Part Two
Donna
wasn’t all that surprised to still hear music coming from Josh’s office. He probably never went home last night. He was working on a report for the president
that was due this afternoon. She turned
on her computer and put her coat away.
Sam and Toby were walking in and mumbled a hello in greeting, both
already discussing a speech the president was going to give tomorrow
night. She knocked on her boss’s
door. She needed more coffee and Josh
might want something. There was no
answer. Could he have fallen
asleep? Definitely a possibility. She knocked again and opened the door.
Toby
and Sam were in Sam’s office talking when the heard Donna’s scream. They ran to Josh’s office. CJ who was walking in followed on their heals. None
were prepared for what they saw.
Donna
was hysterical. “CJ, call security, and
take Donna. Make sure the president is
safe.” Toby said as Sam went into the
office to check on the body on the desk.
“Toby its Josh.”
Sam said as he looked at his face.
“They shaved his head.”
“We
got to get him off the desk.” Toby
said.
“We
can’t it’s a crime scene.” He looked
around and grabbed a blanket from the couch and covered Josh’s body.
Leo
ran into the room with the secrete service.
“What happ-“ He
never finished as he saw the body on the desk.
“Is that?”
“Yeah,
Donna found him.” Toby added.
“The
first lady is with Donna right now. She
refused to stay when there was someone hurt down here. I think Charlie is sitting on the
President.”
“There
is a note stapled to his back.” Sam said
as he looked over the body. “Skinheads
did this, Leo. They signed the note, and
left swastikas on his body. Carved one into his head.”
Sam outlined it. And then lifted up the blanket to reveal his bottom. “And here.”
“I
had to sedate Donna. CJ is staying with
her.” The first lady said as she walked
into the office.
“Abby,
it’s Josh.” Leo warned.
She
gasped when she saw the body. “Where is
some one from CS?”
“They
are being escorted here now. The ambulance
will be a bit longer ma’am.” A man in
uniform explained.
“Shit. Okay.”
Abby went over to check for a pulse.
“He still breathing. Use the blanket around the knife wounds on
his hands and legs.
“Where
is the body?” A man with a notebook
spoke.
“In
here.”
“Get
the pictures quickly. We need to get him
off the desk. He is loosing too much
blood.” Abby stated.
“You
are going to have to remove the blanket and get out of the way ma’am.” The camera man stated.
Abby
stepped out of the way. “Leo.”
“I
know Abby.”
“Jed
is pissed that I am here and he is not.”
“There
is nothing that we can do.”
After
the a few moments of silence, they were allowed back into the room. “Remove the gag first.” She told one of the agents who were wearing
gloves. She knew all this had to go to
the crime lab. “Sam, Leo, Toby. I need you to hold him so he won’t move when
we remove the knives and staples.”
The
three men moved to do what they were told.
The carpet around Josh’s legs were already soaked with blood and
squished when they walked on it. The
staples that held his sides to the desk were removed first. The tape was cut away next. “The legs first.”
She told them. The knives being removed
caused Josh to stir. “Help, please
someone help me.” He croaked as he tried to move. Sam leaned over to whisper in his ear.
“Josh,
we got you. You’re safe. We are here to help you.”
He
didn’t hear the words of comfort, he kept asking for help. Once the knives in his hands were removed, Abby took
over. “Lower him on to the floor on his
stomach. Support his chest and head.”
They
tried to move him but couldn’t he was still attached to the desk some how. “Where?” Abby asked
as she and Toby looked around the body, as Leo and Sam held it up. Toby was the one who saw what it was.
