I felt warm sunshine on my face. I smiled and yawned, groggily opening my eyes. Sam was curled up beside me in bed. His back was facing me. I was curled up against him with my arm draped over his side. His but was pressing against my groin. I smiled and kissed him on the shoulder. He woke up and turned over. “Hey morning,” he said softly stretching lazily. I grinned. “Morning yourself,” I said warmly. “Last night was incredible.” Sam reached up and let his fingers run through my hair, gently twirling a strand of hair around his finger. “Yes it was,” he said softly. I pressed my cheek against his bare chest and snuggled up against him. “How are we going to do this though?” I asked him quietly. “Being you’re my boss and all.” Sam inhaled then exhaled loudly. “Well, we’re going to have to put on a show,” he said. “I’m sure Sookie knows already knowing her.” I pulled away from Sam. “Yeah. It’s gonna be hard. I love you,” Sam smiled. “Same here. It’s gonna be hard seeing you in the uniform when all I can think about is what we did,” I playfully swatted him. “Dirty minded boy. Come on Sookie’s probably up already and I smell breakfast,” I grabbed my work clothes and quickly pulled them on. I ran a brush through my hair and pulled it into a braid. I fastened it with a rubber band. I applied some makeup. Sam already had pulled on his clothes. We headed down stairs. Sure enough, Sookie was cooking. Bill wasn’t at the table, but Jason was. Sookie looked up as Sam and I entered. I took a seat at the table. She smirked and arched an eyebrow up at Sam. “Ah, someone had fun last night,” She said knowingly placing a plate filled with eggs, bacon and sausage down in front of me. “Sookie,” Sam said. “Those are real private thoughts. I know I said you could read my thoughts but not this time.” “Sam,” Sookie said grinning. “Look I know you two had sex even if I hadn’t read your mind. I can see it in your faces. You’re both glowing.” Jason at that moment had taken a sip of his orange juice and nearly choked on it. “Geeze Sook!” Jason exclaimed wiping off some of the juice that had dribbled down his chin. “Not at the breakfast table!” Sam shook his head but was looking amused. He took a seat next to Jason as Sookie placed a plate down in front of him next. Sookie laughed and joined us shortly with her own plate. “It’s fine. You’re secrets safe,” She said patting Sam’s hand. I giggled and dug into my bacon. Jason looked at me. “You seem happy though,” He commented. “That’s a real good thing.” I nodded and smiled, then turned my attention onto my eggs. I felt a gentle kick under the table. I knew it was Sookie. I glared at her irritably. She leaned in. “Jason’s jealous,” Sookie whispered to me. “He likes you too.” I nearly choked on a piece of egg until Jason leaned over and pounded me on the back. I took a drink of orange juice. Sam was watching me anxiously but relaxed when he saw I was ok. “TMI Sookie at the breakfast table, really,” I commented. She laughed again and gave my arm an affectionate squeeze. Jason was good looking too but he was a real ladies man. He had sex with a few women. I was the type of girl that liked to settle down etcetera. Jason was a good guy though. He would never harm a woman or be anything like David was. But I was in love with Sam. Very much. I only saw Jason as a best friend really. Once we were done with breakfast, we all headed off to work. “Ooh honey child!” Lafayette gushed as I picked up Table 2’s order. He was Tara Thornton’s cousin, another one of Sookie’s best friends. He was a nice colored man but he was gay. I didn’t care. He was a good person. “You are looking radiant! Did someone do a little bump and grind last night?” he asked thrusting his hips suggestively. I burst out laughing. “OH! And with a certain sexy bar owner for that matter? Am I right?” He asked grinning at me. I nodded, blushing furiously. He let out a squeal and hugged me. Laughing I hugged him back. “That’s good. Sam needs a nice girl like you,” Lafayette said softly. “Get back to work you two,” Sam called. Lafayette put a hand on his hip. “Oh Sam really we were just talking,” Sam approached us. He was wiping a cloth over a glass. His eyebrow was arched. “Get back to work or else you’re going to have to find a new uniform,” his tone was light and teasing. Lafayette laughed and nodded. He playfully poked me in the ribs and went back to cooking. Sam winked at me and I grinned. I headed over to table 11 and began taking their order. The doors opened to the bar and a woman entered. She was a vampire, we could tell. Chatter died down around the bar as everyone watched her curiously and suspiciously. She took a seat at one of the booths. I saw Sookie head over to her and began writing down on her pad. I saw her expression. It was scared. I never saw this kind of expression on her face before but she quickly changed it to cover her reaction. I don’t think the vampire knew what was going on in Sookie’s mind. She dropped the order off to Lafayette. I went over to her. “What’s wrong Sookie?” I asked her. “That vampire…I-I could read her mind,” Sookie said slowly. Realization dawned on Lafayette and I’s faces. Sookie never could read a vampire’s mind. Why was this one so special? “What was she thinking?” I pressed her gently. Sookie raised her eyes to meet mine. “She was thinking that she wants to kill you,” “We won’t let that happen girlfriend,” Lafayette said firmly as he flipped one of the burgers. Sookie nodded. “He’s right,” “But why does she want to kill me?” I asked confused. “I’ve never met her.” Sam appeared beside me. “What’s going on? Why are two of my waitresses not doing their job?” “Sam, stop worrying about our stupid jobs and listen up,” Lafayette said exasperatedly. “That new vampire that came in? Sookie can read her mind. She wants to kill Liz.” Immediately Sam’s expression hardened and darkened. “Why?” he demanded looking at Sookie. “I don’t know. I think someone close to her was killed and she thinks Liz is responsible for it,” Sookie frowned thoughtfully. I felt Sam put a hand on my shoulder and gave it an affectionate squeeze. He leaned close and whispered in my ear. “I won’t let anything happen to you,” Sookie nodded. “Same here. We won’t let anything happen,” I smiled and relaxed. Sookie brought the vampire her order and business went as usual. After work, everyone tidied up and Sam was shutting down the bar. It was dark out now. I could hear the crickets humming. I wiped down one of the tables and ran a clean rag over the surface. Sookie and everyone had gone home already. I felt Sam come up behind me and wrap his arms around me, pulling me back against him. He gently kissed me on my neck and nuzzled my collar bone. I smiled and closed my eyes. He released me and then turned me around to face him. “Would you care to stay with me in the trailer? It’s late and the weather is starting to get bad,” Sam said. Sure enough I heard the loud boom of thunder in the distance and then lightning lit up the whole outside. I looked at him. “Oh Sam I can’t impose on you. The trailer is just barely enough for you I don’t want to crowd it,” I said softly placing the palms of my hands on his chest. Sam shook his head. “I don’t care,” he said. “Sam Sookie is expecting me. If I don’t show up at home, she’ll worry. Tell you what. You and I will have a sleep over tomorrow night. Deal?” I said grinning at him. Sam looked a bit spooked, which worried me. “What’s really bothering you?” I asked softly. “I have a bad feeling,” Sam said slowly. “Something’s gonna happen to you. Please Liz. Don’t go.” His blue eyes were twinkling and I saw a faint glisten of tears. “I’ll be fine ok?” I said and kissed him. He kissed me back but was reluctant to let me go. Finally we broke apart. “I’ll see you the morning.” I put a hand on the side of his face and then left the bar. I climbed into my Ford Taurus and started it. The engine purred to life. I put the car in drive and turned on the headlights. I pulled away from the bar and began heading down the road. Rain began pouring down, turning the road into mud. I switched on the wiper blades. As I rounded a bend, the headlights swept over a figure standing in the middle of the road. As I got closer, I realized it was the female vampire that had come into the bar. I slammed on the brakes. The tires skidded and the car fishtailed. I jerked the wheel, wanting to avoid hitting her. The car spun wildly in an arc. I screamed as the car went sideways down an embankment. The car flipped a few times. I screamed again. Eventually the car stopped and was resting on its roof with all four tires pointing skyward. I was upside down. I unbuckled my belt and dropped out of the seat. I crawled out of the window, which had shattered completely. My elbows dug into the mud as I maneuvered out of the car. Mud covered my arms, chest and cheeks. My hair was soaked and sticking to my neck and back. My clothes were also soaked and mud covered. Someone was standing above me. I looked up as the rain pelted down. The female vampire crouched down in front of me. She bared her fangs at me. “You will pay, Elizabeth Weston. You will pay for killing my David,” She snarled at me. Her fangs glistened in the moonlight. My heart nearly froze. She was with David? I wondered. She slowly reached down and yanked me to my feet. She jerked my head to the side, so the side of my throat was exposed. “Let this be a warning,” She hissed. “I’m not done with you yet.” She sank her fangs into my neck. I screamed at the top of my lungs. I woke up a few moments later. I was lying on my back on the ground. Mud was caked in my hair. My clothes were drenched. I felt weak. I shakily got to my feet and began heading back up the road to Merlotte’s. SAM I was beside myself with worry about Elizabeth. I had a bad feeling something was going to happen. I was behind the bar, fixing up the beer bottles when the front door opened. I looked up and saw Liz standing there. Her clothes were soaked. Mud caked everywhere on her. Her cheeks, clothes and in her hair. She was completely filthy, but my eyes were locked on her neck. Two puncture wounds were there. A bit of blood seeped down her clavicle. I leaped over the bar and ran to her. “Shit! Liz what happened!?” I demanded anxiously as I cupped her face in my hands. She just slumped into my arms. I carried her to my trailer. I placed her on the bed. I quickly wiped off as much mud as I could. I grabbed one of my old plaid shirts and changed her clothes. I bundled up her wet clothes and tossed them into the hamper in the corner. I gently sat her up and pulled on the warm plaid shirt. I buttoned it up. It was long and reached just below her knees. Next, I grabbed a brush and ran it through her damp blond hair, pulling out the clumps of mud that were caked. The mud on her face was dried and once she rested, she could take a shower. I tended to the puncture wounds. They weren’t healing. Whoever had done this did it to kill her. She was pale. I wound a bandage around her throat hoping some pressure would stop. I laid her down with her head on my pillow. She was lying in a fetal position and I pulled off her sneakers and socks. I ran a hand through my hair in panic. Normally vampires’ saliva acted like a coagulant, but whoever bit her, didn’t bother. I hated calling on Bill again, but my mind went to Eric Northham, the vampire sheriff. I don’t know why, but I grabbed the phone and dialed. Eric arrived shortly. I let him into the trailer. “Thank you Eric for coming,” I said leaning against my dresser with my arms crossed over my chest. “I figured I’d better tell you what happened earlier so you can decide what to do.” Eric’s posture was always business like and his blond hair was slicked back neatly. He was dressed in black slacks and a black dress shirt with a belt around his waist. He looked completely dry even though the rain was pouring down and drumming on the trailer roof. “Who did this?” Eric asked raising his gray-blue eyes to mine as he crouched down beside the bed. He gently touched Liz’s face. I bit my bottom lip. “I think it was the female vampire that came into the bar earlier today,” I relayed slowly. “Sookie was scared because she was able to read this particular vampire’s mind. She read that this woman was going to kill Liz for some reason.” “Whoever did this definitely wanted Liz dead. She didn’t bother sealing them,” Eric said as he gently peeled away the bandage. More blood was seeping out. Without a word, Eric pressed his lips over the two wounds. When he pulled back, the blood had stopped and the puncture wounds began healing. He let his fangs slide down. I moved toward Liz, anticipating he was going to harm her. Eric shook his head “I am not going to hurt her,” he said. “But she needs to drink my blood. She lost a good bit. You know of the consequences of drinking the vampire blood. She’ll feel things toward me.” “She’ll be alive. That’s all I care about,” I replied quietly. Eric nodded and raised his own wrist. He sank his fangs into the flesh and once again, Liz drank from him. LIZ I slowly opened my eyes. I was lying in a fetal position on a bed. I blinked, clearing my vision and realized I was in Sam’s trailer. I saw Sam asleep on a chair with his arms crossed over the table, and his head buried. His sides rose and fell in sync. He looked peaceful. I moved my eyes onto someone else sitting at the table. Eric Northham. Eric looked up and realized I was awake. He saw Sam sleeping and carefully got up not wanting to disturb him. Eric approached me. “Well I see you’re awake,” he said. “How are you feeling?” “Alright I guess,” I said slowly sitting up. The room swayed before my eyes as a wave of dizziness swept over me. “Just a little weak.” Eric nodded. “You lost a good amount of blood. Do you remember what this female vampire looked like?” I frowned and then told him the description. He slowly reached out and touched my cheek. I froze. I knew he wouldn’t hurt me, but I never saw him be this tender toward anyone. I knew he had a thing for Sookie but I was a little confused and unnerved by this side of him. “I see how important you are to Sam,” Eric said. “He cares very much for you. I can see why.” I swallowed and managed a smile. “We will hunt down this female vampire who broke the laws and see to it that she is punished,” Eric said as he turned to leave. “Tell Sam he owes me no favor. I will check in later.” With that, he left the trailer in a blur. Sam finally stirred and stretched lazily. He was still wearing the clothes from the day before. It finally dawned on me that I was wearing a plaid shirt and nothing else. Sam got up from the table and came over to me. “Hey,” he said softly as he sat on the bed beside me. “You feeling better?” I nodded. “Yes just a little weak,” I admitted. “And tired.” Sam wrapped his arm around me. I curled up with my head resting on his lap. He smoothed back my hair and just gently ran his fingers through my blond locks. “Sleep. I’ll stay right here,” he said quietly. My cheek was resting on his thigh. Feeling relaxed, I dozed off again. I awoke a bit later in the same position. I turned over onto my back and looked up at Sam. Only it wasn’t Sam. It was Eric. Eric smiled and leaned down to kiss me. I kissed him back. He slid his hands under my shirt over my left breast. I let out a soft moan. He kissed my throat. I tilted it to the side so he had easy access. Things began progressing. I jumped and sat bolt upright. “Liz?” Sam’s voice asked concerned. I dug the heels of my palms into my eyes and then removed them a few moments later. Sam was sitting where he had been all this time. Eric was nowhere to be seen. Sam’s blue eyes watched me concerned. “What the fuck did Eric to do me?” I asked. Understanding flitted across Sam’s face. “Oh. That’s a side effect of drinking his blood. It would’ve happened with Bill too. Had you not, you would’ve died,” “I seem to be almost dying frequently,” I said bitterly but sighed. “Though I admit I’d rather have these sick fantasies then be not here.” Sam drew me close to him. We both fell back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. I pressed myself against Sam and let my head rest on his chest. I played with the buttons on his shirt. His arm draped around me protectively. “I’d rather that too,” he admitted quietly. “I owe Eric a favor for saving you. I must admit I’m not looking forward to what that might be.” “Eric said you owe him nothing,” I relayed to him. Sam looked surprised but relieved. He cuddled me against him. I slowly got on top of Sam, straddling him. I balanced myself by placing my palms on his chest. He looked up at me and placed his hands on my hips. “Did you change my clothes?” Sam nodded. “Yeah you were soaked. I had to,” I grinned and leaned down. I pressed my forehead against his and kissed him softly. He kissed me back just as softly and gently. He let his lips trail down my throat. I let out a soft sigh. I slid my hands underneath his shirt. He quickly got undressed. I slipped my underwear off and eased myself down on him, straddling him again. He gently pushed up into me. I began slowly thrusting my hips. Sam kept his hands on my pelvis. He wrapped his arms around me and shifted so that he was sitting up and I was sitting on his lap with my ankles wrapped around his waist. He kept his arms around me, pulling me against him as he matched my thrusts. I let my head fall back, exposing my throat to him. He kissed my throat and clavicle. His thrusts quickened and were deep. I let out a low cry as I matched his tempo. I felt my climax building up. I could feel his approaching. He kept his face pressed against my throat. After a few more moments, I felt his climax hit. He released it in a hard frenzy. My own body responded immediately after that. I let out a low cry of pleasure. I relaxed against him, breathing hard. My chin rested on his bare shoulder. My arms were wrapped around him tightly. I could feel his heart beat rapid in his chest against mine, matching my heart rate. His chin was resting on my shoulder. “I love you so much Liz,” he whispered, his breath tickling my ear. I smiled and closed my eyes. “I love you too Sam,” I whispered in his ear. I pressed my left cheek against his. I inhaled his familiar, safe scent. We held each other for a bit longer before we realized we were late for work. I quickly showered washing the remaining mud and dirt from my body. I pulled on my now dry uniform. I left my hair down and it fluffed around my shoulders in soft waves. I waited for Sam to get dressed and hopped in the shower after I came out. He pulled on a fresh pair of jeans and a black button down shirt. He drove me to work in his two door Jeep. Sookie immediately rushed over and enveloped me in a tight hug. I was a little confused as to why she had hugged me. Sookie released me and then grabbed Sam, doing the same. He looked at me with a questioning expression. I could tell he too was confused. He gave Sookie a hug back before she released him. “Sook, what’s going on? Why the hugs?” Sam asked her. Sookie had tears in her eyes. “They found two bodies near the lake. A man and a woman. They looked an awful lot like you two. Their bodies were destroyed. Their throats torn out,” AUTHORS NOTE: PLEASE READ AND REVIEW! THANKS!
