It’s moving day for Bronte and she just has to spread the news.
Or...Bronte at her fullest delusional attitude ^^’
thank you, few (very :'( ) but precious readers.
If only you could let me know if you're liking it by leaving a tiny comment ... whatever ^^'Setting:between the end of 5x2 and the beginning of 5x3
Prompt: Moving day
New kind of plan
Bronte’s POV
“No, please, Louise, repeat, what did Joe do?” Phoenix asks me, still bewildered.
More like all my other friends, who are staring at me in disbelief.
Not that I’ve already recovered properly from this news, but that’s not the point.
“He offered me a flat. A fucking rent free flat on the Upper East Side! He already gave me a copy of the keys.” I add, as I’m searching for my clothes in the cupboard.
Today is moving day and I’m gathering all my stuff here.
“That’s such a big score, babe. You get to spend even more time with that motherfucker, discovering all his dirty secrets!” Dominique roots for me.
“Well, yeah, I guess that beyond work, he’s going to pay me a visit sometimes.” I shrug, as I put my T-shirts and cardigans in my trolley.
“Replace 'visit' with ‘shag’ and you’ll get the truth!”
Clayton always speaks his mind.
Even when it’s extremely annoying.
I prefer just to ignore him.
“Believe me or not, but Joe is really acting like a proper gentleman.”
And I’m not lying.
I still remember what happened a few hours ago, when, with the excuse of giving me back my sleeping bag, not only you asked me if I wanted my job back, but you also showed me the apartment you wanted to give to me for free.
Without asking anything in return.
I still recall the moment when you locked the door.
Only me and you inside a soundproof room.
You could have done anything you wanted to me.
No one could have stopped you; let alone me, you’re way stronger than me.
Yet you just asked me if everything was okay, because you saw how I was backing off, you sensed my tension.
That’s what empathetic, good-hearted people do.
“Hey, babe, are you still with us?” Dominique abruptly snaps her fingers in front of my eyes.
This is something that has always bothered me.
“Huh, yeah, I was mentally checking if I’ve missed some of my stuff.” I reply, pretending to go to what used to be my bedroom.
Geez, I’ve become such a skillful liar that now I lie even to who’s supposed to be the only family I’ve left.
But I’m doing that for a good reason.
They must begin to see you the same way I do.
Because if there’s even the slightest possibility that you’re innocent about all the Beck issue; then what my friends and I are about to do is so wrong.
And every moment I spend with you makes that possibility less and less slight.
“I mean what I said, Clayton, so far Joe hasn’t touched me, not even with a finger. And I guess he won’t, until I make him believe he should.” I resume talking, once I reach my friends in the living room.
Because… that’s the reason, right? It ‘s not that you hadn’t done anything yet… because you don’t fancy me?
What if I’m not your type?
No, it can’t be.
The way you opened up, first when you set me free from the cage and then, in the apartment, the way you chose to share with me a very troubled part of your past … c’mon, there’s connection between us.
So far only mental connection, but it’s still something.
“Then hurry up, Louise. The sooner you make him fall in love with you, the sooner the bastard can fall in our trap!” Phoenix insists.
And that’s where my friends are wrong.
The sooner I can prove to them the good person you, Joe, are, the sooner they will get it over with this fucking obsession of setting you up.
This is my new kind of plan.
Because he doesn’t deserve that.
“Yep, Brontesauros, I hope that the next time you come here back to us is to tell us that you finally fucked him, in every sense!”
“Geez, Claytong, this is gross!” I grimace, before glaring at him.
I quickly hug everyone, put on my rucksack, drag the trolley with me and finally I’m out of that house.
When I reach the Mooney’s, I see you waiting for me.
You insisted on setting the moving day after work because you wanted to help me.
Another proof of the good person you are.
“Hey.” You greet me, getting close.
“Hey.” I smile. “Told you so. I don’t have much stuff, we’ll be done in a heartbeat.”
“I’m still offering even a quick help.” You beam, taking my trolley up to the stairs.
Such a perfect gentleman.
“So, goodbye to the toxic past?” You ask me, opening the door.
“Goodbye to the toxic past.” I nod and I mean it, as I cross the threshold.
“Maybe it’s for the better if you don’t have many things with you.” You say as I open the trolley on the bed. “The closet is not that big, so for now it’s enough, but maybe further on we can buy a bigger one and...”
I grab your hand, to make you stop.
“Are you really hinting that this couldn’t be enough?” I smile at you. “Joe, maybe you didn’t realize the unforgettable, immense thing you did for me.”
“Anything to make you feel safe, Bronte.” You caress my hand, before letting it go.
Your words make me shiver, the good kind of shiver, of course.
"Well, I guess I should go now.” You head towards the front door. “But you should inaugurate this place; it’s better if you do it with lunch, it’s easier for me to be here. Dinners would make Kate too suspicious… not that we are doing something wrong but.. you know.” You mutter, before going downstairs.
This apartment has so many windows that it takes me a while to find the one that allows me to watch you walk away.
If I manage to set my stuff on time, maybe I can go to the grocery store and we can have that inauguration lunch already tomorrow.
Oh Joe, I still don’t know if there’ll ever be something between you and me.
But if it happens, I swear that you won’t have to pay the price for that.
I swear that my friends won’t put their clutches on you.
If we really get closer, if we give in to our instinct, if our relationship can finally see the light, I already know what to do.
We will enjoy a very good time, because we deserve it; but just for a while.
Then, just when you least expect it, I’ll run away from you.
I’ll disappear from your life, without a trace.
I won’t let you follow me and fall directly into my friend's trap.
If they won’t figure out on their own that they are making a big mistake, then I’ll sabotage them, I’l fuck their plan up.
Maybe you’ll feel betrayed by me, a little wounded in your ego, maybe you’ll even hate me, but at least I’ll keep you safe from something that would destroy you.
If there can’t be a happy ending for both of us, I’ll make sure that at least you can have one.

THE END
Okay, this one of the hardest prompts to write, because I had to put Bronte’s gang in it (did I mention I hate them? LOL) .. but I couldn’t bring myself only to write the scene with them, I also had to put Joe at the end, hope you won’t mind… if ever someone wants to reply ^^’
Besides, I know that in the series they always show Bronte just and only with her rucksack, but I refuse to believe she didn't have a trolley, at least when she moved to the apartment, LOL
See ya next time, with a even tougher prompt.
