Summary: After a brutal attack by the Magog on a planet belonging to the restored Commonwealth, Dylan Hunt decides to get rid of the Magog threat once and for all. Trance has a plan.
Episode 31: Revelations
The senshi, save for the new one, Dylan, Beka, and Harper watched as the ships landed. They tensed, unsure of what to expect.
The larger swarm ship landed and a group of Magog marched out, forming lines along the entrance to the ship. This confused the senshi as Magog generally swarmed out and began slaughtering everything in their path. These ones stood neatly at attention, waiting for something. When the last Magog had filed out, the ones from the smaller swarm ships disembarked, waiting expectantly behind their brethren, weapons at the ready.
A tall, dark skinned man walked out of the larger swarm ship and looked around. His black hair was long, falling past his shoulders and done into several tiny braids. He was wearing a dark brown leather vest and a pair of black pants. The tops of his boots were tucked under the long pant legs. He gazed at them all, crossing his arms over his chest to reveal a set of Nietzschean bone blades surrounded by black leather gauntlets.
“Tyr Anasazi,” Terazed hissed. “You’re supposed to be dead.”
Tyr looked at him quizzically. “Do I know you?”
“In a sense, yes.”
The Guardians looked at each other. “So this is what was coming?” StarFire asked, amused. “Another Nietzschean. My pardon to your fearsome race, but this has to be some kind of joke.”
“Don’t be so light about this, StarFire,” the black and white senshi warned her. “He’s more dangerous than you think. I’ve seen him before, seen what he’s capable of.”
Tyr gave her a knowing look. “You’re one of those annoying senshi, aren’t you? What is your name again? Ah. Yes. Sailor Nomaie, I believe it was. As I recall, your parents were a particularly annoying nuisance to my forces.” He looked at the faces before him. “Good to see you alive again, Dylan. Beka. Harper. Where’s Trance?”
“Right in front of you,” Vedra said, stepping forward.
“Ah! Things make a little more sense.” He looked at Beka appraisingly. “I must say I’ve missed you, Beka. You refused my offer before, but I must make it again. Come with me. Be with me and rule the universe at my side.”
“I don’t think so, Tyr, sorry. You see, I’m not too fond of the ‘take over the universe using despicable evil creatures’ type of man anymore,” Beka replied, shrugging.
Nomaie Kamen snapped his fingers. “Note to self: don’t create an army of monsters and take over the galaxy to impress her.”
Beka punched him in the shoulder. “You’d best not.”
Tyr laughed. “You’re involved with a senshi? How sad. When I’m through, the senshi won’t exist anymore. You’ll live just long enough to regret your decision.”
Meanwhile, StarFire and Terazed were staring at the new senshi, Sailor Nomaie. So that was why she hadn’t revealed her name. She was Nomaien, possibly descended from StarFire herself, her elder sister Hihana, or Nomaie Kamen. Unsure why he was doing it, Terazed walked over to her and put one hand on her shoulder. “So that’s who you are,” he said softly. “You could have told us. We would have understood.”
“You understand nothing,” she told him.
“She’s right, you know,” Tyr agreed. “You can’t understand, not with the little knowledge you have. I’ve figured out who you are, Telemachus Rhade.” He grinned. “Yes, that’s right. That’s who you are. You and those annoying brats of yours have caused my army much grief.”
“Brats?” Terazed paused. “Children? My children? As in plural.” He looked at StarFire. “Some help here?”
She shook her head. “Don’t look at me. They couldn’t have been ours. Female senshi only have one child. Singular. End of story. That’s just the way things are.”
“Which means that either something happened to you, or that you, for some reason, allowed me to have another wife even after our conversation on that subject.”
An amused look crossed Tyr’s face. “It really doesn’t matter, as you’re all going to die, but before I kill you, I want to know where the woman once known as Valkyrie Museveni is. She was rescued from Earth by a group of unknown people. I have to assume that it was you people, as you’re the only ones with an interest in that backwater mud ball.”
“Hey! Ana-sleazy! That backwater mud ball is my home!” Harper yelled. “Don’t you go making fun of it.”
“Tell me where she is and I’ll make your deaths quick and painless. Refuse me, and I’ll make you wish you’d never been born.”
“I have to say that as far as villains go, you’re a little too clichéd for even my tastes,” StarFire drawled. “Come on! This is just too much. I may expire just listening to you. Just tell me that you won’t start monologueing on us.”
“Clichéd am I? Maybe if I kill one of your friends you’ll take me seriously.” He looked at Terazed and grinned. “Maybe I’ll start with Rhade.”
She stepped in front of his, crouching into a defensive position. “You’ll have to go through me first.”
“Is that so?” he asked, walking towards her. “What do you care about him anyways? If I’m correct, you’re one of those pesky Guardians, the Nomaien one if I’m not mistaken. Your kind has no particular love for men.”
“Be that as it may, we do still occasionally take men as mates. How else do you explain the continued existence of my race? Besides, I don’t need to explain myself to a member of an artificially created race.”
“That hits a little close to home,” Terazed said with a hurt look on his face.
“I wasn’t talking to you, Rhade,” StarFire retorted.
“Senshi also don’t take kindly to someone threatening to kill one of their own,” StarSinger told him bluntly, joining StarFire. “Even if she hated his guts, she’d defend him.”
“How sad is that?” Starlight said, shaking her head.
“I don’t think your opinion was asked for,” StarFire snapped.
Tyr laughed. “This is really pathetic. You’ve caused me enough troubles for one life time.” He pulled out a long tube of metal that looked almost like a force lance. He jerked it and a long whip-like cord came out of one end. It sparked and sizzled with energy. “It’s time to end your lives, senshi.” He lashed the energy whip out at StarFire. She brought her arms up in front of her face to protect it, but her arms bore the brunt of the attack. The whip left a charred line across both arms as it burned right through the black leather of her gloves.
“You’ll pay for that! Aries Flaming Disk!” She threw the burning circles at Tyr, but he dodged easily. She looked stunned.
“Surprised?” he leered. “You’re not strong enough to stop me. Not yet.”
“I hate to break it to you all, but he’s right,” Sailor Nomaie said, shaking her head. “He’s like Vedra and me: from the future. He’s stronger than we are.”
“Not stronger than all of us,” Aries said, coming up into the group. Spotting Sailor Nomaie, she nodded and smiled. “I saw your message. Sorry that it took so long for me to get here.”
“Just transform and help me out here, will you?” Nomaie insisted.
Aries looked reluctant. “If I do, you know we’ll be in trouble, right?”
“They already know my name, Aries. Let me put it to you this way. If they die, all we’ve worked for will be for nothing.”
She closed her eyes. “It seems that we have little choice then.” She raised her arm in the air and a thin gold bracelet appeared around her wrist. “Terazed Crystal Power, Make Up!” A vortex of red and black energy surrounded her, revealing a red sailor collar that was elongated into a short cape, a gold corset-like bodice that laced up the back with a long black ribbon, black shorts, and red knee-high high heeled boots. Around her eyes was a black mask with a red stud in the middle. “You’re not going to get away with this, Anasazi. I, Sailor Terazed, decree this to be so.”
“You won’t be decreeing anything once I’m done with you,” he sneered, raising his energy whip to strike at her.”
“Terazed Gorgeous Laser!” she shouted and a shower of red and black lasers smashed into Tyr’s hand. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the one that was holding the whip. In pain, Tyr retaliated, lashing out at her with the weapon.
Terazed Kamen looked from the screaming young woman that had called herself by the same name he went by to the other senshi. Sailor Nomaie was running towards Tyr to stop the attack but the others were frozen, still stunned by Aries’s revelation. He moved to stand in front of the young woman.
“What kind of a Nietzschean would attack children?” he demanded.
“You see, Rhade, these aren’t my children; therefore, I don’t care if they live or die, especially not since they’ve been such a thorn in my side.” “That’s a rotten thing to say,” Vedra reprimanded him. “Vedra Solar Flare!” The attack hit Tyr but didn’t seem to affect him at all.
“Weak,” he sneered. “All of your time as a senshi and that’s the best you can do? Pathetic. You haven’t changed at all, Trance.”
“What I lack in power strength I make up in other areas, Tyr. You of all people should know that.”
Dylan and Beka exchanged a look. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Vedra shook her head. “It’s not important right now.”
“No, it’s not,” Tyr agreed right before he gestured with his hand. An invisible force knocked Vedra away. “Play time’s over children.” He walked towards Sailor Terazed. “Move out of the way Rhade. It’s time for the brat to die.”
“No.”
Tyr stopped right in front of Terazed Kamen. “No?”
“You heard me. No. I don’t know just who she is, but she’s somehow connected to me if I understand how this senshi thing works correctly. I will not let you harm her!” The silver bracelet set with a single large piece of onyx that he wore around his wrist flared and he glowed in a bright reddish aura. A look of profound calm came over his face as his uniform changed from a black and white tuxedo to something completely different. He still wore a cape, but it was deep red instead and lined in gold colored fabric. It was pinned to his high collard, long sleeved shirt with black oval shaped broaches. His shirt was black with gold piping on the collar and sleeves and his pants were red. His shoes remained the same, but the gloves and mask were gone. He blinked and looked down at himself. “That’s odd…”
“Not really,” Sailor Terazed said from behind him. “It just means that your power has increased and your uniform has adjusted accordingly.”
“I didn’t know that this happened.”
She shrugged. “Well, it does.”
He looked back at Tyr. “I say again, you’re not going to hurt her.”
Tyr looked unimpressed. “A new uniform isn’t going to help you. The one you wear in the future is much more impressive and it did you no good. This certainly won’t make much of a difference.”
“I’m not exactly alone here, Anasazi.”
“You weren’t alone in the future either. That bitch of a wife of yours was there, too.”
A realization dawned on the two new senshi. “You were the one who did that to her,” Sailor Nomaie said slowly. “You put her in a coma.”
“I’d meant to kill her.” Tyr shrugged. “It matters little, as she’s still dying; only more slowly than I’d intended her to.” He looked at Rhade and grinned. “Where is she Rhade? Where is your darling wife, the one who was once known as Valkyrie Museveni?”
StarFire took a deep breath and walked over to him. “That would be me, asshole. Take a good look because it’s the last one you’ll ever get.”
“You can’t possibly be a reborn Nietzschean,” Tyr scoffed. “You’re not even human let alone Nietzschean!”
“That’s why it’s called reincarnation, Tyr; new body, new life. Besides, Nomaiens and Nietzscheans are very similar on a genetic level. And how do you explain how I have Valkyrie’s memories and how Telemachus is starting to recover his memories as Gaheris? This isn’t just genetic reincarnation, you twit. Do yourself a favor and do some research before you make plans to do stuff.”
Tyr looked ready to break something. “That’s not possible. You can’t be her.”
“Guess again, smart ass,” she snarled as she rushed forward, lashing out in a fury of blows that made every member of the male gender present flinch in sympathetic pain. “I wouldn’t claim to be a member of your sad excuse for a race if it wasn’t true. I’m proud of my Nomaien heritage.”
Tyr backed out of range of her attacks. “So then you’re that girl the Drago-Kazov captured on Earth?”
“Captured and then mutilated until I looked like one of you,” she snarled back in a voice filled with pain.
The revelation stunned the others. “Did she just say what I think she just said?” Dylan asked StarSinger.
“She’s a lot of things, but she’d not given to exaggerations of this magnitude,” Singer said in a muted voice. “Why didn’t you tell us?”
“How could I have?” she asked as tears poured from her eyes. “I couldn’t bear the shame of what I had become.”
“That’s why you had to go back to Nomaie,” StarLight concluded. “The source of all of this is what was done to you on Earth during a recon mission that you shouldn’t have even been on in the first place.”
“I think I’m finally beginning to understand,” Rhade said softly as Tyr scored a hit to StarFire’s jaw. She collapsed to the ground, crumpling like a paper doll. “Everything makes perfect sense now.” He narrowed his eyes. “Get away from her, Anasazi.”
Tyr laughed. “Make me.”
The bracelet on his wrist winked angrily. “You asked for it. Energy Storm!” A wave of writhing red energy rushed towards Tyr, smashing him in the chest. He staggered back a few feet. That was enough of an opening for Terazed to rush forward, pick StarFire up, and move back. “Kasei? Are you alright?”
She looked up at him. “I’m fine. Put me down.” He set her down on her feet.
“So that’s why you wouldn’t tell me what happened, why you wouldn’t talk about it.”
“I’d really rather not have this talk right now. As you can see, we’re a little busy at the moment.”
“Fair enough.”
Tyr laughed again. “If you think that will be enough to stop me, chosen avatar of the abyss, you are sadly mistaken.”
“I didn’t intend it to stop you,” Rhade explained. “I simply intended to move you backwards a little bit.”
“Glad to see that there’s some intelligence left in your head. There is no one here who can stop me.”
StarLight looked up, an idea crossing her mind. “You know what Tyr, I think you’re right.”
“Beg your pardon?” Beka asked her incredulously.
“There is no one person here who can take him on. How fortunate that there are many of us here.”
A sly grin spread across the faces of each of the senshi as they looked at each other and then at Tyr. StarLove stepped forward. “By our powers combined?” she asked, looking at her froends.
“If anyone here even thinks about making another Captain Planet reference, I’ll cause that person a large amount of pain,” StarLight said, shaking her head. Seeing the looks on the faces of the new senshi, Tyr, and the Andromeda’s crew, she shook her head. “Never mind.”
“Early 90s pop culture references are pretty much going to fall flat here,” StarSinger told her unnecessarily.
The Guardians along with Nomaie Kamen formed up around StarFire. “Shall we?” Nomaie Kamen asked, extending his hand to his sister.
She took it, extending her hand out to StarSinger. They all linked hands and looked at Tyr. “Say goodbye, servant of evil,” StarFire said. “Fire Elemental Power!”
“Water Elemental Power!”
“Earth Elemental Power!”
“Air Elemental Power!”
“Nomaie Planet Power!
Terazed Kamen walked up and took Nomaie Kamen’s hand since he couldn’t take StarFire’s. “Terazed Star Power!”
Sailor Terazed took his hand, smiling. Sailor Nomaie took her other hand. “Terazed Crystal Power!”
“Nomaie Crystal Power!”
“Vedra Solar Power!” Sailor Vedra said as she took Sailor Nomaie’s hand.
All of the senshi glowed in their auras, presenting Tyr with a united front. He looked at them blandly, waiting to see what they’d do. The Guardians began to change as Terazed’s had done, bleaching from black to white. The thin silver belts were now wide black ones, still set with a single gemstone in the center. Instead of having different styles of tops, their uniforms were now identical save for the colored highlights and gemstones. Their boots had vanished entirely and they were now barefoot with a single band of color around each foot.
StarFire’s hair went from black to red-orange and her eyes became a solid scarlet color. The red from her previous uniform was present in the trim, armband, gemstone, and foot bands. StarSinger’s hair was now sea green as were her solidly colored eyes. Dark cyan was now her color. StarLight had dark green hair, eyes, and her color remained as leaf green. StarLove’s hair turned light blue, as did her eyes. The pale sky blue color that she’d sported before was now teal.
“Care to do the honors, StarFire?” Sailor Nomaie asked. “The Drago-Kazov Pride did what they did to you on his orders.”
She nodded, her aura flaring. “Supreme Phoenix Cleansing!”
From the sky above streaked a massive red bird made entirely of flames. It screamed as it dove, the feathers from its tail sending off sparks. They watched as it crashed into Tyr, turning him into a pillar of fire. The Magog standing around them howled in rage. Seeing that their leader had been reduced to ashes, they turned on the senshi. The attack didn’t last long.
A bright light shone through them, reducing them to smaller piles of ash. It lasted until they were all dead. When it cleared, two figures could be seen standing not too far away from where the senshi were. One was clearly Nietzschean and the other clearly not and both of them looked familiar and yet different.
The Nietzschean was an older version of Telemachus Rhade with slightly different hair. The Van Dyke his younger self sported had become a full out goatee and his hair was cut a little shorter. He wore a thigh length black high-collared jacket over loose black pants. His bone blades poked through the sleeves. Attached to the shoulders of the jacket was a long black cape with a red lining. His hands were gloved. In his left hand, he carried a small, crowned scepter made of silver. He looked around him warily. Seeing that there were no more Magog, he relaxed and smiled and the people he saw in front of him.
The woman beside him bore a superficial resemblance to Kasei. She looked fuller of life and energy than anyone could recall seeing in the Kasei they knew. She carried herself erect and proud, holding a taller and more elaborate version of the staff that the man beside her held. Her hair was black and intricately braided. She wore a long red strapless dress that hugged her figure in the front. It was gathered a little at the back to form a train. Around her neck was a thick gold collar set with red and black stones. She wore elbow length red gloves. Around her arm was a double helix that was identical to the one that StarFire wore. She looked at those in front of her calmly.
Sailor Vedra, Nomaie Kamen, StarSinger, StarLove, and StarLight all fell to their knees, bowing in respect while StarFire and Terazed Kamen remained standing. Sailors Terazed and Nomaie ran forward. “Mother! Father!” they shouted.
The couple opened their arms as their children came forward. “It’s alright now,” the man said in Rhade’s familiar voice as Sailor Nomaie collapsed against his chest. “Everything is alright again.”
Sailor Terazed hugged the woman tightly. “I never thought that I’d see you again.”
She shook her head. “I missed you, too, Aries. It was so frustrating to be trapped in my own body and to be unable to free myself. I’m very proud of you. Both of you,” she added looking at the other girl.
“We had some help there,” Nomaie admitted. “The senshi of this time period are just like in the stories.”
“I think we’d best explain to the others,” the older Rhade said, looking amused. “They look a little lost.”
Nomaie and Terazed returned to their civilian forms and turned to look back at their friends. “Everyone, this is my sister, Yoake Wadjet Rhade. I am Yoake Aries Rhade. These are our parents, Yoake Telemachus Rhade and Yoake Kasei, King and Queen of Nomaie.”
“I gave up my claim to the throne!” StarFire protested.
Her future self looked at her calmly. “There are many things still to happen in your life that will influence the future.” She smiled and shook her head. “Trust me. I’ve been through it all. It’s hard, it’s painful, but everything is worth it in the end. You know we can’t give you any details.”
“Yeah, I know how time travel works,” StarFire said ruefully. “I also know that you two can’t stay here long; otherwise you risk destroying yourselves as well as me and Rhade.”
Kasei nodded and looked at Dylan. “Thank you for taking care of my daughter, Dylan.”
“We both appreciate it,” Rhade added. He looked at his younger self. “Take care of yourself, Telemachus. Things are going to get very interesting from here on in.”
“I can’t see how they can get more interesting than they already are,” he replied. The royal couple exchanged a look and a brief laugh. “How little they know, Kasei,” Rhade said to his wife.
“Let them figure it out for themselves the way we did.”
“Oh let’s hope that they don’t,” Vedra said, rolling her eyes. “We don’t need a repeat of the current situation.”
“Things are bound to be different now, Trance,” Aries told her. “It took them less time to form a solid relationship than it did for my parents to. I think the future is looking very bright.”
“How much pushing did you have to do, Aries?” Rhade asked her.
“I didn’t do anything!” she protested. “Not really. Just said a few things that were kind of vague.”
“Good,” he said approvingly. “Are you two ready to go home?” The girls both nodded. “Very well. Say your good byes, then.”
“Wait!” StarFire shouted. “I have to know something, Kasei.”
“What’s that?”
“Tyr mentioned that Rhade had children. Plural. But we both know that I can only have one child, a daughter. How does that work?”
“We have two children, both daughters. Twins, if you really need to know. Wadjet and Aries. You’ll know which is which when the time comes.”
The twin girls said their goodbyes and went back to their waiting parents. They waved a final goodbye and walked away, vanishing into a portal generated by the two scepters.
