The silence that follows her surprised utterance is nearly tangible. Not-Godfrey is still staring at her with that look of shock on his boyish face, while she is uncertain about the expression that Eric wears. She doesn't dare to turn around to find out, her gaze firmly set on Kyrios. The Ancient Greek is still smirking, hazel eyes twinkling with his amusement.
"I am afraid that you did not say that aloud, Sookie. You projected it into our minds, no doubt due to your new circumstances." Kyrios gives her a meaningful look, one that says that she should not reveal that she is now a full-blooded fae. Not yet at least.
Sookie is left stunned by that information because this is completely new territory for her. A highly dangerous territory that is leagues beyond what is the norm for her.
Her senses tingle slightly as Eric moves from where he stands behind her over to where Not-Godfrey is in a blur that she finds she is able to easily track. The former Viking eyes her with wary suspicion, his mouth set into a hard line. He is angry, understandably so.
"Curb your anger towards my ward, fledgling. She meant no insult to you and your maker," Kyrios chides as he turns his attention to Eric. The effect is immediate, Eric literally crumples under his gaze while Not-Godfrey stands resolutely at his side. "Her situation is a complicated one and she comes from a place where you had a different maker. A different time and reality that she can no longer return to."
"Forgive me, Lord, for my haste," Eric says in a tone that is not unlike begging from where he is prostrated on the floor.
"No," Sookie interjects and put her hands on her hips. "I'm sorry for offending you and your maker, Eric. I know how sacred vampires hold their blood and their bonds, and I shouldn't have assumed that things would be the same as I remember them." She gives a slight shake of her head now and turns to face Kyrios. "There's a lot we need to go over, and even if a lot of what I remember turns out differently there should be someone else who knows. If there is anyone I know I can trust, it's Eric. He is loyal, smart, and willing to do anything to protect those important to him."
"You are most kind, Miss Sookie, and your description of my progeny is an accurate one for all you knew of him in your time. It delights me that he is so unchanged for you," Not-Godfrey voices with a smile as Eric slowly rises up to a kneeling position. "And I believe an introduction is in order. My name is Godric."
"And I insist that I be called by my name, which is Kyrios, not that silly title," the daywalker adds, his gaze flicking to Godric and Eric. "Even if that is what my name originally translates to in English."
"As you wish, Kyrios," Godric responds with a bemused smile as the tension among them dissipates. "Let's take this to the living room so we can make ourselves more comfortable," he adds with a subtle glance towards Sookie.
"I shall go get some refreshments for our guests," Eric states quickly and in a flash, he rises up and disappears from the foyer.
"I'm afraid we don't have anything to offer you beyond water, Miss Sookie," Godric explains apologetically as he leads the fae and daywalker into the living room. He flicks on the overhead light, which casts a low, warm glow onto the sparsely furnished area. "And that we are woefully unprepared to host you."
"The fault is mine for the inconvenience," Kyrios interjects conversationally as he motions for Sookie to take a seat on the sole armchair. "We could have come later on, but I believe that time is of the essence and plans need to be made in congruence with what my ward has to reveal regardless of whether any of it will come to pass."
"You sound quite happy to be such an inconvenience," Eric quips as he appears from the kitchen with a glass of water for Sookie and nothing for Kyrios. "My apologies, Kyrios, but we are out of donor blood at the moment." The lie easily rolls off of his tongue as he gives the much older vampire a rather unapologetic smile. He ignores the curt look of silent reprimand that Godric shoots him and offers the glass to Sookie with a much more sincere smile directed at her.
"Understandable, Sheriff Northman," Kyrios responds with a benign and knowing smirk, to which Godric gives a barely audible sigh of exasperation. "We should take care of my check-in before my ward begins with her explanations," he adds while Sookie accepts the glass with a polite-yet-awkward smile.
Eric's expression sours slightly for a brief second but very quickly shifts to calm and stoic with a whispered word of reprimand from Godric that Sookie doesn't quite catch. "This way please, Kyrios," the Sheriff announces dully and blurs out of the living room to conduct the check-in procedure.
Sookie stares down at her water for the span of a couple of heartbeats as Kyrios also blurs out of the room, leaving her with just Godric's company. She is vaguely aware of him moving, at a much more sedate pace that is likely for her own benefit, and glances up at him as he sits down on the couch that is across from her own seat. "It must have been quite a shock to hear that Eric had someone else for a maker in a different reality." She wants to kick herself as soon as the words leave her mouth, especially because of the way Godric frowns and seems to hunch in on himself. "I'm so-"
"There's no need to apologize, Miss Sookie. I'm merely trying to reconcile the fact that the vampire you knew as Eric's maker shares the same exact name as my own." Godric's voice is gentle despite the darkened expression on his face. "A difficult thing to do when the Appius of my memories was quite a monster, so much so that I gave him the final death."
That explains the shock he had exhibited with the accidental projection of her thoughts and the sudden shift in his demeanor. Knowing full well just how depraved anyone, let alone a vampire could be, it is easy to imagine why Godric is so upset with the idea that the one who had mistreated him so terribly had been Eric's maker in a different dimension. It would have been as if she had arrived here to find that Uncle Bartlett had replaced her Gran. While that idea itself is both horrible and revolting, it is just that, an idea. It couldn't even begin to compare to the anguish Godric had to be feeling knowing that the vampire who had created him, had done things horrible enough that it led to his True Death, had been Eric's maker in some other dimension. It didn't matter that the Appius she had known was drastically different.
"I know I shouldn't be so upset over this, that my Eric is not the exact same as the Eric you knew…"
"To you, he will always be your progeny, and you, his maker." It is an attempt to comfort Godric, pitiful as it is, and for a split second, she swears that the corners of his mouth do indeed turn upwards as he lifts his gaze to hers.
"You shouldn't use words that you don't understand." Eric blurs back into the living room and over to the couch where Godric is sitting. He practically oozes concern for the much younger appearing vampire as he stands off to the side of the couch and fixes a rather stern gaze on Sookie.
"You have a lot of love for each other," Sookie states without even considering her choice of words.
"Don't use words that I don't understand," the Viking responds tersely.
Sookie very nearly rolls her eyes at the typical response that suggests that vampires are far removed from emotion which is contradicted by Eric's behavior. "You mean everything to each other." She can't simplify her words any further, and if Eric objects to this, then now it would just be pure obstinance on his part.
"I think she understands perfectly," Godric comments amusedly while Eric just scowls at her. "What exactly are you to have such an excellent understanding of our kind? You smell mortal."
Well, color her shocked, because she is quite certain that Kyrios has stated that she is one hundred percent Fae now. If anything, her scent should be driving Godric and Eric insane, yet she hasn't even thought about it at all up until now. "I…"
"That would be my doing," Kyrios helpfully supplies as he appears to literally step out of the shadows. "A necessary precaution for Sookie's safety, I assure you." He seems entirely too smug as he gives both Godric and Eric a very pointed look.
Eric seems to bristle while Godric looks at her thoughtfully, his head just slightly tilting to one side as he scrutinizes her carefully. A look of genuine interest blossoms on his face as he seems to reach a conclusion about her, but he makes no move to speak on it.
"What is she?" Eric is none too happy to be kept out of the loop, and despite the displeased look, he throws her way he makes no attempt to glamour the answer out of her.
She briefly wonders if he would do such a thing if Kyrios isn't present, and then wonders if the Ancient Greek vampire will be able to tell if someone is being glamoured in front of him. Maybe so, but now she is also curious as to how he is keeping them from being able to smell her. Is it possible that he is, in some way, glamouring them? As far as she knows it isn't possible, yet here they are with Godric and Eric not being able to smell what she truly is. "How are you doing that?" She asks, letting Eric's question remain unanswered for the moment.
"Complete hypnosis would be one way to describe it," Kyrios explains smugly, without really answering her question. Well, it is an answer, and she hasn't clarified that she wants to know how he is affecting the other vampires. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he is on a completely different level, as he had explained, in part, earlier.
"If my suspicions are correct then I believe it is for the best," Godric intones softly, his mouth curling into an amused smile while Eric looks absolutely scandalized. "And if my suspicions are correct then I would very much like to offer my own protection to Miss Sookie."
The offer makes Eric jolt slightly, a look of shock quickly flitting across his face as he turns to look at Godric, while Kyrios gives him a considering look. "And what about your duties as Sheriff to your Area in Texas?"
"I can resign," Godric supplies with a slight shrug of his shoulders, as though it is not a very big deal.
"You don't have to do all of that for me, Godric. You hardly even know me," Sookie tries to reason. She doesn't necessarily want to turn his offer down, because she feels like she can trust him as much as she trusts Eric, but she also doesn't want him to have to give anything up for it either.
"While that might be so, it is what I would like to do," Godric counters in a kindly tone as he shifts his gaze back to Sookie. "Will you accept my offer of protection, Miss Sookie?"
Sookie frowns slightly and sits up straight as she considers the offer. She knows better than to blindly accept it without knowing what it will entail, no matter how good his intentions might be. "Will it require a blood exchange or a blood bond?" She asks tentatively.
Godric blinks slightly in surprise at her question before giving a shake of his head. "No, I will not require a blood exchange or a blood bond for my protection, Miss Sookie. I take it that you have some experience with those since you are asking about them?"
Relief washes through Sookie at Godric's answer and she gives a small dip of her head in response to his question. "I do," she answers with no intention of giving the details behind those certain experiences just yet. It's not because of how involved she was with the Eric of where she's from but because she wants to start with the beginning when Bill had shown up at Merlotte's. "And, yes, I will accept your offer of protection, Godric."
