Justin couldn't bear the thought of leaving Erin alone at the hospital. Despite her claims that she'd be fine, he followed Voight into Molly's, where the rest of their crew was trying to put the events behind them.
"Hey, Hank," Hermann greeted the sergeant, glancing at Justin but remaining silent. "How are you two holding up?" he inquired as Voight ordered drinks.
"We're okay," Justin replied. He glanced at his father, knowing the words were far from true. But realizing not everyone was aware of the recent turn of events, he kept it to himself.
Accepting a beer from Hermann, Justin joined Voight at the table where Jay, Antonio, and the others were seated with colleagues from Firehouse 51. He ignored Casey's disapproving gaze, assuming the lieutenant still harbored resentment towards him.
Justin, however, had more pressing concerns to tend to. Taking a sip of his drink, he eavesdropped on the conversations around him.
"Where's Erin?" Kelly asked, breaking the convivial conversation. The question sent a wave of tension through everyone except Casey, Otis, and Cruz.
"Yeah, where is she?" Casey added, scanning the room for the female detective. He caught the somber expressions on Brett and Stella's faces.
Justin realized that Brett and Stella had withheld information from the rest of Firehouse 51.
Concern etched on his face, Kelly turned to Stella. "Did something happen?" he asked, his voice heavy.
Antonio answered, knowing the importance of sharing the situation. "Erin's in a vulnerable state. It's crucial that you remain calm if you see her, as any sudden movements could trigger an episode.”
“The case we had abruptly worsened," Antonio stated, noting the concern on Casey and Kelly's faces as Hermann approached.
Justin suppressed his urge to leave, allowing Antonio to continue. "Regarding the family incapacitated by nitrous oxide?" Casey inquired.
"Yes, we apprehended the suspects," Antonio confirmed, his throat tight as he recalled Erin's injuries. "However, it was a perilous ordeal. Erin attempted to contact a victim who, unbeknownst to us, was a suspect."
Kelly's jaw tightened, but he listened intently. "Erin approached Tawny, but she fell into a trap set by Tawny's accomplice. He rendered Erin unconscious," Antonio explained. "We discovered the situation too late and arrived at the scene with a delay.”
"Is Erin okay?" Casey inquired, his brow furrowed with concern.
"Henley drugged her with nitrous oxide," Antonio revealed, his lip trembling. His gaze shifted to Kelly, recalling his sister's ordeal. Now, he was informing him that Erin, Kelly's best friend, had also been violated.
"Was she raped?" Kelly asked, his chest burning with fury and anguish. Gasps filled the room, and Antonio nodded slowly. "Henley beat her and raped her so severely that she now scared of us," he explained.
Justin emptied his beer, his eyes fixed on Kelly and Casey's expressions of horror and wrath. He noticed the same emotions mirrored in Otis, Cruz, and Hermann's faces.
Kelly turned to Brett and Stella. "And you knew about this? Why didn't you tell us?" he demanded.
"We didn't want to provoke reckless actions. If you or Erin found out you know, we knew she would spiral into self-loathing," Stella replied.
( At the hospital with Erin, 3 am in the morning, nightmare)
Erin's scream pierced the air as Henley's hands gripped her body and his kisses trailed down her. "Stop...Get off," she pleaded, her skin shivering at the touch of his breath.
Immobile, Erin watched in horror as Henley thrust into her. "Be a good little detective and enjoy me," he growled, his voice a guttural whisper against her ear.
"No one will save you now," he purred, his words laced with cruel satisfaction. "If anything happens, I'll break out and take you again. We'll have so much fun." His laughter echoed as Erin silently wept.
Henley smirked, watching the tears streaming down her cheeks. "You'll be insatiable," he taunted, his laughter turning into a mocking cackle. "No man will ever touch you again after this."
Erin screamed, desperate to push him away. "Get off me...Please stop," she sobbed. Henley's laughter only grew louder as he continued his relentless assault. "Cry, it makes you more beautiful," he groaned.
( End of Nightmare)
Erin let out a guttural groan as she tossed and turned, as if trying to shake off an unseen force. "Stop... Somebody help..." she wailed.
"Erin," a gentle voice called. Erin's body convulsed as hands shook her gently. "No! Stop..." she whimpered in fear. "Erin, wake up. It's just a dream," the voice said softly. "Open your eyes."
Summoning strength, Erin opened her eyes to see a figure looming over her. Her heart pounded with trepidation. She attempted to move away from the figure but gasped, "Get away."
"Erin, calm down. It's just me, April." Blinking rapidly, Erin forced herself to relax as she realized it was April, not Henley, standing at her bedside.
Sweat streamed down the female detective's face as she looked at April with fear and guilt. "I'm...I'm...so..." she tried to speak, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry, April." She whispered, her body shaking with pain.
Erin felt a lump in her throat and had to lean over the bed and vomit. April quickly brought her a bedpan as the brunette continued to throw up.
"I'm so sorry, April," Erin said repeatedly.
April frowned sympathetically. "Don't apologize, Erin. It's not your fault."
Erin leaned back against the pillows, tears rolling down her face. "Easy, just rest," April said as she sat on the side of the bed. Erin laid her head on April's chest, listening to her heartbeat.
"Just go to sleep. I'll stay here until then," April promised, her fingers running through Erin's damp hair.
April held Erin protectively, her heart aching at each broken cry. As Erin drifted back to slumber, whimpers escaped her lips, a sign of the haunting nightmare that lingered in her mind.
Henley's words from the nightmare echoed through Erin's subconscious, fueling her fears. April observed Erin's restless sleep, her concern evident. The brunette's screams had disturbed April earlier, a testament to the torment she endured.
April's heart ached for Erin, a woman who deserved justice. She hoped that whoever had wronged her would face the consequences of their actions.
Erin had endured unimaginable suffering, and her trust had been shattered. Only April remained by her side, offering solace and unwavering support.
"How is she?" April glanced up to see Dr. Alex Willhite at the doorway. Rhodes must have contacted him, as he was a close friend of Erin's, and his late wife had worked with the detective.
April turned her gaze to Erin's sleeping figure and then back to Alec. "She'll be okay. She had a nightmare," she explained as Alec nodded.
"Will she be all right? What happens if she's not?" he asked, the thought of losing someone he considered a sister almost unbearable.
"It will take time, Alec," April whispered. "Especially around men." Alec nodded in understanding.
"Can you tell her I stopped by? I don't want to stay and overwhelm her," he said.
April smiled and nodded. "Of course. I'll let you know if she's okay."
As Alec left, April closed her eyes, careful not to move and wake Erin up. It was only 3:30 AM, and the brunette needed her rest, especially since she had to be interviewed in the morning.
