, but eventually the man let out a loud grunt and pulled out. The guy zipped his pants back up and left without a word. Liam didn’t even bother to pull his pants up, he just fell to the ground curled up in the fetal position sobbing.
Sam and Dean finished their meal and sat in the car for a little while before Dean started to get worried again. He called Liam and cursed when there was no answer yet again. “Why does he never pick up the damn phone when I call him?”
He got out of the car and headed over to a black man sitting on a bench reading the newspaper. “Excuse me, Sir, did you happen to see a young man with long blond hair come out of that diner a little while ago?”
“I did,” the man nodded. “He came out right when I got here. He took off that way,” he pointed down the road.
“Thanks,” Dean gave him a little nod and headed in the indicated direction with Sam right behind him. He kept calling Liam while they walked, keeping his eyes peeled for signs of his mate. He stopped when he thought he heard Liam’s ring tone. His pace quickened as he turned down the narrow alley and his heart jumped up in his throat when he saw his mate lying curled up on the ground with his pants down. “Son of a bitch!” he shouted as he rushed to Liam’s side and knelt down beside him.
When he put his hand on Liam’s shoulder Liam flipped over and grabbed onto him for dear life. “Oh, thank god you’re alive,” Dean breathed. “What happened?” he asked, though he could guess. Liam just started crying again. That’s when Dean noticed all the blood on his shoulder. “Tell me that’s not all yours.”
“It’s not,” Liam sniffed and wiped his eyes. “I broke his nose with my elbow when he first attacked me, but then he pulled out a knife and...”
Dean turned to his brother. “Sam, call 911. That fucker screwed up and left behind DNA.”
Sam called and minutes later a police car and an ambulance was on the scene. The paramedics checked Liam out and he seemed shaken up but otherwise fine, so they loaded him into the ambulance to take him to the hospital. “Did you two see anything?” the police officer asked Sam and Dean.
“No,” Dean shook his head. “My brother and I were having lunch with my boyfriend at the diner up the street when my boyfriend decided to go for a walk. Sam and I didn’t find him till after...”
The officer nodded. “Well, gentleman, I’m sorry to say we have a serial rapist on the loose in this town that targets gay men. Your boyfriend makes victim number three that we know of. There are probably quite a few more, but men are less likely to come forward. The other two he used a condom and left nothing behind, but if what you boys are telling me is true and that is his blood on your boyfriend’s shirt, well, we just might get the bastard this time.”
“I hope so,” Dean nodded. “But I’d really like to get to the hospital to be with my boyfriend, so...”
“Yeah, I gotta get there too to get the rape kit.”
Sam and Dean headed back to the car so they could get to the hospital. They made their way through the busy ER and were led back to a room with Liam in a bed in a hospital gown. Dean rushed to his side and pulled him into a tight hug. “I’m so sorry, babe, but this is the right thing to do.”
The police officer was right behind them. “We have the shirt,” a nurse told him. “And he’s consented to a rape kit, though we probably won’t find much. We’re just about to start that.”
“Can I stay with him while you do that?” Dean asked.
“If he doesn’t mind,” the nurse answered.
“I want him here,” Liam said.
Dean held Liam’s hand while the nurse took notes of all his injuries and took pictures of his face and the little cut on his neck. Then came the anal exam. Liam whimpered as he was poked and prodded in a very tender and recently brutalized place. “I know… it hurts,” the nurse said in a very caring tone. “I’m sorry, but this will be over quick. Looks like he really didn’t take it easy on you, and he used a condom just like the last two. There, it’s over now,” she said as she finished and bagged everything. “Now all that’s left is to take a DNA sample from you so we can discern yours from your attacker’s on your bloody shirt. Don’t worry, this part won’t hurt. I just have to swab the inside of your cheek.”
She took a cotton swab with a long handle and instructed Liam to open his mouth. Then she did as she said and swabbed the inside of his cheek and put that in a baggie too. “See, that part wasn’t so bad,” she gave him a little smile and headed out.
The police officer came back in. “So, Jeremy, anything else you can tell me?” He had of course used a fake name.
Liam shook his head. “It all happened like I told you. He attacked me and we fought. Then he pulled out a knife and held it to my throat, so I let him…” he teared up again. “Because I let him do it, that means it wasn’t a real rape, right?”
“No, Jeremy, that’s not what that means. You held still because you were under the threat of bodily harm. You were just trying to stay alive, and that was a good thing to do. Fighting back like you did at first, that was impressive. Because you broke his nose and might have dislocated his shoulder, I’ve got every hospital in a thirty mile radius looking for a guy with his description matching those injuries. We might actually catch him that way. But when he put that knife to your throat, you had no choice but to stop resisting.”
“Yeah, you alive and mostly unharmed is the important thing,” Dean agreed as he kissed the top of Liam’s head.
“Well, Jeremy, you’re free to go. I think I have all I need, and you gave me your number so I can reach you if we find anything.” The officer gathered his things and left.
The door was closed and Liam got up to get dressed. Since his shirt was now evidence a nurse had brought him a gray sweatshirt to wear instead. Dean wrapped an arm around him and led him out. Sam was in the waiting room and stood when they came out. “I called Bobby and told him we’d be a little later than we thought. I hope you don’t mind, Liam, but I told him what happened.”
Liam only shrugged as he got into the backseat of the car. “Sammy, you drive the rest of the way,” Dean tossed the keys and climbed in back with Liam to snuggle with him.
“I’m so stupid!” Liam cried as he buried his face in Dean’s chest.
“Liam, don’t say that!” Dean said as he stroked his mate’s hair. “This is really not your fault. You shouldn’t have to be constantly watching over your shoulder for someone to pull that shit. If I would’ve caught that fucker I’d have killed him for doing that to you. And you, you fought back. From what you said you fucked him up pretty good. Until he pulled that knife you were holding your own. I’m proud of you for that. But I agree with the officer, it’s good you stopped fighting when that blade touched your throat.”
Dean held Liam close the rest of the ride. It was dark when they finally reached Bobby’s house. The older hunter was waiting for them in the door. “I’ve got dinner ready and waiting,” he said when they came in with their bags. “I heard you had a rough day,” he said to Liam.
Liam nodded. “You could say that.” He set his bag just inside the door and plopped down on the couch. His ass was still really sore, and probably would be for a while.
“Anyway, welcome back to humanity. I’m glad my friend Professor Lockhart could help you,” Bobby said before disappearing into the kitchen, returning with three beers and handing them out. “Lesson number one, Liam. I put holy water in my beer, and offer one to anyone that comes in the house. If they’re not possessed they drink it and nothing happens. If they are, I know it pretty quick. In this business it pays to be paranoid.”
Liam nodded and took the beer. He took a sip and made a funny face. “Well, you know I’m not possessed, and I know I’m not a big fan of beer.”
“Plates are in the kitchen, help yourselves, boys,” Bobby said as he sat down in a ratty old chair.
“That’s okay, I’m not hungry anyway,” Liam said as he took another sip of beer. He didn’t like it, but he’d drink it so it didn’t go to waste.
“Eat anyway,” Dean insisted. “You barely touched your lunch, so you’re going to eat now. I know you’re upset, but we’re not starting that shit again. March your ass into that kitchen, grab a plate, and sit at the table.”
Liam sighed, but did as he was told. There was no point in arguing with Dean when he was that adamant about something. There were three plates on the kitchen counter with deer steak and fried potatoes. Sam handed him a knife and fork and he sat at the table with the brothers. He really just wanted to lie down and forget he existed for a little while, but he ate as told.
“How long you boys staying?” Bobby asked as he came in to check on them.
Dean shrugged. “Not sure. We just have to teach Liam to hunt as a human so he can be more helpful and we don’t kill each other.”
“Can I just lie down now?” Liam asked. He’d eaten the steak and half the potatoes. His stomach was actually full, and it did feel good.
Dean looked at his plate and then gave a little nod. “Grab your shit and follow me,” Bobby said, leading him to a bedroom upstairs. “Dean will be up in a little while. I know you two are a thing now. Just don’t… in front of me please.”
Liam nodded and when he was alone he stripped down to his boxers and crawled into bed. He turned the light out and just stared off into space until eventually he fell asleep. Next thing he knew he was back in that alley being savagely violated again. The pain was fresh and he could feel that cock sliding in and out of him while he was pressed against the brick wall. The sharp blade was against his throat and he knew at any moment this mad man could sever any one of the vital blood vessels in his neck and sentence him to death.
“Liam!” Dean’s voice cut through the vision and he could feel himself being shaken. His eyes fluttered open and Dean was standing over him. “Liam, are you okay? I think you were having a nightmare.”
“I was,” Liam answered. “Thank you for interrupting it.”
Dean lightly brushed his cheek and climbed into bed before turning out the light again. “Come here and I’ll try to make it all better.” Liam snuggled close, concentrating on the skin contact. “Anyway, from what Bobby can tell, Alice was right. We just have to find the demon who holds my contract and kill it. I know it won’t be easy. We haven’t figured out how yet. I know you probably don’t want to think about that now either, but there is hope.”
Liam said nothing as he rested his head on Dean’s shoulder. Were things ever going to be easy? Probably not. He sighed as he willed himself to relax again. This time when he fell asleep there would be no nightmares. Dean’s presence chased all that away.
When he woke again weak sunlight was streaming through the window. Dean was still sound asleep. Liam just watched him breathe softly for a few minutes. With Dean nearby he felt safe, but he knew that wasn’t going to last forever. Most likely when the year was up Dean would be gone. Then what was he going to do? He really didn’t want to think about it.
Since he couldn’t go back to sleep he decided maybe another walk was in order. Something bad had happened on the last one, but that was done by another person. They were practically in the middle of nowhere now. A nice walk in the country side just might be the thing he needed to clear his head. He dressed and headed downstairs. The house was quiet, so everyone was sleeping. Sam was snoring softly on the couch with a book open on his chest. Liam smiled a little at that as he headed out.
Dean woke to an empty bed and was a little freaked out. He went looking around the house for his mate, but didn’t find him anywhere. “You know how he likes to go off on his own,” Sam said while they sat and ate breakfast. “He’s got a lot on his mind now too.”
“Yeah, and when he goes off on his own something bad tends to happen!” Dean cried as he picked up his phone and tried to call Liam. “Son of a bitch!” he shouted when he heard Liam’s ring tone come from the bedroom.
The hours ticked by and there was no sign of Liam. “I don’t like this shit,” Dean said as he looked at the clock again while he paced. “When will he learn some consideration for others?”
“Dean, he might’ve just gotten turned around and lost. Bobby went out to look for him, and I’m sure he’ll find him. Try to relax a little.”
A half hour later Bobby came back with Liam in tow. “Found him along the side of the road heading for the next town over.”
“Sorry,” Liam hung his head. “I got turned around and thought I was heading back here. Won’t happen again.”
“Beer?” Bobby offered him one. “After that long of a walk you must be thirsty.”
Sam and Dean watched the whole scene closely with furrowed eyebrows. It was odd that Bobby was offering him one when just the night before Liam said he didn’t like beer, but they trusted the older hunter’s instincts. It was even stranger when Liam took it with a smile. “Thanks.” Liam took a big sip and instantly started choking with steam sizzling out of his mouth. “What the hell!” he threw the bottle down.
“Got ya, you son of a bitch!” Bobby shouted with a gleam in his eye. “I knew you wasn’t acting right.”
Liam’s eyes turned black and the demon shrugged. “Okay, you got me. It’s not my fault this bastard is fighting me tooth and nail and won’t let me into his memories. I have honestly never met a soul like him. Royal pain in my ass! Question is, what are you going to do with me now? You can’t hurt me because you’ll hurt him too. Hell, maybe I’ll just kill him. He’s-” Liam’s eyes were clear for a brief moment. “Fighting me for control. Seriously, I’ve never heard of a human soul with such power. I can’t suppress him and put him to sleep.”
Sam tried to sneak up behind him to knock him out. The demon caught him just as he got close and with a wave of his hand Sam went flying into the wall and stayed pinned. Sam’s back arched and he screamed in pain as a little blood trickled down the corner of his mouth. “Come on, Dean,” the demon taunted. “I’m killing your brother. You’d better stop me.”
Dean gave Bobby a panicked look. The older hunter just shrugged and motioned to the hallway. Dean could only stare back until he finally remembered there was a devil’s trap on the ceiling out there. If they could just get this demon into it and trap it. “So, that’s the grand plan?” Dean gave a little cocky smirk. “Slide yourself into my boyfriend’s body and try to kill my brother so that I have to choose? You know I can’t do that. No, if your goal is to hurt me, why don’t you just get it over with?”
The demon laughed. “Emotional owies hurt more, especially for you, Dean. You’d better choose quickly, your brother only has minutes left.”
Bobby splashed Liam with holy water, making the demon drop Sam and howl in pain. “You’ll pay for that!” the demon spat and flung Bobby against the wall instead. With the demon distracted Dean grabbed the discarded bottle of beer and smacked the back of Liam’s head as hard as he could. The bottle broke and seemed to only piss the demon off further. “That isn’t going to work,” the demon smiled sardonically.
“Alright,” Dean held out his hands in surrender and took a step back. “You win. Now what are you going to do?”
The demon took a step toward him. “You know, I don’t know. I could kill you all and keep this body for my prize, but I don’t know if this bastard will ever stop trying to fight me, and I don’t know if I could handle the constant struggle.”
Dean took another step back, willing the demon to follow him. “If you kill me then there’s no point in keeping the body anyway. There will be no one to taunt with the fact a demon is using the man I love for a meat suit.”
“True,” the demon took that next step. “Although, something just occurred to me. I wonder, am I a better fuck than your boy toy?”
Dean’s eyes narrowed and he tried not to smile as the demon took two more steps toward him. “What are you getting at?” he took another step back.
The demon shrugged and continued to move forward. “Just an idle fancy. It would bring you pleasure to give you this body, but somehow I wonder if you could live with knowing that you’ve essentially raped your lover again. It’s at the forefront of his thoughts you know. He’s really shaken up about it and he can’t hide that from me.”
Dean shook his head. “You can’t make me have sex.”
“Oh, can’t I?” The demon headed straight for him, but passed under the trap and was stopped in his tracks. “What the?”
“Look up, asshole,” Dean smirked.
The demon looked up and he screamed in rage. “You tricked me! Alright, fine, you’ve got me trapped, but you still can’t get me out.”
“Wanna bet? Sam, Bobby, you two okay?”
“Yeah,” Sam nodded. “I’ll live.” He grabbed a chair and forced it under Liam’s legs. “Sit, demon.”
Bobby grabbed a well worn book and turned it to the right page. “Let’s get this demon gone.”
He started chanting the exorcism spell, and the demon twisted in the seat like it was working. Then about five phrases in he started laughing. “Oops, guess it isn’t gonna work after all. One thing I did extract from him was how to seal myself inside.”
Dean grabbed Liam’s arm and pulled up the sleeve. Right there just above his elbow carved in the skin with some crude instrument was a symbol. Without hesitation Dean grabbed a knife and cut a large chunk of the skin off, blood pouring down Liam’s arm. “Now try.”
Bobby started the spell all over again. This time it worked, sending the demon smoking out of Liam’s mouth and out through a vent. Liam collapsed back in the chair panting heavily. “Now will you stop going off by yourself?” Dean asked as he rushed to get Bobby’s first aid kit.
“Yeah,” Liam nodded, hissing when antiseptic was poured onto the open wound.
Dean bandaged him up and then leaned in to kiss him. “I really couldn’t choose between Sam and you. You’re both my world, I hope you two know that.”
“We love you too,” Sam smiled. It was like pulling teeth usually to get Dean to admit his feelings. With Liam around Dean was different, and in a good way.
“How do you two feel about getting tattoos?” Dean asked.
Liam shrugged. “I’m not exactly against it. Why?”
“Because I just had a thought. We have to make sure a demon can’t do this to us again. We can get anti-possession tattoos on our chests.”
“Not the worst idea you’ve ever had,” Sam nodded. “I’ll get right on finding a reputable artist in the area.”
“Now, you,” Dean turned to Liam. “I don’t want you leaving this house alone for any reason. You got that? Too much bad shit has happened to you when you’re alone.”
Liam sighed, but knew better than to argue. He was probably going to continue to do whatever the hell he wanted anyway just like always. It was one of his more annoying qualities, sure, but it made him who he was.
