Shannon and Michonne were sitting in the infirmary. The Grimes children and Constance, Andrea's baby whom Rick named after Lori's sister, were at the table they brought into the cell block, eating breakfast. Andrea was finally allowed outside her cell, but kept under strict supervision since she had made threats to everyone. Carol and Beth were tending to the crops. Merle was in his cell talking to Daryl, and Carl was being polite and trying to listen to Eugene discuss physics. Abe and Hershel joined Ty and Rick in looking at the map, and Jacqui went into the infirmary to talk to Michonne. Bob was making a list of the dwindling medical supplies they needed.
It was a relatively peaceful, quiet morning.
Nobody heard The Governor's vehicles approaching, nor did they hear the sound of Joe's group, waiting with their motorcycles. Nobody was in the watchtower, since it was day time.
The sound of The Governor driving through the first gate caught almost everyone's attention. After the vehicle drove through the second, and the double set of gates, Rick and Abe yelled that everyone take cover as they ran to the weapons cell. Rick yelled at Sasha to get the kids, and with Carol's help, the baby and all five of the younger children were huddled with Carl and Morgan. Abe and Daryl grabbed some weapons, and a duffle bag, which Daryl stuffed full of guns and ammo. Rick cursed himself for not having an escape route, as the door leading to the cars was now in danger of being shot down.
Michonne got out of bed, despite Bob telling her to lie down, and quickly got dressed. She held onto her Kantana. Then the sound of a man's voice cut her to the core.
"Little pig, little pig, let me in." The Governor said, laughing. Daryl was holding his crossbow, and had guns and a knife surrounding his waistband. The door exploded, and an object was thrown into the middle of the cellblock. It was moving, and when Ty and Hershel got closer they saw the walker version of Maggie, her hands bound behind her and her throat slit.
Soon after several armed men came in a started shooting, and the members of the prison group ran. Jacqui grabbed Connie and started to run, and was shot in the back. She landed face first on the ground and crushed the baby. Merle tried to shoot but couldn't run because of his leg, and he was shot and killed right in front of Daryl. Hershel, transfixed at looking at his daughter, collapsed. Ty saw him grab his chest before he fell over. Morgan yelled, and pushed the women and children away before he started to return fire, shooting as many as the intruders as he could before taking a bullet to the gut. Andrea was shot in the head, and Morgan lost so much blood he passed out, and later took his last breath.
There was a long stretch of silence before The Governor came forward and said, in a booming voice, "Give me Michonne."
One of the members of The Governor's army, who had no idea they would be shooting at women and children, saw the small, broken body of Connie, turned around and shot The Governor in the head. Lilly was immediately shot by Rick, who demanded that everyone keep firing. The entire building rocked, and Rick looked out to see a tank shooting holes in the prison. Walls started to fall down. He saw Sasha holding a screaming Judith, flanked with Carl and the kids, and tried to yell something to her before a large portion of a wall landed between them, separating them both. Rick screamed and tried to run to her, but it was no use.
Daryl ran over with Beth, one picked up Alex and the other Bobby, and they all ran towards sunlight...and what they hoped was freedom. Daryl saw one member of Joe's group and quietly walked up on man. He pulled the man's head back by the hair and slit his throat, before taking his weapon and letting the body fall to the ground. Daryl looked around and didn't see any other members of Joe's group. He found one of The Governor's cars, and had Sasha, Judy, Beth, Carl, Luke, Mika, Alex and Bobby get in before he drove away. Beth was screaming that they have to go back to get Hershel and Maggie, but Daryl said they're gone. He saw Merle's head explode in front of him. Just as Hershel looked back when his farm fell, Beth looked back at the prison as it was falling. Sasha folded the petite blonde into a hug and held her as she cried.
