Chapter Three
Chapter Three
The State Dinner went without a hitch. Hawke was in total awe of Kristien, she was graceful and a true princess. Every single person in the room, from all the security agents to the President looked at her, hanging off her every word when she spoke. Not only did she do her speech without help from private secretaries who knew about world affairs, she did it from memory and she quoted various things. She was simply stunning. As Hawke sat listening to the various speeches he kept looking at Kristien on the top table, she was his. How in the world he had managed to deserve such a beautiful and graceful woman he did not know.
Air Force One took off leaving Kristien’s Estate behind. Kristien refused the limousine ride back up to the house despite being in her beautiful ball gown, she had got used to being in it and actually enjoyed it, not that she would admit it to anyone. Carsten and Redwood walked beside her, both dressed in their tailored dinner jackets. They had both, once Air Force One had taken off, undid their bowties which limply hung around their necks, their top buttons also open. They escorted her back to the Lodge where she and Hawke would probably get passionate and spend the whole night making love.
Back inside the lodge Kristien went in looking for Hawke. She had lost him for about an hour previous with the protocol of everything. She went to her bedroom which she shared with Hawke. Kristien was about to throw herself on the bed when she noticed a white card on the bedside table. Kristien picked it up and it had a beautiful K written on it in perfect calligraphy. Kristien removed her gloves and put them on the table and opened up the card. The card had again the beautiful handwriting on it.
“To the woman who captured my heart,
Go to where knowledge can part,
Look at where the world should be
Then of course you can find me.” Kristien read the card out aloud. Kristien intrigued by the treasure hunt decided not to change out of the gown that had practically been sewn onto her. Not that she could get out of it by herself anyway. She picked up the gloves and the card and wandered out of the lodge.
Kristien walked over to the main house and she was joined by Carsten.
“I thought you had retired for the night.” He told her.
“Stringfellow is still up at the house, so I will find him.” Kristien replied.
Up at the main house Kristien went direct to the Library. As a small child Kristien spent days and weeks in the Library, reading each section. She looked around at the vast room, adorned ceiling to floor with books, thousands of them on two levels. She fondly remembered every book she had read. She scanned the room.
“Look at where the world should be.” She recited and remembered up at the far bay window was an atlas globe, made in the fifteen hundreds, just as all the great seafarers had started to map the ‘new world’. She walked over the aged atlas globe. “Hmm so what am I looking for?” Kristien mused to herself.
On the other side of the globe was a small teddy bear, dressed as a professor complete with a mortar board and gold rimmed glasses holding a diploma scroll. Next to this was a crystal glass of champagne with a strawberry.
“Oh are you who I need to find.” She picked up the teddy. “Well then, Ted let’s have a look at what you are holding.” Kristien carefully removed the scroll and carefully unrolled it. She took the glass of champagne and took a sip. “Someone has opened the sixty nine.” She stated to the teddy bear.
“Your quest is halfway there,
Bring along your teddy bear,
Come to where the sun goes down,
Look out from Capability Brown.” Kristien read the beautiful calligraphy out aloud.
She downed the champagne in one, more with thirst and picked up the strawberry and started to nibble on it, savouring the lasting taste of the champagne on her tongue. “Come on then Ted, off we go!” Kristien noted that she was again heading back in the direction of the lodge again. The lake had a beautiful bridge built by Capability Brown. As she exited the house Carsten was already waiting.
“So are you in on this?” Kristien asked him.
“In on what?” Carsten lied hiding his eyes behind the dark sunglasses. “I just spoke to Alfred and he said that Hawke wasn’t here, so I guessed you would be wandering out again.”
Kristien looked directly at her body guard who avoided her gaze, but she did catch him looking at her. Kristien ignored him.
Kristien wandered over on the bridge taking in the setting sun, the pinks and the reds in the sky promising a beautiful end to the wonderful day. There leaning up was another Teddy bear, this one dressed as a pilot, complete with a leather cap and goggles and scarf! Kristien smiled and looked at the professor teddy that she had already. Kristien gently squatted down and picked up the Pilot teddy and she introduced the two teddy’s to each other and then held them together. They were pretty cute. Even as a small child Kristien did have one teddy, but preferred the company of two small ponies and a dog and then when she was around two years old the staff made the fatal mistake of allowing her to ride one of the thoroughbreds, that was it for her. One of the stallions was added to her collection of friends and nothing anyone could do would stop her and to top it all four animals just followed the small child all of the time around the estate. The stallion also used to lay down so that Kristien could clamber on and ride round bare back and without any bridle or saddle. From that Stallion Kristien bred her own stallion that carried on the same traits as it’s sire. What ever gift she had with animals, the same gift where she could feel what Hawke was thinking, feeling on a daily basis.
“Well now you don’t seem to have a flight plan with you.” Kristien checked the pilot teddy’s jacket. Kristien stood up and turned to walk off the bridge, thinking that the treasure hunt was over. There stood Special Agent Redwood, holding her black Andalusian stallion stood patiently tacked up in a side saddle, he also held his horse. Seeing her horses and it had a side saddle too made Kristien beam, she hadn’t ridden for five days, God did she miss her riding. Special Agent Tom Redwood said nothing as he held the horse next to the stone steps at the bottom of the bridge, Alfred also appeared. Kristien walked towards the men. Alfred held out his hand whilst Kristien walked up the steps, he then held onto her dress as she sat onto the saddle and arranged her legs over the saddle. Alfred carefully placed the full dress over the horse’s hindquarters, the ivory white and the pearls and the diamonds looking striking against the jet black of the horse’s coat. Alfred smiled at the beautiful sight that was in front of him. Kristien placed both of the teddy’s in the leather pannier at the front of the saddle. Kristien continued her smile as she and Redwood rode off around the lake.
Kristien followed Redwood around the sandy shores. The Andalusian had one speed, a very comfortable canter. The Spanish used these impressive horses for war, they were strong, intelligent and exceptionally brave. Totally different in build and character to the Thoroughbreds that Kristien bred and raced. Kristien did have other breeds around to ‘play’ with especially if she saw a good example of a breed she would buy it and add it to her collection.
Around the far side of the lake was a wooden ‘band stand’ probably built for Victorian picnics on the estate in times of poor weather. Redwood dismounted and waited for Kristien. She rode over and saw another envelope taped to the wooden post. The horse halted and she reached over and picked it from the post. Kristien swung her right leg from the pommel and Redwood held out his arms and held on to Kristien’s waist as she dismounted. Redwood got both the teddy’s from the pannier at the front and handed them to Kristien. He walked away with both of the horses leaving her by herself to open the card.
“And thus the words were spoken,
And this the plighted vow,
And, though my faith be broken,
And, though my heart be broken,
Here is a ring, as token
That I am happy now!” Kristien read out and as she did she recognised the work immediately. “Edgar Allan Poe the bridal ballard, okay next stop the church.”
Kristien spoke and thought about that she did not have an engagement ring. Perhaps this is what he is up to, giving me my engagement ring here. Kristien smiled, thinking back to all the romantic things that Hawke had done for her, taking her to Venice, a night in Paris, flying her to places so remote and beautiful that they would never appear on any tourist map.
Kristien still had no idea as to where ultimately the treasure hunt was taking her. All she knew was that certainly Alfred and Redwood were in on what ever Hawke had planned. Despite Hawke’s aloofness and coldness towards women before, deep down hid an idealist romantic. Kristien had discovered this when she lived with him at the Cabin for twelve months. Although fiercely independent, Kristien accepted Hawke to open doors for her, to do all the heavy lifting and lots of other things. Back then he did not know that she was a Princess and a Duchess, he just knew she was extremely wealthy and bred racehorses and was very, very clever.
Hawke often planned impromptu picnics, weekends away in Airwolf, away from the estate, being alone with Kristien was all he ever wanted. With Alfred’s help Hawke could do anything within the estate to evade the Secret Service, however he had found a friend with Special Agent Redwood and often confided in him what he was going to do. Redwood would often scout the area first and usually deployed a couple of agents covertly. Having Airwolf certainly had it’s advantages.
Kristien walked from the band stand towards the medieval church which had been part of the original estate before the house was built in 1555.
Kristien walked to the private church and looped through the door handle was a single white rose. Kristien picked it and held it to her nose. The scent was aromatic. She opened the huge oak door which was over one thousand years old. As she walked in all the candles were lit making a subtle light in the church. Kristien walked in and walked up the aisle. Stood at the altar was Stringfellow. She noticed that he had changed out of his dinner jacket to a morning suit. Wow she thought, in the dinner jacket he looked like 007 and now in a morning suit, very sophisticated. Kristien got turned on just thinking about Hawke.
As she walked towards him he opened his arms and took her gently in his arms and kissed her passionately. Kristien returned the embrace and allowed Hawke to take charge. The passion that he had started six hours before the State Dinner started to take over both of them.
Dominic and Caitlin walked silently into the church. Dominic coughed behind the young couple hoping it was enough to stop them. Hawke paused realising that he and Kristien would be making love in minutes if they continued with their passion. Normally that would not bother either of them, but he had brought Kristien here for a different purpose.
Kristien giggled hearing Dominic cough to interrupt them.
“You wanted a short engagement.” Hawke reminded her.
Kristien smiled and nodded gently. “Absolutely.” She confirmed remembering her strict conditions to the unexpected marriage proposal from Stringfellow earlier.
“Great.” Hawke told her and he took the two teddy bears from her and on both of them pushed up their jacket and gown’s arms on the teddy’s right and left paws. There under their garments each teddy had a gold ring on their paws.
Kristien stopped breathing. Dominic too felt the panic from her. He looked upwards and said a little prayer. God, please for once, let String have happiness for once in his tragic life, hasn’t he paid enough for the grief you have tested him on, he thought.
Knowing Kristien was inwardly panicking Hawke scooped her up into his arms, holding her tightly preventing her from stepping back and running away. He too was scared. Scared of losing her.
The last eighteen months had been hard for him. Since finding Kristien again after five years of separation, Kristien had sent Hawke back after a couple of months together. This continued during the eighteen months, just as they got settled living together as a couple, Kristien would panic, sending Hawke back to America if Archangel hadn’t found a mission for Hawke to go on. Kristien could not accept that anyone would want her and that they would be safe with her all of the time. This life that she was forced to lead she thought was hard for her let alone anyone else wanting to share it. She had sent him home the first time to think about what he wanted after she had finally given him her life story. Well after eighteen months, he had decided. He wanted her and before God he would vow to look after her, to lay down his life for her if required, such was his affection for her.
Hawke held her for what seemed an eternity. The two of them exchanging their fears silently.
“Stringfellow, please……..” Kristien barely whispered in his ear feeling so scared, so out of her depth.
“Let me.” Hawke whispered gently with tears in his eyes. “You trusted me eight years ago. Trust me now.” He reminded her of the first night that they had spent together.
Kristien remembered that night fondly. The first night she became a woman. The night she gave herself to a man. The only man that had ever touched her, who shared her soul, her heart, her body and her mind. Somehow their destinies were inextricably linked. They shared each others feelings and thoughts. They always knew what each other was feeling, thinking, even when they were separated such was their bond.
Kristien felt Stringfellow’s prerequisite to unite them together before God.
Kristien kissed Stringfellow on the neck. Hawke felt her fear subside. He released his tight hug on her and looked deep into her eyes and just held her gently. His lips gently brushed over her trembling lips.
“Best you give me my teddy then.” Kristien smiled gently just holding her composure.
Blinking back the tears of happiness, Hawke kissed her and held her in an affectionate hug and he looked directly at Dominic. Dominic didn’t know it but he had hardly drawn breath since saying his little prayer. He walked over and took position next to Hawke as his Best Man.
Hawke put Kristien down and looked at her. Good he hadn’t crippled her too much. He gave her the pilot teddy.
“Thank you for trusting me.” Hawke told her.
Alfred entered the Church and organised all the seating arrangements. The estate vicar was happy that finally Kristien was going to be married.
The service was short, not something you would expect with a Princess, but Kristien was not one for big ceremonies. She had inadvertently admitted to Hawke that the State Dinner that she was dressed for would probably be the one and only time she would be dressed in a dress. So taking that information and the fact that she wanted a short engagement, Hawke had performed a minor miracle of organising a wedding on short notice. Alfred stepped in and organised everything that Hawke would need. It was down to Hawke to get Kristien to the Church without her knowing exactly why she was going to go.
Kristien and Stringfellow exchanged vows.
Dominic stood next to Hawke with his eyes watering. He had been a Best Man before but not on such an emotional occasion. Here was Hawke, the Son he never had, finally marrying the woman that he loved and adored.
As they both put the gold rings on each others fingers, everyone in the church gave a sigh of relief. Not one person, apart from Hawke thought for one minute that Kristien would marry ever Hawke or any other man for that matter. Certainly the Secret Service pot of money would have to ride for the next major bet that they would have.
The huge marquee that was attached to the house for the State Dinner had already been set up for the wedding reception. Alfred could always be counted on. The cake was superb. And so was the massive spread of food, from caviar to steaks despite everyone having a sit down meal for the State Dinner, people could be always counted on to eat and be merry. The wine cellar had been opened and Alfred had selected the champagne.
Kristien sat on Hawke’s lap, looking in to his eyes. Both of them wanting to escape the reception, to go and be together to enjoy each others company, to explore being married.
Dominic stood up on the stage next to the full orchestra and took the microphone.
“Can I have everyone’s attention please.” Dominic said.
Everyone paused and turned to face Dominic.
“You know, I have had the pleasure of taking care of the Groom for a very long time. I have seen him grow up from a small child into the man that you see here today, that I am proud to call my friend. We’ve had some tough times, some sad times and some great times like the time that…..” Dominic started to think about which child hood story about Stringfellow he was going to start to tell his captive audience.
Hawke groaned knowing Dominic would spend hours on the microphone retelling all the old stories. “Oh no, this is like throwing gasoline on a flame.” He told Kristien.
Caitlin watched Hawke and Kristien. She could not believe that they had been so patient. After what she and Dominic interrupted in the Church, she was sure that the last place Kristien and Hawke wanted to be was in a marquee full of people, whilst they kept their burning desire, smouldering, desperate to be together.
“Hey Dom, why don’t we toast the Bride and Groom first, then we can start the stories.” Caitlin called out.
“Good idea.” Dominic said. If everyone had a little bit more to drink then he could go on all night about what he and String had been up to over the years as well as how he and String’s Dad fought the second world war.
“Your glasses everyone.” Dominic said. “To the Bride and Groom.”
Everyone raised their glasses to Kristien and Hawke. “The bride and groom.” Everyone said.
“So like I was saying….” Dominic started. Caitlin walked up to the stage and reminded Dominic that really the bride and groom needed to do a dance and then disappear for the night. “Oh yes sure Cait.” Dominic said. “Er, If Kristien and String could take to the dance floor then we can really get this party started.”
“Finally.” Hawke said eagerly thinking ahead to when he could take his bride and consummate the marriage.
Hawke and Kristien stood up and walked to the emptying dance floor. Hawke held Kristien closely hoping that the Orchestra was not going to do the tango or something too fast.
He wasn’t disappointed.
As Hawke moved with Kristien the world, he felt, stood still. As everyone else joined in the slow dance Hawke planned his escape route with Kristien. As they got closer to the edge of the dance floor, Hawke picked Kristien up into his arms and carried her out walking towards the Lodge
Alfred had carefully prepared the huge master bedroom at the Lodge which was now to be Stringfellow’s and Kristien’s. The huge four poster bed was beautiful in white lace with rose petals everywhere in the room. White balloons and teddy bears adorned the room. Specially selected champagne with strawberries were set at the bedside.
As Hawke carried her into their bedroom, he carefully placed her down onto her feet, kissing her passionately, savouring every moment, every taste, every touch from Kristien’s hands on his body. He carefully undid the bodice on the beautiful ball gown that hid the body that he adored. Kristien had already removed Hawke’s shirt allowing her to caress his smooth muscular chest. The gown, now undone, Hawke put his hands on it, pushing it down from Kristien’s waiting body, pushing her Victoria secret underwear off too. Hawke slowly stood up, looking and touching her body as he made his way up.
Hawke undid Kristien’s hair, which fell gently down her naked back. Kristien had already undone Hawke’s trousers which fell to the floor revealing his hard manhood as he picked Kristien up, kissing her passionately, tasting her, his tongue exploring her throat.
He laid her down on the bed. Her tiara was still in place. Hawke carefully removed the diamond tiara and put it on the bedside table. God, was she really his? Finally?
He looked over at Kristien, feasting upon the naked body that awaited him. He looked at her breasts and just above lay the solitaire diamond necklace that he had designed for her to wear. It looked beautiful laid on her trembling skin.
He wanted the night to last forever. Memories of their first night came flooding back. How they had made love five times in the cabin before having to take Airwolf along to Red Star Control where he had lesson two of flying Airwolf. How the day had flown by and returning to his cabin, he had longer to explore every inch of her, showing her what it was like to really fly, floating in the air.
Every time he and Kristien made love from that moment on, each time was different. He loved exploring every inch of her body, the way it responded to his touch. Kristien too, always managed to take Stringfellow to places that he could only dream of going. One thing for sure, once they had reached orgasm together, neither of them could move, such was their level of emotion with each other, sometimes it was even hard to breathe. Now that was an incredible feeling. Kristien, realising that Hawke was reminiscing, savouring the memories, making her burning desire beg for him, allowed her hands to wander to his erect manhood, bringing him back to reality, where her gentle teasing, brought him to the edge, she paused knowing where she had got him. Hawke opened his eyes, God she was a great lover. He rolled on to his back, okay this time he would be submissive and then shortly when they made love again he would take her to a new place of desire.
It was early dawn and Hawke laid looking at Kristien. They had made love four times during their wedding night before both of them drifted off in each others arms for a sleep. Hawke had woken, remembering that it wasn’t a dream that he had actually married Kristien.
“You are staring at me.” Kristien murmured with her eyes still closed.
“I thought you were sleeping, Mrs Hawke.” He whispered, his eyes soaking in her beauty.
Kristien slowly opened her eyes. “Oh yes, about that.” She whispered.
“Sleep or now that you are married to me?” He playfully queried.
“Well, I don’t take your name.” Kristien informed him and she started to allow her hands to gently caress Stringfellow’s body purposely. Hawke’s body responded immediately with desire.
“Really? And who’s name do you take?” Hawke closed his eyes as she teased him gently. His breathing changed to deep and short. His muscular body responding to her gentle loving touch.
“Well no one’s really but you can take one of mine.” Kristien informed him, taking him to the edge. Kristien kissed him hard and full, allowing her tongue to explore his mouth, her hands caressing his body with the lightest of touch. God he was ready to explode and he needed to divert his mind.
“One of yours? Well best you tell me how many you have and I can choose.” Hawke told her trying to concentrate, his hands now exploring her body, his fingers gently inserting inside of her, rubbing her.
“Well you know that I am Kristien Naylor Leyland Duchess of Burghley, and I am Princess Kristien Hamdam of Dubawi.” Kristien told him, now it was her turn to be taken to the edge, she gasped and started to slowly writhe in his hands. “And…….of course you know…….my name…Professor….” Kristien could not finish as she kissed him hard and full unable to lay still and take anymore teasing.
“Best I make love to each and everyone of you then.” Hawke told her, returning the passionate kiss, gently sliding his fingers from her. “Then I can decide.” He rolled his demanding body on to her, taking her fully.
The State Dinner went without a hitch. Hawke was in total awe of Kristien, she was graceful and a true princess. Every single person in the room, from all the security agents to the President looked at her, hanging off her every word when she spoke.
