It's every single movement of Arthur's and the tone of his voice as he shouts one instruction after another which convinces Lancelot it isn't just an act put on for training. Everything about Arthur, his watchful eyes picking up every little fault and the particular downturn of his mouth as he instructs and observes is too sincere for it to be anything but utter truth.
But if Lancelot might have been uncertain about it, that was now gone. Even with the door to his chambers securely closed and three sets of clothing strewn on the floor, Arthur still has that way about him. It was Merlin who did the preparation, sliding oil-slicked fingers inside Lancelot. Then there was Arthur's tight hold on his hips and the pain of his cock pushing up where Merlin's fingers had been. Arthur sits up, pulls Lancelot back onto his lap. It's partly for Merlin to be able to slide close to Lancelot, practically on his lap in turn, to nuzzle and kiss at his collarbone and grind their cocks together. But it's mostly so Arthur can push himself inside Lancelot quickly and listen to his moans and cries which are often muffled by Merlin's mouth. He holds Lancelot close to him, his grip tight, and all the while he watches him closely, testing and evaluating.
"This changes nothing," Arthur pants and growls into Lancelot's shoulder. "You still need to prove your worth to me on the battlefield."
Lancelot twists to look him in the eyes and meet the hard gaze. He feels his stomach clench because Arthur's eyes look so intense but it's just another challenge he needs to face and rise to. "I wouldn't dare ask anything other than that."
He feels Merlin smile against his neck and if Lancelot had any doubts of that being the one correct answer they were gone from that moment.
