Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hospital, Stephen King does. I make no profit from this, it is just fan-fiction written for amusement. Only Samantha and Jason are mine, as is the plot. |
Samantha waited for what seemed hours for Paul to come back, but finally after waiting for what was probably the sixth hour inside of her own body, she couldn't take it anymore. Slowly she pushed the door of the slab open and slid herself out. Ew, last time I'm spending any amount of time in a dead body. Where the hell is Paul that ass hole, he said he'd be back soon. Liar. She looked at her body for what she hoped would be the last time before she turned around. Suddenly there was a flash of light and she was no longer in the same morgue.
She glanced around, trying to make sense of the cobwebs and skulls that littered the room and stopped short when she saw the bodies of two writhing people, the man had black hair and glasses, the blonde woman was significantly older. (You know who they are :D) "EWW, you have to do that here?!" Samantha screeched. Immediately the couple shot apart, their shocked gazes finding her. "Holy shit, Elmer you perve you brought someone else in?" The blonde groaned looking towards the man. "No Lona I swear! I didn't bring her-" He stopped himself mid-sentence. "Wait I know you." Elmer's eyes widened greatly. "You know her, so you must have brought her in." Lona snapped. "No I didn't, this is that girl that I told you about, the girl that died on Hook's table this morning... She was attacked by an animal where she worked, remember?" Elmer quickly defended himself.
The blonde's face turned ghost white as she stared at Samantha. "She's d-dead? Does that mean WE'RE DEAD?!" Lona started to panic causing Elmer to pull his gaze from Samantha to her. "No we're not dead, this is a dream, I probably did pull her in here from my subconscious. It's all a dream. You remember how we wanted to get out of here? Let's try it." Elmer comforted the blonde, having completely forgotten about the black haired girl in the room. Lona groaned before bringing her mouth back to his. Oh for f- I'm out of here. Rude bastards. Samantha rolled her eyes, then stepped through the door on the opposite side of the room. She was back in the hallways of the dead world. How did I end up back here? One second I was in the morgue with my body, the next I'm back in purgatory. Oh well, might as well see if I can find someone who's not out to kill me.
She yet again began to roam the halls, opening and closing doors. Each room was either too dark to see, filled with a floor full of bugs or was completely pitch black. She'd even come across Paul's tank at one stage, but the maniacle prat was nowhere to be found. Pulling open another door she came upon a room with nothing but a bar stool with a brown toy bear that had a large tear down its stomach. She slowly stepped towards it, her eyes darting from corner to corner, checking for any signs of Anubis. Reaching out, she brought the bear to her. The fur of the stuffed animal softer than anything she'd ever felt. She gasped as her surroundings changed yet again she was in a small room with a wide window across the wall that was boarded shut. The walls were cracked and the paint was peeling and the room smelled strongly. (You can guess what it smells like and let's just say it's not pleasant.) She could make out the figure of a small child in a corner, his back facing her. She leaned over his shoulder glancing at what he was clinging to. He was clutching a small bear almost identical to the one that she was holding, save for the gash across its stomach being missing. Who is he? And what does he have to do with me?
She was still trying to figure out who he was when the door to the room slammed open. A short and fat man came storming into the room, his hair greying in some parts and black in the other, he smelled strongly of whiskey. He looked remarkably familiar to her. "PAUL! What do you think you're doing with that stupid bear again!" The boy jumped with a start his face stricken with horror. Samantha's thoughts immediately clicked together. The boy had bright green eyes, curled black hair and was wearing a torn white shirt. There was hardly any weight on the boy. This must be Paul's memory. He was so small. "I-I was just playing with it father." Paul stammered.
"Just playing with it? Who do you think you are you cocky little shit? Let's see you play with it now!" With an angry roar the older man shot across the room, tearing the bear out of the boys hands. "NO! LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Both the young Paul's and Samantha's voices rang out. Paul desperately tried to pull the bear out of his father's hands but was pushed away by the stronger man. Samantha wrapped her arms around the small child as he watched with horror as the man he called father pulled out a claw of an animal and tore straight through the fabric of the toy. "NO! PLEASE, NO!" The small child sobbed in Samantha's arms, though he didn't know she was there. "Play with it now you brat. Just wait a few years and you'll be going away, short timer and I'll never have to see you again." With that the man threw the bear at the weeping child and slammed the door, causing one of the boards on the window to come loose.
"Teddy!" The young Paul threw himself at his companion, sobbing deeply. "Please be okay! It'll be okay Teddy, I promise! Please just be okay..." The child broke down his hair covering his face as his shoulders shook. Samantha felt tears run in torrents down her cheeks at the sight of the small boy's pain. His head turned slightly towards the window as he took notice for the first time that there was some light coming through the crack in the boards. He stood hesitantly and clutching his toy, pulled himself to the glass. His eyes closed for a moment at the sudden shock of light, then re-opened. "Look Teddy, it's snowing, look how pretty it all is." He held his friend up to the window, his tiny hands barely holding in the toy's stuffing. "I promise one day I'm gonna get us out of here and we're gonna play in the snow." Paul's tears stopped as he found a his new resolve, that was when he started laughing hysterically.
She turned away from the boy and walked through the wall following his scum-bag father. She caught view of his short hide and quickly caught up with him. There was something different about him though where there should have been grey there was only black hair. She turned the corner and saw a horrifying sight. The man went through a metamorphasis right before her eyes, where the father once was, stood a man that was all too familiar to her, straight, jet black hair shot from the head of the god of death, Paul's real father lay unconscious at his feet. Anubis!
It was then that she was sucked out of the memory. "That poor boy. No wonder he is the way he is." She was still clutching the aged bear. She turned back towards the way she came, thoughts endlessly running through her head of the green eyed teen, when suddenly she heard a great beastly roar. Her eyes widened before she ran towards the door of the room almost completely slamming it shut. She peeked through the crack of the door to see Paul running past with Anubis hot on his heels in his anteater form. What is that bastard trying to do to him?! She jerked open the door following the two men as they went through wall after wall.
She finally came through the wall that would lead to where Paul was lying on the ground a semi-human Anubis that had his claws out crouching over him. "WHERE IS SHE?!" Anubis roared at Paul. "I don't have her." Was the teen's curt reply. A mixture of screams and laughter burst from Paul as Anubis tore his claws through Paul's stomach, his claws seeming to burn Paul from the inside. Seeing this caused Samantha to snap she burst forward tearing the god of death away from his victim. Anubis rolled across the floor before glaring angrily at his attacker. The anger fell from his face as soon as he saw who it was.
"Samantha," Anubis purred at her. "I was just looking for you, wherever did you get off to?" He started moving closer to her but she only inched away towards Paul. "I got lost and found someone I knew." She stood between him and Paul. "And why are you defending this waste of afterlife?" Anubis gestured to the man lying on the ground. "When you should be with Mary and myself. Come Samantha, she's waiting for us." His now human hand reached out to her. "No." She slapped his hand away.
Anubis' eyes widened before narrowing in anger. "No?" He started towards her again. "I know what you did to him." And me. She silently added, he didn't take notice of her thoughts. He did however notice what she was clutching in her left hand. 'Ah the bear. That brings back memories. However I didn't put anything in that urchin's head or make him do anything. I merely watched as he acted to make sure that nothing would divert him from his path. I know that you don't really believe that I'm the bad one. I know how you truly feel about me. It's only a matter of time before you accept me and what I can offer you. Come with me.' Anubis' voice invaded her head, his hand made contact with her arm, starting to wrap around her bicep.
"Stay away!" She snarled, her hand sending him flying backwards with an electric blue flash. He lay there in a crumpled heap for a few seconds before his eyes shot open. "You will be with me soon enough Samantha. There is no amount of power that will keep you from your destiny. Or from me." With a snarl he turned and transformed into his anteater form leaving the two ghosts alone. Samantha huffed and then brought her attention back to Paul. To her astonishment he was sitting up and glaring at her. "Where did you get that bear?"
Muahahaha cliffhanger. Hope you enjoyed this chapter, this was one of the hardest/easiest chapters to write. Please review. xMelaniex
