Trigger warning: Kidnap, drugs etc
Erin approached Tawny's residence and anxiously rang the doorbell. As she reached the door, a nagging unease urged her to summon backup. However, she had assured Mr. Clifford that she herself would apprehend the suspects.
"Detective Lindsay," Tawny exclaimed with bewilderment, seeing Erin on her doorstep. "Hey," Erin replied softly, her expression mirroring Tawny's confusion. "Is everything alright? Why did you leave the hospital?" she asked.
Tawny shrugged and tilted her head. "The nurse said I could," she replied. She looked over her shoulder before facing Erin again. "Was I not supposed to?" she asked hesitantly.
"It's fine," Erin said, dismissing the matter. If the nurse had cleared Tawny for discharge, it wasn't her place to question it further.
Erin eyed the house, then turned to Tawny. "Whose house is this?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. Tawny shrugged. "Crashing with a friend," she replied.
"Okay," Erin said, offering a small folder. "We have a lead. I was hoping you could review some photos for me."
"Of course. Come in," Tawny said, opening the door wider for Erin to enter. She noticed Ty and Spence peeking out from the dining room as Erin sat on the couch with Tawny.
Unaware of the potential trouble she was wading into, Erin took her jacket off, feeling comfortable since she was indoors.
( Justin, Voight, and the others)
As he occupied his father's office chair, Justin's attention wavered between Adam's conversation and his anxious thoughts about Erin.
"Are you alright?" Voight asked, glancing up from his book.
"I don't know," Justin replied, his face etched with worry. "I have a nagging feeling."
Voight met Justin's gaze. "Concerned about Erin?" he asked, recognizing the source of his son's unease from his restless foot tapping.
"Yes. Shouldn't she have returned by now?" Justin pointed out. "Retrieving information usually doesn't take this long."
"Some tasks require more time than others," Voight explained calmly. "Erin's capable and independent. She'll contact us if she faces any challenges."
Justin let out a sardonic laugh. "Have you even met Erin? She's known for handling matters on her own.”
“You're right,” Voight admitted. He was concerned but didn't want to alarm the others. Justin's ears twitched when Atwater entered and informed them of new case information.
“The Suburban isn't leading anywhere,” Adam reported, frustration evident in his tone. “I ran it through every license plate scanner.”
Antonio nodded in agreement. “Same here.” His gaze shifted to Voight's son seated in his father's chair, concern etched on his face. Antonio understood his worries about Erin but knew she was capable and one of the strongest women he'd met.
Atwater studied his computer screen. “Ty Henley studied for a semester at UW Madison,” Jay announced, approaching the whiteboard. He attached a picture of Henley next to Spence's.
"Isn't that where Spence is from?" Al asked, rising from his seat. "Put them in the same place," Adam instructed.
"Spence's apartment listing in Madison..." Antonio started, but Jay interrupted. "Look at the other name on the lease," he said, pointing.
Antonio approached to examine the name as Adam also stood up. "Tawny Darrens?" Adam inquired, perplexed.
"Possibly," Al suggested. "But before we speculate, it's crucial to note that the victim exhibited signs of sexual assault and nitrous oxide in her bloodstream."
Adam raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "You're implying she harmed herself?" he asked.
"Tawny fabricated the incident?" Jay wondered aloud as Justin and Voight exited the office upon hearing the news. Voight's eyes flickered with apprehension.
Antonio nodded, his fists clenched. "As soon as we apprehend Spence, she fabricates a timeline and a fictitious boyfriend intervenes," he said, concerned about the unfolding situation.
Jay's fearful blue eyes fixed on Antonio and Al. "Lindsay's with Tawny!" he exclaimed, his head spinning with concern. His words spurred everyone to rise from their seats.
Justin's heart raced upon learning that Erin was with a suspect. He watched as Jay snatched his jacket and Antonio propelled Adam aside, allowing him to rush downstairs. Justin joined them, recognizing the urgency of Erin's situation.
"I knew something was amiss," Justin muttered, bothered by the initial lack of concern. However, relief washed over him as the team swiftly mobilized in Erin's aid.
Voight paused and faced Mouse. "Contact Erin. Confirm her whereabouts with Tawny," he ordered. Mouse nodded solemnly, his worry evident. "On it," he replied.
( Erin, And Tawny)
Erin sat on the couch, listening to Tawny discuss the pictures. Tawny's finger traced the paper as she spoke.
"I recall his hair being darker back then," Tawny said, pausing at a particular photo.
"Take your time," Erin replied, allowing Tawny to consider the options. She shifted into a comfortable position, her gaze falling on Tawny. "That could be him," Tawny declared confidently.
Erin nodded with a gentle smile, relieved to have found a lead. She began to lean forward when her phone buzzed. To her surprise, Mouse was calling. She reached for her phone.
"I have to go," Erin announced, rising to her feet. However, before she could take a step, a hard object struck her in the back of the head. Erin gasped in surprise as arms encircled her and a cloth was roughly pressed over her mouth and nose.
The young woman struggled against her attacker. Her eyes darted to Tawny, who stood motionless, as if she had been complicit in the assault.
Erin used her arms to fight back, her nails digging into Spence's wrists. Spence hissed in pain and tightened his grip, pressing the chloroform cloth against Erin's mouth and nose.
Tawny watched as Spence tried to make Erin lose consciousness. Erin's hazel eyes began to close; her arms went limp, and her head fell forward.
( Justin, Voight)
Meanwhile, Voight drove to the house where Tawny, Henley, and Spence lived. "Lindsay's phone is still at the location," Mouse reported over the phone.
Justin tapped his foot nervously, hoping to reach Erin before anything happened. "Thanks," Voight said to Mouse as he turned left.
"What's the plan?" Justin asked, looking at his father.
"You'll stay with the car while the team and I rescue Erin," Voight replied.
Justin hesitated, eager to participate. "You're staying here," Voight explained. "We can't risk alerting the suspects and endangering Erin." Justin reluctantly nodded.
"Hang on, Erin," Justin whispered as his father drove toward her location. Erin's silence to Mouse's calls filled him with worry.
( Henley, Tawny, and Spence)
Outside the room where they held the female detective, Henley plotted their next move. Unable to resist, he yearned to enter and indulge in his cruel pleasure. He had never targeted a cop before and intended to savor this opportunity.
"Let's just end it with a bullet," Spence proposed, looking at his comrades. "Killing a cop...that's suicide," Tawny protested. Henley rejected the idea of murder, at least not before he'd satisfied his desires.
Henley shook his head. "Kidnapping is just as wrong," he said, his hands in his pockets. "We need to get out of here, either way."
Spence didn't want to stay any longer. Erin's team was on its way, and he wanted to be gone. "Let's just leave her," Tawny suggested, glancing at the room where their hostage was held. "She'll be fine until her team gets here."
Spence nodded, relieved. "I'm going to pack." He turned and walked down the hall to his room.
"Alright," Tawny said, starting to follow her boyfriend.
"Wait a minute," Henley said, stopping Tawny and making her look at him. Her eyes narrowed. "Seriously?" she asked, recognizing the look in his eyes and knowing what he intended to do. But she knew she couldn't stop him.
Henley smirked at Tawny. "Get out or watch," he said, licking his lips. "Up to you. I'm going to have my fun with that detective." He strode to the room as Tawny assisted Spence.
"Don't take too long, Henley," Tawny cautioned. "Lindsay may be attractive, but she's not worth getting caught for."
Henley rolled his eyes. "I'll try, but no promises," he replied, unwilling to rush this. He intended to savor his pleasure, and he would do so right in front of the female detective's team.
