A lot of pokes but no reviews? I guess that means y'all like it? This story has live!Gabriel and live!John.
“So whatcha done now, John?”
Glaring at his old friend, John brought down the icepack he had been holding to the back of his head.
“Now what makes you think any of this is my fault?” John demanded.
Bobby let out a rough snort.
“Who ya kiddin’, John? I know ya done somethin’. I pull up in here to find ya out cold on the floor with a damn bloody nose and a lump on yer noggin’. Boys gone. The car too. Now fess up,” Bobby scowled.
John glared, but he finally told Bobby what happened. Earlier in the day, Dean had called Bobby up and told him their dad had joined up with them while they were near the same town. A family reunion, of sorts. Bobby, not being far away, had jumped in the truck to come join up with the boys. Dean had gone out to grab food for them while Sam stayed behind with John.
In the short time Dean had been gone, Sam told John something. He told him something big. Something he had refused to accept. They had come to words and John had mistakenly struck his youngest. Barely a minute later, Dean had walked in to Sam crumbled on the floor and John standing over him. The next thing he recalled was Bobby shaking him.
“You’re a damn fool, John Winchester!” Bobby snapped.
John’s head jerked back in surprise.
“I just told you what Sam told me and you–” John started.
“Already knew!”
John’s jaw dropped open.
“YOU WHAT?!” John roared.
Bobby slapped his shotgun down on the table with the gun pointed at John. The man quickly shifted his seat back, despite knowing that Bobby was just as quick to shoot as he was to move away.
“Don’t you give me that attitude, John. Of course, I knew. Who do ya think the boys told first? Sam remembered how ya reacted to him leaving for college. Dean told me they’d been plannin’ to tell ya. Now I’m wishin’ Sam had waited for Dean,” Bobby growled.
John had hit Sam. He would live to regret it. John started to open his mouth, but shut it when Bobby’s heavy hand touched the shotgun.
“So what if the boys are gay? They’re in love.”
John’s blood boiled.
“Bobby, you must be out of your mind! They can’t be in love with –”
“-Angels? John, you gotta get past that. Like it or not, Sam and Dean love – yeah, I said it – those two idjits love their angels. Now if you don’t watch yerself, those boys will walk out of yer life and they ain’t comin’ back.”
A heavy weight suddenly pressed down on his stomach. Could Bobby be right?
/……/
Dean sat at the table with an open, but still full bottle of beer. He sat slumped back in his chair with his gaze on his brother. Despite his large stature, Sam was curled up on the couch with his head resting in his lover’s lap. The angel quietly stared down at the younger hunter while stroking a hand softly through his hair.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he nearly jumped out of his skin when a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind. He relaxed when a light kiss was placed on the sensitive area behind his left ear.
“You ready to talk about it?” a familiar voice whispered in his ear.
The angels had been confused when they had heard a silent prayer earlier in the evening from the older hunter. They had flown immediately to the hunters’ side and found them in a different hotel in a different state than they had last left them. Sam had been clinging to his brother with his face buried in his shirt. When Dean had managed to just barely pry his brother’s face away, the angel and archangel had been startled to find a large bruise marring the hunter’s cheek.
Castiel had stepped forward with his hand outstretched to heal Sam. The younger hunter had startled badly, burrowing deeper into his brother’s hold. The poor angel had frozen in his tracks, shooting his own brother a very confused look. Dean had shot him an apologetic look. He had held his brother until the younger hunter fell asleep in his arms.
Only then was Castiel able to heal Sam. He had gently taken the young man from his brother and laid him down on the couch to rest. This is where they had been for some time now.
“We finally decided. We were gonna tell Dad about us. I guess Sam told him while I was gone. I was only out for a few minutes. I come back and Sam’s on the ground.”
His angel slipped a hand down through his open shirt and stroked lightly across his chest. He shivered as his lover bit gently at his throat.
“I hope you did not let him get away with that,” the angel whispered, a small edge to his voice.
Dean lightly shook his head.
“No. I hit him and he was out. I grabbed Sam and hauled ass out of there. Bobby’s probably with him now.”
Dean closed his eyes with a small moan
Dean glanced over at the couch. He let out a small, almost inaudible gasp.
“Where’s Cas?”
/……/
Hearing a familiar flapping of wings, Bobby looked up from his research. When he spotted Castiel, Bobby swore.
“Balls.”
He swiftly moved to his feet and snagged Castiel’s arm before he could get close to John. Castiel’s eyes flashed at him in warning, but Bobby stood his ground.
“You don’t want to do that, boy,” Bobby told him.
From the couch, John looked up from the book he had been looking through. He hadn’t even heard the young man come in. Either he was getting rusty or something was up with this boy.
“Bobby?”
Bobby grunted. The last place he needed to be standing was between an angel of the Lord and his target.
“John, meet Cas. Castiel. He’s the angel that pulled Dean from Hell and Sam from the cage. He’s the angel seeing Sam.”
If John thought striking his youngest son was a bad idea before, he knew it was a bad idea when he saw Castiel. The figure was short in stature and looked ridiculous in the trench coat. However, the glowing blue eyes were zeroed in on him like a sniper.
“Let him speak, Bobby,” John said, slowly standing to his feet.
Bobby’s head snapped around in surprise. He must have seen something in John’s expression. He released Castiel’s arm and he left to grab himself a beer. John watched him go before turning his attention to the angel.
“How…How’s Sam? How’s my boy?” John asked.
Castiel was silent for a while. John swore the angel was looking right down into his soul and for all he know, he could be doing just that. Finally, he spoke.
“Sam’s mother left him so long ago he has no memory of her voice or even her smile. You have constantly left him alone with his brother. You told him to leave and never come back on one of his happiest days. You have voluntarily walked away from Sam and yet he still loves you. His face is healed, but his heart is not.”
Those words burned through him worse than anything else he had endured in all his years. Despite everything he had done from constantly leaving him alone with his brother to actually striking him, Sam still loved him. His youngest had a heart of gold. That was something he had known all along, but never truly appreciated.
“I’m sorry the way I reacted. I was shocked. I wasn’t prepared for this,” John apologized.
Castiel’s eyebrows knit together in a deep frown.
“It is not in my power, John Winchester, to offer forgiveness. Your fault is with Sam and Dean. I will pass your message on to them,” Castiel said.
John opened his mouth, but was stopped when Castiel was suddenly too close to comfort. A hand found his palm, squeezing hard in obvious warning. John hissed through his teeth. Castiel’s eyes burned bright as they stared deep into him.
“This is the only warning I will give you, John Winchester. Your sons are happy. They make us happy and we make them happy. You do anything to disturb the tranquility we have and my brother and I will end you.”
Suddenly, Castiel was gone and the pain in his hand was registering with him. Bobby chose that moment to come in and hold out a beer to him. John took a huge swig before asking the question he almost dared not ask.
“Who’s his brother?” John asked.
Bobby smiled innocently as he took the beer back from his friend.
“Archangel. Name’s Gabriel.”
It was a wise decision to take the beer as Bobby watched John’s eyes roll back and fall onto the couch in a dead faint.
/……/
“Cas?”
Castiel looked over the top of Sam’s head and over at the other queen sized bed. Dean was lying on his side facing their bed. The angel could clearly see a pair of arms wrapped around the hunter from behind. It didn’t take a genius to know who was in bed with the hunter.
“Yes, Dean?”
“Sammy woke up for a bit. He was asking about you. Where’d you go?” Dean murmured.
“I went to Bobby’s home. I spoke with your father,” Castiel said, calmly.
Dean sucked in a sharp breath. He let it out slowly when the arms around him tightened.
“Above or below?” Dean asked.
Castiel smiled at the hunter.
“Your father is still alive, Dean.”
“Thank Father!”
Dean startled when Gabriel popped his head up onto his shoulder. The archangel flashed a playful smile at his brother before nuzzling into his hunter’s neck.
“Now that that’s over, you can forget about how stupid fathers can be and we can still enjoy our night,” Gabriel teased.
Castiel almost chuckled out loud at how red Dean’s face glowed, especially after his brother thrust his pelvis up against his backside.
“You cut that out! We’re not doing anything with Cas and Sammy in the next bed.”
Gabriel stopped and Castiel suspected something when he saw the smirk playing across the archangel’s face.
“Well, if that’s all it takes, Dean-o,” Gabriel grinned.
Dean’s eyebrows knit down together in confusion. Suddenly, they shot up to his hairline as he registered the meaning of Gabriel’s words.
“No, no, no. Gabriel!”
SNAP. Castiel shook his head as the two disappeared instantly. No doubt his brother stole Dean away to have a more intimate moment between the two of them.
“C…as?”
Castiel looked down to find his lover looking up at him sleepily. Castiel smoothed a light hand over the cheek he had healed earlier.
“Where were you?” Sam mumbled, sliding a hand up to thread fingers with Castiel.
The angel gently squeezed his hand.
“I found your father at Bobby’s. He and I…had a chat,” Castiel explained.
It took a few minutes of silence before Sam spoke again.
“Heaven or Hell?”
Castiel rolled his eyes as he leaned down and buried his face into Sam’s neck.
“What is it with you Winchesters? Am I that scary that you both would think I would kill your father?” Castiel murmured.
“Yes.”
Sam grunted when he felt teeth sink into his neck. His neck was released in favor of a few kitten licks and a small, deep suckling. In an instant, there was another hot body sliding under the sheets and on top of his body. Sam slid his hands up to grasp soft hair as their mouths connected. One thing that always amazed the young hunter was how passionate his angel could be.
Castiel swallowed Sam’s moan with his tongue. Their bodies slid together under the sheets. Passion boiled in their blood as they brought each other off. Castiel pulled off some angel mojo to make Sam come without even going near his erection. Sam returned the favor by making the angel come undone with his mouth. Castiel nearly blew out the hotel windows when Sam sucked him deep down his throat.
Later, after Gabriel brought Dean back, the two hunters slept soundly in their respective beds with their angels watching over them.
