They sit on the couch and stare at each other. Alex is waiting for the walls to melt, for the spots to glow, for some repeat performance of her college waltze with LSD.
Bobby's vision is slightly softer, a tiny edge of blur to it. Now she knows why he gets so close to everything.
He leans over and kisses her quickly on the lips. It's gentle.
'I've always wanted to,' he says.
'Kiss yourself?' she asks.
'No. Be a woman, kissing a man.'
It's new, startling, slightly narcissitic and she figures they are high anyway. It therefore makes sense.
