Caroline sat in her car, trying to keep her raging emotions at bay. Matt and Jeremy had tried to calm her after her outburst, but she had angrily yelled at them and driven away. She supposed she had been a little meaner than was necessary, but they had chosen to follow her. They should know better than to try to placate a grieving vampire. Caroline knew Matt and Jeremy had been close to Tyler too, but not like her. They’d drifted a bit since Tyler ran off to break his sire bond with Klaus. She didn’t blame them for that, but she wasn’t about to let them comfort her about his death. It hadn’t even been a day; of course she wasn’t exactly adjusted yet.
She missed Tyler so much already. His loss was starting to really sink in for her. He was actually gone. How she yearned to look into his deep brown eyes, rest her head on his gorgeous, defined chest. Tears began to well in her eyes, and she decided to find a better place to grieve than the side of the road. She headed to the Lockwood mansion. Caroline didn’t pull up the driveway, instead choosing to leave her Ford on the road. She couldn’t be seen by Mrs. Lockwood; she was supposed to be miles from Mystic Falls by then, running away with Tyler to someplace safe. So she entered the house stealthily and began to creep up the stairs. She found Tyler’s familiar room and opened the door slowly. What she saw behind it made her freeze. It was Tyler. He was sitting on his bed with a sketchpad in his lap. His shoulders were hunched slightly, and his hand was moving fluidly across the page with a focused intensity he had lost since triggering his werewolf gene so long ago. He was so immersed in his drawing that he hadn’t heard her come in, and she took the opportunity to drink in his beauty. Though his only movement was in his hand, she could feel the excited energy emanating from his presence and watched him in awed silence. A few minutes later, the motion in Tyler’s hand slowed until it came to a complete stop. “I know you’re there,” he said softly. “I didn’t want to bother you,” she said quietly, offering an explanation as to why she was lurking in the doorway. “You could never be a bother, Caroline,” he said, standing up and tucking the sketchpad into a drawer. “I never thought I’d see you again,” Caroline murmured. “How are you even alive?” “Does it matter?” he asked, staring into her bright, hopeful eyes. “Tyler,” Caroline breathed, ignoring his words entirely. It was just sinking in that he was alive, standing only a few feet away from her. She could no longer contain herself. She ran at him and leapt up to wrap her legs around his waist, running her fingers through his hair. She kissed him fervently, and he responded instantly, shoving his tongue into her mouth with violent passion. He tasted of fresh mountain air and cedar, with even the slightest hint of something like nutmeg. He spun her around and slammed her into the wall, eliciting a small moan from Caroline and causing something to fall, but they paid no attention to that. Caroline shoved Tyler’s shirt up over his head and pushed him away from her, easily dropping down to stand on the floor again. She took a moment to admire his physique before pulling her own shirt over her head. She smiled and looked at him with hungry anticipation as she approached him. She laid her hands on his firm chest and pushed him onto the bed so he was half lying on it. “Easy, love,” he crooned, and Caroline paused, a look of puzzled concern spreading over her face. “Did you just call me love?” “I don’t know, love,” Tyler smiled. “Did I?” “What the hell did you do?” Caroline cried, springing away from him in shocked horror. “That’s what I enjoy about you,” he purred, rising from the bed. “You’re so much more than a pretty face.” “Oh my god,” Caroline said softly. “You’re Klaus! You’re disgusting!” “And you’re a glorious kisser,” he earned a sharp slap from Caroline. Even with the strength that came with being a vampire, the slap didn’t do much to hurt the powerful hybrid. It did sting, though, even after the physical pain died away. “What did you do to Tyler?” Caroline snapped, turning away from him to put on her shirt. “I never did understand your infatuation with him,” Klaus mused. “Maybe that’s because you aren’t capable of love,” Caroline suggested. Klaus glared at her, wounded. “You have no idea what you’re talking about. “You carted your siblings around in boxes for hundreds of years!” Caroline reminded him. “I have no idea what I’m talking about? I think I understand a hell of a lot more than you.” Caroline scoffed and stormed out of the room angrily. She had to be away from him. She didn’t know what was worse; believing that Tyler was dead, or knowing that his body had been possessed by Klaus. As soon as she reached the car, she began to drive. She didn’t know where she was going. She just knew that, at that moment, she needed to get as far away from him as possible. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
