CHAPTER XXVII
Julian was quiet as he was tugged along. Garak turned, kissing him as soon as they were in the bedroom. He looped an arm around the human's waist and held Julian to his chest. Now that he was certain that the pet was not deceiving him in the least, Julian could be thoroughly and completely ravished. Julian was too lovely. He stroked Julian's shoulders, pushing him gently toward the bed. “Wait,” Julian said. He wiggled as Garak kissed and nudged him toward the bed. He accepted the kisses and fought not to rub the neck ridges. They invited touch. But if he rubbed them, Garak might feel entitled to do more. “Garak. Wait.” “For what?” Garak asked, stopping the kisses as he tugged Julian against him. His hands slid down to massage the pet's backside. Julian pushed at Garak. Garak did not trust him. He could not do this. It was not right. Garak was very desirable, but it could not be done. He gasped and turned his head to the side as lips found the base of his neck. He leaned back as the strong arms wrapped around him. His arms moved around Garak's neck. Garak rubbed the soft golden body in front of him. He hissed and rumbled softly. The pet was finally beginning to behave himself in private. He was being docile. Not that Garak didn't enjoy their rougher moments. When Julian lifted the phaser had to be one of his favorite memories with the human. He had been sly, devious, and nearly won. That was what convinced him of Julian's potential value as a lesser partner on his current mission. Julian stiffened and wiggled. He did not want to be used. He pushed on Garak's shoulders. “What's wrong, Julian? I know you are enjoying this.” Garak whispered against the slender neck. He rubbed his nose against the soft pulse point before placing a feathery kiss on it. Julian wiggled to try to escape the burning touches of the Cardassian. Garak would be an amazing lover. It was the Cardassian attention to detail. He had proven himself inventive enough already. He pressed his back to Garak's chest as he was placed softly on the bed. “I can't,” he said, wiggling more. He bit his lip to hold in his pleasured noises. The noises seemed to drive Garak wilder. Garak kissed down Julian's sternum. “Please stop, Garak.” Garak lifted off Julian and breathed heavily. He eyed the lovely unadorned body lustily. The human's silky skin was made to be stroked. “Why?” Garak asked, turning Julian so they made eye contact. He almost snorted at the vision of the lovely brown eyes, so wide and glowing. Maybe the pet would prefer to belong to Kell. Well, he didn't. Julian belonged to him, and the pet would learn to like it. He would teach him how good he had it. “Garak,” Julian lay still, seeing the hurt in his friend's eyes for a moment. “You don't trust me. I do not want to be intimate with someone who does not trust me. I believe that trust is a fundamental part of a loving relationship. Love, from a human perspective, can not live without trust. I can't do this.” Garak backed off the pet. The pet felt he did not care. He had done everything he could to be sure that Julian knew he was safe. How could the pet so thoroughly misunderstand? Of course, trusting Julian was difficult. He had never had anyone he could fully trust. “You are mine,” Garak said, petting the slender golden neck. “I am your master.” Surely the human understood that he was special. He settled close to Julian and rested his arm across him possessively. Julian rolled so he faced Garak. “Yet, you do not trust your own, do you?” Julian stood up and walked softly to the bed of pillows in the corner. “This is important. I do not know how to make you understand.” “You thought I would sell you for a night, when I told you that you were mine alone. You can not say that you trust me either.” Garak bit back the rest of his comment. It would have been to hurtful, and he already planted the seed in fertile soil. He had to avoid the weeds. Julian wiggled and sat on the edge of the bed. He leaned his elbows for a minute before turning to look into the pale blue eyes. “What reason have you given me to trust you? You lie and dissemble whenever it suits your purpose.” Julian stood, staring at Garak. He would not mind enjoying the comfortable bed with the Cardassian. But he could not trust himself to not be seduced. He already was aching for Garak's hands to pet. The memories from this morning made him throb. “Have I lied to you?” “You stole a phaser and pointed it at me.” Garak said, touching Julian's wrist. The pet was being obtuse again. “You thought it was cute and flirtatious.” “So it was, Julian. We can share the bed.” “I don't want you to think that I would hurt you in your sleep. I am across the room. I have no weapon. I can't hurt you. I wouldn't.” Garak bit back his demand that the pet return. He would not submit to the impulse to scoop up Julian and force him to cuddle. He would not be reduced to that by a pet. He would not say that being slapped by the pet would have been more pleasant than enduring this rejection. He had never been refused so many times. But if the pet wanted to sleep on the pillows, Julian was allowed. Garak would not beg. Garak rolled over and scowled, facing away from Julian. He needed to get Julian to trust him. But how? ~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~ Julian was quiet as he brought Garak breakfast. He felt sick at his stomach. Garak had not said a word to him since last night. Had he been offensive? He could not be intimate with Garak when Garak was so distrustful. It just felt wrong. Garak sipped his tea, trying not to observe the pet too much. Julian opened his mouth to speak. But he closed it quickly. He took Garak's empty bowl to the replicator. “G—“ Julian went silent and looked down. It might be best not to try to force the issue. He sat down in the chair across from Garak, watching him. Garak lifted the pad, ignoring the human. Julian had been far too stubborn last night. But Garak was patient. He would have to bide his time. When the time came, Julian would wonder why he had waited so long. He had only nibbled lightly on his Delvan fluff pastry. His own red leaf tea had gone to room temperature and was no longer palatable. “Garak, I did not intend to upset you. I just--” Julian cut off as Garak held up a hand. The pet was apologizing. Garak felt a strange flop in his stomach and flutter in his heart. Everything was not ruined. “Garak, can we talk?” Garak pondered a moment. The pet might be playing with him. He would get a hell of an ass beating if he was. “I think you said all that needed saying last night.” “I was being honest. I know you think that means unimaginative. But you are important. Our relationship is important to me. And I wanted to say that I was sorry.” Garak set the pad down. The pet should be sorry for rejecting him, but nothing could be done to help the pet with his needs at the moment. There was no time to do them justice. He had no time to properly pleasure Julian now, and Julian needed sexual gratification. It was part of why he was so uppity. “I should have trusted you when you said that you would not share me. It was unkind to you to treat you differently. I also apologize if anything I said last night about how I felt hurt you. I—I did not inquire about how Cardassians view relationships. It was sort of giving you a jack-in-the-box. It was not fair.” Julian reached over and touched Garak's hand. “Jack in the box?” Garak asked, tilting his head. Humans were such lovely pets. Julian was so adorably clueless that Garak was scheming about how to have his way with him. Julian felt guilty. What a lovely trait, at this moment! How delightful. He would have to remember the trick of acting pensive or a good sullen word might work even better. “A children's toy. It is wound up and plays music and at the end, a toy man pops out the top to startle the child.” Garak observed the pet's demeanor. What was he supposed to say now? No one had ever apologized to him before. Not sincerely, anyway. And the soft creature had the marks of sincerity. “Julian, I am going to be dropping you off at Legate Ghemor's house. I expect you to listen to everything Tskara tells you.” Julian looked away as the leash was attached to his collar, and he was led outside for transport. Did Garak accept and believe his apology? He reached out, wrapping his fingers softly around Garak's wrist. He lifted the hand holding his leash to his mouth. He had to make Garak believe his sincerity. He kissed the hand softly before the dematerialized. ~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~
