Company Commander Harper had commanded her Anti Missile battery for most of her military carreer.
She commanded a large cannon - a meter gun. This quarter kilometer weapon was buried in the core of an extinct volcano. It nominally fired a canister of fission submunitions at incoming multiple warheads.
Her canisters had a new target, the Cylons.
The briefing had stated that they were dangerous living machines bent on the extermination of all humanity.
The Galactica people had saved all they could. But their mission was the preservation of the human species. They did what they could, but Terra was being left to "it".
Her green vector graphics targeting screens were crowded with activity.
Uprated Destroyers, advanced fighters, mines, and tankers crowded the clean sky through which missiles were once expected to come.
Her primary targets would be the machine people's capital ships. Assuming they penetrated fleet defenses the Cylons would initially appear as swarms of small craft.
In training it became apparent that defending against their fighters would be very similar to intercepting warheads.
Her gun crews are battle Ready. Sidearms had been issued.
Her foot soldiers were also Battle Ready.
The meter Gun compound had a security platoon attached.
Thirty soldiers and ten military dogs stood ready to face renegade robots that reached the surface.
