Blood Oath
Alright, now you guys finally get to see a thing or two from Blaine's side.
Enjoy!
Okay, so Blaine might have overdone it that night.
To be completely fair though, he hadn't tried to mingle with humans (at least, ones who didn't know what he was) in a good decade or so.
Still, had he known Kurt's alcohol tolerance was this bad, he would have found some other way to talk to the boy.
At the moment, he was helping him inside, since the poor kid could barely stand on his own, and once they made it to the living room, he turned to leave.
He hadn't even planned on talking to Kurt today. He was only watching to make sure that he was okay. But the brunette looked so sad sitting there all alone, and his resolve to wait a couple more years before approaching the teenager had crumbled.
Kurt was shy, something he hadn't really expected, to be honest. While observing him in public settings, he always seemed to confident and cocky about himself. It must have been a bravado, the human clearly wasn't comfortable with just being himself.
It was kind of sad.
He will admit that he was a little annoyed with those friends of Kurt's, taking him there and leaving him for the entire night, then expecting him to get home alone.
If Blaine wasn't there, who knew what kind of animals the boy could have encountered? The vampire had seen it numerous times, what humans were capable of. There was no way he could have just left him there to fend for himself, it would have been like leaving him in a lion's den.
Looking around, he saw that the house appeared much lonelier than the last time he had been there, which had been nearly sixteen years ago to visit Kurt in his cradle.
It was obvious that the death of his father had left the boy heartbroken.
But Blaine had meant what he said about taking the time to heal. Humans were much more resilient than they looked, and they could recover from many things if given the opportunity.
Still, he couldn't deny that speaking to Kurt face-to-face made the protectiveness he felt for the boy impossibly more overwhelming.
He snapped out of thoughts when he heard the boy's musical voice speak up, albeit a little sluggishly, "A-Are you...leaving?"
Goddamnit. The vampire nearly winced at the fact he sounded hurt. The bond was there already. Kurt didn't want him to go, and he didn't want to go, to be honest. He made his decision to stay based on the fact that Kurt would need someone to take care of him in the morning, because if he was this drunk from two shots and a watered down glass of liquor, he would definitely be feeling the effects by the time the sun came up.
Turning around, he smiled at the boy as though it were the most natural thing to him, "Not if you want me to stay."
Even completely off his ass, the kid still managed to look absolutely adorable. He lowered his eyes, biting his lower lip for a moment. "I... I don't want to be alone." He confessed.
Walking over to join Kurt on the couch, he took his hand and squeezed it reassuringly, not missing the way he tensed. He must have felt the spark of electricity too.
"No one wants to be alone, Kurt. Not all of the time. It's human nature." He smiled wryly at the thought that he of all people was telling a teenager what was and wasn't natural. "Everyone wants to fit in and being accepted, it's the way we are." He hoped the word 'we' didn't sound as funny coming out of his mouth as it felt.
Unfortunately, he might have been a little rusty with social interaction, because it completely slipped his mind how those words just might come across to the boy. Because it was natural for humans, especially teenagers, to want to belong, but it had been so long since Blaine had been one of them that he didn't think of how Kurt would feel about himself, and his own differences.
Kurt stared ahead silently, and Blaine's dead heart constricted almost painfully when he saw the teen's eyes fill with tears. Instinctively, he reached his free hand up to brush them away, not missing how the teenager caught his breath, and they stared at one another.
"I-I want to be..." He whispered, "But it's never going to happen. I'm not normal."
"What is even considered normal in this day and age, Kurt?" Blaine questioned, wanting that lost look to go away, just like in the bar.
"That doesn't matter. I'm just... not like other people." Kurt said sadly, looking down at his lap. "No one is ever going to want me, not the way I am now."
"But I do." Blaine thought, wishing he could just tell him, but it was too soon. He didn't want to scare his young, very human mate, He was lucky that the alarms hadn't already gone off in the kid's head, but that might have just been because he was intoxicated.
"I can't wait until I can get out of here." He seemed to be more or less talking to himself at this point. "When I get to New York, I won't be judged on how I look or talk or dress, just on how talented I am. A-And no one will ever know what I am when I get the surgery..."
Shock ran through the vampire, and as gently as he could without hurting him, he turned Kurt's head so they were looking directly at one another, "What surgery?" his voice might have come across a little harsher than he intended, but that was because the very careful restraints he had put on his darker, more...animalistic half were barely holding together.
Not seeming upset by the sudden close contact or Blaine's rather intrusive question, Kurt answered immediately, "The one I can get when I turn eighteen, to make me normal." He did wish he didn't have to cut up and scar his body with something like surgery to be accepted, but if that's what it took, so be it! There was no one around to convince him of otherwise now, like his father used to do.
"Kurt." The older boy was looking down at him with a surprisingly tight expression, like he was angry. "You don't need a surgery to be accepted. You're perfect just the way you are."
"Right." The teenager scoffed, pulling away from Blaine, who was struggling to keep his cool. But the thought of some 21st century doctor drugging his mate, taking his clothes off and mutiliating him was really testing his self-control.
Taking a deep breath, Blaine forced himself to stay as calm as he could, "I mean it, Kurt. You don't need it. Someday, you'll find someone who loves you and accepts you for exactly who you are now, inside and out. Love is unconditional, it isn't based on appearances." Right, and what did Blaine really know about love? He had three people in his entire life that he ever really cared about. One died, one had left him, and the latest one hated himself because of something he had no choice over.
More tears. The vampire just couldn't seem to do anything right this evening. It was obvious that the boy still didn't believe him.
He couldn't let him go on like this, it was horrible to see just how little the brunette thought of himself, just because he happened to be a little different from everyone else. "Hey, look at me." He slid his hand under the teen's chin, tilting his head back so he could look into those pretty, watery blue eyes.
Silent for a few seconds, Blaine weighed his options. Things weren't going according to plan, but screw it, plans changed.
Without another word, the raven-haired man leaned down and pressed his lips against Kurt's.
Kurt was shocked.
Here Blaine was, sitting on his couch, kissing him. A part of him felt that the man was just trying to convince him he wasn't completely unwantable, but the moment the contact was made it didn't matter.
Sparks seemed to jolt through his own body, and it was nothing like he had felt before. This never happened when he had kissed Brittany. In fact, this had never happened to him at all.
Against his better judgement, he didn't shove this practically-a-stranger away from him. He couldn't tell if it was the alcohol intoxication, or the fact that the loneliness had been building up inside of him for years, even with the friends he had now, but he suddenly wanted this. The contact, the feeling that somebody, anybody could see him the way he had always dreamed of.
He kissed Blaine back.
It was strange, at first, since he really didn't know what he was doing, just sort of moving his lips uncertainly against Blaine's, but luckily it seemed the older boy did have some idea.
The raven-haired teen wrapped an arm around his waist, drawing him closer as a smooth, cool tongue flicked out against his bottom lip, eliciting a startled gasp. He didn't protest or pull away when it slipped into his mouth though. In fact, the flood of warmth he felt made him moan, very quietly, against those lips as he instinctively gripped Blaine's shoulders, feeling the glossy leather beneath his fingertips.
When it became obvious that the other wasn't going to pull back for air any time soon, Kurt did, panting as he rested his head against Blaine's arm, a bit dazed. "That...was nice." He spoke softly, his brain felt foggier than it had before, and it was definitely the kiss that did it.
"Mm." Blaine merely hummed in agreement, gently running a hand through the boy's chestnut hair, and he was honestly too out of it to care all that much. "Poor thing, you look like you're going to pass out."
"Feel it..." He mumbled with a half nod, and to his surprise the older teenager suddenly scooped him up, bridal style, "I should probably put you to bed before you do."
Even though there was nothing suggestive about the way he said it, Kurt still blushed at his words, but he was too tired to protest being carried. Instead, he closed his eyes, sleepily, putting his head on Blaine's shoulder, drifting off rather quickly.
Blaine was quiet, thoughtful, as he put the boy down in his bed, curling the blankets around him so he wouldn't get cold during the night.
He hadn't intended to leave, as he knew someone would have to take care of Kurt, but it still startled him when the boy spoke up, already half-asleep, "Don't go...please?" He reached out blindly, almost panicked, to grab at the vampire's sleeve.
A small smile worked its' way on to Blaine's face, and he found himself nodding, "Okay. I'll stay." But Kurt kept tugging, indicating he wanted the darker-haired man to lay down next to him.
Hesiating for a moment, Blaine decided it couldn't hurt anymore than anything else that night had. He slid in beside the brunette, feeling unusually warm and human when the teenager snuggled up to him affectionatly, their bodies pressed together.
Was this...cuddling?
As amusing as the idea was, it somehow didn't bother him.
"I'm not going anywhere." He told the boy gently, combing his fingers soothing through Kurt's hair until he heard his breathing even out, his heartbeat slowing down as he finally fell asleep.
It felt strange, holding a slumbering human in his arms. Blaine didn't need rest, certainly not in the traditional sense, but he felt almost comfortably mortal at the moment, so he closed his eyes and allowed his mind to wander as he breathed in the sweet scent of Kurt.
This was everything he had wanted for more than four hundred years, so he was going to enjoy this night, as he had no idea what would happen when the boy woke up in the morning.
But he had been asked to stay, and he would.
He would stay with with his mate as long as he was wanted, he wouldn't leave until then.
Thoughts? I know, you're probably disappointed by the lack of sexiness in chapter four, believe me, I am too! I wanted to write some smut, honestly, but something tells me Kurt wouldn't want it like that - with someone he barely knows while he's half conscious.
Don't worry though, there'll be plenty of Klaine tomorrow, because hangovers are evil and need fluff to take care of them, and maybe in number 5 we can get a little more fun. I promise I'll update this story later today, but it's early and I'm goin' back to bed. Laters!
