Chapter Six
Chapter SIX
Kristien was now pissed off. She tried very hard not to show it but the altercation that had taken place between herself and Hawke and then Carsten during the test flight they had done earlier in the day with Airwolf had really rubbed her up the wrong way. Men were always full of their egos she thought, worse they think with their dicks.
Kristien was always calm but when she got to this stage she was often like an autoclave. She was so angry. All her emotions from the past few days were risen from deep inside of her and now she could barely keep them from exploding. On top of all of that, the rage that lived within her tempestuous existence, was trying to implode. She had gone from the grief of retelling the horrific kidnapping to giving both Hawke and Carsten a bollocking in less than twenty four hours.
Special Agent Carsten was cursing himself under his breath. He had never seen Kristien so angry in fact he had never seen her get this bad in all the years he had protected her, she usually managed to divert the anger usually driving a sports car on her own race circuit at over 200 mph until the engine blew but she hadn’t even bothered with the race circuit. His happy little paradise had been turned upside down since the arrival of the white limousine that brought Archangel eight days earlier. God was this day ever going to end?
He remained a discrete distance from Kristien which he always tried to do once she was safe within the fortified estate. Here she was safe, here no one could get to her and he could relax slightly. Carsten watched Kristien go to the hangar and he fumbled deep into his jacket pocket for his PDA. He glanced over it and seeing the blinking blip which was Kristien and no other blips he let out a deep sigh of relief. At least she was alone and no Hawke anywhere.
She strode over to the hangar that was Airwolf’s temporary home. The hand print ID and the retina scan seemed to take forever. Kristien now very impatient felt her chest get tighter narrowing her throat in the process. Hawke’s attempt of an apology earlier was sorely lacking, although it was very sincere, she felt that something had come between them and it wasn’t the separation.
Once inside the busy electronic hum of the computers could be heard.
Airwolf stood majestically in the middle of the hangar unaware of the presence she held for everyone that were allowed to gaze upon her. From the retractable roof 2 spot lights beamed down casting an almost perfect light for Airwolf. The light beams stroked Airwolf’s aerodynamic lines glazing her and adding to her accentuating being.
Kristien paused at the doorway and looked over Airwolf, her eyes scanning the helicopter all over. Her brain clicked silently into gear and she compared the actual blueprints buried deep from her memory to what her eyes were interpreting. She did this whilst bringing up the hundred or so passwords for Airwolf that Moffet had insisted on using whilst building Airwolf and had kept to himself or so he thought. No one ever noticed Kristien at the FIRM, most of the FIRMs personnel had mistaken Kristien for a young intern that was a geek of some kind just pushing papers around, that suited Kristien just fine she was not about to explain to anyone why at the tender age of 19 she had 8 PhDs.
Archangel had insisted on Kristien’s participation on the Airwolf project as her ability to break codes and ciphers in just seconds what usually took the best minds at MIT months and sometimes years. Kristien had hated her time at the FIRM following Moffet around, she always felt uneasy when he was in the room. Archangel had placed all the FIRMS eggs in one basket on this project and he wanted a back up plan. Kristien was that plan but as she had disappeared when Moffet did steal Airwolf and he did actually need those blue prints, she was nowhere to be found and he has not been able to ask her for any favours. More over would she have ever give Archangel any plans knowing why Hawke kept Airwolf.
Hawke had stepped out of the shower when he heard the outer security door to the hangar close. Still naked and wet Hawke walked to the edge of the lit hangar floor. The shadows hid him from view. Hawke stared intently at Kristien, he could easily see that she was working on a hundred and one things as normally she would have ‘felt’ his presence there.
Hawke watched Kristien walk over to the 5 laptops that were wired up to Airwolf, deftly she typed on one whilst looking at the screen and on another typed without looking. She looked over to Airwolf and saw that Hawke’s makeshift bed with the mattress and a few blankets was still out. Kristien smiled to herself and shook her head with disbelief. Did the man trust no one? God, only she and him had access to the Airwolf hangar and more over no one else could fly her did he really need to sleep with the infernal machine. Kristien knew of Hawke’s distrust of the FIRM but did not realise how deep he had let it become. Archangel had given her all the classified files of Airwolf including the mission to Libya to get her back 3 years before from the hands of Khadaffi and Moffet. He had been very busy over the time and more over had to deal with the outside world. Perhaps it was this that had changed Hawke so much she thought.
Her eyes then went direct to Airwolf to the panel that was open where she had worked on the fuel injectors earlier. She selected a couple of tools and then walked directly to the A frame ladder that was still next to Airwolf. Climbing up the ladder Kristien started to tighten a few nuts on the fuel lines. One of the lines to the injectors that had made them land earlier split from the earlier pressure spilling aviation fuel over Kristien’s hands and arms.
“Bugger.” Kristien spat as the burning of the fuel started to eat the layers of her skin. She quickly stopped the fuel spilling out anymore. “This was not the answer I was looking for from you” Kristien told the machine waving a wrench firmly at the helicopter. She reached over to the top of the ladder and replaced the fuel pipe. “I know you are in need of a major overhaul but you see I just do your computer parts.”
Kristien felt she needed to explain what she was doing partly to ignore the burning that the machine had inflicted upon her but also to remind herself not to do anymore mechanical work. After all she did tear a strip off Hawke earlier regarding the condition of Airwolf and the fact no serious down time had been scheduled for her.
Hawke was stuck between a rock and a hard place when it came to Airwolf, on occasion he and Dominic had snuck Airwolf into Santini Air’s hangars to do work on Airwolf when it was needed but to keep it there for a couple of weeks for an overhaul was just too much of a worry especially when every agency in the states had been given the order to find Airwolf. Hawke continued to watch Kristien knowing she was right about the overhaul. Maybe if they stayed a few more weeks at Kristien’s then they could overhaul Airwolf, that’s if Kristien could keep her bodyguard on a short leash.
Kristien rolled her eyes, realising that she was now talking to the helicopter just like Dominic did. Satisfied that she had successfully completed the earlier problem Kristien locked down the open panel and moved the ladder away from the helicopter.
Kristien looked at her reddening hands. “Shit!” She looked around and started to undress on her way to the shower that Hawke had been in minutes before. Had the burning not been so intense she would have seen the wet footprints left by Hawke.
The walk in decontamination showers were designed by her. Eight shower heads the size of dinner plates adorned the alcove that housed the shower area. The space could easily allow 4 people to shower in comfort at the same time. If there was one thing that Kristien detested was any kind of inefficiency. Time spent doing something else could easily be allocated to other more important things.
“Shower on setting 5,” Kristien spoke to the room. The computer instantly recognised the instructions given and the shower heads burst into life with instant hot water. Steam started to rise in the air.
Kristien removed the last under garments and dumped them into a pile on the chair next to the tidy folded pile of white towels. She removed a small radio from the clothes pile. She depressed the button and spoke softly into it. “Alfred, sorry please send down a new set of clothes to the hangar as I seemed to have bathed in aviation fuel down here.”
“Of course Miss Kristien,” Alfred spoke over the radio. “Clothes and a flask of tea will be down shortly. Do you require medical attention?”
“No Alfred I am fine.” Kristien confirmed back. “Just a shower to get it all off, that’s all, thank you.”
“As you wish Miss Kristien.” Alfred signed off. He knew better than to push the lady of the house towards a medical doctor after all she was one herself.
Kristien stepped into the shower and the glass doors automatically closed behind her. The power of the water was invigorating. Kristien was tired. She didn’t realise how much until the hot water hit her. The last few days had been draining both mentally and physically. Seeing Hawke again after all these years although she had yearned for this day had hit her like a 40 tonne truck. Hawke was not the same. The scars of lost friends over the 5 years of their forced separation had taken its toll.
Hawke watched Kristien undress and his breathing changed to shallow and rapid. He had not made any advances to her since seeing her again. In fact the two times that he had tried to touch her she had walked away. Why was that? Their relationship before meant that they were always constantly touching each other, milking the calmness that was generated between them.
It was like she was the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden or rather the garden of hell that he seemed to be cursed with. After all these years Hawke could still feel Kristien’s soft and gentle touch on his skin. The exotic smell of the soap she was using made Hawke’s hairs stand on end on the nape of his neck. He watched the lather trickle down over her full breasts. Hawke now tingled all over. As he continued to watch from the shadows he was hard.
How he wanted to be inside her right now. Hawke tried to walk towards the shower where he knew he would be satisfied but his feet did not obey. Damn his male body acting upon instinct but it was the deep wounds of his curse that prevented him from making any advance to the soul mate he had rediscovered once more. The pain in his heart was deep and throbbing. It had come back since he found the broken frame housing the photograph of him with Kristie and her horse.
Kristien exited the shower after only a few minutes, she was not one to spend more than necessary on any project and showering was just that. She wrapped her wet hot cherry pink body in a big towel. With another smaller towel she started to dry her long hair. She combed it back out of the way of her face.
To save time she walked back into the hangar to the outside door. She opened it and as if by magic Alfred had already placed a change of clothes in a bag complete with a silver flask full of hot earl grey tea. Kristien walked backwards back into the hangar clutching the bag and already opening the flask. She went back to the table where all the laptops were busy doing various diagnostics on Airwolf. She carefully placed the bag of clothes on the floor next to the table not disturbing any of the wires that were hanging from the backs of the laptops to Airwolf.
Kristien pulled over a large cup that she had used earlier for tea. She poured the hot liquid into it and smelt its aroma. As she took a sip of the earl grey allowing it to refresh her, she noticed one of the laptops not working. She went to the back of the table and followed the wire back towards Airwolf. God if she had her way the damn thing would have been designed wireless. Perhaps she would do this before Hawke took the bloody thing back to the bat cave.
There next to Hawke’s makeshift mattress was the uncoupled wire. She knelt down and rejoined the two cables. She tutted to herself now she would have to restart the diagnostic again. More time wasted she noted. And how did that cable come apart?
As she stood up, she turned walking almost into Hawke, her towel slipped off falling silently to the floor revealing her naked body to him once more.
Kristien gasped involuntarily as she saw Hawke, also naked blocking her way. His deep blue sorrowful eyes met her perfect eyes now too with a depth matching his brooding soul. Minutes passed. The silence between them was deafening.
Hawke raised his right arm and tried to place his hand onto Kristien’s body but he froze millimetres from her skin. He wasn’t sure if she would walk away like the two times before so he paused, allowing her to make the decision. Kristien knew Hawke and how to read his silences. To another these silences were arrogant and rude but to Kristien a thousand words had passed from him to her.
This time she stepped forward accepting the invitation, wrapping her arms around his muscular back and held him tightly resting her head on his chest. Hawke responded by gently allowing his arms to hold Kristien. He felt her soft skin on his. The smell of her was intoxicating. Hawke’s deep and brooding eyes filled with tears of happiness and sorrow. Oh how he had yearned to feel her touch again, her body touching his and he felt the calmness start to wash over him once more.
As he placed one kiss on her wet sweet smelling hair he held her tighter as the tears fell uncontrollably. This was real, she was there and so was he. How he wanted her and what he would give to keep her but part of his fast beating heart was already trying to make him pull away from her. Surely all this would do would rip open his already broken heart. Hawke wanted to run away, to stop this from happening but he couldn’t. His heart was numb as he held her even tighter hoping this would be enough to prevent him from running away.
He was trembling and then he felt her body also tremble but it was with the coldness of the hangar on her freshly showered damp body. Hawke had lost track of time and had held them both for some time allowing Kristien’s calmness to engulf his tormented soul.
He pulled her gently down to the makeshift bed and had her on top of him. He quietly moved the blankets over their bodies. Kristien hadn’t moved from Hawke’s chest. His pounding heart had captured hers and listening to it kept her entranced. She had waited 5 years for his return. Her forced solitude and celibacy had nearly destroyed her as she waited for an eternity for this moment.
They lay together with Kristien’s head on his chest and his chin resting gently on her damp brown hair. Their arms were holding their bodies so tightly not allowing any thoughts to escape. Neither of them could make love, although their bodies had both readied themselves for the passion that they felt, they could only lay together with their thoughts of their past relationship intertwined and just to forget the world around them.
Hawke had watched the moon go from one side of the hangar roof to the other. The skylights allowed in the full moon and lit up the rest of the hangar which had been bathed in darkness for most of the night. Hawke was still holding Kristien who had gently fallen asleep a couple of hours previous. Her arms still around him had loosened once she had drifted off into a much needed rest period.
Hawke had occupied the time with fond memories of the times he had with Kristien and all the time he looked over at Airwolf resting beside them. Her warmth from her body had enveloped him with her scent. His inner peace that he yearned for had returned expelling the torment that ripped him apart internally on a daily basis. His fingers caressed Kristien’s body giving him a new sense of purpose. His touch was light and her body responded. Kristien’s breathing changed and she started to stir slowly from her slumber.
She awoke and half remembering where she was she lifted her head from Hawke’s chest and allowed their eyes to meet for the first time that night without any pain. They gazed intently and there in that moment the deep scars from Kristien’s kidnapping from his cabin rose to the surface and Hawke saw a vulnerability in Kristien that had never been there previous. Dispelling his own sorrow and losses he realised that Kristien not only had she not been with a man since but something had happened to her during the kidnapping. She had explained the loss of the baby but he knew he had the very abridged version of events. Even during the debriefing to the Secret Service she had kept a lot about the kidnapping private.
Hawke gently pulled her towards his lips and they brushed over timid at first, then more purposely as they allowed their torn emotions some freedom. Their embrace was long and passionate, Hawke’s hands stroking Kristien’s back purposely. Both of them searching for their inner peace that they used to find within each others soul. They did not have to wait long.
Hawke gently rolled Kristien over and gazed upon her body that lay before him in the gentle moonlight. His hands caressed her breasts, he leaned over her and kissed her passionately, encouraged by her return of the passion he allowed his hands to explore more. His hand came across the eight inch scar that was nearly in the shape of a crescent moon where the kidnappers had ripped Kristien open in panic to remove Hawke’s son.
Kristien frantically tried to pull away, the vulnerability that Hawke saw earlier had come to the forefront of her mind. Hawke gently but firmly held on to her and kissed her again, calmly Kristien returned the embrace and Hawke lay gently on top of her. Kristien held onto Hawke firmly, as he entered her, her fingers dug deep into his back and she gasped in pain.
Halfway inside, so tight, so very tight Hawke felt that he could not hold back his male instincts, that he was going to explode right there but suddenly saw a flash of pain in Kristien’s eyes before she could hide them from him, she did not cry out nor tell him to stop. Instead of her pulling away she held onto him tighter, her fingertips penetrating deep into his back, her legs pinning his down on her. Kristien’s heart raced as she tried to catch up with her breath.
As he paused to wait for Kristien, it suddenly dawned on him what happened to Kristien during the kidnapping. In some of the Middle Eastern cultures, the Sheiks of great power were known to have their women altered so that they would never lose that tightness. They would always feel like a virgin. Hawke realised that when they kidnapped Kristien and finding out she was pregnant would mean that the Arab Prince they were taking her to would know that she was no longer pure.
So the Arab kidnappers did the barbaric, evil practice of making several mid-sized incisions inside of her. The resulting scar tissue was very thick and deep making sexual intercourse painful for the woman but totally satisfying for the Sheik.
Hawke’s eyes filled with tears of sadness as the realisation of what had happened to Kristien during the kidnapping came also to the forefront of his mind. No wonder she did not call for him, to yearn for him, to desire him and explained why she had blocked their special bond all these years from finding her. Hawke’s tears ran down his face and fell on Kristien and she opened her eyes and with one of her hands she released her tight grip on him, and gently wiped away the tears from his sorrowful face. The bond between them now physical had returned and ensured that Kristien knew that Hawke had read her mind and found out about the barbaric ordeal that she was put through.
All of the way inside now, Hawke had to fight the male instincts which wanted to take her now. He raised his body weight off her and gently began a rhythm which Kristien returned by raising her hips and fell in time to his thrusts. The initial shocking pain had passed and she now relaxed as she had got used to it. Hawke leaned down and tenderly kissed her neck. He knew he would have to be so very gentle with her every time that they would make love as the tightness would never leave her. Quietly, somehow, a dark thought crept into Hawke’s mind, each time that he would enter her, he would be reaping the benefits from now on, from the barbaric practise Kristien had incurred. What he would give to turn back time.
Slowly, Hawke took full possession of Kristien unifying their souls once more re-establishing their special bond that Kristien had blocked for over five years. With their hearts, body, mind and souls now unified both physically and mentally, their destinies again were now linked. Hawke looked deep into Kristien’s eyes as he did the deep catacombs of the past five years of Kristien’s life poured over to him.
As dawn broke Hawke gently held Kristien in his strong, muscular arms, protecting her, allowing her to sleep, he sobbed quietly trying hard not to feel the avalanche of pain, the fear that Kristien endured during the kidnapping vowing quietly to himself to find out who the hell these bastards were and to introduce Airwolf to them.
Sometimes he could not understand how vile men could be.
Silently, Hawke made his vow before God.
Kristien was now pissed off. She tried very hard not to show it but the altercation that had taken place between herself and Hawke and then Carsten during the test flight they had done earlier in the day with Airwolf had really rubbed her up the wrong way.
