AN: Here’s chapter 5! Enjoy and please review. The song is Forever and
For Always by Shania Twain. Thanks to everyone for all the reviews. And
to the anonymous reviewer, Silent Shadow. To answer your question, the
plot twists haven’t happened yet. This story is not written in its entirety so
not even I know how it will end up since I am writing this one as I go. I’m
sorry you don’t like the story...I truly am. If you don’t like it, then maybe you
should stop reading.
Captive
Chapter 5
Astronema stood upon a balcony in front of her monstrous army.
“When we’re finished, there will be no good, no happiness, no love. Only
chaos, greed, anger! Fight strong and destroy all the forces of goodness,
especially the power rangers,” Astronema spoke. The minions cheered and
prepared for their mission.
“Go now and spread the wrath of Dark Spector!” Astronema ordered.

“This is the biggest battle yet,” Sprocket squeaked.
“Prepare for the battle of the century!” Mondo announced, as he released
his cogs and Quadra fighters in hoards.

Divatox cackled, as her takeover of Aquitar was coming along nicely. The
Aquitian rangers were fighting hard, but were nearly defeated.

Astronema entered the bridge, only to be bothered by Elgar.
“Princess, I have Rita and Zedd on the line,” Elgar said.
“We don’t need your plan, we...have our own!” Zedd argued.
“Yeah!” Rita agreed.
“You will follow orders,” Astronema stated.
“Who put you in charge?!” Rita spat.
“Dark Spector himself,” Astronema answered.
“Ah...well, we love your plan. But princess, please allow us to take our
putties and Tengus to wreck havoc on the earth,” Zedd replied. Astronema
growled. She was so sick of their whining.
“If it will get you to shut up, then very well. Now get going!” Astronema
ordered, as she turned to a covered tube. She pulled the sheet off to reveal
Zordon. The bottom half of his energy tube was filled with a rising orange
glow, indicating that his energy was being drained.
“Well Zordon, it looks like your energy will soon be drained,” Astronema
said.
“YOU WILL NEVER GET AWAY WITH THIS ASTRONEMA,” Zordon
replied.
“I already have. You have a front row seat to the end of your era. And
beginning of mine,”

Kat and I arrived at the youth center only to find Zack in the middle of a hip
hop keedo routine on the dance floor. It’s nice to see that some things
never change.
“Now we can get this party started!” Zack said.
“Billy, my main brain, I’m gonna borrow your beautiful lady for a dance. It’s
a rule that all the ranger ladies have to dance with the Zackman,” Zack
said. Jason and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes. Kat accepted
his invitation onto the dance floor, while I continued to talk to Jason.
“It’s nice to see that Zack hasn’t changed a bit,” I said.
“You’re not kidding, guess who we ran into today,” Jason replied.
“Who?” I asked.
“Angela,” he replied.
“Let me guess, Zack bent over backwards to impress her,” I said
knowingly.
“Oh yeah, until she told him she was engaged,” Jason laughed. I could
only imagine the look of disappointment on Zack’s face.
“He’ll find the right girl someday. After all, we have,” I mentioned. Jason
smiled, as gazed over at Trini who was with Kim.
Kim’s POV
“This is so much fun. But aren’t we missing someone?” Trini asked.
“Aisha’s not here. She’s still in Africa, but in her last letter she said there’s
a possibility she could be coming home in about a year,” I replied. A soft
song began to play and everyone found their partners. I found my way to
Tommy and led me out onto the dance floor. Rocky and Zack got some
punch and began a conversation, being the single guys in the group.

Trini’s POV
“If you would have told me a few years ago that Jason and I would fall in
love, I would have probably scoffed. We’ve known each other since we
were five and I never thought we would be more than friends. But the time
that we spent together during the peace conference changed that. The
three of us developed a strong bond and Jason and I grew closer. I smiled
at him, as his lips drew closer to mine and we were lost in the kiss.

Billy’s POV
Kat rested her head on my shoulder. I breathed in the scent of her
shampoo as we danced. I gazed down at her lovingly, thinking that I had to
be the luckiest guy in the world. She lifted her head and I pressed my
forehead to hers. She brushed my lips with hers and I deepened it,
passionately exploring her mouth with my own.

Tommy’s POV

“So how long until Olympic trials?” I asked.
“Well, they’re not till next spring in 2000. But when I go back, I’ll start
training for the upcoming World Championships. After that, I have a little
over a month off before I have to begin training again. If I make it, then I’m
off to the Sydney 2000 Olympics,” Kim replied.
“Wow, that’s where Kat’s from originally. If you make it, which you will, we
should all plan a little vacation,” I said.
“Great idea, we’ll have to run it by Billy and Kat later,” she replied.

Billy’s POV
Suddenly, the youth center began to shake.
“What’s going on?” Kat cried, as I held her tightly, trying to keep us on our
feet.
“I’m not sure, let’s check it out!” I called, as we made our way outside.
What we saw made our blood run cold. Velocifighters, numbering in the
hundreds, were descending upon Angel Grove and the Earth.
Chaos was the only word I could think of as we ran through the streets of
Angel Grove. People were frantically running in all directions and panic
was everywhere. The attack was so fast and unexpected that the monster
alert alarm didn’t even have time to sound, warning people to take shelter.
Not that it would matter much though. With an attack of this magnitude,
there wasn’t many places anyone could hide. However, like a ray of hope,
the space rangers glided overhead and began fighting off the hoards of
minions that were everywhere. Never in any of our ranger days had their
been such an invasion of mass proportions and I knew that the rangers
would be overwhelmed by the massive numbers.
“It would be best if we all stay together, no splitting up,” Tommy
announced, falling into leader mode naturally.
“Tommy’s right, let’s fight our way to the center of the city. Help whoever
we can and hopefully find some sort of shelter,” Jason echoed.
“Right, if we stick together, we have less of a chance of being captured.
They seem to be rounding up people. We don’t want to get separated from
each other,” I said, as I clutched Kat’s hand in my own. Jason and Tommy
nodded, as they led the way into the heart of the city. I looked around at
the burning debris around us with a feeling of helplessness. We covered
our heads as a strange debris floated down to earth from above.
“KARONE, NOW THAT DARK SPECTOR IS GONE, YOU CAN BREAK
HIS CONTROL. ARE YOU SO FULL OF EVIL THAT YOU WILL
DESTROY YOUR OWN PLANET,” Zordon coaxed. The chip on her
forehead began to malfunction, but she resisted again.
“I am not just evil, I am the queen of evil!” she announced, as she prepared
to go down to earth.

“Psst...hey Tommy,” T.J. said, as he spotted the group of former rangers.
“Hey guys, this way! It’s T.J.,” Tommy called.
“Are you guys okay?” Billy asked, knowing that they had been severally
outnumbered.
“We got our asses kicked, but we’re still in one piece for the most part,”
Carlos said.
“Where’s Andros?” Jason asked. The others looked at each other.
“He went to infiltrate Astronema’s ship. He thinks that he can still save his
sister and Zordon too,” Ashley answered. Suddenly, they heard Astronema
as she spoke to the people of Angel Grove.
“People of the earth, it is your time to surrender. The power rangers aren’t
going to save you. They’ve already tried and they failed! The rangers are
among you. Bring them to me by tomorrow morning, or I’ll destroy you all.
It’s either them or you!” she threatened.
“I pleaded with him not to go. Karone is gone, she’s not his sister
anymore,” Zhane said sadly.
“If there’s a chance that she’s still in there, then he had to go. I understand
where he’s coming from,” Tommy said.
“I agree. She may be evil, but it’s not entirely her fault,” I said speaking up.
“We should head into the heart of the city where the other people are.
When Astronema shows up tomorrow, we’re going to need to be there to
protect them,” T.J. said. We all agreed and trekked further into downtown.
The sun set and we found a place to camp for the night. I pulled Kat close,
as we all huddled around the fire.
“Man, we’ve been in some scrapes before, but this one takes the cake,”
Rocky said.
“Yeah, I hope Zordon’s okay. Andros too,” Jason said.
“I’m sure you’ll be interested to know that Astronema has nearly drained all
of Zordon’s energy,” an unwelcome voice said. We all looked up, only to
see Zedd and Rita towering over us.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Tommy said.
“Watching you miserable humans wallow in your defeat. Tomorrow, your
planet will fall. And even if it’s not to me, it will still be a pleasure watching
you finally bow to the forces of evil,” Zedd replied.
“We will never bow to you or Astronema,” I shot back. Zedd laughed evilly.
“We’ll see rangers. Enjoy your last night of freedom together. Tomorrow we
shall meet again and you will be defeated,” Zedd said, as he and Rita
disappeared.

Morning came quickly, as no one got much sleep on the hard ground. We
gathered with other people, as Astronema made herself known.
“Where are the rangers?!” she demanded. Everyone was silent and we all
exchanged glances. She hollered again and no one responded.
“Fine, then you’ll all die!” she screamed, as she prepared to fire into the
crowd.
“Stop!” Tommy yelled suddenly.
“We’re the power rangers,” Jason announced, as the ten of us stepped
forward.
“You’re not the current ranger team that I am looking for,” Astronema
replied.
“You asked for the power rangers and you got them,” Jason shot back.
“Once a ranger, always a ranger,” Trini added.
“We won’t bow to you,”Zack shouted.
“The human spirit is not so easily defeated,” Adam stated.
“You want the earth? Then you’ll have to go through us!” Tanya yelled.
“If you want the earth, then you’re in for one hell of a fight!” Rocky added.
“The forces of good will always prevail!” Kim called.
“We will never let evil reign on Earth!” Kat called.
“Powers or not, we are a force to be reckoned with,” Tommy stated
“And powers or not, we will not be so easily defeated!” I finished.
“Where are the space rangers?!! If they do not show themselves, I will
exterminate the human race starting with all of you!” Astronema
threatened.
Amazingly, the people around us began to rally to the cause. Some were
even calling out claiming to be rangers as well.
“Fine, I’ll destroy all of you!” Astronema said, as she aimed her staff. But
again, someone stopped her.
“Wait! We are the power rangers!” T.J. said.
“Let’s Rocket!” Zhane called.
“Pink!” Cassie announced.
“Black!” Carlos called.
“Yellow!” Ashley called.
“Blue!” T.J. announced.
“Silver!” Zhane called. After that, her minions seemed to pour down on us.
We fought alongside the rangers, as did most of the other people who
could.

Andros’ POV
I crept into a dimly lit room.
“Andros” Zordon said.
“Zordon!” I exclaimed.
“YES ANDROS, WE DO NOT HAVE MUCH TIME. THE UNIVERSE IS IN
GREAT DANGER,” Zordon said.
“They’re attacking everywhere,” I said.
“YES, BUT I HAVE A WAY TO STOP IT,” Zordon said.
“How?” I asked.
“SHATTER MY ENERGY TUBE. ONLY THE GOOD ENERGY IN MY
TUBE CAN CLEANSE THE UNIVERSE OF THE EVIL THAT INVADES
IT,” Zordon said.
“But what will happen to you?” I asked.
“I WILL BE GONE. BUT THE UNIVERSE WILL BE SAFE,” Zordon said.
“I can’t kill you Zordon,” I replied.
“You must Andros,” he replied. I clutched my spiral saber and prepared to
swing at the tube. But how could I? I couldn’t kill Zordon.
“I can’t,” I said.
“Then let me do it for you!” Astronema said, as she took a swing at me. I
blocked her and began to fight. Reluctantly, I fought my brainwashed
sister. She tripped me and prepared to blast me. But I moved in time and
reflected the blast back at her. It hit and sent her to the ground collapsing.
No, I hadn’t meant to do that! I didn’t mean to hit her!
“No, Karone!” I cried.
“What have you done?! Your own sister!” Ecliptor screamed.
“ANDROS, YOU MUST DO IT NOW!” Zordon demanded. With a pain sob,
I brought myself to my feet.
“Goodbye Zordon,” I said softly, as I swung my spiral saber and shattered
the tube. A wave of gold erupted, turning Ecliptor to dust. But the wave
began to spread beyond the ship. I cradled my sister in my arms and
prepared to dock her ship on earth...

AN: Hope you liked it! In the next chapter, the former rangers mourn their
mentor, but begin to move forward with their lives. Zedd and Rita also react
to Zordon’s sacrifice and their new bodies. All this and more in chapter 6!
