Chapter 7

Milo heard the two men in the front converse, every now and then he’d hear something that may have included himself but he didn’t really care. He felt tired and uncomfortable, the aches in his bones gave him no desire to try and move. The upholstered seats soaked up the blood that dried to his skin making him feel glued to the spot. He daren’t open his eyes, something may have slithered into the car while they were making their escape and he couldn’t really deal with anymore creatures trying to rip him apart.

His wrists and ankles twitched every now and then as the little pieces of bone gradually finished their assembly. He had no idea what had happened to him, the pain had been something he never wished to feel again and when he had opened his eyes he wished death would take him. However, as he ran his fingers down his arms he felt relaxed to find he was in a more familiar body, his own instead of that women Faye’s.

However there was the question of these two men that were now driving him to god knows where. He suddenly felt foolish that he had clung to the blonde mans coat, for all he knew they could have been just as bad as the daemon that now raged somewhere behind them. Lights began shining from outside and the flicker of passing street lamps made him dizzy, with little chance of escape he sighed and attempted to sleep.

A while after the street lights had appeared residential buildings began popping up on either side of the road – mainly houses – but as the commercial building began to appear the clusters of construction soon became a town. Sam eyed the streets warily, it was early morning and the town was barren of any life bar the random walker. In some paranoid sense he considered anyone that was about to be a possible lackey for this daemon – in actuality that creature had probably lost their trail hours ago through other exhaust fumes and anybody that was out now was as innocent as the moths gathered under the street lights.

“keep an eye out for a hotel Sammy” Dean instructed his younger brother, his eyes felt heavy from lack of sleep and constant need to keep alert. Sam nodded and turned his attention to the buildings rather than the rare passersby.

A couple of minutes later Sam spotted a glowing sign that seemed to be promising, ’24 hour inn’

“Dean, there” Sam pointed to the large building to the left and Dean with relief turned into the parking lot. He had to admit it didn’t look as bad as some of the places they had stayed in. The parking lot wasn’t overly big but there weren’t many cars in either way and both brothers felt relieved for that – less people to hide their hitchhiker from.

Dean turned the engine off and slid back in his seat sighing, he looked to his brother Sam who looked equally drained and then to the back seat.

“How are we going to do this...” he questioned, more to himself. The creature in the back appeared to have passed out, the blood that stained his skin had now dried in various degrees of thickness – they definitely needed to get him in the shower. The harder part about this was that the guy was naked; Dean frowned then looked to Sam,

“You have any spare clothes with you?” Sam looked to Dean as if he’d just sweared at him, “what?”

“You’re not honestly suggesting I let him use my clothes?” Sam sneered at the form in the back

,

“Sam come on, anyway you’re both a similar build” Dean reasoned,

“He’s shorter than me” Dean couldn’t help but smirk at how childish Sam was being especially since most of the time it was him chewing Dean out,

“I’m not arguin’, your bags in the boot right?” Dean opened the door not to gently, not waiting for Sam to follow – he just wanted to sleep.

“Dean!” Sam hurriedly got out of his side and rushed to the back where Dean was already rummaging through the bags. He stared at his brother and sighed; he really couldn’t be bothered to argue the point and leant against the car not wishing to help his brother in the slightest. After a few minutes Dean pulled out an old pair of jeans and a loose t-shirt, he watched Sam grunt in slight approval as he disappeared to the front of the car,

“Hey! Where you goin?” Dean yelled after his brother while slamming the boot back down,

“To explain to whoever owns this place why we need a room” Sam continued towards the building, Dean watched as his brother entered through the front entrance of the hotel – he hoped whatever ‘explanation’ he gave was a good one. He watched the door until it fully closed then went round to the back passengers door, carefully he opened the door hoping that the man hadn’t chose to rest to heavily on the door.

The man lay curled up on the back seat, his shoulder blades rose every now and then with his breathing. Dean bit his lip, he didn’t want to scare the man out of his sleep however he needed to get him into some form of neatness in case anybody came across them. However the large dried patches of blood on his body would give rise to suspicion he had to at least make and effort. With slight hesitation he gently shook the younger mans shoulder,

“Hey, dude wake up..” Dean watched as the man twitched slightly and his head lift heavily from its resting place. A slight smile played on Deans lips as he saw the briefest of calm in the man’s expression before it fell on him and his features became tense, “Chill okay? We found somewhere to stay for the night”. The younger mans eyes moved from Dean to behind him, the neon lights reflected in Milo’s watery eyes.

“The Daemon will find me...” Milo turned his gaze back to the blonde haired man in front of him, he couldn’t help but feel vulnerable in his naked form and put whatever little defences he had up.

“No he won’t, we got far away from that other place, you’re safe” Dean had the uncharacteristic urge to embrace the man, he acted more like a child than a man. He stared at Dean with eyes that appeared older than they should have been in the youth’s seamless face. His eyes were to dark he couldn’t even see the iris’s in the middle.

Dean had never seen a man like this, so juxtaposed in his very being with old eyes but youthful skin and physique as well as a face which if not looked at closely could easily be misjudged as a woman’s. His gaze moved from the man’s eyes and lingered on the harsh scar, it appeared the other man had noticed and lowered his head in attempt to hide himself, Dean awkwardly looked away slightly embarrassed that he had been staring at the young man.

“I-I need to get you dressed, don’t think we’ll get in if your butt naked” Dean grinned nervously and motioned to the clothes in his hand. Milo looked from Dean’s face to his hand and back up again,

“Who are you?...” Milo’s throat was dry and the words crackled out like an out of tune radio, he gulped and continued to look at the man, unblinking. Dean could understand the man’s suspicions; his eyes were drawn to the man’s lips as they quivered slightly from his dry breathing and caught his own breath – what was wrong with him?

“My names –“ Dean was cut off by Sam shouting from across the car park,

“Got us a room Dean!” Dean jumped, narrowly missing the roof of the car door, he looked to Sam and sighed slightly relieved. The man stirred something in Dean which was unusual and alien to him and during that moment of silence he wanted to get out. Sam slowed to a halt by Deans side and leaned against the car, “Its near the fire exit, I said our friend wasn’t feeling to good and would prefer not to be ill in the lobby so the guys allowed us to go through the fire door instead” He looked to the man in the car, “You still not got him dressed” Sam smirked,

“We’ve been talking” Dean replied, his mind somewhere else,

“Dean you ok?” Sam looked to his brother concerned, Dean blinked and his focus returned to his younger brother

,

“Yeah Sammy I’m fine, just a little tired I guess” He playfully pushed Sam’s shoulder and grinned, “You go get that fire door open, we’ll be up the back stairs soon ok? Just wait for us” Sam looked at his brother and the younger man before nodding,

“Sure Dean” He ran back to the hotel, leaving the two men alone again. Dean watched his brother has he gradually disappeared into the hotels white lights before looking to the man in the car. He knew that the man hadn’t taken his eyes off Dean once, he’d felt those dark eyes in the back of his skull and it made him shiver. His head snapped back to the younger man and he knelt down quick,

“Right, I don’t know what’s up with you but you’re really freaking me out so tell me what’s on your mind and I’ll not hit you!” Dean snarled, his fingers digging into the sides of the door,

“Dean...” The man voiced softly, Dean blinked not expecting the response, “Your names Dean”

“Yes” Dean replied, slightly put off balance, his anger had all but drained away,

“He’s your brother” the man stated, appearing to be analysing the situation, Dean nodded, “And he’s called Sam”

“Yes” again Dean nodded, he watched the mans eyes lower and a look of sadness sweep over his features. Dean looked anywhere but at the man, he did not want to lock eyes again and waited until he responded,

“My name is Milo” Deans eyes returned to the younger mans, those black circles trapping him again, “I’m sorry... but you and your brother are involved now...”
