Veronica brushed her hair at the sink in the girls' locker room. They had just finished cheer practice, and her boyfriend was waiting outside to walk home with her.
The raven-haired girl glanced at the voices behind her and saw Josie and Cheryl entering the locker room to change. She tried to hear what they were saying, but they were whispering.
"Oh, hey Veronica," Josie greeted. "Hey, what are you two talking about?" Veronica asked, putting her brush in her bag and zipping it up. "Just talking about the sleepover we're going to have," Cheryl said, joining the conversation.
Veronica nodded and picked up her bag. "Have fun," she said and headed out. "How about you join us?" Cheryl offered with a smirk. "We can talk," she said.
" Sounds good, I'll go tell Archie I'll see him at school. The Latina said this before leaving the locker room to let her boyfriend know she was going to Cheryl's house for the weekend.
Veronica smiled when she saw Archie leaning against the wall across from the locker room. "Hey baby," the redhead greeted, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Hey handsome," Veronica smiled, placing a kiss on his lips. "Change of plans," she said against his lips. "Cheryl and Josie want me to join them at the sleepover."
Archie groaned as he held her in his arms. He didn't want her out of his sight, especially with the guy who kept following him around. He was worried something would happen.
Veronica pulled away and looked into his eyes, "Don't worry, I'll be completely safe." She said with a smile, seeing the look on his face. "I know. I just couldn't help but worry," Archie said, his arms still around her waist.
"I know, but I'm a big girl, Archie," Veronica reminded him playfully, kissing his cheek. "I don't think anything will happen at a sleepover." She said, pulling away to follow Josie and Cheryl.
Archie held her hand. "Call me if anything happens," he said, looking at her. She giggled. "I promise to call if anything happens," she promised, kissing his hand before letting go.
Veronica waved goodbye to her boyfriend before catching up to the other two girls. "Do you want to invite Betty?" Cheryl asked, walking to her car. "I think she's busy with Jughead, but I can text her and ask," Veronica said.
The raven-haired teen pulled out her phone and texted Betty: "Hey, would you like to come to the sleepover at Cheryl's?"
Veronica's phone binged as she sat in Cheryl's car. She checked it and saw a text from Betty: "Not this time, Vee. Something came up, maybe next time."
"Okay, that's fine. See you on Monday," Veronica texted back. She put her phone down and Betty replied, "See you on Monday."
Veronica saw Cheryl's house and got out of the car after the redhead parked and turned off the engine. "Alright, girls, let's go inside and have some fun," Cheryl said, walking into the house with Josie and Veronica following.
Veronica stopped when she heard a sound from the woods. She turned toward the noise and squinted, seeing a shadowy figure staring back at her.
"Veronica, what are you doing?" Josie's voice made the Latina jump slightly. Veronica turned to her friend, who was standing at the door. "Nothing," the raven-haired teen answered, and walked inside without looking back.
Once the girls went inside, a figure stepped out of the shadows, followed by another. "We'll wait until it gets darker," the first figure said, looking up at the room with the light on.
Veronica sat on Cheryl's bed while Josie sat at the desk. Cheryl entered the room with a tray of snacks and drinks. "Here you go," the redhead said with a grin, setting the tray down on the nightstand.
"What do you guys want to talk about?" Veronica asked, leaning forward and taking a cookie. "Anything," Cheryl replied, clapping her hands and sitting at the end of the bed.
Josie got up, joined them on the bed, took a glass of wine, and sat down. "Anything other than what happened at the musical the past couple of days."
"I'd rather not talk about it either," Veronica agreed. "We could talk about boys, or we can watch a movie," Cheryl suggested, grabbing the TV remote and browsing Netflix.
"So, Veronica, what's been catching your eye in the woods?" Cheryl asked, flipping through movies and shows. "It's nothing, Cheryl," Veronica replied, shaking her head. She didn't want to scare anyone or cause any trouble. "I just thought I saw a figure near the woods, but it could have been a deer."
Cheryl nodded. "We do get those around here." The redhead then clicked on a movie they all agreed on. Veronica leaned back on the bed and checked her phone for texts, but there weren't any.
She turned back to the TV as the movie started, smiling as they watched "The Kissing Booth." She took another bite of a cookie.
- Archie-
Archie finally got home. He couldn't shake off a bad feeling, but he didn't want Veronica to think he was being overprotective, so he let her enjoy herself.
He went inside, petted Vegas when the dog came over wagging his tail, and said, "Hi buddy." Then, Archie grabbed a soda and went upstairs to his room.
He sat on the bed, took off his shoes and socks, and decided he would shower and then play some games.
Archie took out his phone to see if Veronica had texted. He figured she was having fun hanging out with Josie and Cheryl, and he didn't mind.
After a few hours of gaming and a shower, Archie was lying on his bed watching TV. He checked the time; it was 8 PM. He pulled out his phone to check on Veronica.
"How is it going?" Archie texted and turned back to the movie, laughing at the scene. He then checked his phone. "Everything is good," Veronica texted back. "That's good, I'm just checking on you," Archie replied.
Archie set his phone down. Veronica texted back, "Okay, love you." The redhead smiled and texted back, "Love you too."
