Lost in space, 1970

Doctor Smith had cleaned and pressed his Air Force flight uniform.

“See for yourself, bumpkin” he had said to the B9. “It still fits.”

Smith asked. “How does Major West rate a Verda?”

 “I computed that Major West needed a woman of his own.” Said B9.

“I also computed that the Robinson women needed Major West.”

“And I had currency to burn.”

“Verda was the ideal solution.”

“Cantankerous clod.” He said. “All we needed-“

B9 interrupted doctor Smith repeating “Danger! Danger Doctor Smith!”

“Whatever are you on about?” he asked.

B9 pointed skyward with a polished claw.

An inter-dimensional traveler had materialized ten meters overhead.

Before he could further explain, the slim green form of Athena was visible.

Doctor Smith tried to hide behind the robot, but she adjusted her fall to land before him.

‘Pretty Doctor Smith” she smiled “Come play.”

Smith wanted to flee. But Athena’s race was capable of hypnotic control.

And she already had it over Smith.

He was subdued at the first sight of her spiral pattern eyes.

She led him off to a patch alien heather out of the robot’s sight.

“Well” B9 said, “There’s no accounting for taste.”
