Clark walked outside with Kara .
Chloe , and Martha where sitting on the swing.
“ Vesta came running up the stairs .
“ Daddy I let the snake go, but I really wanted to keep it”.
Shelby’s ear perked up , and he took off running .
“ He must see a rabbit out in the field”, said Clark looking out toward the open land .
The rough current of the river was pounding a burlap sack against the rocks .
Shelby leap into the frigid water ,and swam catching up to the sack .
“ Daddy Shelby must be having fun chasing that rabbit” .
“ Yeah he must be” .
A second later he sees Shelby running across the field with something in his mouth .
Shelby comes dashing up on the front porch .
“ Daddy look its a puppy.”
Chloe takes the puppy from Shelby’s mouth.
“ It’s a girl .
“ Chloe let me hold her”.
Clark looked down at Vesta holding the puppy.
“ How can someone be that heartless to want to drown a innocent puppy”.
“ I’ll take her to the animal shelter in town tomorrow’.
“ Daddy can I keep her?"
Shes a mutt , and nobody will want her”.
“ Sweetheart a puppy is a big responsibly for a six year old”.
“ Daddy I already help Nana with the horses, and the cows , and I also help with Shelby”.
She raised the puppy up.
“ Daddy you can’t say no to a face like this” .
Clark looked at the puppy.
“ Okay but Vesta you know she’ll have to stay out side” .
“ She looks like she has German Shepherd in her”.
“ I’m going to name her Acheron”.
“ Why Acheron?“ ,asked Chloe .
“ Shelby found her in the river , and mommy been teaching me a little about Greek Mythology”.
“ She told me my name is after a Roman Goddess”.
Kara looked at Vesta .
“ Your daddy is right you're going to have a lot of responsibility taking care of Acheron”.
Vesta jumped off the bottom step, and headed out toward the barn”.
Martha looked at Clark.
“ You know you have to get her fixed”.
“ I know we don’t want any little Shelby running around here”.
“ I better get started on building Acheron a dog house”.
Chloe , Martha , and Kara went back inside the house.
Clark walked out in the barn.
“ Vesta come here”.

“ Your going to help me build Acheron a dog house”.
“ Daddy Chloe painted my nails this morning , and I don’t want to mess them up”.
He took his truck keys out of his pocket”.
“ I guess I’m just going to have to take her to the Shelter.”

“ I’ll get Chloe to do them over again”.
He jingled the keys in front of her .
“ Are you sure?”
She struggles Acheron against her chest.
“ I’m sure”.
“ Okay put her down”.
“ Shelby will watch after her while we build the dog house” .
He looks around the barn .
“ Princess go tell nana I need some nails” .

Vesta ran in the house, “ Nana daddy , and I need some nails”.
“ There in a small metal box on the kitchen counter”.
Kara looked over at Martha.
“ He is really good with her” .
“ Yeah he could easily build Acheron’s dog house by himself” .
“ I got them , said Vesta dashing out the backdoor”.

“ Okay your going to learn how to build a dog house”.
He started to take the measurement , so he could cut the wood.
“ Okay I want you to hold the tape measure down for me”.
“ Daddy can I hammer some of the nails?”
“ No but you can hand me one when I need it”.
“ Your mother would have a fit if I let you hammer a nail, and you hit one of your fingers” .
She looked up at him.
“ She probably tie you up like she did when she was possess by Isabol."
He stopped hammering.

“ I heard you , and Chloe talking about it one night”.
